"Debut full EP after a split with the unfraggable Req on FatCat and a few tracks on the
Sofa Variations
(Sofa),
Chihuahuas and Chinese Noodles
(555),
Digital Space
(Lovebytes), and
Attitude
(Tigerbeat6) comps for this Leeds based duo. An interesting mix of lo-bit melody fragments (SID-chip possibly?) hemming traditional post-digital electro crunch and occasional Panasonic-like brown noise filtered percussion. Songs tend to loop on a bit without any real development per se but, well, if that's the only thing to comment on we're doing quite OK. Moderately fresh and surprisingly dancefloor ready given the climate. Sharp." -- Hrvatski.

"In 2003 Skam released a limited edition (of 1000 copies) 12" version of this release containing 6 remixes of tracks taken from Team Doyobi's
Push Chairs For Grown Ups
EP. This CD version contains the same 6 mixes plus 3 extra mixes, including the remix by Mego artist Hecker, which we had to remove from the vinyl version because the cutting engineer feared that it would destroy the head of the cutting lathe." With remixes by: Autechre, SND, Made, Ryo Co, Hot Troche and the unbelievable Birmingham (Dummy Run), plus the CD exclusive mixes from: Beige, Wevie Stonder and Hecker. "8 brand new tracks from the Wolds-massive 8-bit operators Gladwin & Peverett, straight from their grubby little CPU's and into your ear-holes. Highlights include the blissed up squeals and floaty melodies of the electronic ballad 'Aviate', the slappy yet smooth sax-sex contours of 'Style 'n' Stance', and the orch-blast workout of 'On The Money'."

"A limited edition 'blasts from the past' 3 tracker from the team. First up the mighty 'A-Mode', weighing in at a hefty 10 minutes and full of the twists and turns that you would expect from Gladwin and Peverett. Backed up with two tracks that may seem strangely familiar, 'Muller Fokker Effect' and 'The East Coast'. Taken from the trackstreaming section of the Skam web site."

"Skam recordings of Manchester, England, are proud to release the first full-length recording by Team Doyobi. Following their many releases and remixes for various labels, last year saw the first solo eight track EP ska016
Push Chairs For Grown Ups
. Team Doyobi see
Cryptoburners
as a culmination of ideas over the last seven years. This is, in no way any kind of an ending, but more of a beginning, an arrival, Team Doyobi has finally loaded."

"Updating a lost era when horror movies weren't 'ironic' and the directors knew how important the right synthetic soundtrack was. An era when 'progressive' was a word to cherish and musicians were sincere and serious in all their free-expressive ways. Team Doyobi have produced their long awaited second long player for Manchesters legendary Skam label.
Choose Your Own Adventure
is a modern conceptual album, a true journey from start to finish. As soon as the needle hits the record the listener it transferred into a world rooted within the fantasy and mythologies of a computerized new world. Where ancient psychedelic dreams mix with more futuristic ideals, immersing the listener between depths of serious modern electronic architectures. The fantasy landscapes accompanying the adventure in a 16 page full color booklet, bridge the gaps beautifully between abstraction and science fiction illustration. As does the Audio bridge points between electronica, progressive rock, computer based experimentation, academia, funk and fun. Neither retrospective nor nostalgic
C.Y.O.A
becomes Inappropriate as a lifestyle accompaniment, this album exudes freedom for the individual to shake loose to and trip out into the future. Land your mind through the dust clouds of their world, and travel safely along the rollercoaster ride of the collective Doyobi imagination. But always remember to

SKALD 019CD
This is the third full-length album from prolific Leeds-based producers
Alex Peverett
and
Chris Gladwin
. On the whole, it's a slightly more gentle and less bumpy journey when compared to 2004's
Choose Your Own Adventure
, a sentiment that is also reflected in the stunning hand-drawn illustrations by
Oliver Redding
that make up the album's cover artwork. Make no mistake, there are still plenty of bleeps, whirls, zaps and cartoon-busyness to satisfy any '80s glitch prankster -- but the tracks seem grounded with smooth, seamless rhythms for a nice, consistent listen. The fact that Alex and Chris now live on opposite sides of the world doesn't seem to be slowing their work rate down, if anything, the opposite is the case. 2007 could well be a busy year for Team Doyobi, and apparently, their fourth album is already almost in the bag, along with various other "conceptual projects." They are certainly keeping themselves, and Skam, very busy indeed.
