This is the second release by Akarma of some pretty great early 'live' material by these guys (the other being S.F. Starts out with a killer side-long track that almost makes this one out as the Italian answer to Love Live Life + 1: flying freak-out stuff, stumbling percussion, screaming organ waver, screaming female vocals, screaming, heavy lead guitar all add up to a first class psychedelic cacophony. The remaining tracks are fine, in a shorter psych/pop vein. Unknown and good-to-astounding, depending on your relationship to the psych universe.

You don't need the originals of these tracks to enjoy the disc in full, although it makes it kind of fun if you do remember them (can YOU tell the difference?!). But away from the originals, Cotton Fields stands up in its own right, both musically and as a pretty definitive roundup of an interesting footnote in the history of Britain's biggest superstar. I don't suppose he'll lose any sleep over it."
