Artist: FUNKSTÖRUNG
Title: Post.Art
Label: CHOCOLATE INDUSTRIES
Format: CD
Price: $9.00
Catalog #: CHLT 002 CD
"CD issue of the 12" only EP of the same name from mssrs. Fakesch/De Luca (originally issued mid-'98 and unavailable since), containing an untitled bonus track exclusive to this edition (starts @ the 15:31 mark on track 4, runs clear through 21:15). Funkstörung have been one the few IDM acts to readily accept a linear path of progression throughout their active recording career (multiple EP/LP's on the Hotmix, Acid Planet, Compost, Musik Aus Strom, Mask, and Studio !K7 labels, not to mention Fakesch & De Luca's solo output...) and produce such consistently headscratch-brilliant mini-epics referencing everything from classic-era stereo minimalism, 70's synth-musik exploits, electro-space, early hip hop, and various points between. The stuff of legend (and hours & hours of pure EFFORT) from a duo of blokes poised on the ledge of something greater." -- Hrvatski

Title: Multiple Grammy Winners
Label: STUD!O K7 (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $6.50
Catalog #: K7 087CDEP
[deleted] "Post album single from the Fakesch/Deluca duo. 4 versions of the song 'Multiple Grammy Winner' by Funkstörung ('Best Unique Original', 'Best Ultratec Instrumentalism', 'Best Powerfunk Beat Attack', and 'Best Gigarhythmic Complexity'), by Funkstörung. Presents slight variations in theme, gradually advancing percussive motifs & digital wankery. CD features a bonus Funkstörung 'video' (essentially the brilliant Designer's Republic album graphics set to motion) which is slightly less appealing in its onscreen 1024x768 compressed quicktime .mov format than the pure-ink hued printed artifact but still stirring nonetheless. Sarcastic anti-sales agenda ("Buy this, Not that. More Sales = more Cash = Bigger Bribes = More Votes = Grammy Winners!") undoubtedly dreamed up by tDR tends to make one a bit uneasy. Rather professional." -- Hrvatski. Limited stock.

Title: Disconnected
Label: STUD!O K7 (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: K7 162CD
"Known for orchestrated, electronic deconstruction, and unrestrained hip hop acrobatics, their new album Disconnected holds true to the Funkstörung coda while simultaneously revealing the duo's passion for pop music in the form of acoustic instruments and dynamic vocals. With an amazing cast of vocalists and their unparalleled production style, Funkstörung have created a jilted, electronic pop masterpiece deeply rooted in leftfield electro and next-level hip-hop. German vocalist Enik is featured on four of the album's tracks, but you'd never know as he transforms from soul singer to indie-rocker, depending on the song. Smoldering vocals are present throughout the album with vocal contributions from Lamb's Lou Rhodes as well as Sarah Jay, best known as one of the voices of Massive Attack's Mezzanine album. Just because they've revealed their love for vocal pop, the men of Funkstörung have certainly not forsaken their affinity for hip-hop. New York MC Tes, who records for Warp's Lex Records flows furiously on 'Chopping Heads' and 'Fat Camp Feva' while Rob Sonic of Sonicsum and German beatboxer Mark Boombastic also tear up tracks on their own. Longtime fans will be surprised and refreshed by the evolution of the trademark Funkstörung sound while an entirely new audience will no doubt be dazzled by the complex pop and funk-fuelled electronics of Disconnected."

Title: The Return To The Acid Planet 10
Label: STUD!O K7 (GERMANY)
Format: 2LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: K7 186LP
"Funkstörung are celebrating their tenth anniversary and, instead of just waffling on about it, they're commemorating their decade of existence with music, as is befitting of their cultural standing. In line with the cover artwork, this mind-expanding birthday cake is called Funkstörung Presents The Return To The Acid Planet, which is being served in twelve slices on nostalgic double vinyl plus, in a sign of times, as exclusive, hypermodern downloads from the iTunes music store. There will be no CD release, as according to the unanimous opinion of the producers, there are already too many. On The Return To The Acid Planet, Funkstörung ponder their own beginnings. In 1995, Unit Moebius, the Dutch industrial techno veterans highly admired by Funkstörung, released the first records by the boys from Rosenheim on their label Bunker Records and, most notably, on its evil twin, Acid Planet. A total of 53 tracks on six mini-LPs, with a pressing of 200, were produced during this phase. When cleaning up their studio, Funkstörung rediscovered used tapes and old vinyl containing the music of that time and they couldn't resist listening to them, just for fun of it. And because Michael Fakesch and Chris de Luca are known as being incorrigibly playful when it comes to music, these oldies, including all the hissing, were instantly dropped into their hard drive for later heavy pimping. On The Return To The Acid Planet, it's those distinctive fuzzy sounds of the 303 and 808 that set the tone for sure. In contrast to ten years ago, the tracks weren't produced on the original equipment, because that's all been sold, in favor of a virtual studio, over the course of time. Instead, they used reverse-engineered reproductions made by the technical experts among their circle of friends. Admittedly, Funkstörung haven't even tried to remain true to the originals. But they have remained true to themselves, by incorporating into them the experiences they have gained from ten years in electronic music production. Though their tracks sound almost antique here, they also bear the insignia of modern, meticulous Funkstörung productions, with all those funky breaks, piles of plug-ins and multiple spiraling acid lines. That's why you don't have to be an adept of the acid era in order to enjoy The Return To The Acid Planet. It's just good fun to take this extremely twisted trip from hoax to madhouse."

Title: Additional Productions
Label: STUD!O K7 (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: K7 R028CD
"Funkstörung first crossed paths when German Michael Fakesch and Italian Chris de Luca met at a techno club in Rosenheim. Their first 6 productions were mainstream techno tracks released under the cult Dutch label Bunker (run by Unit Moebius) under the name Musik Aus Strom. Dissatisfied with the progress with their music with Bunker Records, the hotheaded duo decided to start their own label to gain more control over their releases. During their restructuring, they decided upon the name Funkstörung (meaning 'radio interference') as their production outfit, and assumed the name Musik Aus Strom ('electrical music') as their label name. During those years they developed enormously as musicians, elevating their production style from typical Den-Haag hardcore to more musical listening techno or ambient music. Their complex sound arrangements involve up to 400 different sounds/effects per song, and soon Funkstörung was being labeled as the German equivalents of Autechre." Features their infamous remixes of Visit Venus, East Flatbush Project, Various Artists, Bjork, Finitribe, Wu Tang Clan, S'Apex, plus an exclusive collaborative track with DJ Craze.
