This CD is the reissue of the highly acclaimed (Prix Ars Electronica Winner) MiniDisc-only release from 1998, about which was said: "This is the first ever MiniDisc-only release." (Alan Phillips, Sony Software). This Gescom Production, assembled by Manchester's own Sean Booth, Rob Brown (Autechre) and Russell Haswell, conquered the technological restrictions inherent in the MiniDisc format. Battling against the ATRAC compression system, they succeeded in producing a masterful perambulation of sonic experimentation. 45 tracks have been sliced into 88 portions for your ease of dissemble-age. Thus the listener can loop and shuffle at will due to zero seek time. Resulting carnage. Culling together years of source material, MiniDisc is a collection of multi-styled mood music, ranging from full on hip-hop beats to shoe-gazing ambience to bangin'.

Kind of a throwback to the old days, like in 1998 when Gescom released the famed "This" and "That" EPs. Those were mysterious and limited and not soon forgotten -- lesson learned. Gescom are essentially the Skam house-artist and we don't know who they are any more than you do. Beginning its activities in the early '90s, the shadowy Gescom collective has released material shrouded in conjecture and just a wee bit of good fun. Gescom is the more dancefloor-friendly identity for a number of aligned artists to work in various different combinations while remaining otherwise anonymous. Personnel in Gescom has varied from release to release and even track to track, expressing interpretation and social interaction: music as a playground. The Gescom Foundation is a new linguistic object bending natural musics to the limit of their own elasticity. The confrontation between The Gescom Foundation and a natural music is the occasion to explore both musics' structures in a reciprocal movement, mirroring each one's associative features in the distorted image of the others' sound.
