Look Inside
Label:

Format:

Price:
$9.00
Catalog #:
BOOT 002EP
"This is love. Peter Grummich´s debut single on Boot-music (known artist from Kompakt, Shitkatapult and Spectral). A side 'Look Inside' -- sun is rising! These harmonies shelter and carry you on to the next day...and beyond...sensitive one...not to forget the deep, deep dub bassline. No doubt, 1, 2 gimme some space! It's time for yearning, love and aspiration. Soul. AA side 'Danse mystique': there´s two sides of a story: now hear the dark one and do the danse mystique. Precisely programmed percussions, monsterbassline..this track´s drifting through the night and there´s no end -- wide open -- as you rarely experienced before. Best Basic Channel / Perlon tradition."

Therapy EP
Label:
DISTRICT OF CORRUPTION (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DOC 018EP
"Peter has already graced numerous labels with his unique yet constantly evolving studio style. After numerous afterhour situations with the DoC family, we caught wind of Grummich's new productions. We believe that the
Therapy
EP continues the development of Peter's uncompromising underground productions. The title track, 'Therapy' is a nine-minute journey into dancefloor dynamics. Slowly building with concentrated breaks, 'Therapy' works it out and then some. Minimal, sexy and sleek, but at 7 minutes, the listener is surprised with a full on new-rave lead which takes the song in a different direction. 'Get It' is a nice tech-house track with building percussive patterns and highly concentrated synth breakdowns. This track is only for the most sophisticated house DJs that know when to drop a track like this. 'Drymilk' is a seriously twisted hard minimal track. Nasty sound effects and perplexing pitch shifts will keep you guessing."

Therapy Remix EP
Label:
DISTRICT OF CORRUPTION (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DOC 022EP
"DoC brings back one of its heavy hitters, Peter Grummich's 'Therapy,' with remix treatment from two of our favorites Exercise One and Franklin de Costa. After hearing the Exercise One remix of Phil Sherburn's 'Lumberjacking' we knew we had to get these guys on board to do a remix for DoC. Their remix is sparse but remarkably full of energy and tension. XS1 brings a combination of unique digital percussion, lush reverberated effects, stark breaks, and tense pads. Clear and crisp production and an intimate knowledge of dancefloor dynamics makes XS1 a duo to watch. Franklin de Costa has also provided top notch remix work to this release. Franklin's remix pushes with a forward tech house groove and a growling synth bass. But from there, many rules have been broken. Obscure synth sounds and slightly off beat delays create a unique texture and feeling to this remix. An open or partly diminished mindset is required for full understanding of this remix. Dancefloors beware!"

Fresh Air For Fresh People
Label:
KARLOFF (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
KARLOFF 022EP
"Who needs an obtrusively acting kick drum, when the decent wobbling bassline of 'Breezin' does the job just as good? Right -- nobody. Or, at least Peter Grummich doesn't, whose proverbial deepness constantly gets the floors into rapturous body-rolling. Here, all medium-dated orientation to felt (rather than experienced) standards is gladly left to other persons of great hope, while enjoying the border-crossing between dorky monkeyshine and serious spirit of adventure. Consequently, quick-thinking misbehavior is also the attitude of the B-side, where the horizon gets canvassed for both weird and life-affirming sounds, in grasp of the groove. Summarizing: dance music to breathe deeply."

Garden EP
Label:
KARLOFF (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
KARLOFF 026EP
"Deep, deeper, Peter Grummich! This man is on a roll right now, and with every new release you have to ask yourself where this is all going to lead to? However with the
Garden
EP he now already delivers the perfect soundtrack for weeding the beds and waterblasting the terrace -- and for partying hard, of course. 'Beachtrak' prefers its quintessential sub-harmonics to just playing it safe with an up front bass drum, and finally channels its way in a wide arc up to the next level. A hit also for friends of water gardens. On the B-side, Grummich enlarges his melodic skills with a sweet flowery scent of Detroit on the track 'Garden,' and 'It's To Share,' which evolves into a great anthem with just an assumed number of 3 sounds and a couple of snotty claps. We recommend: shoes off and into the record shop!"

KOM 043EP
"With Peter Grummich's new record, an (more or less and so far) unknown artist steps out into the public light. But did someone say 'unknown' here? Actually, he's not really unknown. Over the past few years, he has released a number of records under various pseudonyms. Characteristic of him is the clever way he assembles complex, rhythmic elements to form incredible kicking grooves and intelligent techno tracks that generate a kind of soul out of their brute beauty. or, in other words: Peter Grummich is Lawrence's low-down, big brother.Irresistible also his talent to interweave abstract sounds together thus creating a buzzing whole. New techno, new funk, new soul. On with the show."

KOM 108EP
"When the world is frozen and we still don´t freeze it could be due to peter grummich, that warms our hearts with ecstasising trance sequences. Sunbeams on the dance-sweaty skin. Eleven minutes of whirlpool-feeling without any beat. The title track, 'Frozen World', is a timeless endless-sequencer-trance-track with harmony change. As hypnotic as danceable. Old new school."

MULE 035EP
Peter Grummich
presents two tech-house tracks -- one is old-school Chicago house and the other is deep and minimal techno. Using a galaxy of software and the Korg MX1, Roland TR727, Roland JX8P, Korg MS20, Yamaha TG33 and Yamaha DX7, he displays his deftness in cutting and mixing acid house in pure freestyle action -- breaking boundaries and crafting songs that push the energy onto the floor.

Price:

Catalog #:
STRIKE 060EP
"Peter Grummich, who has released on such renowned labels as Shitkatapult, Kompakt, Sender, Spectral und Musick and remixed Das Bierbeben and Miss Yetti -- to name just a few -- presents the hymn 'A Roboter' taken from his album
Switch Off the Soap Opera
including a remix of Jay Haze. The B-side rocks along with 'You Don't Know' which is also featured on the album and the exclusive club burner 'The Clippers,' a track that Peter Grummich is especially proud of. One can only guess that Peter Grummich's almost 20 years of DJing experience could bring his production work to the far out point where it stands right now. Enjoy it! Whoever believes that all of Germany has sworn off minimal techno, since all that you hear are bombastic outfits with noise, shouts, cuts, ammo and at least one obligatory guitar riff, should hear Peter Grummich's album
Switch Off The Soap Opera

Berliner techno-minimalist guru Peter Grummich's new album
Switch Off The Soap Opera
. After almost twenty years of DJing, Grummich looks a lot like someone who is concealing a shoddy rave monster that crept into him the past decade or so. He likes to wade barefoot in the bass since his is cushioned quite well and is nice on your skin, three or four layers as it is. Grummich trips rather seldom, instead he varies in dance-like tiptoe steps, steady-paced. If he loses his tact the robots are likely to be blamed, showing us that he doesn't lack humor as minimal musicians often like to make us believe. He could have succeeded as a carnie hypnotist with those eyes of his; instead he gazes deeply into the soul of his tracks until they are graced with the hypnotic spark that emanates from his ear. This happens when the layers find their synapse equilibrium in loops, which shouldn't be all too innocent for the brain when those big waves are set in motion. The setting is a bit stuffy since there are a lot of danceable sounds putting the room under pressure, but hey, at least it's never cold. Airing out only occurs when the party is had, which surely comes from a true minimal jump-off of this sort.

Maria (Dirty Floor mixed by Peter Grummich)
Label:
SHITKATAPULT (GERMANY)
Format:
CD
Price:
$15.50
Catalog #:
STRIKE 065CD
This is the first mix compilation at Shitkatapult selected and mixed by DJ
Peter Grummich
. This tech-house ode to partying is being released in order to prove that Shitkatapult and the Berlin club Maria don't merely join forces for live shows, but also love collaborating in high-gloss stereo sound. The story starts in 1998 as the Berliner techno circus of the '90s was slowly suffocating in serenity. The club Maria at the Ostbahnhof was founded by five local artists and geared towards an ambitious concept of "dance music." Heavily emphasizing "intelligent" in the front and "live" programming in the back, club Maria quickly became a home base for art spectacles like the Transmediale or even alternative events to the Loveparade like the Interference Festival. Their booking history has earned a reputation from then until now, known for strong content without boundaries. Shitkatapult's yearly Shitparade is clearly the high point for all those who bust their ass for the label to bring you the right content. This goes for Peter Grummich as well who proved himself as the best choice for this mix comp after his six hour DJ set. His uncompromising style aimed at the party to the point where thunder comes crashing down never gets uncomfortable for the listener. Grummich mixes a compact selection of the best recent releases into a nice sounding invitation to club Maria, leaving ignorant deaf trancers on the sidewalk. The dirty punk-funk of
Ark
, the messy techno of
Matthew Dear
alias
Audion
and the highly-praised
Audio Werner
are also on board as is Maria's subtle house favorite
Leo Cubanero
or Ghostly/Spectral-multifunctional electro/hip-hop bouncer
Tadd Mullinix
aka
Dabrye
aka
James T. Cotton
. Rumors that claimed the Maria had good music but wasn't the place for partying has long since been drowned in puddles of sweat from the wild celebrations ever since. This is a mix that has it goin' on.

Berlin-based Peter Grummich produces three fine dancefloor gems with a French twist.
Rave D'Amour
is a tribute to '90s French rhythms, with elastic playful numbers suitable only for those squint-eyed dancers who don't want to go home. "Weiter" is a minimal mumble rumble monster with refined manners and "Breathe" has a pure, classic acid quality that will give the club a real whallop.

"Peter Grummich is a staple on the Berlin minimal scene, recording distinctive 12"s for labels such as Sender and Kompakt. We were ecstatic to work with him and the results can be heard on this diverse single. From the long-running hypnotics of the title track to the crunchy 'Jakmonster' and late night rumble of 'No Reason'. Grummich declares this 12" to be his strongest overall to date."

SPECTRAL SOUND
Format:

Price:
$6.50
Catalog #:
SPC 032EP
"Peter Grummich follows his massive Spectral debut
Searoom
with
The Roll
, this time bringing a more prevalent sense of melody, but still rock-solid in his mastery of Berlin-influenced rhythms. 'The Roll pt. 1' carefully develops around a scissor-snipping beat and humming, boisterous synth line, slowly adding melodic flourishes and complex percussion arrangements that would be well at home in any European club. 'The Roll pt. 2' stomps and grits its teeth, snapping all the way through with variations on an infectious, buzzing synth theme."
