CD single w/ remixes by Troy Pierce, Shindoe. Plus original version, radio edit, and video track. "Hot on the heels of José González's hit cover version of their brilliant and unique 'Heartbeats,' genius electro-pop duo The Knife will release their new album
Silent Shout
this summer 2006, their first album to receive a domestic release. 'Silent Shout,' the album's first single & title track, is an infectious groove with dark, distorted vocals and steel drum beats -- described by the band as very sad, but hard, beautiful, cold and warm at the same time."

"Already championed by buzz-talkers and tastemakers, Mute announces the release of
Silent Shout
, The Knife's third album and first domestic release. The world of The Knife is precise, particular, dark, occult, peculiar. The mysterious duo work mostly on their own in splendid isolation.
Silent Shout
features The Knife's lurking, textured vocals steeped in a tangled, dark surrealist underbrush. It's is an astounding achievement, intriguing & bewildering, enigmatic and engaging, and never less than compelling. Its jaw-dropping fusion of technology and emotion, circuitry and the soul, melodrama and melody, will leave you gasping."

Tomorrow, In A Year
Label:
MUTE USA
Format:
2CD
Price:
$18.00
Catalog #:
MUTE 9444CD
"An opera based on Darwin's
On the Origin of the Species
. In 2008, Danish theater experimentalists Hotel Pro Forma invited The Knife to write music and libretto for their modern opera,
Tomorrow, In a Year
. The Knife, Swedish siblings Olof Dreijer and Karin Dreijer-Andersson (aka Fever Ray), created a studio version of this opera in collaboration with the English musician/singer Planningtorock and the American musician/singer Mt.Sims as creative family members. They engaged with the Danish mezzo soprano Kristina Wahlin Momme, the Danish actress Laerke Winther and the Swedish pop singer Jonathan Johanson for the vocal parts. These 90 minutes of music by The Knife and their collaborators Mt.Sims and Planningtorock are sparked by the pioneer of natural selection Charles Darwin and his revolutionary evolutionary findings and writings in his book
On The Origin of The Species
. First published in 1859 and based on the discoveries he made on his journey to Galapagos Islands from 1831-1836, aboard the good ship HMS Beagle."
"In November 2009, it was precisely 150 years since Charles Darwin published
The Origin of Species
, a work that describes the biological and geological world, as it has come into existence and continues to do so every single day. Our view of the world has been changed forever as a result of the theory of evolution.
Tomorrow, In A Year
uses Darwin's way of observing and describing the world. Change as a process and the interrelationship of all things is the basic material of the performance."
