The Berlin based exile-Bavarians, Festplatten label-chiefs and musical-world travelers Andi & Hannes Teichmann, jack us right back on the dancefloor with Yesternight. Known for their eclectic and always crowd-moving DJ and live sets, you'll always hear and feel their love and enthusiasm for music itself. Handmade music plays a big roll in their set-ups and is also a big influence on their productions. Their style is unique, a mixture of played instruments and computer, in which the computer more and more gets a recording and arranging host-system for the surrounding analog park.

Title: The Number of the Beat
Label: DISKO B (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DB 149CD
Gebrüder Teichmann are the DJ brothers Andi and Hannes Teichmann, originally from Regensburg/Germany, and this is their debut full-length release. They were exposed to music by their father, the jazz saxophonist Ullrich Teichmann, right from the early days. As electronic music producers, they founded their own record label, Festplatten, and also release on such internationally-acclaimed labels as Kompakt and L'age D'or. They quickly found themselves becoming DJs in-demand and toured Germany and Europe extensively. In 2001 they also started a cooperation with the composer/zither player Leopold Hurt. In 2002, they joined up with fellow musicians and performing artists to found an art association called Graz e.V, which created not only an inspiring work space but also an independent room for regular exhibitions, symposiums, concerts and other cultural events. The brothers now live and work in Berlin. When the Teichmann brothers are at the decks or playing live, they ride high with the crowd, two guys on a natural high, jumping, raving, always wearing that distinctive Teichmann smile, a euphoria reflected in the music and a smile you can't help returning. The Teichmann brothers play ping-ponging sets with each playing off of the other, consistently unpredictable, yet focused. They dramatically mix genres from minimal to acid, to Chicago, techno, rock and house as one. The Teichmann party -- raved about not only by Berliners and crowds in Hamburg, Cologne and Munich, but even by those in the depths of Siberia. Featuring guests spots by Alice and Martin Haygis.
