Title: Look Who's Stalking/Zero Balance
Label: COCOON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.50
Catalog #: COR 067EP
Steve Bug follows up his Collaboratory mix with this superb 12" for Cocoon. While "Look Who's Stalking" uses the raw energy of Chicago/Detroit house with driving hand claps, percussions and nasty vocals, "Zero Balance" is an experiment in how far you can reduce tech-house to the essence of a bass line. Short vocal loops complete a sensibility that makes Bug's tracks such high quality music.

Title: Best Kept Secrets 2
Label: DESSOUS (GERMANY)
Format: 2CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: DES 014CD
The second volume of Dessous' Best Kept Secrets compilation series takes an extravagant leap into the current and future sound of Dessous spread out over 2 CDs, including 10 full tracks and a superb, detailed mix by Steve Bug. Heading off the journey on CD1 is David Durango with "Striptease" and also his unbelievable "Human." You'll then pass through the delicious phases of Ryo Murakami's "Off The Wall" -- an exclusive track that takes a deep, extended trip into modern Chicago house. Continuing that vibe, the modern bounce of René Breitbarth's "Le Groove Rhodes" will have you in raptures. Moodymanc serves up his very special "Omlette," with Dplay providing remix duties to perfect effect, while new cat Andrade contributes an exclusive track of cheeky, bumpin' house. Burnski hands in a tweaking, jacking jam that's full of top-class production and smooth, pushing house elements; while newcomer Claire Ripley adds her refined touch. Closing the first CD, you'll find Graeme Clark's (aka The Revenge) ecstatic slo-mo-house version of Ryo Murakami's "Just For This." None other than Dessous man-in-charge, Steve Bug mixes the second CD which is positively packed full of unmissable tracks. Clocking in around the 70-minute mark and throwing up 15 extra tracks into the mix, it's an absolute burner. Opening with the haunting tones of Breitbarth's "Detective," the mix segues into the compilation's third new exclusive cut in the form of Tigerskin's "Voodoo": bizarre vocal wanderings and chunky beats set the tone from here on in. Robert Owens backed by Berkson & What join in, and Matthias Meyer's psychedelic remix of David Durango's "Perfect Day" rushes through. Running into depth-charge house with Moodymanc's "Snore" and Sascha Dive's "Secret Dub" of Two Armadillos', you'll be enthralled as Steve Bug masterfully holds the reins tight! Two cuts from Claire Ripley feature, including Gorge's hotly-drummed remix of "Labyrinth," and also her original hypnotic "Utopia." Steve drops Langenberg's "Alternate Rhythm" before Solomun's "Woodstep" creeps onto the stage. There's another fantastic Burnski cut, and Ryo Murakami's mix of Innocent Lovers burns through before the closing bars of Moodymanc's "Omlette" completes the blend. It's a classic mix, seamlessly displaying the vast array of talent available on the ever-growing Dessous imprint.

Title: Sensual
Label: POKER FLAT (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: PFR 007CD
"Germany's minimal dance conaisseur has done it again with his eclectic 3rd solo album on his young but already famous Poker Flat imprint. Whatever secret ingredient he has been using, the recipe always works and he always hits the mark with precision. But even though Steve Bug is something like a treasured gem in the heart of innovative electronic house music and someone like him literally can't mess up, it took him nearly forever to put this baby to bed. Studio producton breaks due to never-ending overseas gigs, tours and remixes threw his album concept overboard again and again and made him start from scratch each time. Well worth the wait, Sensual is seriously seductive, minimal but hot, loose limbed, laid-back, playful and funky. This adventurous album holds unexpected surprises that will make you grin, basslines that will smack your hips and make you want to wriggle out of your clothes. Not once rigid or stiff, but slinky and ultra-now, Steve manages to produce a warm and clubby 100% naturalsample-free album. This album reveals once again that Steve has an over-abundance of funk and minimal melody coursing through his veins and once again, the club gets all the love."

Title: Da Minimal Funk 3
Label: POKER FLAT (GERMANY)
Format: 2CD
Price: $20.00
Catalog #: PFR 009CD
"In 1996, Germany's minimal master Steve Bug, responsible for labels like Poker Flat Recordings, Dessous Recordings and B-Series, created the first volume of Da Minimal Funk compilation series on his former imprint Raw Elements. This outstanding album was a groundbreaking release in the growing minimal techno and house movement. Today, Steve delights us with a sequel that is even more funky than the first. He has selected a fine blend of tracks from some of the world's best producers including Jeff Samuel, Chris Lum, Freestyle Man, Sergej Auto as well as Steve Bug himself alongside Dessous / Poker Flat artists like Frankman and The Jackals. Steve delivers an album full of energy, packed with tunes designed to fill the dancefloor. Deeply influenced by the funky jacking groove of early Chicago house, Bug has stripped down many of the tracks to the bone. While the first CD is a full on DJ-mix, displaying Steve's great abilities as a long-time club DJ with perfect mixes, cuts and blends, covering the whole spectrum of minimal funk, the second CD is dedicated to calming broken, downtempo tunes with an organic feel. All tracks have been carefully selected and include work by Jimpster, Ursula Rucker and Antonelli Electric."

Title: Bugnology 3
Label: POKER FLAT (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: PFR 022CD
Following on from the pioneering and heralded Bugnology mix in 2004, and the equally outstanding Bugnology 2 in 2006, Steve Bug, Poker Flat label head and one of the world's leading house and techno producers and DJs presents number three. The mix presents a detailed, mesmerizing journey through Bug's current musical addiction, and also takes a snapshot of a very exciting time in dance music, where genres and barriers are continually being broken, in the name of exciting, forward-thinking and free-flowing house music! Like its earlier volumes, Bugnology 3 is a genuine masterpiece in next generation DJ mixes. Not only did Steve carefully select each track featured here (no doubt club-tested and dancefloor approved) but there was a unique process of editing, looping, stretching and shortening involved, to ensure the whole mix flows like no other. Opening with the dense atmospheres of Anton Zap's "Captain Storm," and building steadily through tracks from Federico Molinari, Tigerskin and Moodymanc, to the surging melodies and rising synths of Santigo Salazar's "Materia Obscura," there is true euphoria compiled here. Bug also brings things down and deep with Two Armadillos' "Hamlin," from his own Dessous imprint. From here on in, depth, energy, and big-room synths are brought into play by George Kagais, and Stimming's smooth remix of Manuel Tur's "Vabanque." Pigon and Peace Division present overlapping beats, and a bizarre slice of deep funk is introduced with Lee Jones' "Weisses Kaninchen." The Per Eckbo Orchestra's samba-party is another highlight, followed by the tingling melodies of Schatrax's stunning remix of Daso & Pawas' "Det." Percussion and horns galore fill the spectrum as Sven U.K. & Andomat 3000's workout carries on the party, crossing paths with a crazy collaboration between Ripperton and Alex Attias. Damian Schwartz is mixed into the grinding heavyweight beats of Ben Klock, before taking things down a more cerebral route. Adultnapper presents a tripping late-night journey that fits perfectly next to Matthias Meyer's beautiful, sultry piece. Kink & Neville Watson's rising acidic masterpiece is the penultimate adventure of the mix, rocking the system before October's wonderfully tripped-out "Invitation" leads us into the realm of the senses. Another sensational and cutting-edge mix from Steve Bug, a true mixmaster.

Title: Collaboratory
Label: POKER FLAT (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: PFR 024CD
Poker Flat proudly presents Collaboratory, Steve Bug's fourth artist album. Based strongly on the ideas of collaboration, shared ideas, mutual respect for fellow artists and the strength of combining forces in the studio, Steve chose some very special producers and vocalists to work with on this exciting project. From Berlin natives and well-known high-climbers Cassy and Clé (of Märtini Brös), to one-half of the Detroit Grand Pubahs aka Paris The Black Fu, ace producers and equally dexterous vocalists are assured. The Southern Hemisphere's hottest new export, Simon Flower features with Bug on their teasing cut "Passing Clouds," while Minimise boss and techno legend Donnacha Costello also goes head-to-head with the Poker Flat maestro in the studio. That's not to forget the stunning vocals from Brazilian talent Virginia Nascimento on the slow-spun "Trust In Me," and the classic Chi-Town cut "Like It Should Be," on which Helsinki's Gigi makes a magical, rare appearance, sharing her inspiring and heartfelt message. While the snappier moments of the album will work dancefloors into a frenzy, the whole album breathes an analog warmth which is hard to find these days and which underlines the organic character of a fantastic, song-based album. Steve Bug chose the finest analog equipment, outboard gear and an analog console to create an album which is also, sound-wise, a true masterpiece.
