Connecting The Dots
for the Hamburg-based imprint. Since 2006, H.O.S.H. has been an integral cog in the Diynamic wheel and, as a result, has helped steer house music into unchartered waters. His productions and remixes to date -- for labels like Kindisch, Get Physical, Supernature, Freerange, Strictly Rhythm, Dessous, Tsuba and more -- have blended house, dub, minimal, classical instruments and world music influences with a recognizable deftness and engaging restraint. This is an album made up of ten dancefloor cuts which all exhibit a trademark Diynamic musicality, hinting at H.O.S.H.'s influences up to this point and simultaneously marking out a path into the future of underground house music. Opening with late-night house groover "Hamburg Night" a clipped, propulsive pace is established from the off and male vocals (courtesy of
Ost & Kjex
) adds to the track's sense of rhythm. From there, the deep loops and swollen bass line of "Cash The Chord" make for a gloopy, rich sound which oozes a subtle future funk as it goes. Following on is a track which subtly references the past but importantly, though, H.O.S.H. skews said reference through his own squelchy filter, adds layer upon layer of house texture and makes it very much his own. From there, the album goes through chunky, crisp grooves; complex arrangements and guest vocals from
Mistress Barbara
; bouncy, chord-led jams and intense, bleeping rollers with devilish detail and delightful charisma. More reflective and overtly emotive moments come on "Crackhead," while the shimmering key stabs of "Antonelli Screaming" provide plenty of excuses to stick your hands in the air like you just don't care. Closing out the record is mesmeric, hypnotic builder "Souled Out," which sways to and fro in style and has you nodding along right until the final beat. These are not just a selection of ten mindless dancefloor cuts -- far from it. Instead, H.O.S.H. breathes new life into the dancefloor by taking inspiration from the past and taking it very much into the future. Furthermore, this album is stuffed with all the idiosyncrasies and seductive sonic motifs you would expect from someone of H.O.S.H.'s ability. An accomplished and assured debut,

The latest artist to join the Kindisch fold is H.O.S.H., aka Hamburg native Holger Behn, who brings us a stylish two-tracker entitled
White Elephant
. Holger has always been concerned with making dance music that stretches the very notion of what dance music can be, demonstrating a restless commitment to individuality and innovation in tandem with an understanding for the floor. A-side 'White Elephant' takes the most unusual sound -- that of a trumpeting elephant -- and subtly manipulates it, building up an intricate scaffolding of 4x4 beats in support. A smooth, shimmying bass line keeps things moving while Holger layers the elephant sounds to create gorgeous, powerful chords that sound like a real brass section. Despite its quirkiness, the effect is incredibly subtle, and the aggregation of skippy percussion hits and synth counterpoints give this track a lightness of touch which an elephant could only dream of! B-side 'Don Alfredo' is a collaboration with Adriano and charts the kind of deep house waters that we all like to take a dip in."

"Producer Holger Behn aka H.O.S.H. is back on Stil vor Talent with his third release and second 12" on Oliver Koletzki's imprint. His latest two tracks are all about house music, while always keeping a strict eye on the dancefloor. It starts with the tech-house anthem 'Grünanlage,' the name of a Sunday afternoon open air in H.O.S.H.'s hometown Hamburg that he co-organizes. The tune features a great clappy snare and some wonderful Balearic guitar melodies, which swing over the fast loop. This tune is going to put a smile on your face wherever you are. On the flip there is 'Blaupause,' which translates as 'blueprint' and is a dreamy house-y pusher that keeps grooving with its synthie-stabs and warm bassline. Later in the track H.O.S.H. adds an oldschool piano that pushes the track into another state with its drifting melody. It reminds us of so very many great rave moments. However, H.O.S.H. never gives in to the temptation of drifting off into cheese, stays cool at any given moment and keeps the seal of quality for his music very high. 'Blaupause' is a wonderful summery teaser that never explodes, but keeps imploding! H.O.S.H. once again does what he does best: delivering two wonderfully melodic tracks that fluctuate perfectly between house and techno. Just the way we like it."
