This is the debut full-length album from
on Compost Records. The story of Pitchben is one about consistency. It's the '80s. A young boy is growing up to the soundtrack of electro funk, drawing influence from the likes of
, developing a genuine passion for music. This root of funk has been a constant since his childhood. Exploring new territories in the '90s, Pitchben, known as
at the time, started to DJ and produce at the young age of 13. Working the turntables like an instrument, he became one of the key figures in the world of scratching and turntablism. In 2002, he won the German DMC finals with a scratched interpretation of
's "Street Dance." Since this rather intense excursion, Pitchben has been focusing on production, sound-design and audio engineering, crafting his own music and also co-producing the works of other artists such as six-time DJ World Champion,
. Unsatisfied with the home-studio path that has been taken by most contemporary musicians, it is has become his mission to not only bring back that authentic '80s sound, but to join the authentic production style of that era with a modern touch. This means: real scores for authentic string and brass sections were recorded by top-notch musicians while the featured vocalists present skill levels easily comparable to those of '80s singers. This teams up with huge synths and drums, creating the fresh, big sound that can only be produced in a modern studio environment. In 2010, Compost Records signed Pitchben for a full-length album immediately after receiving only a two-track demo. Pitchben is currently preparing for live appearances consisting of a DJ set and a full stage show featuring a live guitarist, electric bass player and vocalists.
's debut album
(COMP 380CD) garnered respect and massive props from press and party folk, went straight into the top 10 at Beatport and RA charts and was voted best "disco" newcomer in 2011 in DJ Mag and Trax. Finally, the first remix package is ready to emphasize the quality, sexiness and extravagance of Pitchben's discotheque.
Tiger & Woods
deliver slick, shapely remixes of "Stand Up" and "Keep Giving Me Love."
Here comes the second remix package of Munich's true disco entrepreneur,
, of tracks off his
album (COMP 380).
's remix is idiosyncratic, slinky deep house at its best.
liked Pitchben's music as well and delivered a wonderful, peaceful, lover's midtempi remix. Also, electro-house funk don
performed magic that should work well on (m)any floors. Last but not least,
donated a typical, krazy tech-disco banger.
