"Psychedelic folk duo, formed by brothers Dimitri and Negendre Arbo. They were part of a set of folk groups comprised of 'gaúchos' (native country people) that appeared in the 1970's, with groups like Almôndegas (minced meat balls), Utopia and Grupo Terra Viva (Alive Earth Band), and continued to exist in the 1980's with groups like Tambo do Bando, Couro, Cordas & Cantos (Leather, Strings & Songs) and Quintal de Clorofila (Garden of Chlorophyll). Most of these bands did not make records. Quintal de Clorofila is one of the few who got to make a record, which was released by the independent label Bobby Som in 1983. For this LP, titled O Mistério dos Quintais, Quintal de Clorofila recorded their own compositions, with lyrics by their brother, the poet Antônio Carlos Arbo. According to Dimitri Arbo, the band mixed jazz, rock, medieval music, Afro, oriental and Latin rhythms; they named their kind of music 'Viking Rock'. It's a complex sound to be sure, with tremendous depth and abundant inspiration evident throughout all of the album's atmospheric songs. An album much beloved by Hans Pokora -- and now by us. Two alternate versions of songs from the album are included as bonus tracks."
