Title: Shakey
Label: THRILL JOCKEY
Format: CD
Price: $13.00
Catalog #: THR 154CD
"Pit er Pat is Rob Doran (bass, vocals), Fay Davis-Jeffers (keyboards, vocals) and Butchy Fuego (drums, vocals). There was something striking about the dynamic of the sound the three of them made, something unusually compelling about this rhythm section. Without the singer/guitarist, this sound allowed the space to be heard. The end result is a constant propelling of rhythm and melody steeped in innumerable influences and emotions. Like the Hairy Who movement the band so admires, Pit er Pat can be described as an expressive work of fantastic adventure; compelling, arousing and mysterious. Recommended to fans of The Raincoats, early Soft Machine, New Age Steppers, Slap Happy and Blonde Redhead."

Title: Pyramids
Label: THRILL JOCKEY
Format: CD
Price: $13.50
Catalog #: THR 176CD
"Pit er Pat is the Chicago-based trio of keyboardist Fay Davis-Jeffers, drummer Butchy Fuego and bassist Rob Doran. When approaching a title for the new album, the follow up to 2005's Shakey, each member of Pit er Pat remembers coming across pyramids in various forms: in random images they encountered, in the course of personal reading, and even in their own drawings. Pyramids were everywhere it seemed, and the strength and symbolism of that shape clicked for the band with the themes of the new album and their nature as a three-piece. Powerful rhythms provide the solid floor for ethereal melodies and layers of textural samples on Pyramids. Contemporaries describe Pit er Pat's sound as distinctively modern and fresh."

Title: High Time
Label: THRILL JOCKEY
Format: CD
Price: $13.50
Catalog #: THR 208CD
"Pit Er Pat is Fay Davis-Jeffers (vocals, piano, guitar, kalimba), Rob Doran (bass, vocals, guitar, electronics) and Butchy Fuego (drums, vocals, percussion, electronics/programming). High Time was recorded at the band's own studio, 'Top Cat,' by Butchy Fuego, who has also recently recorded Soft Circle and Matteah Baim. From Shakey to Pyramids, from '3D Message' to 'Feel No Pain,' Pit Er Pat's recorded output has no easily-definable style. It instead represents their evolution as modern musicians, whose affinity for pop and melody is filtered though their desire to have a truly singular voice. Modern music, if you will. The band are clearly comfortable with the fact that this music acknowledges several, yet exists outside of any one, genres. There is a consistency in all of the recordings in that they are all unmistakably Pit Er Pat. Their musical focus remains firmly grounded in rhythm, while incorporating a strong sense of melody and harmony to dance above the complex rhythms and to stretch the layers to lofty heights."

Title: The Flexible Entertainer
Label: THRILL JOCKEY
Format: CD
Price: $14.00
Catalog #: THR 231CD
"The songs on The Flexible Entertainer were written specifically for a European tour highlighted by an appearance at ATP, so Pit Er Pat, the duo of Butchy Fuego and Fay Davis-Jeffers, took a different approach. Writing for a live show, they wanted the energy to stay consistently strong and high throughout the set. It was an experiment in simplicity. Simplicity of instrumentation. MPC, guitar, voice. Two people who wanted to travel light. They added a kick and snare drum for physicality. Upon return from the tour, the band started recording. As they heard some of the songs, they added more instruments on some, and more vocal harmonies, vocal loops, and things to fill it out and hook it up. But generally, the pieces were as they were in the beginning, with the exception of 'Intro' which was made one day in the studio after thinking about a vocal loop that they used to start their sets with. The end result is The Flexible Entertainer. The album was recorded by Butchy Fuego and Blue Hawaii at Shape Shoppe Studios in Chicago, with additional recording by Butchy at Top Cat International. It was mixed by Butchy at Top Cat Int'l. Dave Cooley mastered it at Elysian Masters and all instruments are played by Butchy and Fay. The instrumentation is electric guitar, synthesizer, voices, kick drum, snare drum, crash cymbal, hi hat, MPC, melodica, conga and cuica. The new material was mostly recorded live and incorporates electronic and acoustic drums seamlessly. The energy is high and exhilarating. Play it multiple times at high volume for the best listening results."
