Legendary Turkish rock musician and instigator of the Anatolian rock movement, Cem Karaca was one of the most important rock singers in Turkey during the 1970s alongside the likes of Erkin Koray, Edip Akbayram and Selda. In addition to his poetic and politically charged solo work -- which at one point led the Turkish government to issue a warrant for his arrest -- he also produced and managed Bunalim, one of the most well-known underground rock groups, and created some of the most unforgettable Turkish psych as a member of bands like Apaşlar, Moğollar, and Kardaslar (who recorded 1971's "Ottoman Pop Musical"
Püsküllü Moruk
). He's previously been featured on the
Turkish Psychedelic Music
installment of QDK's classic
Love, Peace & Poetry
series as well as DJ Fabyo's brilliant
Anatolia Rocks
collection, but this mysterious compilation digs even deeper with an array of late-'60s to mid-'70s cuts, all of which are absolutely killer. He is also without a doubt one of the most attractive dudes in the '70s Anatolian rock music scene.
