Price: $34.50
Catalog #: DPROM 068LP
Limited edition (600 copies) double LP pressed on colored vinyl. Recorded in London, Paris, and Sicily, Ouarda (The Subtle Art Of Phyllorhodomancy) is a travelogue that refuses to stay stuck in any one place for any extended period. The music herein is as diverse as the array of guests involved: Danielle Dax, Maja Elliott, Rose McDowall, Karl Blake, The Legendary Pink Dots' Edward Ka-Spel and Volcano The Bear's Daniel Padden all bestow unique and stunning contributions that soar along with Liles' unique brand of minimal surrealism. Obscure, accessible, incomprehensible and exceptional, Ouarda (The Subtle Art Of Phyllorhodomancy) is testament to the breathtaking production talents of Andrew Liles -- arguably the most vital and original soundsmith of recent years.

Title: Where The Long Shadows Fall
Label: DIRTER PROMOTIONS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $7.00
Catalog #: DPROM 082CD
Dedicated to David Tibet and made in celebration of Current 93's 25th anniversary, this single captures the spectral heart of one of Current 93's defining pieces. Here Andrew Liles' (Current 93, Nurse With Wound) reconstructs what was originally the opening volley of Tibet's "Inmost Light" trilogy. 1995's "Where The Long Shadows Fall" was one of the key moments in Current 93's career. The combination of Tibet's lyrics, some achingly gorgeous music and, most significantly, that haunting loop of the last castrato, Alessandro Moreschi, made for one of the finest 20 minutes of music committed to tape. Only a madman would try and outdo the original, but Liles proves he is more than capable on this single.

Title: All Closed Doors
Label: INFRACTION
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: INFX 006CD
"With a title such as 'Largactil and Dilaudin for the Soul' this newest release from British composer Andrew Liles should give an indication of the eccentricities from where this recording is coming from. One track of stark resonating piano followed by the slow warming of the orchestra that draws you in. Once there, it tip toes, echoes and dissolves with each track re-emerging more fractured than the next. Intricacies of creaks, dull thuds, traditional instrumentation and then subtle ambient drones. All Closed Doors could be the aural equivalent of living in a disused cupboard; dusty and empty -- dark and damp. Perhaps the definitive song on the album, 'What Never Will Be' is a bizarre ghostly version of the 'que sera sera'."

Title: New York Doll
Label: INFRACTION
Format: 2CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: INFX 013CD
"New York Doll is (in part) constructed from field recordings made in Sweden, the Czech Republic, France, USA and the UK. It is a transatlantic recording of parallel universes. Boston MA, USA versus Boston, Lincolnshire, UK. Sounds have been cross-fertilized, genetically modified and decay between locations and events. New York Doll is full of tiny details, nuances and waves of sound constructed from many places and sound sources. Anagrams of time and space co-exist in the music. An impossibly complicated matrix has been constructed for the listener to interpret and unravel. Over 98 minutes spanning 2 CDs of strange and subtle ambience, calming yet uneasy arias interspersed with unexpected clicks and hollow thuds. Voices ask questions and there are no answers. Pretty golden loops cascade into a jumble of drones and geometric acoustic patterns of unfathomable glory that creek, bend, then shatter like falling crystal chandeliers. The fragments scatter and disappear into oblivion. This is a recording that is numerologically correct and anagrammatically active."

Title: Miscellany Deluxe
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: 2LP
Price: $40.00
Catalog #: VOD 061LP
"Much of the music included in this set is exclusive to this vinyl version of Miscellany. Andrew Liles has compiled a comprehensive anthology including as much varied, interesting and unreleased material as possible. He spent many an afternoon sifting through piles of cassettes seeking the oldest and arguably most definitive pieces of music from literally hundreds of hours of tape. The earliest recordings on these discs date back to 1984. 'Find a New Husband' was made on Liles' fathers very cheap Amstrad tape-to-tape system. The tape machine ceased to work properly shortly thereafter. This track was the result or many hours of rewinding and re-playing and re-recording, and thus began Liles fascination, obsession and addiction with tape-manipulation, sound FX and recording techniques. Listening back to some of these works reminds us of the archaic and laborious fashion in which music used to be created and assembled. In hindsight the merits of working with tape compared to digital technologies seem to be the random nature of what would happen. Tape bleed, mishaps, the low-fi quality and errors seemed to give unique and often unpredictable results. Many of Andrew Liles' early experimentations and accidental consequences are included in this collection. Also included are selections from his two self-released cassettes under the name Lividity. The Lividity tapes were given away to friends and sent as demos to assorted labels. Some 20 years later it is very doubtful that any of them exist other than the two remaining copies Andrew Liles has kept tucked away in some forgotten corner."
