Title: Funkadelic
Label: 4 MEN WITH BEARDS
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: 4M 160LP
180 gram vinyl, in deluxe, heave sleeve. "The 1970 debut from Detroit's nastiest, most shredding progenitors of funk-rock. Arising from the ashes of George Clinton's Plainfield, New Jersey led R&B group, The Parliaments, Funkadelic formed in the late '60s and, in addition to Clinton, included the blazing guitar of Eddie Hazel, organist Mickey Atkins, rhythm guitarist Tawl Ross, and drummer Tiki Fulwood. Though firmly rooted in funk and soul, Funkadelic incorporates a dark psychedelic element, influenced by Hendrix and Sly Stone, to create a sound that was unparalleled at the time and since. Sampled by everyone from DJ Shadow to Ice Cube, De La Soul, and the Beastie Boys, Funkadelic still sounds fresh today and is the first solid example of George Clinton's eccentric genius."

Title: Maggot Brain
Label: 4 MEN WITH BEARDS
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: 4M 161LP
"1971's Maggot Brain is Funkadelic's all-out masterpiece. Absolutely no one working in soul and funk at the time had the scope, vision, and, let's be honest, sheer lunacy to pull off the kind of record that George Clinton and his collaborators have made here. Eccentric funk jams are bookended by two of the heaviest tracks ('Maggot Brain' and 'Wars Of Armageddon') ever committed to tape. The title track, and album opener, is nothing short of mind-blowing, Eddie Hazel's guitar is a revolution brought on by Clinton, who supposedly told him to 'play like your momma just died.' An essential classic and the deepest album to come out of the Parliament-Funkadelic camp." Gatefold sleeve, 180 gram vinyl.

Title: Free Your Mind... And Your Ass Will Follow
Label: 4 MEN WITH BEARDS
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: 4M 172LP
"Funkadelic's second LP, originally released in 1970, is another straight up masterpiece from the stoniest, strangest funk and R&B group of all-time. Opening with the 10 minute title track complete with a shredding keyboard solo from Bernie Worrell and, of course, the six-stringed insanity of Eddie Hazel. One of George Clinton's finest sets of songs and another essential part of the Parliament-Funkadelic catalog." 180 gram vinyl. Deluxe gatefold sleeve.

Title: Cosmic Slop
Label: 4 MEN WITH BEARDS
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: 4M 173LP
"Another classic LP from the P-Funk camp, originally released in 1973. The title track is an absolute stone classic funk jam and 'Nappy Dugout' is another heavily sampled nugget (most notably on A Tribe Called Quest's 'Ham And Eggs'). George Clinton gets heavy too, in the harrowing Vietnam War spoken word 'March To The Witch's Castle.' Get down with another killer Funkadelic title." 180 gram vinyl. Deluxe gatefold sleeve.

Title: America Eats Its Young
Label: 4 MEN WITH BEARDS
Format: 2LP
Price: $25.00
Catalog #: 4M 179LP
"The 4th album from George Clinton's funk/psych/rock outfit, originally released in 1972, is a double LP of epic proportions. Deep and heavy grooves propelled by the always amazing guitar, bass and keyboard work of Eddie Hazel, William 'Bootsy' Collins, and Bernie Worrell, respectively. Equally sleazy, political, heartfelt, and just plain bizarre, America Eats Its Young was, and remains, one of the few double albums of the 1970s that warranted every single minute of wax." Deluxe gatefold sleeve; 180 gram vinyl.

Title: Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On
Label: 4 MEN WITH BEARDS
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: 4M 180LP
"Originally released in 1974, Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On, is the 6th album from George Clinton's pioneering, funk-rock outfit. After a brief hiatus this album features the return of the blistering guitar work of Eddie Hazel, along with the consistently brilliant keyboards of future Talking Head Bernie Worrell. Another feather in the increasingly bizarre and brilliant cap of Mr. Clinton." Deluxe gatefold sleeve; 180 gram vinyl.

Title: Let's Take It To The Stage
Label: 4 MEN WITH BEARDS
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: 4M 207LP
"Originally released in April of 1975, Let's Take It To The Stage is George Clinton's pioneering combo's seventh album for Westbound Records. Let's Take It To The Stage was the work of a group that had turned a corner, a combination of all the disparate aspects of Funkadelic's music up to that point: the extended jams, abrasive guitars, smooth ballads, direct vocals, psychedelic ingredients, sexual lyrics and dirty funk into the most short and to-the-point songs they'd ever recorded. Let's Take It To The Stage is cool music made by cool people for cool people." 180 gram vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve.

Title: Tales Of Kidd Funkadelic
Label: 4 MEN WITH BEARDS
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: 4M 208LP
"1976's Tales of Kidd Funkadelic is the last Funkadelic album on Westbound Records and it was actually released after George Clinton and company had left the label for Warner Bros. Just before leaving, Clinton (as a contractual obligation) delivered to their original label a collection of recently recorded outtakes (some leftover jams, songs, and funk pieces) which were released as the album Tales of Kidd Funkadelic (the LP did significantly better commercially than their first album for Warner Bros., Hardcore Jollies, and included 'Undisco Kidd,' an R&B Top 30 single)." 180 gram vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve.

Price: $20.00
Catalog #: GET 8012
"They furthered the notions of black rock begun by Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone, blending elements of '60s psychedelia and blues plus the deep groove of soul and funk. Originally released in 1979, Uncle Jam Wants You contains the absolute winner and most famous track, the 15-minute deep groove of '(Not Just) Knee Deep'. The cover art alone is brilliant, front and back showing Clinton in Huey P. Newton's famous Black Panther pose. Original artwork. Gatefold sleeve. 180 gram HQ vinyl."

Title: Hardcore Jollies
Label: GET BACK (ITALY)
Format: LP
Price: $20.00
Catalog #: GET 8021
"Dedicated to 'the guitar players of the world', and originally released in 1976, this was Funkadelic's major label debut on Warner brothers. 8 tracks, including: 'Comin' Round the Mountain', 'Smokey', and 'You Scared the Lovin' Outta Me' plus liner notes including the short story of 'The Titillating Tale of Tillard Tat' starring Queen Freekalene of Funkadelia and the US Funk Mob ('the supreme and singular distinction of the highest musical life form on Earth')."

Title: The Electric Spanking Of War Babies
Label: GET BACK (ITALY)
Format: LP
Price: $20.00
Catalog #: GET 8023
"With George Clinton, a humorous phrase could be nothing more than playful tomfoolery, or it could be a double entendre with a deep political meaning. The phrase 'electric spanking of war babies' falls into the latter category -- it referred to what the funk innovator saw as the U.S. government using the media to promote imperialistic wars. To Clinton, the American media functioned as a propaganda machine during wartime. But whether or not one cares to examine its hidden political messages, Electric Spanking is an above-average party album. Spanking falls short of the excellence of One Nation Under a Groove and Uncle Jam Wants You and didn't boast a major hit single, but amusing funk smokers like 'Electro-Cuties' and 'Funk Gets Stronger' aren't anything to sneeze at, nor is the reggae-influenced 'Shockwaves'. Spanking turned out to be the last album Clinton would produce under the name Funkadelic -- when he hit the charts again in 1983, Mr. P-Funk was billing himself as a 'solo artist'." Original artwork. 180 gram vinyl.
