Title: Os Mutantes
Label: LILITH (RUSSIAN FEDERATION)
Format: LP+CD
Price: $27.00
Catalog #: LR 1410LP
"With the release of their debut LP in 1968, Os Mutantes cracked the already red hot tropicalia scene wide open. Fusing traditional Brazilian music, psychedelia, rock and a good dose of pure experimentalism, they quickly became giants both in Brazil and in the outer fringes of pop music, where they have managed to reign supreme for the past four decades. Not an easy task in such a crowded arena. Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Jorge Ben, Tom Ze, and Os Mutantes? What do these people put in their drinking water? The band went on to release several more albums, but this one was their magnum opus. Now with bonus CD of the album!" On 180 gram vinyl.

Title: Dois Mil E Nove
Label: LILITH (RUSSIAN FEDERATION)
Format: 3LP BOX
Price: $64.00
Catalog #: LR 404LP
"One of those rare amazing bands that never became the superstars they were meant to be only because they were not from the US or the UK. In fact, they were from that other musical powerhouse, Brazil, which had not yet been fully recognized as such. In line with the avant-garde movement Tropicalia, from 1968 to 1972 Os Mutantes recorded five brilliant albums drawing from traditional Brazilian music, psychedelia, 60s rock, and fusing it together into the top-secret hydrogen bomb of a new breed of rock & roll that went on to far surpass the bands they were trying so hard to match. And then they disappeared without a trace (until their reunion in 2006), except for their name appearing every now and again as a major influence on this or that famous rock star (Kurt Cobain begged them to do a reunion tour in 1993). This box collects their first three (and best) albums: Os Mutantes, Mutantes and A Divina Comedia ou Ando Meio Desligado, which have gone down in history as some of the best Brazilian music of all time."

Price: $15.50
Catalog #: LBOP 036CD
1999 release. "This compilation features the classic line-up of Rita Lee Jones and brothers Arnaldo Baptista and Sergio Dias, who were together for the first five albums, which were released in the 1968-1972 period. It focuses mainly on the first three albums Os Mutantes, Mutantes and A Divina Comedia Ou Ando Meio Desligado, with a couple of tracks from Jardim Eletrico and Mutantes E Seus Cometas No Pais Do Baurets thrown in for good measure." --Martin Vengadesan

Title: Mutantes
Label: POLYDOR
Format: LP
Price: $14.00
Catalog #: LPNG 44.026HLP
Exact repro reissue on 180 gram vinyl. Originally released in 1969, the explosive second album from Brazil's essential tropicalia band. "The most blatantly psychedelic of these three albums with warped references to traditional Latin American music. More of a heavy rock sound is present here than on the debut, with plenty of scuzzy psychedelic guitar work, and a Moby Grape vs. 13th Floor Elevators mood. Blended as per Mutantes usual with an assortment of odd-sounding electronics, and samba dance rhythms."

Format: LP
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: LPNG 44018HLP
180 gram exact repro reissue, officially licensed from Universal. "Absolutely brilliant debut from 1968 with a wild & crazy mixture of psychedelia & Brazilian music, with killer fuzz guitars, effects, Beatles influences. An incredible set of great songs that sound today even more fresh and modern than in 1968!!! Includes an astounding fuzzed-out cover of Jorge Ben's 'A Minha Menina.'"

Title: Jardim Elétrico
Label: POLYDOR/UNIVERSAL
Format: LP
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: POLY 2451002HLP
180 gram exact repro reissue, licensed from Universal. Originally released in 1971. "One of the absolute highlights of the album is the humorous 'El Justiciero,' which features Spanish lyrics and also some Spanish-style guitar play. Other great songs are 'Tecnicolor,' which has lyrics in English, the melodious and slightly Beatlesque 'Virgínia,' and 'Tudo, Tudo, Tudo,' a song that features a bluesy mouth harmonica. On these and other tracks on the album, the music of Os Mutantes is just as playful and creative as ever." -- All Music Guide

Label: VINYL LOVERS (RUSSIAN FEDERATION)
Format: LP
Price: $30.00
Catalog #: VL 900211LP
"Fusing traditional Brazilian music, psychedelia, rock and a good dose of pure experimentalism, with the release of their 1968 debut, Os Mutantes quickly became giants in the outer fringes of pop music, soon reaching mythic proportions. With their second album, Mutantes, released in 1969, the band continued in this same vein of boundary crushing, featuring tracks like the futuristic 'Dois Mil e Um.'" 180 gram virgin vinyl.

Title: A Divina Comédia Ou Ando Meio Desligado
Label: VINYL LOVERS (RUSSIAN FEDERATION)
Format: LP
Price: $30.00
Catalog #: VL 900389LP
"Third album, released in 1970 from these geniuses of wacked-out Brazilian psychedelic rock. They may have been trying to pay homage to their better-known icons back in the States, but in doing so created something that went beyond all that until, 30 years later, they became the ones that everyone was trying to imitate. This album, further testimony to their limitless creativity, and considered by many to be their best, was recorded during the height of the Brazilian military regime's crack down on artists, and fellow members of the Tropicalia movement, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil had already been sent into exile in the UK." Remastered reissue of the original 1970 album, 180 gram virgin vinyl.
