BLACKMARK 001EP
"Autumn 2008 sees the launch of London's well known Black Market Records label by its original founder Rene Gelston. For the last five years, Rene has been living in Toronto where Black Market gained 'promoters of the year' on a number of occasions. Now back in London, René aims to take Black Market forward and back in the right direction. He could not do better than pick Todd Osborne for its first release. Todd has been championed across the board, by everyone from Gilles Peterson to Aphex Twin (he records as Soundmurderer for his Rephlex label), from UR's Mad Mike to Warp's Flying Lotus and is still in good remembrance with his thick album released on Ghostly International. 'Air Pistol' is taken from that album and this is the first time it is available as a single 12" for European release." Includes an exclusive Osborne remix of this track, as well.

Osborne
is a Lego-sculpting, electron microscope-owning, Japanese speaking über-producer. He is, in fact, house music's MacGyver. Todd has been championed across the board by
Gilles Peterson
to
Aphex Twin
, from UR's
Mad Mike
to Warp's
Flying Lotus
. This 12" was written on his own music software on a hand-built computer, and is a testament to a life of walking the walk. Pure dancefloor-ready house that provides a taste of much more to come from this up-and-comer.

Osborne
is
Todd Osborn
, and this is his debut full-length release for the Spectral Sound label.
Osborne
is a celebration of all that is good in American house and techno music: past, present and future. This Lego-sculpting, electron microscope-owning, Japanese speaking über-producer puts the joy of life and the art of making into his music. Todd fixes and flies planes, has fabricated a video game kiosk out of hospital equipment, and is finishing his hovercraft as we write this. We could call him house music's MacGyver. Like a personal sketchbook of Todd's musical history, the album evokes the sensation of an electronic yesteryear, where dance music production was treated with a wide-eyed sense of discovery. The tracks "Ruling," "Outta Sight" and "Afrika" are strutting dance epics, but the album also shows a side of Todd that is geared more for the homefront too. Todd has been championed across the board from
Gilles Peterson
to
Aphex Twin
(he records as
Soundmurderer
for his Rephlex label), from UR's
Mad Mike
to Warp's
Flying Lotus
. This album, written on his own music software on a hand-built computer, is testament to a life of walking the walk.

One of Ghostly International's compilation standout tracks "Wait A Minute" by
Osborne
is back by popular demand. The extended mix has an irresistible Rhodes-based hook and ubiquitous talkbox which noodles into
Arto Mwambe
's remix, which squishes the track's exuberance into an understated slice of handclap-house. On "Fire," Osborne spins scratchy lite-funk guitars and violins into an elegantly-arranged disco number. "The Count" closes things out with fat 'n dirty techno tones that are decidedly of-the-moment.
