Title: LateNightTales
Label: ANOTHER LATE NIGHT (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: ALN 025CD
"Trentemoller is the Dane who did. He's been making electronic music of one kind of bent or another for over 15 years, first making his name as part of Trigbag, a live house act that toured extensively. But it's his solo material that has impacted on the dance community - and beyond. 'La Champagne' was a game-changer and his remixes of artists like Sharon Phillips secured his place as an artist with some serious chops. But that's not all he is. You can hear that yearning in his productions and its evident here, a sort of Protestant northern European melancholy. He is aided on his journey towards the Baltic by some heavy hitters, of course: Velvet Underground, Mazzy Star, and This Mortal Coil. But that's not the story, it's not where the plot comes from, it's not where we're going. It's just a little indicator to reassure you we know the way. No. For it's in the dark beauty of Low's tremulous 'Amazing Grace' or even the way that the Shangri-Las' '(Remember) Walkin' In The Sand', surrounded by the similarly inclined, takes on a funereal gait. As we navigate the flatlands of your mind, we're helped along by a generous sprinkling of Anders' fellow Danes, like Darkness Falls (the atmosphere of this mix aptly encapsulated right there), Ekko, Chimes & Bells and the Late Night Tales tradition, Trentemoller's cover of Chris Isaacs' 'Blue Hotel', sung by Marie Fisker and Steen Jorgensen." Also includes tracks by M Ward, We Fell To Earth, Thee Oh Sees, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, Ekko, Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds and The Black Angels.

Title: The Trentemøller Chronicles
Label: AUDIOMATIQUE (GERMANY)
Format: 2CD
Price: $20.00
Catalog #: AM 002CD
This is Anders Trentemøller's second full-length release, after his astounding and critically-acclaimed debut, The Last Resort on Pokerflat. This new double album is not a new studio album but, as the title indicates, an overview of Trentemøller's impressive body of work. The Trentemøller Chronicles includes Anders' personal selection of his best songs and remixes, which have only been available on vinyl or on compilations, as well as some new and exclusive songs. But the fantastic Trentemøller mix on CD1 and the fine selection of remixes on CD2 make this release a great double album in its own right for extraordinary listening pleasure. The Last Resort took the hearts of music lovers worldwide by storm. At that moment in time the Danish producer had built his outstanding reputation on not only his huge dancefloor hits, but also the remix work he'd done for other artists. Trentemøller's work is an organic combination of hand-played instruments and electronic sounds. Layer after layer of instruments fall perfectly into place and contrasting large and vast echoes and sharp, in-your-face sound bites mix with a dangerous but successful incompatibility. This Chronicle presents new songs and remixes and the best tracks and remixes that have only been available on 12", all hand-selected by the artist himself. Artists in the mix also include: Klovn, Ane Trolle, Richard Davis, Mathias Schaffhäuser, The Blacksmoke Organisation, The Knife, Filur, Jokke Ilsøe, Robyn, Sharon Phillips, Tomboy, Moby and Djuma Soundsystem.

Label: AUDIOMATIQUE (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: AM 004EP
2005 release, repressed. "Big big big. Unbelivable open and intense microhouse rocker with hymn potential. No need to say much about Anders Trentemoller, he's done his share of sick electronic house smash prod and mixes. But this is to be among his best."

Title: Miss You
Label: AUDIOMATIQUE (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: AM 028EP
Audiomatique presents four remixes of Trentemøller's "Miss You." The original shows off Trentemøller's unique composition skills, and for this release, he presents a cut up re-rub full of classic texture and warmth. Pole provides bass-heavy dubsteps in a tripped-out abstraction of the original theme. Pascal F.E.O.S. remains true to the musicality of the original with his drifting techno slow-burner. Finally, Lulu Rouge and Asger Baden take the stirring beauty of the original's piano melody and create a filmic, beatless interpretation.

Title: Harbour Boat Trips 01: Copenhagen
Label: HFN (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: HFN 001CD
Globetrotting Danish DJ/producer Anders Trentemøller presents his first-ever mix CD honoring Denmark's rich musical lineage, highlighting some of the greatest moments from his home country's most beloved talents, and also including many more international artists as well. Every once in a while, you might stumble upon a piece of music that speaks to you on such a high level, that it communicates with the very essence of the human self. Where throw-away pop music can be a time-filler, and often a time-killer, music with real integrity, depth and soul is the kind of thing we actually make time for. In that spirit, some of the Danish maverick's favorite songs are here, for those special, intimate moments that exist purely between sound and listener, with no interruptions. Taking inspiration from the transient, constant activity of Copenhagen's harbour, this mix also sees the heralded producer creating his own special edits along the journey. Launched along with a brand new label platform, HFN, Harbour Boat Trips 01: Copenhagen is full of magical melodies, inspiring lyrics, haunting musical sequences and openly honest emotions from four decades of music history. This collection ranges from wonderful singer-songwriter visions such as Emiliana Torrini's serene "Lifesaver," to swathing synth-scapes like Suicide's "Cheree," to low-slung electronic escapades such as Musclehead's freaky "Phosphorescence." There's a wealth of fantastic music on offer, not to mention some inspiring combinations of unlikely tracks and rare out-takes. The finale, a subtle mix between Copenhagen Collective and Soft Cell, really needs to be heard to be believed. Harbour Boat Trips 01 is a refreshingly unorthodox metropolitan meltdown of post-rock, neo-alternative and electronic bliss. Other artists include: Grouper, Gravenhurst, I Got You On Tape, Beach House, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Raveonettes, Nic Endo, The (Hypothetical) Prophets, David Garcet, Rennie Foster, Caribou, Four Tet, Khan, A Place To Bury Strangers, and Two Lone Swordsmen.

Title: Sycamore Feeling
Label: IN MY ROOM (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $7.00
Catalog #: IMR 001CD
This is the long-awaited new single from Anders Trentemøller, taken from his forthcoming album Into The Great Wide Yonder. "Sycamore Feeling" is a beautifully melancholic, downtempo song with haunting vocals courtesy of Copenhagen singer Marie Fisker. Fisker's sensual, intoxicating performance, framed by lush instrumentation with lots of ambience, make this another great Trentemøller track. Rough around the edges, "Sycamore Feeling" definitely sounds more indie-rock than his previous releases, thanks to the use of live drums as well as electric and acoustic guitars, yet the result is vintage Trentemøller, who played all instruments except the acoustic guitar himself. As in all of his music, the colors in the arrangement continually change, making it one of those tracks that you can keep on playing, discovering new details all the time. The "Sycamore Feeling" CD-single contains six tracks, four of which take the song in a completely different direction. Where the original is definitely made for home listening, some of the remixes are aimed at the DJ community. Even though Trentemøller himself would have been perfectly capable of producing a solid dancefloor version himself, this time around he decided to leave that to two of the great names of minimal-techno, Gui Boratto and Thomas Schumacher. Gui Boratto turns "Sycamore Feeling" into a convincing club-track, with lighter colors and a straight four-to-the-floor drive. Using cut-ups and snippets of Fisker's vocal, he transforms the mood of the original without losing its great melodic feel. Thomas Schumacher takes the track even further and comes up with a driving minimal techno workout, stripping away many of the original layers, yet using the vocal to great effect. A third remix is offered by Danish electronic outfit Mofus, which builds an effective minimalistic arrangement with spacey atmospherics around Fisker's longing vocals. This version is another fine example of the way Trentemøller keeps discovering new (Danish) talent that nicely complements his own sound. Anders Trentemøller offers his own alternate version of "Sycamore Feeling," with even more electric guitars than the original, a different chord progression and, again, a solid indie-rock feel. This is the first release on Trentemøller's own label, In My Room.

Title: Into The Great Wide Yonder
Label: IN MY ROOM (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: IMR 002CD
In My Room presents Into The Great Wide Yonder, the second studio album by Anders Trentemøller and the follow-up to the highly successful The Last Resort (PFR 018CD/LP). Into The Great Wide Yonder is a truly remarkable album, offering as much depth and soul as its predecessor, yet sounding ultimately fresh and different. Above all, the ten tracks show an artist that's willing to take risks, find inspiration in new places and move beyond the sound of his previous album. Compared to the intimate electronic mood pieces of The Last Resort, these tracks indeed have a more strange, mystic and dramatic vibe, with a lot of dynamics, distorted, driving twang, guitars, and real and electronic drums mixed with haunting synths. With Into The Great Wide Yonder, Trentemøller is not only exploring new, moody and atmospheric universes, but also combines his sense for glorious soundscapes with a firm melodic and tonal touch. The original chord progressions and feel for melodies is fundamental to him, and that's also the reason why most of the instruments are played by Trentemøller himself on this album. The Danish multi-instrumentalist and producer shows an unexpected talent for finding vocalists that fit the mood of his songs. The first single of the album, the beautifully tender "Sycamore Feeling," featuring Marie Fisker, is a typical highlight. In fact, all the vocal tracks are stunning. Trentemøller chose to collaborate with the English artist Fyfe Dangerfield from UK-based Guillemots and Danish singers Solveig Sandnes and Josephine Philip from the debuting Danish indie girl duo, Darkness Falls. They all manage to add their own sound and flavor to the album, while their voices blend perfectly with Trentemøller's atmospheric songs. This is an album that keeps growing for a long time, as every track works its way stealthily under your skin. The sound of this album might be one step ahead of his previous work, but we still easily recognize the hand of Trentemøller, in this inspired collection of songs and atmospheres. The sonic richness, sharp contrasts and daring musical colors are vintage Trentemøller. Into The Great Wide Yonder is the work of an artist and producer who seems to be completely at ease in the studio. No wonder, as Trentemøller prefers the silence of the night and the solitude of his own apartment in his hometown Copenhagen to create his music. So even though the album sounds like a big production job in an expensive studio, all of the tracks were in fact recorded in his home. Eerie sounds from everything including a Theremin to an old music box is used to create a warm, analog sound with a lot of attitude. Trentemøller: "I recorded most of the album in my computer, but in the final stages I transferred all the parts to analog tape through a lot of vintage EQ's and pre amps. The tape saturation and the analog outboard really helped getting the warm sound that I was after." Into The Great Wide Yonder might demand more from the listener than The Last Resort, but getting to know the tracks is definitely a rewarding experience, as the album will keep growing and growing for a long time to come.

This hauntingly moving love song features spine-tingling vocals by Josephine Philip, and could perhaps be Trentemøller's most touching recording yet. Trentemøller's dramatic, edgy and daring remix of his own string-drenched opus is nothing short of breathtaking. Kasper Bjørke has his say with his deeper and more low-slung remix, full of funk and melancholy.

Title: Reworked/Remixed
Label: IN MY ROOM (GERMANY)
Format: 2CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: IMR 007CD
Anders Trentemøller has become one of the most respected names in cutting-edge electronic music. His rise to notoriety was sparked by his early, techy releases for Poker Flat and Audiomatique and has since gone on to stellar highs with his own personal take on the genre, spanning, pop, rock, indie and classical. Now, this special double CD release celebrates some of the producer's favorite remixes he completed for other artists, and also some of his personal picks where other musicians have reworked his music. With over 20 super-slick productions to choose from, this is a real treat for any Trentemøller fan, or indeed a great introduction into his sound -- from crisp electronic beats, to atmospheric and filmic moments, to heavy post-rock mutations and beyond. All the reworked tracks are taken from 2010's Into The Great Wide Yonder album (IMR 002CD-LTD/LP), which fused melancholic, emotional melodies with a more indie/electro-rock studio focus. This double CD packs so many quality songs and productions, it's hard to list them all, yet highlights on CD1 include the introductory swathes of Marie Fisker's wonderfully contemplative version of "Sycamore Feeling," taking us into lazy, hazy hypnotic waves of neo-folk. "Tide" flows in as three different versions: Efterklang's beautiful new remix, a Trentemøller version, and Modeselektor's dirty ride with plenty of lo-fi synths fusing with high-end production. There's also a remix by Andrew Weatherall, and the main man's remixes of artists like UNKLE, The Dø, Franz Ferdinand or Modeselektor featuring Thom Yorke -- all must-have modern works, also including Kasper Bjørke's tender "Does Not Matter" which is re-shaped by Trentemøller. On CD2 we find even more electronic versions, kicking off with Trentemøller's foreboding new mix of his own "Neverglade," before we hear his interpretations of Efterklang's "Raincoats" or the heroic version of Depeche Mode's "Wrong." I Blame Coco provide their brilliantly different interpretation of "...Even Though You're With Another Girl," featuring the new recorded vocals of Coco Sumner. "Even Though..." is also reworked by Kollektiv Turmstrasse providing a stylish mixture of pop-meets-deepest-electronica. Furthermore, we discover brilliant reworks of bands like Mew, Giana Factory and Chimes And Bells. UNKLE, maverick UK producer James Lavelle's ambitious ongoing project, reaches out into filmic, spacey zones with their remix of Trentemøller's classic "Neverglade." Among UNKLE's version and the bristling, tense electronic remix by Trentemøller himself, this track also appears as an instrumental version. Trentemøller Reworked/Remixed is a beautiful journey into the musical world of one of the best producers and musicians today, enriched with reinterpretations by some of the most interesting artists.

Each track sees Anders teaming up with various stalwarts of the Scandinavian electronic scene, including his touring partner, DJ Tom and Buda, one of Denmark's most in-demand remixers. Side A's team-up with touring partner DJ Tom is a spaced night-crawling keyboard vehicle with a mood not unlike The Doors 'L.A. Woman' meets 'Plastic Dreams.'"

Price: $10.00
Catalog #: ORB 003EP
Repress; originally released 2004. "'Beta Boy' might shock some people who haven't kept up with the direction hinted at in Anders later remixes. Here it is in full effect, straight in yer face with no compromising. Grand bold bass and heavy, but precise big-room percussion gives us a great piece of funky dancefloor madness. Hug the speakers, bring out the sirens and reach for the lazers! Everyone present at that insane revival-night of Kenneth Bager's legendary late '80s, early '90s Cophenhagen rave institution 'Coma Club' on that hot memorable night this summer will clearly recognize the vibe here. Total K.A.O.S. in other words! Flip the record and you will find something more soothing. 'The Forest,' is a fine slice of techno-poetry. A bit like walking in the woods on a foggy Sunday morning by yourself. It smells of pine and wet leaves. Intricate rhythmic details and mood swings help to keep you refreshed. All in all, a perfect headphone track."

Title: The Last Resort
Label: POKER FLAT (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: PFR 018CD
This is Danish producer Anders Trentemøller's debut full-length release for Poker Flat (now only available as a single CD version). Trentemøller took dancefloors by storm last year with funky minimal techno-tracks such as "Physical Fraction" and "Polar Shift," and subsequently was voted "Best Newcomer" in many dance magazine reader polls. He returns with The Last Resort -- a beautifully crafted, astonishing masterpiece that will leave you breathless. The 13 instrumental tracks together form a wordless musical story, almost like the soundtrack to a movie. It manages to capture a whole range of emotions in subtle melodic miniatures, dreamy ambiences, dusty beats, deep dub-tracks and driving groove-excursions. Although it's definitely an electronic album, it also incorporates live drums, guitars and other acoustic instruments like celesta, glockenspiel, melodica and even DJ scratching to create a more organic feel. The Last Resort also marks Trentemøller's move away from the dancefloor to an introspective album that's especially great for home-listening (or listening in the car, or on your iPod). What came out of the recording sessions for The Last Resort was a very personal album: "It reflects my life, my thoughts, my needs, my insecureness, my longings." A fantastic accomplishment from one of the greatest producers of this century.

Title: Nam Nam EP
Label: POKER FLAT (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: PFR 071EP
"Recently voted 'hottest newcomer' in several international music magazines, the Danish producer Anders Trentemøller took a break from working on his almost completed debut album to finish a brand new slamming three track EP. After 'Polar Shift' and 'Sunstroke' these new and quite different tracks prove once more Trentemøller's outstanding ability to create atmospheric and significant songs in his own, unique handwriting: he adds layer upon layer of sound and instruments which fall into place perfectly, whilst seeming, at the same time, to be dangerously non-compatible. The fascination of his music lays within the contrast between large, vast echo chambers and sharp, direct in-your-face sound bites. The title track 'Nam Nam' on the A1 proves that dance music can be much more than just a functional dancefloor tool. A mere few, but well-chosen, figures and instruments carry on the plot in perfect harmony. 'Vamp Vinyl Edit' on A2 reveals a first glimpse of the upcoming Trentemøller album. This jazzy tune features a bombastically cool bass-lick, accompanied by a snappy brush and easygoing snaps, giving air to an ultra cool, relaxed mood. Finally 'Killer Kat' on the flip side is a pure peak-time weapon with a funky, rolling bassline, sharp claps and hi-hats, topped off with some tricky gadgetry."

The featured album track is "Always Something Better," with a vocal version featuring Richard Davis set in an easy going groove and some wonderful Celesta chords. The A1 slot is reserved for the Trentemøller remix, a true dancefloor anthem with a kicking bass drum and quirky sounds. The dub mix on B1 finds Matthew Herbert contributing his very own interpretation, disrupting and rearranging the original sounds and song structures to create a new and unsettled soundscape. Big one.

Title: Moan (Black Label)
Label: POKER FLAT (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: PFR 081EP
The second single from The Last Resort. For the A-side, Trentemøller himself created a brilliant remix of the "Moan" vocal version, which has been released on the bonus CD of the limited edition album only. Trentemøller managed to keep the mystic melancholic vibe of the track featuring the vocals of Danish talent Ane Trolle, but adds punchy drums, screaming synths and some more guitars to guarantee serious dancefloor action. Radioslave, aka Matt Edwards, aka Rekid, aka Quiet Village, contributed a great remix on the flipside. Slowly building over reduced drum patterns, their mix culminates in a manic wall of sound.
