Title: Fholo EP
Label: DEFRAG SOUND PROCESSING (ITALY)
Format: 12"
Price: $9.00
Catalog #: DFRG 012EP
"Defrag proudly welcome Anders Ilar. After spreading his distinct sound on labels such as Plong, Echocord, Audio NL, Shitkatapult, as well as his own Pinesky and with awesome remixes for Apparat, Mikkel Metal and Le Dust Sucker -- here we go with another release from Northern Europe: three tracks with a strong dancefloor appeal created with rough sounds and extremely effective rhythm patterns."

Title: Treacherous & Deceitful
Label: DEFRAG SOUND PROCESSING (ITALY)
Format: 12"
Price: $9.00
Catalog #: DFRG 018EP
"Second output by Anders Ilar on Defrag, this time in collaboration with Hedvall. 'Relapse Boogie' begins with a fat 303 bassline and a stomping bassdrum, slowly the track evolves, through a melodic and reverbered atmosphere, as only Anders knows how to do, bringing to mind the early Maurizio and Basic Channel stuff. Cookie and Milk deliver a more experimental taste: a deep field recording in the background that becomes part of the rhythm. Analog bleeps and clicks and 8 bit percussions give to the track a very personal touch."

Title: Treasure Gardens EP
Label: ECHOCORD (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: ECHO 012EP
"Ilar accelerates the tempo without abandoning the common Dub usage. That's how it feels to be Echocord´s guest."

Title: Ludwijka
Label: MERCK
Format: 12"
Price: $6.50
Catalog #: MERCK LW
"First release on Merck from the renowned Swede Anders Ilar. Some Merck fans may be more familiar with his material recorded for the sister Narita imprint. This release is in the same vein as that material, it hovers around wickedly dark and complex electronics, with complicated beats and programming, but strays from the typical 4/4 dance floor style. The name of the release itself comes from the old spelling of his hometown, Ludvika, which was in use some hundred years ago. This applies to the release because for the source of the tracks, Anders has gone back to his origins, sampling himself from old tapes, including some of the first tracks he ever composed on the piano when he was six years old. He transforms the noises made by animals, nature, humans, instruments and machines into a unique listening experience that takes you back into the Swedish countryside to experience Ludwijka firsthand."

Title: Nightwidth
Label: NARITA
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: NRT 002CD
"Anders Ilar's output has spanned a gamut of electronic styles, from the dubwise techno explorations for Echochord, via the blissful ambience of Everdom through to the deeper abstractions of his Audio.nl pieces. Narita's brief as ever was to keep things down, deep and dirty -- Anders has delivered! 'Radius' opens up proceedings with the faintest stutter and a click, the bassdrum finds its balance and the scene is set for some rambunctious darkside techno -- no prisoners here -- just an unremitting dancefloor killer. 'Rourei' is perhaps even more direct, eschewing even the slightest bodyswerve in favour of a punishing four four regime with sub-bass to die for, topped with a spooked soundtrack vapour of trauma and whispers. 'A Day Ago' begins rotating around a subtle thump and a whirling motif which allows harmony and an almighty classic techno riff to land centre stage almost unnoticed, certainly unsuspected. The kind of open-ended melodic figure which has seen droves hammering on the door of Mathew Jonson for tunes -- Ilar here shows us all how it should be done. 'Dawn' allows the customary fourth track cool-down zone for Narita artists tuckered out after the first three tunes -- Ilar summons up something suitably special -- a lighter spun variation on the monsoon squalls of Chain Reaction, yet more bitter than the Cologne pop ambient confections."

Title: Downhill
Label: NARITA
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: NRT 010EP
"These four brand new tracks are more examples of twisted minimal techno with funked Detroit bass chords through to glacial Arctic ambient beats, and show off exactly what the man does best. It seems over the last few years the Swedish producer has made a name for himself in this scene, releasing on a number of labels, however Narita is the label that will remain closest to his heart and that will always house his finest tracks. With a glacial style reminiscent of label mate Arctic Hospital (who turns in a killer remix for this 12") or Drexciya at their most delicate, 'Downhill' is sure to cause serious dancefloor tremors worldwide and re-affirm the name Anders Ilar in the minds of the great and the beautiful. Nordic techno and house has been out of the spotlight for too long, on the evidence of these tracks they should soundtrack all our Antarctic escape dreams for the winter months to come."

Title: Rendthree EP
Label: PLONG (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $9.00
Catalog #: PLONG 011EP
"Anders Ilar is domiciled in Gothenburg / Sweden. 'Rendthree' is his third release on Plong!. He early starts handling with electronic equipment. He is one of the guys who are standing sometimes at the streets recording the noises of broken cross walk controls, or who name their labels Pinesky, which I first didn't combine as Pine Sky, so someone could suppose that not only ( broken ) electronic environment but also nature has influence on his music. Anders Ilar also has releases on Shitkatapult and Audio.nl."

Title: Missing
Label: PLONG (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $9.00
Catalog #: PLONG 021EP
"'Missing' is a track from the new album The Cold In Between by Anders Ilar / Sweden, released on Plong! In autumn 2006, added with two remixes by Anders Ilar and Bern / France, whose name sounds like the Suisse city, but is just a short version of his second name: Laurent Bernonville. Anders stripped the original completely and rebuilds it with a mighty bassline where Bern starts with bassline and bass drum with the original parts in the background. The atmosphere of his mix is close to the original and makes you feel like flying over the glimmering surface of an imaginary planet."

Title: Replik
Label: SHITKATAPULT (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $8.50
Catalog #: STRIKE 034EP
"Damn Swedes, Shitkatapult gets frosty! 'Replik' is the fitting title this 29 year-old Goeteborger, Anders Ilar, has chosen for his clear gletscher-like winter-techno 12'. Trimmin' up where Edward Scissorhands cut off, Anders seems to be slicing three laissez-faire ice sculptures from Shitkatapult's frigid repertoire. For 'Replik', he finally grabs the ice-pick and carves the name Shitkatapult in big letters up on the shimmering green, iced ceiling of the Skagerak. He does this just in case T.Raumschmiere comes flying through on a wild goose looking for a landing place. The techno bat strikes into the suffocating and echoing surface without sense or hesitation. Fine rips split sound tracks into the depth and hit rock bottom. It's true, northern lights, as them Swedes know, make insomnia a regular occurrence so that depression is met again. Complete pragmatism comes from Sweden and has unveiled itself as a real exported craze in the shape of Abba, furniture, and pornos. The principle is that ideas must work."

Title: Hydro
Label: SHITKATAPULT (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $8.50
Catalog #: STRIKE 042EP
"Anders Ilar is an ol' bastard. First he seduced us with winter-techno and then he gave us a cure in the form of an ambient pill we had to swallow. Now he is packing three completely different tracks onto one 12" for at least 23 dance floors. What's he up to? At least there's DJ fodder for everyone! It is said that freezing to death is peculiarly more pleasant than other fatalities. As if kissed by the Schneekönigin herself, one sinks into self-loathing with 'Hydro' and gets drunk by the hydrostatic depths of the frozen soul-mometer. White cotton-ball harmonies float, suppressed and held by a short line, to the naturally glossed waves of bass-strings made of elk organs as thick as an arm, which simulate osmotic melodies out and about. One used to call it Trance but we hate this word because it was terribly overdone. So we'll take this opportunity to call it Trans: Transporter-Musik."

Title: Ludwijka (Extended Visit)
Label: SHITKATAPULT (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: STRIKE 082CD
This is the fifth full-length release from Sweden's infamous electronic producer, Anders Ilar. Ludwijka (Extended Visit) is an extended version of a small vinyl edition formerly released on Merck Records -- and a wonderful musical trip through dark, but warm territory. Besides the tracks on the original vinyl EP you will find on this CD a 19-minute monster bonus track masterpiece. As planned by Mr. Ilar, this CD does not offer any silence, any break between the tracks, any 3-minute thinking or any deejay friendliness. It's an intense and extended visit into Anders Ilar's world and history -- a sonic rendering of his hometown of Ludvika. As Anders himself describes: "...for the tracks here I used a lot of sounds that I found on old tapes from my childhood ('77-'79) singing and talking and playing the piano or just making noises. So all the little voices you can hear in there are actually me. Then I made some new recordings last year -- I recorded more piano, and I asked my father to play a few tones on his old trumpet. Also some noises from the cat were used. The crow calling was provided to me by Swedish radio for a remix project, and some other bird sounds were found on the Internet. And musically, it's probably inspired by all the music I've listened to over the years. So you see, it's a very personal album for me."
