Title: Concerts, Festivals, Shows And Other Special Events
Label: MAGAZINE (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.50
Catalog #: MAGAZINE 004EP
Collaborating since 1999, recently founding the label Magazine and the collective Cologne Tape, this is nevertheless the first time Barnt, Crato and Jens-Uwe Beyer appear together as one formation, simply called Magazine. Living in Cologne for the past decade, with the exception of some years spent in London and Manchester, the group is based on DJ culture and on the German electronic music tradition. This record is pockmarked with overflowing melodies, sometimes well-structured, sometimes wild and wooly. Artwork on high quality heavy stock.

Title: Play
Label: VIRGIN (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $11.50
Catalog #: EMI 87347CD
"Formed by original Buzzcocks lead singer Howard Devoto, Magazine featured a line-up that included Robin Simon of Ultravox, and Barry Adamson, who became a key member of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds before launching a critically praised solo career. Magazine's combination of punk rock's nervous energy and art rock's experimentalism pushed the boundaries of music. Little wonder that this top post-punk group has been cited by today's top post-rock group, Radiohead, as an influence, with Radiohead even paying tribute by performing Magazine's 'Shot By Both Sides' during their Kid A live shows. But Magazine's influence doesn't stop there. It also includes fans like U2's The Edge, Blur, Maxïmo Park, Manus, Manic Street Preachers, Elastica, Morrissey (who covered 'A Song From Under The Floorboards'), and both Ministry and Peter Murphy who each covered 'The Light Pours Out Of Me.' Play is the only live document ever released by this legendary band. Recorded in Melbourne in 1980, it is a veritable live hits collection that also includes tasty extras such as their broodingly sinister cover version of the Sly & The Family Stone classic 'Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin).'"

Label: WIRE-SOUND
Format: CD
Price: $18.50
Catalog #: WIRESOUND 019CD
"First new material in 30 years, No Thyself is the band's fifth studio album. Magazine front man, Howard Devoto, co-formed Buzzcocks with Pete Shelley after the pair travelled down to London to see the Sex Pistols in early 1976 and promoted the now legendary Manchester Lesser Free Trade Hall gigs. Devoto left in 1977, after releasing the seminal Spiral Scratch EP, and created Magazine. Magazine went on to release four groundbreaking LPs before parting company in 1981 and have been cited as influences on the likes of Morrissey, Jarvis Cocker, U2, Muse and, most notably, Radiohead."
