Title: Floors
Label: CIRCUS COMPANY (FRANCE)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: CCS 061EP
Trio Florian Schirmacher, Henrik Raabe and Jakob Seidensticker as Wareika fall graciously into Circus Company's reputation for forward-thinking artists and musical innovators. The Floors EP begins its ascent with "1st Floor." Complex and unique in their take on electronica, the trio's undercurrent of jazz-infused percussion plays the ideal host for soulfully sung vocals and a morphing soundscape. "2nd Floor" is equally mesmerizing with its eight minutes of building roll and infectious groove. Sharp, funky and intelligent.

Title: Per Aspera Ad Astra
Label: CONNAISSEUR RECORDINGS (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: CNS 010CD
Subtitled: A Journey Of Essential Wareika Interpretations. "Per Aspera Ad Astra" means "through hardships to the stars," and that is precisely Wareika's motto. You could say that the trio from Hamburg is the hardest-working bunch in the music business. In 2010, they released two albums back-to-back, Formation (TART 001CD) on Tartelet Records and Harmonie Park (PERL 081LP) on Perlon Records. The enormous output by the trio is reminiscent of jazz musicians of the '60s. Wareika have released several singles and have done some astonishing remix work within the past three years. Therefore, their collection of ten remixes, or better, reworked and interpreted songs, will give you a fine impression of how Wareika have elaborated their unique sound. To involve Alex Flitsch of Connaisseur Recordings was self-evident for the band. They started out on his label, made several remixes for it, and contributed tracks to the Grand Cru compilation. This also made it a matter of course to feature the exclusive remix of Connaisseur-act Kollektiv Turmstrasse's "Tristesse" on this album. In order to give it even more of a proper album feel, Wareika have delivered an intro and outro, making this collection sound more balanced and harmonious. Please enjoy this almost 80 minute-long journey to the stars with Wareika. Also features remixes of artists such as Aufgang, Gus Gus, Daniel Nitsch, Mathias Kaden, Alex Flatner & Lopazz, Patrick Chardronnet, Kasper Björke & His Friendly Ghost, Soukie & Windisch and Manolo.

Title: Impulse
Label: CONNAISSEUR RECORDINGS (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.50
Catalog #: CNS 024EP
The high priests of jackin' Afro-tech return with an impressive release. Florian Schirmacher, Henrik Raabe and Jakob Seidensticker are the voice of Wareika, finding common ground on the dancefloor by pushing bass lines, synthesizing emotions and by using emotive vocals. "Impulse" sounds like Carl Craig and a snake charmer having drinks at a grubby jazz bar. "Be Real" is a deep Chicago affair. Smoothly jackin', it draws you into a sea of meandering synths -- truly soulful.

Title: Men Village
Label: CONNAISSEUR SUPERIEUR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: CNSS 009EP
Wareika is the collaboration of Henrik Raabe, Jakob Seidensticker, Florian Schirmacher and Michael Hank. This record features a unique blend of dub, percussion and Afro beat music. "Men Village" is almost 15 minutes of Afro drums and percussion, accompanied by warm analog-synth, raster scanning and highlights, served on a strong simple beat that carries one's body on and on. Reboot reduces the original to its more rhythm-based elements with a typical trippin' percussion twist.

Title: Belonging
Label: ESKIMO (BELGIUM)

Title: Burnin
Label: FORMRESONANCE (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: FORM 014EP
Huge package out on FormResonance with this Burnin release by Wareika. The original track, now timeless on vinyl, comes alongside with their own "One on One Remix." Brendon Moeller's interpretation focuses on his beloved dub techniques, including an acid feeling and a stunning bass line. His "Beat Pharmacy Flaming Dub" is more focused and cleaner. Wareika's remix of Alex Flatner & LOPAZZ's "Dinosaurs" creates odd rhythms.

Title: Harmonie Park
Label: PERLON (GERMANY)
Format: 2x12"+CD
Price: $25.00
Catalog #: PERL 081LP
Hamburg-based Wareika, which consists of members Jakob Seidensticker, Florian Schirmacher, and Henrik Raabe, invite you to Harmonie Park, a place created by the love of improvisation. At the park, poles have shifted already, with the musicians having tuned their instruments to introduce you to a parallel universe. It's about the various possible perceptions of one single moment. Loops and sequences, subjected to virtual tempo changes, without leaving the bpm scale. In the park, everything is always in the flow: jazz, techno, funk, house -- all elements disappear throughout the composition. Wareika manage to bring all this together effortlessly, without even thinking in those categories. The deeper you get into the park, the more you get absorbed by the dynamics of interlaced, polyrhythmic modulations. Luckily, the groove acts like the park ranger, showing you around while taking care no one gets lost in hypnotic structures waiting on the way. At the end, this pulsating sound cluster leads into the great river named bass line, leaving you quite harmonized. This release comes in a special format, available in 4 parts on 2x12" vinyl. Included is a bonus CD, containing Harmonie Park in one continuous part, as originally intended by the artists.

Title: Formation
Label: TARTELET (DENMARK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: TART 001CD
This is the debut full-length release by Hamburg-based Wareika, which consists of members Jakob Seidensticker, Florian Schirmacher, and Henrik Raabe. Starting with EPs for well-known quality labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Future Classic, liebe*detail, Motivbank and Connaisseur, and providing something special for compilations like Satoshi Tomiie's famous Renaissance, Wareika's work has inspired people around the world. "Ascending/Descending" is a trip into a world of 7/8 rhythms, nevertheless keeping your feet moving, and with the way-down-to-Africa 5/4 groove caravan "Baracuda," a fish is able to swim in the sand. Throughout the album, Wareika create a powerful formation back-to-back as a band, constantly developing their musical approach -- so they picked up some field recordings, or solo piano interludes, and even made some special album versions. "Men Village" appears here in a live version, "One Nation" is featured in a special album version, and of course, the rare 10-minute jazztastic improvisation on "Riders On The Storm" gives this album the intimate feeling of having an eclectic ensemble playing for you -- be it in your living room, or on a festival stage -- like the smasher "Burnin'" implies. Programmed electronics, human voices and the feeling of touching instruments with your ears mingle in a groove that will make you wanna dance in a circle around a campfire. There is a dubby warmth and friendliness to this record, along with a naturalistic bent that curls tendrils of flora around a minimalistic, percussive, tribal stem.
