Artist: GUI.TAR
Title: Deserve It
Label: CARELESS RECORDS (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: LESS 009EP
"Jules Etienne & Alessandro Tartari are the names behind the Berlin-based house music production team, Gui.tar. Their previous releases for Careless & Punkt Music (RIP) went straight into the record bags of DJs like Ata or Ewan Pearson (as featured on his mix FABRIC35) and became secret hits in clubs like Panorama Bar or Robert Johnson. Their sound is indeed very special-ranging from dark soundscapes to deep chords all tied together by clever rhythms and sensitively-placed percussions. This new 12" on Careless is definitely a summertime joint. Very atmospheric, warm and sexy -- made for hot, late-night house sessions. Lordly music for dirty clubs."

Title: Automne ŕ Pékin
Label: PUNKT MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: PUNKT 027EP
"Gui.tar are Jules Etienne and Alessandro Tartari. They met in 2003 and started to make music and play live together in small bars and clubs in Berlin. In 2005 Careless opened its catalog with their first release: Can't Stop / Homeopathic delight. They remixed tracks of 'Sex in Dallas' (Grand Opening - Kitty-yo) and Richard Davis (Common Sense - Kitty-Cuts). They played in Panorama Bar, 103, Golden Pudel, Cox18, Mascherona, 010, Different etc. The guys like it warm and sensual and deliver for Punkt a truly classic 4 tracker!"

Artist: GUITAR
Title: Sunkissed
Label: MORR MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: MORR 032CD
2002 release. This much is known: Guitar, a culture junky relocated to the green void of the German Sauerland,
requires neither introduction nor statement and uses this moniker with a healthy distance and dose of irony for his by
now third musical project (besides majorly-distributed club hymns and his classically-influenced experimental output) to
exhaustively experiment with guitar sounds. At the same time, with Sunkissed, he created an enthusiastic homage to
My Bloody Valentine's Loveless period. A secret fan of the classic utopian thinkers, Guitar, too, explores
the geography of expanses and shifting horizons in his output, keeping a distance to life while cherishing a fascination
for even the smallest detail. He allowed the music of two years to boil down and evaporate, to reduce and grow again.
Garnished with a generous portion of pop and lightened by the heavenly sighs of Donna Regina and Ayako from
Tokyo, Sunkissed translates and transports its references into a euphoric presence.

Title: Tokyo
Label: ONITOR (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $14.50
Catalog #: ONITOR 051CD
The third album by Germany's guitar-devoted Guitar (Michael Lückner, Digital Jockey / Computerjockeys) with the voice of Ayako Akashiba. After the My Bloody Valentine-inspired Sunkissed (on Morr Music) in 2002 and the Japan-only release Honeysky featuring country music guitars and bluegrass banjo hillbilly attacks, Tokyo offers the sound of koto and pipa guitars and is a wonderful homage to the city of Tokyo. Guitars has always been about guitars: layering, cutting out original guitar sounds, duplicating them, modifying them and giving them a new shape. The new CD Tokyo reflects traditional Japanese music, and also the unfamiliar atmosphere a city like Tokyo might present to Europeans at a first glance. Tokyo is built up around the magnifying voice of Ayako Akashiba -- a voice you may know from a track on the Computerjockeys album Plankton and from Sunkissed. Tokyo is a perfect mixture of western pop music, eastern spirituality, impressions of the lively and pulsing Megacity Tokyo and the deep love for music, atmosphere and melodies Lückner and Akashiba do share.

Title: Dealin with Signal and Noise
Label: ONITOR (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $14.50
Catalog #: ONITOR 055CD
Dealin with Signal and Noise is the fourth full-length album by Germany's Michael Lückner (aka Guitar, Digital Jockey), and his second for the Onitor label. On four tracks of the album he cooperates with the Japanese singer Ayako Akashiba (who also worked with him on 2006's Tokyo), and on three tracks he works with the Seattle-based guitar band Voyager One. A decided departure from Tokyo, with its serene koto plunkings and meditative pauses, Guitar has now decided to go the opposite direction into a psychedelic sea-of-guitars sound. Dealin with Signal and Noise is wilder, heavier -- and between the storm of noise and feedback you can hear sirens. But don't be afraid, the fishers around will not be killed and this storm, too, will pass.
