This is California-based producer John Tejada's 11th full-length release. Normally associated with his peers in techno from Detroit, Europe and elsewhere, John Tejada has embraced electronic music as a personal frontier, expanding on his r�sum� as a techno recording artist, producer, remixer, DJ, and label owner. Known for crafting a brand of subtle, musical techno, his recorded output ranges across tempo and genre lines, from chilled-out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of DJs as well as on the home stereo. Where ventures away from many of his own trademarks, journeying into an intimate vibe of warm pulses and bright energies. 2004 release, repressed. This is the Poker Flat debut EP from multi-talented Californian producer John Tejada. While "Flight To Tokyo" has been released "in-the-mix" on the 5 Years Of Poker Flat album, this EP features the full length version on vinyl for the first time. A very funky house tune with a punching beat. The title track is a slightly darker, powerful and minimal acid-driven track. The spoken word vocals hail from drum'n'bass queen Qzen. "Steppa" on B1 comes in a very reduced sound-outfit with abstract spoken word fragments and a slightly broken, crystal clear rhythm construction. All in all, minimal house music at its best.

This is John Tejada's first 12" for the ~scape label. After more than ten years in the business, he is among the most consistent and dedicated dance music producers around. Tejada's career has been an incomparable journey through the various styles of electronic (dance) music, with releases on labels ranging from early European IDM outlets such as Multiplex or A12, Seventh City and Moods & Grooves from Detroit, or German minimal imprints Playhouse and Poker Flat. In this case "Eurotunnel" and "Calibration" are ingenious takes on ~scape's previous audio research. The sound elements used are unconventional and not what one might expect. Others may bring out the heavy emotional artillery in order to shock and awe the immobile onto the dancefloor, but Tejada proves himself to be a subtle yet unyielding seducer.
