Artist: JONES, CHELONIS R.
Title: I Don't Know?
Label: GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: GPM 009EP
Originally released 11/26/2003, 2nd release on GPM for Jones. "Like the first release (GPM 004 'One & One'/'Blackout!'), the follow-up: 'I Don't Know?' / 'The Rush' follows the dramatic switch from A-side to B-side (A-side: poppier, B-side: freakier). The melodramatic flush of 'I Don't Know?' kicks directly in the crotch of the typical club-lyric tracks that we are all too willing to ignore; this track calls for our undivided attention...at the same time, our feet never misses a beat! 'The Rush' is the A-side's sinister sibling; the one we are all terrified of, but we're glued to every detail with psychopathic fascination...The 'Sex with the machines mix' is just that, while the 'Raw dub mix' nearly numbs the listener / dancer with its bare understatement."

Title: Le Bateau Ivre
Label: GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: GPM 030EP
Originally released July, 2005. "The first single taken from his debut album Dislocated Genius. 'Le Bateau Ivre' is the closing track from the album, and was inspired in part by Arthur Rimbaud's poem 'The Drunken Ship' -- a seafaring tale of an alluring but nefarious existence, as this writer reads it. Rumbling sub bass, grumbling soundbeds, sci-fi clicks and spacey synths underpin Chelonis' pop-catchy haunting vocal. 'Middle Finger Music' comes on strong with psychotic noise before pulling back to a controlled beat bristling with glitches and evolving into a strong rumbling bassline. Strange but infectiously danceable, bassline mixing with snatches of vocal before kicking off with the uplifting melody and words that are distinctively Chelonis. The Fairy kicks 'Le Bateau Ivre' firmly onto the primetime dancefloor. The rework embraces Chelonis' sugar sweet pop vocals adding strong sub bass and electro flavour." Remixes by The Fairy project (Tiga & Jesper Dahlbäck) and Samin & Michal (Tuning Spork).

Title: Deer In the Headlights
Label: GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: GPM 039EP
With remixes by DJ Hell & Radioslave. Taken from Chelonis R. Jones's debut album, Dislocated Genius, "Deer In The Headlights" is further proof that the American producer in Germany is one of electronic dance music's most talented mavericks. Opening with a repetitive metallic groove, tight claps and a dank, robotic bassline, the track moves to a tripped-out chord progression that juxtaposes modern Italo's darkest excesses and the positivity of '90s trance with the sound of crashing waves. The dub remix stretches out the basic components to create a more DJ-friendly version, while Gigolo boss DJ Hell returns his finest remix in years. Finally, Radioslave, aka Matt Edwards remixes, following a more techno direction, combining hypnotic, textured builds with a gritty, tracky backing and a wide-eyed sensibility that'll appeal to fans of techno's deep, dubby side.

Title: Chatterton
Label: SYSTEMATIC (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: SYST 008CD
This is the second full-length release from Chelonis R. Jones. The American artist left his home of New York for the shores of Europe in order to pursue a blossoming career in the world of arts. Working as a songwriter and playing vocalist in more than 20 rock/pop groups and pulling a handful of small art shows for his paintings were hardly usual. Struggles were many, penury, usual and homelessness -- obvious. Then in 2001, he was introduced and signed to Get Physical Music. His first 2002 12" release One & One, a collaboration with M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade, started the ball rolling. 2003 followed with another 12" release, I Don't Know, which topped the Belgium Dance Charts twice and put the artist on the map, with thousands of broken hearts to respond and relate. Both singles became unforgettable house classics. 2005 saw the ignition of the self-produced, controversial, lo-fi masterpiece Dislocated Genius, and since 2008, he has worked with many giants of electronic music, from Röyksopp to Oliver Huntemann and from Corrugated Tunnel to Marc Romboy and many more. Chatterton is guaranteed to confound more minds than even Dislocated Genius. This is weird, compelling stuff: an unnerving mix of Chicago/Detroit house, R&B crooning, and pure, grinding, tension-filled German beat that rips your heart out. 2009 is Chatterton's year.

Label: SYSTEMATIC (GERMANY)

After countless puzzled-over releases, dramas and mountain climbing, 2009 seems to be the moment for the long player entitled Chatterton and the first single, "Rehabilitation." In honor of his Chatterton full-length, Chelonis R. Jones donates his next manic single called Pompadour. And again, the remixes are as crazy as he is: 8 Bit shooting star Gorge, Mothership's Catz N'Dogz, plus Belgium's Music Man Dimitri Andreas have contributed their outstanding tones on plastic.
