Title: Tinkerbell
Label: BOKA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: BOK 006EP
"After the devastation caused by the last release from Emalkay, Boka sees the return of the mighty MRK1 from Manchester's Virus Syndicate with a big four track EP. With previous releases on Rephlex and Soulja, and a debut album on Planet Mu, MRK1 has staked his claim as being one of the most talented and consistent underground producers in the UK. 'Tinkerbell' builds with quirky sounds, before the lights go out and the dark bass drops. 'Deadman': Tight strings and crisp hi-hats lead the track into a typical MRK1 two note bassline which is backed up my menacing strings. 'Trench Walk': With more gun shots than an average American film, 'Trench Walk' stomps along with low-end anger -- a track for the Boka tank! 'Quiver': The EP finishes off with one of the coldest, darkest electro mood-step tracks of 2006."

Title: Never Warned
Label: CONTAGIOUS (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: CON 008EP
"Contagious returns with another 3-track EP, this time featuring MRK1 and Skream. Track 1 - MRK1 - 'Never Warned' -- A deep sub bass heavy monster that has been doing damage on dancefloors across the globe, with the likes of The Plastician, Hatcha, Kode 9, Skream, Pinch, Geenius to name a few playing it, every time getting a reaction. A tune that has to be heard out loud to understand its full capabilities. Track 2 - Skream - 'Plodder Remix' -- the man of the moment comes up with a huge remix to one of the biggest tunes of last year by MRK1. Currently being caned by all the top boys in the dubstep scene, this one reaches out across genres with its industrial bassline vibe. One not to be missed!!! Track 3 - MRK1 - 'Eye Of Ming' -- MRK1 comes with another Oriental dubstep track. Simple beats and massive basslines make this a tune that is capable of blowing your bassbins away. Another tune receiving a lot of play by the heads of the scene."

"Contagious, now in its 5th year of business, has seen releases from many of the dubstep scene's major players as well as pioneering some of the best new beats. Title: Dubelek/Borderline
Label: CONTAGIOUS (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: CON 020EP
"Manchester's biggest dubstep export marks the twentieth instalment of his Contagious Music with this pair of tough dancefloor rinsers. 'Dubelek' wastes no time, a basic intro of woozy detuned and choice ethnic vocals getting wound up tight before the heavy drop -- big fat halfstepping drums and pinpoint percussion propping up a monster stabbing bassline that filters and mutates as the tune goes on. 'Borderline' complements the A-side nicely, with more lively swinging drums driven onwards by a sick selection of evil wobble bass." -- IDJ Magazine

Title: The Electrician/Move Your Soul
Label: CONTAGIOUS (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: CON 027EP
" Smothered in trademark atmospheric stealth and slither, 'Move Your Soul' has MRK1 making fanfares for imperial squadrons, and intercepting vintage female dance vocals in a hostage situation as he darts in and out of another of his chrome mazes. Remember when Peter Griffin from Family Guy is granted the wish of having his own theme music wherever he goes? MRK1 can conceivably pop round the newsagents to the sound of ominous intergalactic friction. Taken from the potential lipsmacker Sound Of Contagious album, it stands in the gap between dubstep and electronica at its surliest, moving to an easy-to-follow path so that the mass of the situation becomes hard to take on the chin. In other words, it may move freely, but it still casts a serious shadow. Another album preview is 'The Electrician,' which takes the rewiring of plugs to industrially Draconian lengths. Synths are programmed to kick you both in the guts and your fillings as MRK1 walks the plank of spinning blades with a crystal finish, operated by a black-hearted Speak n Spell. Dubstep's jackhammer blur of beats are dodged for a firm putting down of his foot while making the traditional aspect of dub stand out. It's the sound of an extreme version of LaserQuest: complete with pinging crossfire across the bass wastelands, the power-packs are taking the weight of a real ready-to-go arsenal."

Title: Bones/Steppa Delights
Label: EARWAX (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: EAR 005EP
"It's grim up north, eh lad? No matter though, as Manchester's MRK1 pulls out another quality release for us Earwax southerners. 'Bones' is a big-boy banger of a tune -- drop heavy, run for cover bassline business -- no messing about, just draw it back and run again. You can hear hints of Coki and Skream in this one, but there's no mistaking MRK1's tight production ethic and his characteristic sound palette. It might not win many prizes for innovation but there is no doubt that 'Bones' will set off the dancefloor every time. Currently getting plays from Pinch, Skream, Distance, Cyrus and many others. 'Steppa Delights' is a cheeky lil' 4/4 dub number that perfectly crosses into dubstep sets, being at 140bpm. Laid back on every front other than the bass weight, this rhythm is an excellent exercise in gut wrenching sub power and soothing melody -- one for the late night skankers. Being played by old school dub heads such as Dubkasm and new school dubsteppers such as Skull Disco's Appleblim, Pinch, Skream, Distance, Cyrus, Joker, Peverelist, and many more."

Title: Magnetic Device/Revolution 909
Label: EARWAX (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: EAR 009EP
"Very limited supply. DJ Pinch's Earwax recordings always reps the heaviest in dubstep and related. MRK 1 brings his Manchester grime step with a futuristic techno twist. Bad!"

Title: Dirty Dubstep Music
Label: HENCH (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.50
Catalog #: HENCH 023EP
"Having been perfecting his production skills for the last 10 years, Mrk1 is no newcomer to the world of bass-led music. A member of Manchester's infamous 'Virus Syndicate,' he's become internationally recognized as a huge dubstep talent. So when Hench got the opportunity, they jumped at the chance to sign two typically down-right dark and dirty numbers from the man like Mrk1."

Artist: MRK1
Title: Copyright Laws
Label: PLANET MU (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: ZIQ 169CD
"Manchester UK's MRK1 (aka Markone) is in top form on this long-awaited full-length follow-up to 2004's dub-step classic One Way. From the anthem 'The Underworld' (featuring the voice of Virus Syndicate MC Poet Shado) to the Eastern motifs of 'Caveman Boogie,' Copyright Laws brings the early ragga-rave sound of The Prodigy and SL2 into the new millennium with plenty of bass for dub step lovers everywhere."

Artist: MRK1
Title: Going Down
Label: STUDIO ROCKERS (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $9.00
Catalog #: STUDR 012EP
"With two solo albums under his belt, as well as releases with grime collective Virus Syndicate and his own label, Contagious, MRK1 has continued to light the way forward for dubstep & electronic music as a whole. He has also released on such revered labels as Planet Mu, Polydor, Rephlex, Tectonic and Tempa and we are happy to announce that he is now stepping up to deliver some fresh heavyweight cuts for Studio Rockers. On the A-side is 'Going Down', a straight-up peak time dancefloor killer built around an infectiously simple glitchy melody and a dirty south style vocal sample. The A-side also includes a dub mix for those who like their beats and bass undiluted. On the AA, MRK1 switches things up with a completely different flavour in the form of 'Bleep Plan.' Built around seriously heavy, crunching guitar riffs, the track hits the speakers with ominous force, lurching forward relentlessly and not letting up for a second. This is definitely one for the eyes down crew."
