Title:
Kroy Menya V Pol Bita
Label:
FEAR OF FLYING (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
FOF 006EP
"'Kroy Menya' had been in our record boxes since it first appeared on SCSI-9's excellent and highly-acclaimed
Digital Russian
LP back in 2003. Liking it as much as we did we though it'd be rather nice to give it a leg up into the year 2007 with a nice lil' remix package. So firstly we employed the services of Moon Harbour starlets and all round good uns' Luna City Express to give it a rub-down in the form of their 'Lovely Luna People' remix. Starting with hints of the original melody and vocal line, it then drops into a deep rolling b-line, giving it a nice chuggy feel before slowly raking up the tension with an intense, twisting synth line. Flip for the original mix. Typically SCSI-9 in feel, it just grooves along in a melancholy way with subtle melodies and the vocal line which gives the track its title. Finally, we asked the provider of our last release, Pawas, if he could do the remix honors. Staying much truer to the feel of the original track, he sets about giving it a subtler feel with a funked-up clave to provide the all-important groove before dropping into a synth-laden break."

Catalog #:
HIGH 031EP
"On our journey within the global minimal house orbit; we are happy to pick up Russian tech-house Kosmonauts unit SCSI-9. Anton Kubikov & Maxim Milutenko alias SCSI-9, known from their releases on Kompakt and elsewhere, gave us two charming tracks, to spread their glowing vision of Moscow's electronic starry sky into the global village. On their debut EP for Highgrade they come up with their more house-y side: two lighthearted but deep tracks, touching Detroit landscapes, as well as Berlin/Cologne and French ones and adding their very own touch, beautiful! Tom Clark couldn't resist to remix such compelling stuff and created a track a la John Tejada, something between minimal house, pure energy and tech disco, Highgrade at its best!"

K2 018EP
"On the road you get to have the best ideas. After their unmistakable melodious album
The Line Of Nine
on Kompakt they come up with a new single. The travel goes slimmed, rhythmically driving and accelerated to the dancefloor. As usual, the two showpiece-russians Anton Kubikov and Maxim Milyutenko do not lose anything from their detail-loving and high production standard. Three crunchy, fresh tracks for blue nights in red trains."

Price:

KOM 081EP
"It should not be necessary anymore to introduce this Russian wonderkid to the public. His numerous releases on respected labels like Traum, Trapez, Salo, Freizeitglauben, Force tracks and others can be found in every record box from here to Novosibirsk. With 'All She Wants' he undoubtedly delivers his ripest production to date. A strong piece of emotional, driving techhouse with a highly recognizable vocal sample some older people should have heard somewhere before... This track has truly mesmerizing qualities when it comes to open the audience's hearts. On remix duty we find two of the most promising producers around these days. Known through his incredibly creative outputs on Musik Krause, Robag Wruhme transfers the original into a fierce shuffle monster in its own right. The Wighnomy bros add an excellent light weight minimal house version and everybody who checked their latest Freude Am Tanzen outing 'Bodyrock' should start mouthwatering now. It's the new breed here, ready to conquer your attention. For now and ever."

Anton Kubikov

Maxim Milyutenko
are old veterans of the Russian club scene, with over 20 releases on Trapez, Morris Audio, Force Tracks, Kompakt, and so on.
On The Edge
contains three tracks, three essential pearls of techno-pop that couldn't be more perfect or more beautiful. Melodious and danceable. Infatuatingly elegant. Salacious, but still possessing a classy restraint. How tender these Russians can be. Heavy rotation, man.

Catalog #:
KOM 138LP
Double LP version. Kompakt veterans
Anton Kubikov
and
Maxim Miluytenko
have traveled far since embarking as Moscow's most endearing minimal techno/house act SCSI-9, and this is their second full-length release. From Salo to Force Tracks, Trapez and beyond, these lads have captivated DJs and dance floors around the world with their remarkable ability to construct an uplifting, emotive mood fuelled by the pulse of the unprejudiced, techy beat. Dance music has evolved to astronomical proportions over the past years in Russia and SCSI-9 have managed to keep on top of it; whether it be hosting international talent or through their overlooked label imprint Pro-Tez, their contributions and dedication to the growth of the minimal scene there is immeasurable. And now it's time, though they've kept the vinyl purists intoxicated with a steady stream of 12" singles, it's been over 3 years since their debut album
Digital Russian
(Force Tracks), and they've come up with their most accomplished work to date with
The Line Of Nine
. This new release puts forward a fantastic cluster of dimension and depth to an overpopulated world of disposable, faceless music that exists in minimal techno currently. Fans of SCSI-9's Force Tracks days will be delighted to indulge through tracks such as "Eclair De Lune" that whispers the early-20th century's magic of minimal-house with a delicate twist of classic piano and sweeping synths. The vocal ballad that echoes throughout the title track, "The Line Of Nine" reminds of
Herbert & Dani Sicilliano
's finest moments -- pure coffee-house bliss.

And of course for those yearning for the traditional values of classic Cologne techno, fear not, as the latter part of the album (including the single "On The Edge" -- one of Kompakt's biggest singles of 2005) they raise the roof and bar for many of the local Cologne community.

PRO-TEZ
Format:

Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
PROTEZ 006EP
"Overview: The sixth installment of the U.S./Russian Pro-Tez label is a three track
Flight Mode
EP by label bosses SCSI-9. Now Russia's oldest minimalheadz release an EP on their own label -- for the first time.
Flight Mode
presents three tracks made during their recent journeys over Europe and South America. Created somewhere between Florianopolis and Subotica. The title track truly starts off with full-speed flashing one back to famous tunes. More dubby but with some edge lines on 'Walking Through The Fog' will keep fans spiced up with clicks and synths. Free from everyday workout, a bit apart from the usual Kompakt-esque sound, but these works retain a distinct lyrical touch, which made SCSI-9 loved for -- especially 'Submoon,' featuring a deeply arpeggiated piano solo. Due to the small print-run, this record may soon become a phonographic rarity. A must for all SCSI-9 fans."
