"Playing on the same scene as bands like Amon Duul and Can, German prog rock band Guru Guru was formed in 1968 by one of contemporary music's most talented drummers, Mani Neumeier who, in addition to playing drums, was also the band's vocalist and front man. By the time this album was recorded in 1972, bassist Uli Trepte had left the band to play with Neu! and Faust and was replaced with Bruno Schaab of Night Sun (the stellar German prog metal band). This early live album, recorded in Wiesbaden, Germany in front of a crowd of dedicated fans, is essential listening, featuring two extended tracks, the 28-minute 'Oxymoron,' and the 23-minute Guru Guru classic 'Baby Cake Walk.'" 140 gram LP. "In 1972 Guru Guru played the Wiesbaden Concert Hall where Neumeier, guitarist Ax Genrich and bassist Bruno Schaab (who had recently replaced Uli Trepte) let loose on one of their most classic tracks, the a 37-minute freakout 'Ooga Booga.' In 1973 the discerning folks of Wiesbaden again invited Guru Guru to play, and this time the band - now featuring the formidable Hans Hartmann (arguably Guru Guru's best in a long line of bass players) - regaled fans with tracks from their recently released LP Don't Call Us (We Call You), 'Round Dance' and 'Das Zwickmaschinchen.' Here, also, Neumeier's superlative drumming is given center stage and one can hear why Mani has consistently earned such high praise." 140 gram LP. Triple live CD from Guru Guru. The first two discs feature live performances in German, 1998. The 2nd disc includes a supergroup formation that features the addition of Damo Suzuji, Michael Karoli, Ax Genrich, Ingo Bischof, etc. The third disc in this set is a "special gift" of a live performance from Frankfurt 1971 by the Neumeier/Trepte/Genrich trio. The tracks are: "Der LSF Marsch", "Girl Call" & "Space Ship". It's pretty heavy duty stuff and a nice tip of the hat to congratulate you on wading all the way through discs 1 & 2.

This album, recorded live at Radio Bremen in 1971 features the 23-minute 'Der LSD Marsch' ('The LSD March') from their debut album, UFO. Here Neumeier's superlative drumming is given center stage and one can hear why Mani has consistently earned such high praise. The remaining two songs come from their second album (1971's Hinten): the 22-minute extended prog tribute to 'Bo Diddley' (who knows what the inventor of the 'Bo Diddley Beat' would have thought of this), and the aptly titled 'Space Ship' - an extensive sonic trip of 15+ minutes (!) only found on the bonus CD."
