Title: Pen Caps And Colored Pencils
Label: FOUNDSOUND
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: FOUND 001CD
This is the debut full-length release by Philadelphia's Sean O'Neal (aka Someone Else), following several acclaimed EPs. Once his tracks became heavily played by the international trendsetting DJs we love so much, Someone Else turned himself into a producing machine and he pumped out a countless array of tracks that incorporate his unique sound design -- and with so many remixes under his belt, one might say he's the Armand van Helden of the minimal scene. Several of his tracks and remixes have been featured on mix CDs curated by DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Steve Bug, Adam Beyer, Frank Lorber, and many others. Pen Caps And Colored Pencils is a 12-tracker that offers a more developed side of Someone Else. And whether it's mumbling, chanting or downright singing, his own voice is often disfigured and sparsely scattered throughout the album. Tracks like "Play It Kershaw" and "Threadbare Snare" offer a more stripped-down, tracky and DJ-friendly side of his goofball minimalism. "Pooty Call" is a dark and moving clickhouse gut-stretcher. "Funky Fromage" and "Mi Lápiz Es Amarillo" offer an electro side to the witty frolic. And ditties like "Family Unties" and "Oh Sean" (both CD only) dive deep into submerged dubby-ness and laid-back psychedelia. On Pen Caps And Colored Pencils, Someone Else finally brings his unique, organic, sampladelic style to CD for all electronic music fans, whether they're shaking their booty in a club or listening at home.

Title: Lowdown Brittle EP
Label: FOUNDSOUND
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: FOUND 013EP
The Lowdown Brittle EP is a pre-release for Someone Else's full length, Pen Caps and Colored Pencils, featuring one track from the album along with remixes by Fusiphorm and Josh Wink. "Lowdown Brittle" is deep and groovy with a snazzy, funky bassline mixed with more chopped voices, reverbs, delays, squeaks, crunches, blips and bleeps. Fusiphorm reworks the deep and heady tune into a tracky, minimal DJ tool. Josh Wink's remix is nearly 12 minutes long -- driving with a minimal beat and layered percussion. Voices from the original are cut up, pitched, and heavily reverberated. A sweeping synth bassline rips your guts out.

Title: Kitchens And Cacti EP
Label: GLUCKSKIND SCHALLPL. (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: GLK 009EP
"Time to remember: the rolling glass bottle in all its time- and mind-bending frequency fullness that opens the phenomenal Water In Mexico. It was the first record that Someone Else, field recording master mind genius mother god of invention, churned out for Glückskind Schallplatten a couple of years ago, and it still sounds as fresh and crisp as a mountain spring fountain quenching a raver's post-dance marathon thirst. Leaving us in a constant state of higher euphoria as he is never one to refuse the call of reinvention and innovation, Berlin dweller Sean aka Someone Else has gone deep. His new outing, the Kitchen Song, is carried by a solemn profoundness seldom found in such a funky context. Talking of which: Sean's music, almost always fun loving rump shakers- his interest in moving the lower parts of the body is of much more than just anatomical in nature -- is famed for its subliminal shuffle basses that carry you right through the night, thanks to an absolutely empowering, warm groove. What actually went on in that kitchen, and which sumptuous stir-fry low-down went on to get these frequencies, we will never know. Also quite a mystery: Sean's fascination with cacti. These spiky little desert dwellers seem a constant source of inspiration for Someone Else, who even manages to get field recordings of the sound of grass growing. Just as gripping: the breath of a cactus. Bass-laden and pressurizing, due to its steam-infected deep, rolling grooves that swirl along in a giant space filled with field noise and sound recordings."

Title: Water In Mexico
Label: GLUCKSKIND SCHALLPL. (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: GLUCK 002EP
"Sean O'Neal, better known as Someone Else, currently has an immense output of music. The latest record from Glückskind doesn't break ranks, it maintains the beat and delivers the groove. As expected, Someone Else creates an 8 minute masterpiece for the new release. 'Water In Mexico' involves a male staccato vocal line, and a scratchy bassline emerges as well. The snare maintains the rhythm and sways with the beat. The remix on the B-side is provided by Marek Hemmann. He creates a minimal reduction of O'Neal's track and adds a completely new bass groove. You can feel the joy in his work throughout the remix. Tiny breaks add to the euphoria. It radiates in its interaction from the original sounds, and you can't help but move to this incredible club hit."

Title: Fresh Air
Label: NUMMER-SCHALLPLATTEN (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $9.00
Catalog #: NUMMER 013EP
"Nummer is very pleased to introduce Someone Else. After Sean's successful remix for Nummer #12 'Naxos' (Someone Else's Beaver mix), the co-founder of Philadelphia's Foundsound, Unfoundsound and Tuning Spork record labels returns on Nummer with 'Fresh Air.' Brace yourself for two minimal and pumpin' monster tracks that are 100% dancefloor killers. Each tune is heavy with choppy samples of talk radio, mind-numbing reverbs, butt-shaking basslines and snappy percussion. Mmmmm...can you taste it??"

Title: Witty Little Wawa EP
Label: ROMAN PHOTO (GERMANY)

Catalog #: RP 001EP
"This 3 tracker is fully on in sound, musical aesthetics and diversion and way above much of the boring noodley schrott released these dayz. Three high density tracks that will all be played out and are ready to go further. Loud, thrilling, clicking intense, wild pitching. A strong statement. Congrats folks, you guys are not just 'Someone Else' and this is not 'Little.' At all."
