"This is Andre Lodemann's second release on his own label, Best Works Records, which he runs with his label-partner Daniel Best. Again, he strives to combine his '90s house music knowledge with the sounds of today, always keeping the equilibrium between a classic American house-feel and Berlin-oriented, somewhat minimal influence. Indeed he has managed to create his own musical language fusing together elements that don't obviously fit together at a first glance or listen, creating a very emotional psychedelic deep sound-tapestry. Both of the tracks on this EP have very contrasting elements and surprising arrangements, combining e.g. piano harmonies with dark, aggressive alarm-signals. Think thriller meets drama. We will not tell you more."

Coming Home EP
is the third installment of the Andre Lodemann Trilogy on Best Works Records. This release includes remixes by Berlin-based Norman Nodge (Berghain Resident DJ and MDR Artist) and Pikaya also from Berlin, who might be known to many due to their single releases on Cadenza Records. Both Norman Nodge and Pikaya are old friends of Andre Lodemann and Daniel Best, who run Best Works Records together. With his 3rd release and of course the previous ones, Andre strives to proove his abilities in electronic production capturing very different sound-scapes that go from a classic vocal deep-house feeling (bwr001) over to what you could call 'musical journeys' with a story-telling character (bwr002) and then moving back to a sample-loop based production style in this release. Also again Lodemann delivers his typical slow build-ups for those who prefer the long mix in the DJ-booth. Both remixes featured here give Lodemann tracks a new twist. Norman Nodge in his more dubby minimal techno style reminiscent of Basic Channel in the old days and Pikaya with their more sophisticated 'dope' - house production."

Andre Lodemann
returns to his own label with his 4th release."The Light" brings back Lodemann's typical dramatic production style, always feeding the listener with intense moments, working to and away from the house-groove. Lodemann has incorporated those typical house-DJ techniques of mixing directly into his production-style. The tune has an overall analog feeling combining discoid sample stabs and piano e-bass. "Subtle Stimulation" brings back a more linear feeling with earthy, wholesome drums and a heavy bass line.

Wanna Feel EP
Label:
SIMPLE (GERMANY)
Format:

Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
SIMPLE 832EP
"André's first release for Simple Records
Wanna Feel
is all about the resonant, hypnotic bass line that steadily opens out to reveal more layers of harmony. Little sounds and licks of melody dance around the bass while strings and stabs build the hook into one big crescendo. Brooks' melancholic strings cleverly cut up the bass line and an eerie soundscape pushes the vibe of the original into a darker, more sinister techno place. This is the lights out, heads down, touch me in the dark kind of groove that we love! Finally 'Move' is an absorbing and patient deep house gem. Plunging into a backdrop of prodded keys that subtly shift in shape and tone, a central synth melody climbs to euphoric climax before retiring back to waves of throbbing bass and rolling percussive loops. Midlands lad Brooks burst onto the music scene with his debut album
You, Me & Us
for Mantis Recordings back in 2002. Within weeks he was fighting off offers to remix everyone from The Human League to Scissor Sisters, and Andy packed a flightcase to DJ his way across the seedier corners of Northern Europe."
