"The concept of this music is the disbanding of sound into its tiniest components... into sound 'atoms.' In the Klanglabor Frankfurt, all different sorts of sounds were sorted out and taken into their smallest parts. After that, they were worked on and built together again to completely new sound constructions. On 'Environmental Atoms,' environmental noise was the source of the sounds, on 'Noise Atoms' it was white and pink noise whereas at the end of the composition sine and triangle waveforms were used additionally. 'Machine Atoms' works on machine sounds and machine-specific processing-parameters. 'Subharmonic Atoms' uses sounds of a world novelty, the Subharmonic Arpeggiator Tones of the overtone row are not fit together to subharmonic chords, as Oskar Sala does, but are generated as freely combinable subharmonic arpeggios. 'Sadness Atoms' is the only track that does not deal with the conversion of sounds, but with the conversion of emotions... completely in the sense of Electronic Impressionism. For 'Audio Atoms,' natural percussion instruments which were recorded in real-time were used and processed."

"This MP3 CD represents a special phase in the history of FAX. Pete Namlook who was on stage a lot during the '80s playing jazz standards and a lot of his own repertoire with his jazz-rock-fusion formation Romantic Warrior wanted to make a difference with the live performance of his ambient/chill-out sound. As a lot of artists in the techno/ambient scene at this time just pressed 'play to start the tape' he sought a greater challenge, composing an entirely new set while playing live on stage. Collecting some sounds during the pre-performance soundcheck and probing for the lowest possible tone that let the glasses at the bar dance and off he went. Often technical problems before and during the set caused trouble, so it was a journey into sound and composition against all odds. All CDs have been recorded live (VI - Zurich, Switzerland, VII - Berlin (Interference-Loveparade), Germany, VIII - Brussels, Belgium, IX - Amsterdam, The Netherlands, X - Ft. Lauderdale, USA and XI - Berlin (Interference-Loveparade), Germany). Recent developments in mastering technology allowed Pete Namlook to improve the sound of the original releases for this MP3 collection by completely remastering each set. Of course, original cover graphics are again included in the 12-page color booklet, and, as all the original releases are sold out, you will find them on the internet only for a lot of money."
