Artist: ZIMMERMANN, JENS
Title: Reduction, Seduction
Label: HARTHOUSE (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: HHMA 014EP
"Zimmermann alias Jens Zimmermann aka Tyrell Corp. aka DJ Gargamel is constantly changing yet always the same: a damn good producer. Now, in 2007, after years of noise research and sound sculpting, he is re-emerging as Zimmermann which stands for 'new German minimal sound.' After three much-celebrated releases, aptly called 'Zimmermann #1,' '#2' and '#3' on Room Recordings, which were severely hyped up by Germany's house fraternity, and releases and remixes on Boxersport, K2, and HiFreaks as well as on Harthouse Mannheim, the future is looking bright for Jens. Something he is proud to share with all of those who tune into his reduced, contemporary sound. A1: 'Reduction, Seduction': the art of seducing lies in the tiny changes and the fine sound-shaping capabilities Jens displays with this slow but very potently grooving track that gets them all in the end. Subtle yet powerful. B1: 'G.L.U.X.': Talking about tricky, tiny modulations, this is where Zimmermann, at his finest, dishes up a whole armada of strangely bleeping synths, which, in stark contrast to the dark and rumbling, compelling bass, lead the head astray while the body pumps away."

Title: C30
Label: INTERNATIONAL FREAKSHOW (GERMANY)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: IF 006LP
"It's about time to write some lines again, this time we're announcing episode 6 of the International Freakshow theatre! We would be glad if you'll join us welcoming Mr. Jens Zimmermann back on board! With his experience & knowledge of producing electronic music for more than 20 years now we are very confident that -- after his stunning debut on Intl. Freakshow last year (Modmodblubblub / O.N.Y.X.) -- he surely will drive everybody insane & touch your innerself again with IF-6 called C30. Jens' unique sound could be defined as a bubbling, hypnotizing groove monster that fits together with labels like Cadenza or Perlon except for the pure roughness & intensity that make his trax kind of special. By being reduced-to-the-max on the production level his tunes have an almost spiritual character and they are developing an enormous power when they are emerging through the world's most proper soundsystems. Ever been to Fabric when Ricardo, Richie or another member of the crew was dropping a Zimmermann tune? The people go absolutely nuts on the floor. So it was just a question of time to find Jens Zimmermann on the legendary Fabric mix compilation as well. Before playing Jens' trax you should make sure your P.A. will be tough enough for these dubby pumping creatures pressed on the black plastic we all love! Besides his debut on IF-3, Jens Zimmermann's name should be on the lists of all serious minimal techno lovers in the world as he has created a whole bunch of underground techno hits during the past 4 years & all of 'em carrying his special kind of Zimmermann'ish trademark sound if we think of his output on Room Rec., K2, Treibstoff or Snork -- plus the various remixes he has been responsible for. So if you also love organic microphunk techtrax & you think you'll be capable of handling these heavy pumpin sounds, you are definitively making no mistake with grabbing a copy of International Freakshow number 6!"

Title: Tranquillité
Label: K2 (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: K2 022EP
"The ways of the Lord are inscrutable. We mean the ones of Lord Zimmermann, a veritably spectacular personality of the techno history. To be honest, when Jens Zimmermann showed us his real face we were astonished. The elderly people out there might have got the point already a while ago. In fact Jens' roots go back to the glory days of the Frankfurt DJ Dorian Gray, where in 1988 he was a techno pioneer with the sadly short-lived DJ Torsten Fenslau as Out of the Ordinary Acid. When this team a few years later conquered the charts with 'Culture Beat,' Jens started being in a rather bad mood and said good-bye to the circus of hit parade. Simply entitled as Zimmermann, he released three cool singles on the Darmstadt label Room Recordings last year and now enters at Kompakt's talent forge K2. Both tracks have this Zimmermann-typical heavy hypnotism. The feeling for time and space is cancelling out in a very nice way and the tension crackles like fresh aluminum foil. Despite thrifty instrumentation, Zimmermann is banging away like once Luke Slater as Planetary Assault Systems!

Title: Space Migration 3000
Label: TREIBSTOFF (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TREIB 077EP
"Since 1988, Jens Zimmermann successfully cultivated quite some dance terrains. 'Sequenz 32' seems to have emanated from Zimmermann's private Area 51, in which Rhythm & Sound pimp up the 1975 era Tangerine Dream in terms of design values. You can hear that a man is at work who knows his stuff darn well and is safe in what he is doing. The production is brilliant, the selection of sounds superb, set-ups are constructed with caution, superimpositions are finely layered, propagations and ripenings are get going in a well-considered manner. The vibes flip diverse switches after a certain while. And these are not customary toggle switches, but in fact freely manoeuverable joysticks, for a remote-controlled crowd. Some enormous consequences of these sound aspects reveal over almighty loudspeakers. Ricardo Villalobos in Groove magazine, Berlin, Sept/Oct 2007: '(In Room One of the 'Fabric') you can play a JZ track solely consisting of an incredibly recorded bass drum and a single tone, and the crowd is wacking out.' Test runs certify; 'Hey Freak' this desirable quality. On the horizon of a bright musical future, Z-Man's groove evolution is flourishing."
