Guerssen Records reissue this awesome second longplayer by Welsh psychedelic folk-rockers Pererin. Originally released in 1981 on the Gwerin label, this is an album of traditional Welsh folk meets rock, with psychedelic guitar leads, flute, and male and female vocals. For many this album is the band's best work, and it's definitely the rarest one. Definitely one of the best albums of the genre. It's another brilliant set of traditional songs played in their very own contemporary electrified folk style. 6- and12-string guitars, bass, mandolin, synths, mellow percussions, flute -- this might well be the folkier of all their albums, but there's still a strong progressive feel on it and some killer electric guitar leads. Another must-have for anyone into folk-prog, this is the last of the band's vinyl offerings, originally released in 1983 and followed only by their last work released on cassette. Welsh folk prog group Pererin are still not known to have released a 4th album in their career, and that's because it was only released on cassette, and most of the copies remained shelved without distribution. But it's a wonderful album and Guerssen Records rescues the music on this reissue. Released in the mid-'80s, Yng Ngolau Dydd is the most traditional work by Pererin. On this one you won't find electric guitar or keyboards. This is much more traditional Welsh folk, with strong use of mandolin, as well as electric guitar, percussions, violin and some flute as well. A strong album, featuring some tracks that might be among the best of the group's whole repertory, like the instrumental closing track, which still has the relaxing prog feel of some earlier works. Now released in limited CD-only pressing, with master tape sound and new artwork.

Easily one of the most exciting psychedelic folk-rock albums from the UK, this is the debut disc by Welsh fellows Pererin, originally released in 1980. Entirely sung in the Welsh language (like all their discography, all available through Guerssen), this definitely has the most '70s sound of them all. Features lovely male and female vocals, strong Celtic influences, and some added great electric lead guitar, as well as fantastic flute and violin work. A total masterpiece in the folk-psych/folk-prog genre, definitely for fans of Pentangle, driving folk-rock, and pastoral balladry -- featuring some stunning original artwork as well.
