"Subway was a duo consisting of an American and an UK-guy who released their only album in France as 200 vinyls in 1972. There they lived and played both for some time as street musicians, who played their compositions even in the Parisian subway, hence the band name. Unfortunately, the album fell through, so the unsold vinyls were melted, as was usual in France at this time. The band presented a phantastic psych-folk music with prog-rock elements. An absolutely top album, which hopefully now will reach a bigger audience, as the original LP is very rare. Fully remastered sound for this great studio production. This first-ever CD reissue was made under license of the musicians." Previously reissued on LP by Amber Soundroom.

"Subway have been making machine music since 2000. Influenced by the first wave of house and techno artists, electro old and new, and pioneering krautrock artists like Michael Rother, Cluster and Can. Subway (Alan James and Michael Kirkman) have had releases on a number of labels (such as Rob Da Bank's Sunday Best) as well as releasing material on their own 3 Tone label. '44110' is classic old skool Detroit techno mixed up with Italo-Disco. 'Persuasion' mixes the driving punk -dance of the 80's New York no wave with the electronic improvisations of early '70's Cologne and Dusseldorf. As with all the best combinations the whole adds up to way more than the sum of it's parts. Equipment used in the creation of this record includes three computers, two mixing desks, nine synthesizers and an acoustically challenging studio space featuring panoramic views of east London."

"Killer Italo/New York disco meets Detroit techno meets Krautrock bomb in a DFA stylee! Subway's new 12" single is a startling cosmic marriage of influences -- German electronic rock music from the 1970s (Cluster, Kraftwerk, Neu, Harmonium, Ash Ra Tempel), '80s Detroit science fiction techno (Carl Craig, Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills) and a hint of Italian and European disco (Baldelli meets Cerrone, Space, Moroder and Jean Michel Jarre). This new single features a killer mix (featuring live guitars, handclaps and more) by current DFA/Dissonant man-of-the-moment artist Gatto Fritto which adds a sublime Arthur Russell/New York experimentation, ambiance and feel to the title track 'Simplex.' Subway are Michael Kirkman and Alan James and have been releasing music since 2000 on a variety of labels including Sunday Best and their own Threetone Records. These exclusive new tracks and remix are a taster for their forthcoming album to be released on Soul Jazz Records in autumn 2008."
