Artist: BLUE CHEER
Title: Vincebus Eruptum
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 011CD
Digipak reissue of the first Blue Cheer album from 1967, originally issued by the Philips organization. Features their "hit" cover of "Summertime Blues" and the beginning of their documentation to be the loudest/heaviest rock band ever. Later practitioners may have bested then on at least a scientific level (in terms of decibel or pound measurements), but for pure trouser-beltage, the sound of Blue Cheer is instantly iconoclastic.Psychedelic bombardment from the times...

Artist: BIG BROTHER (FEAT. ERNIE JOSEPH)
Title: Confusion
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 013CD
Mid-line jewel case reissue. "At the time, their concerts were famous for their intensity and capacity to involve the audience. Bill Holmes, producer of the Strawberry Alarm Clock, decided to take on the band and, under his direction they recorded Confusion. With a scent of the classics of the time, Hendrix & Clapton. An example of big, heavy, blues-psychedelia from the Big Brother. Plus bonus tracks."

Artist: HUNGER
Title: Strictly From Hunger/The Lost Album
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 045CD
Mid-line priced jewel case edition. CD version of first album + 6 tracks from the 2nd unreleased "lost album". West Coast psych from the late 60s, previously issued by Belgian collector Philippe Collignon (amongst others). Philippe's descriptions usually aren't very accurate and this one wouldn't be considered that way either, but it's fun to reminisce, if nothing else: "one of the best heavy psych album ever. This Los Angeles based outfit released this only album in '69 and was reissued on vinyl in '83 by Psycho... a lot of spooky and swirling organs, dreamy vocals, psychedelic effects, echoes and astonishing, furious lead guitars...". Comes with horrendous new digital artwork.

Artist: SERPENT POWER/TINA & DAVID MELTZER
Title: The Serpent Power/Poet Song
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 053/54CD
Repressed, now at mid-line price; reissue of two Vanguard albums on one CD. "The Serpent Power's sole album (self titled, from 1967) is one of those lesser known gems from the San Francisco flower scene. Discovered and planted on Vanguard by ED Denson (Country Joe & the Fish and Fahey manager), their brand of psychedelic folk rock strongly resembles the intoxicating vibes of the Fish: a similar wheezing Farfisa, the occasional harmonica, and exquisite mellow guitar leads (not quite in the Barry Melton league, but that would be asking for too much). Great songs here too, with the epic 13-minute-long 'Endless Tunnel,' an Eastern-tinged acid jam spiced up with an electric banjo, being worth the price of admission alone. After the Serpent Power dissolved, David and Tina Meltzer, the creative force behind the band, recorded one further album for Vanguard. The resulting Poet Song LP from 1969 contains a mix of David's poems backed by music and folk songs sung by his angelic-voiced wife. The intricate arrangements on this grower are by Ed Bogas -- a service this forgotten soundtrack composer and the Bay Area's equivalent to Jack Nitzsche performed for many a SF legend." -- Frank van den Elzen.

Artist: STEPHENS, LEIGH
Title: Red Weather
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 059CD
Mid-line jewel case reissue. "Originally released in '69 on Philips/Mercury, this is the first solo project from the Blue Cheer's guitarist. After recording Cheer's Outside Inside, (literally recorded standing outside of the studio because of the incredibly high decibels put out by the amplifiers), Stephens returned to the UK and began working with keyboardist Nicky Hopkins and drummer Mick Waller (Jeff Beck group/ Rod Stewart) to produce a work markedly different than the thundering B.C. A sound that is well structured, soft, psychedelic with a positive outlook."

Artist: TWINK
Title: Think Pink
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 064CD
"Originally released in 1970 on Polydor. This is a wild classic of British psychedelia featuring various members of the Deviants." Previously bootlegged by SPM in Germany, this version's been licensed direct from the Belgian shoe salesman, John "Twink" Alder himself. Not to imply that original master tapes or cover films were used, but this is probably as close to legit issue as you're going to get on this album. Contains the all-time classic sludge-dunt classic "Ten Thousand Words In a Cardboard Box".

Artist: SANTANA
Title: S.F. Mission District
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 068CD
Mid-line priced jewel case edition. "Live material recorded in SF in 1969. Featuring classics like 'Evil Ways' and 'Soul Sacrifice', plus over 10 minutes of previously unreleased recordings."

Artist: GROUNDHOGS, THE
Title: U.S. Tour '72
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 073CD
Mid-line priced jewel case edition. "After the successful release of the Live at Leeds album, another Groundhogs live performance is available on the Akarma label. Recorded in 1972, during the American tour made to promote the release of Split (the album that literally put the band in the gotha of British Hard - Blues), U.S. Tour contains hot renditions of classics like 'Mistreated', 'Cherry Red', 'Still A Fool', and more."

Artist: TRIPSICHORD MUSIC BOX
Title: Tripsichord
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: 2LP
Price: $34.00
Catalog #: AK 077LP
Gatefold sleeve (textured paper and gold embossed!) and 180 gram vinyl.

Artist: TOAD
Title: Toad
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 0831CD
"Legendary first release by 1970s power-rock blues band, Toad, considered a must-have by fans and collectors alike. Originally released in 1971, this album (mixed by Martin Birch of Deep Purple and Iron Maiden fame) showed to the world the talent of three young musicians: guitar virtuoso Victor Vergeat, drummer Cosimo Lampis and bassist Werner Frohelich, joined here by vocalist Benj Jaeger."

Artist: TOAD
Title: Tomorrow Blue
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 0832CD
"Originally released on Halleluja in 1972, Tomorrow Blue is considered by many to be Toad's magnum opus. Musically, their songs are still well-rooted in blues rock, with elements of hard-prog that give their songs more depth. Vic Vergeat is in top form and proves himself here as one of the greatest rock guitar players of all time. Includes 3 bonus tracks culled from rare singles."

Artist: TOAD
Title: Dreams
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 0833CD
"After the release of Tomorrow Blue, we had to wait 'til 1975 for Toad's third album and unfortunately their last. Originally released on Frog, Dreams is a very good album that never got the attention it deserved, and what was supposed to be their best seller, turned out being their swan song. Inspired hard rock in the vein of Led Zeppelin & Deep Purple. Vic Vergeat and his trio were a force to be reckoned with! Hearing is believing! Includes a great cover version of Hendrix's 'Purple Haze.'"

Artist: TOAD
Title: Toad Box
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: 3CD BOX
Price: $54.00
Catalog #: AK 083CD
"All three albums from this influential Swiss-based European '70s group made up of members of varying nationalities (some of whom played with Hawkwind and Brainticket!). Heavy guitar-dominated blues psych rock, each album is housed in a mini gatefold sleeve. The LP-sized box set also contains a poster and a large full-color booklet with the entire history of the band." "Imagine the sublime look of beauty on your cousin's face on Christmas morning -- you just gave him the fucking Toad boxset!" --Vice Magazine

Artist: TRADER HORNE
Title: Morning Way
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 087CD
Mid-line priced jewel case edition. "Originally released in 1970 on Dawn. Late 60s folk-rock duo formed by Judy Dyble (Fairport Convention) and Jackie McAuley (Them, Belfast Gypsies). Bonus tracks included."

Artist: SANTANA
Title: Mother Earth
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 088CD
Mid-line priced jewel case edition. Collection of tracks dated 1969 and recorded at different locations like the Fillmore Auditorium, the Ed Sullivan show, and their own studio. Contains 10 tracks. "For those of you that have been living in a basement in Sri Lanka for the last thirty five years, Santana were/are a rock n' roll group from the Bay Area that had a decidedly Latin flavor to a lot of their songs, had their first huge hit covering Peter Green's 'Black Magic Woman', and with 1999's Superdupernatural won more Grammy Awards than God. This is the second release by Akarma of some pretty great early 'live' material by these guys (the other being S.F. Mission District), but be forewarned, this one contains different versions of a lot of the tracks covered on the other volume -- if you just can't seem to get enough of hearing variations of 'Jingo' or 'Fried Neckbone at Home Fries' you've come to the right place. -- Billy Kiely.

Artist: UNDER MILKWOOD
Title:
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: AK 095CD
First legit issue of this good-to-pretty-good-to-almost-great underground rock album from 1970 (previously bootlegged as just "Milkwood" by the ever-doomed Fanny organization). Beautifully presented in one of Arkama's new LP-styled mini gatefold jackets. "Reissue of a fantastic Californian psych-based only released in 1969 as test pressing (was planned to be released on A&M label but never came out); it had this real 'west coast' guitar-sound like Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, some folkrock passages ala Fairport Convention but also some exotic hippie atmospheres ala Traffic Sound; great alternate male/female vocals not unlike Balin/Slick but also crystal vocal passages ala Sandy Denny."

Artist: LE STELLE DI MARIO SCHIFANO
Title: Dedicato A
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 1008CD
Mid-line priced jewel case edition. "Originally released in 1967 on the BDS label. Mario Schifano (the amazing painter and sculptor from the Italian pop scene) recruited four young and unknown musicians to record this innovative album. Features Peter Hartman and beautiful cover artwork by Schifano himself." Previously carried on the dubious Mellow label, this version has got to jump one giant step forward in the great Italian label scramble for legitimacy! Starts out with a killer side-long track that almost makes this one out as the Italian answer to Love Live Life + 1: flying freak-out stuff, stumbling percussion, screaming organ waver, screaming female vocals, screaming, heavy lead guitar all add up to a first class psychedelic cacophony. The remaining tracks are fine, in a shorter psych/pop vein. Unknown and good-to-astounding, depending on your relationship to the psych universe.

Artist: DAMNATION
Title: The Second Damnation...Plus
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 101CD
"Released in October 1970, Damnation's second album contains a series of excellent tracks that confirm this Cleveland band's incredible creativity. The album also has great cover art, featuring the group in action, with bassist Ray Benich in front of a mastodonic amp. This album was not planned ahead of time, rather spontaneously created in studio (with the tracks being the result of long jam sessions). With this album the band succeeded in confirming their already well-defined style, and earning a place among the great bands of the seventies. Thanks to guitarist Jim Quinn who opened his personal archives to Akarma, this reissue also features five previously unreleased bonus tracks recorded in 1972 at the Grand Ballroom Theatre, giving listeners a taste of what this band could do live."

Artist: CIRCUS 2000
Title: Circus 2000
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 1021CD
Mid-line jewel case reissue. Second label to reissue this album, which was originally released by RiFi in 1970. "Competent Italian psych record from 1970, the band's first of two, its pluses being some great female vocals by Silvana Aliota, and some pretty classic fuzz breaks by guitarist Marcello 'Spooky' Quartarone. At points a little like Aguaturbia, and if you're a fan of theirs you might feel that you need to hear this. CD version includes four bonus tracks not found on the LP. " -- Billy Kiely.

Artist: CIRCUS 2000
Title: Escape From A Box
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 1022CD
Mid-line jewel case reissue "Originally released in 1972 on RiFi. Their 2nd and (maybe) best album. More progressive than the debut work. Extended instrumental passages. The CD contains 2 bonus tracks." Heroically dumbo psychedelic collision from Italy, characterised by the IQ-anthem, "Hey Man", drawing air from the same celestial bong-portal that led to the birth of Aguaturbia in SA and Tomorrow's Gift in Germany, this is a special elixir.

Artist: ARTI E MESTIERI
Title: Tilt
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 1024CD
"Originally released in 1974 on Cramps. Their first album was a good effort. An Italian progressive band close to PFM, Mahavishnu Orchestra, King Crimson and Soft Machine. Original artwork."

Artist: ARTI E MESTIERI
Title: Giro Di Valzer Per Domani
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 1025CD
Mid-line jewel case reissue. "Originally released in 1975 on Cramps. This is their 2nd album. More dynamic and inspired than their debut title. Contains 2 bonus tracks. Original artwork."

Artist: AREA
Title: Arbeit Macht Frei
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 1036-1CD
Formerly available as a 4CD box, these Area albums are individually reissued, with 24-bit remastering. "Debut album by the massively influential Italian progressive group, Area (lead by Demetrio Stratos), originally released in 1973 on the experimental Italian Cramps label. This ground-breaking album sailed Italian music into uncharted waters and right off the edge of the earth. Experimental politicized rock with overtures to prog and jazz all held together by Stratos' otherworldly vocals."

Artist: AREA
Title: Caution Radiation Area
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 1036-2CD
24-bit remaster. "Originally released in 1974, the band's second album added increasing levels of fringe experimentation to their already weird recipe. Stratos' vocal comes off throughout as one-third Pavarotti, one-third haunted house, and one-third Diamanda Galas' long-lost brother. Primitive drums and electronics, intense dustbowl jams, ARP synthesizers, a blizzard of speaking voices, Fender Rhodes solos, wavering Middle Eastern hummingbird and modes, ghostly voices morphing into tortured cries."

Artist: AREA
Title: Crac!
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 1036-3CD
24-bit remaster. "Originally released in 1975 on the experimental Italian label, Cramps, Area's third album is an eclectic furnace of jazz-rock, ethnic folk, experimentation and an ethically conscious manifesto for the arising of the masses, which made Area an icon of the Italian music scene of the 1970s. This is perhaps the best confirmation of the band's crazy fusion: furious, mind-bending rhythms and melodies balanced with humor and the avant-garde."

Artist: AREA
Title: Are(A)zione
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 1036-4CD
24-bit remaster. "For their fourth album (originally released in 1975 on Cramps), Area's unique sound combined the punch of rock with the frightening chaos of experimental music. The 'International POPular Group' was a fascinating band. This album contains one song from each of their previous records plus a 15-minute jam (the title song) and a free-jazz interpretation of 'L'Internazionale.'" Miniature 4-paneled gatefold sleeve.

Artist: AREA
Title: Event '76
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: AK 1038CD
"Recorded live at the University of Milan with Steve Lacy and Paul Litton during the period in which Area were working on their experimental Maledetti. Many jazz critics saw an affinity between Area's experimentalism and that of the jazz avant-garde. Event 76 shows us the band's enormous live potential and puts an end to any idea that Area were a simple rock band. An important piece of Italian music history."

Artist: DIAS DE BLUES
Title:
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 103CD
Mid-line priced jewel case edition. "Originally released in 1972 on Discos De La Planta. A rare and great album of South American rock blues." Originally from Uruguay, this trio of Jorge Barral (bass, acoustic guItar, orrigontöfono, vocal), Caniel Bertolone (electric guitar, bottleneck, harmonica, piano) and Jorge Graf (drums, percussions, piano) sweats it out with the best of them...

Artist: SAINT JUST
Title: La Casa Del Lago
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: LP
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: AK 1046LP
"These stellar Italian prog rockers based their unique sound on the unmistakable vocals of Jenny (Jane) Sorrenti and a medley of acoustic instruments, creating a sound that made interesting use of folk, psychedelic and classical influences, and their 1973 and 1974 albums are among the most significant in the Italian panorama. La Casa del Lago (The House on the Lake) is more rock-influenced than their previous album, and it is perhaps also a more musically complete effort. Here saxophonist Robert Fix has been replaced by two electric guitars and a steady drummer, resulting in a much less acoustic and more rhythmic-sounding album. Sorrenti has always identified herself in the folk rock of the late '60s and her passion for bands like Pentangle and Sandy Denny's Fairport Convention is evident. These influences, along with those from the Mediterranean, give life to the unique and innovative sound that is Saint Just."

Artist: LEVIATHAN
Title: Leviathan
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 110CD
Mid-line priced jewel case edition. "Originally released on London Records in 1974, this is Heavy -- Progressive -- American -- Rock at its best, where the strong influences of the English Prog. Music of the same period, are mixed with the classic American Rock sound of the era. The powerful voice, the guitar section and the production work, make this album fresh. It will be surely appreciated both by the fans of this kind of music, and by the younger people searchin' for the heavy prog roots."

Artist: RUNNING MAN, THE
Title:
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 111CD
Mid-line jewel case version. "Originally released on Neon (an RCA subsidiary dedicated to progressive rock) in 1972. This English progressive band had it's strength in the guitar player Ray Russell, well known for his fastness and talent. Powerful jazz-rock tracks, alternate with softer moments. Featuring the sax player Gary Windo." On Jim O'Rourke's Top Ten Thousand list.

Artist: MOVING SIDEWALKS, THE
Title: Flash
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00

This re-release contains the original track list plus five bonus tracks taken from ultra-rare singles (including a version of Lennon-McCartney's 'I Want To Hold Your Hand')."

Artist: FRY, MARK
Title: Dreaming With Alice
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 126CD
"Originally released in 1972 on Italian RCA... a very rare album recorded in London and Milano...nice mellow psychedelia with some Eastern influences... original artwork... gatefold sleeve." Donovan-influenced, sitar-laced, this is a rather extraordinary psych/folk revelation and one of the most impressive Akarma archive gestures to date. Not some laughable Kissing Spell-type atrocity.

Artist: FRY, MARK
Title: Dreaming With Alice
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: LP
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: AK 126LP

Mid-line priced jewel case edition. "Originally released in 1971 by RCA/Neon. 2nd and best album for this UK progressive rock combo (their records are now very rare and sought-after). Acoustic and melodic prog with heavy guitars, sax riffs and nice keyboard chords. Recommended to fans of the early Pink Floyd/Syd Barrett. Original artwork... gatefold sleeve..."

Artist: BRAIN POLICE
Title: Brain Police
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 174CD
"Recorded in 1968, this self title debut by one of the most interesting garage psych bands of the US underground scene was originally turned down by major record labels and this caused Brain Police's disbanding. Akarma is proud to add this new CD reissue to the previously released vinyl version to fully revive the freshness of the San Diego based psychedelic group. Includes an interesting biography of the band."

Artist: FUZZY DUCK
Title: Fuzzy Duck
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 180CD
Mid-line jewel case reissue. "Reissue of this classic UK underground progressive psych album originally released in 1971 on Mam in an edition of 500 copies. Previously reissued on Repertoire in the early '90s, this release adds four bonus unreleased tracks. Feature Mick Harnsworth of Five Day Week Straw people and Andromeda fame on bass, while keyboardist Roy Sharland had cut rug with Arthur Brown and Spice. We are talking heavy keyboard driven instrumental passages, another heavy progressive masterpiece of elating proportions."

Artist: CRESSIDA
Title: Cressida
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 182CD
"British progressive rock group which released two albums on Vertigo and were lead by the guitar and vocals of Angus Cullen. Highly praised in The Tapestry of Delights guide to progressive rock and psychedelia as a prime example of what is interesting and worthwhile in UK progressive rock. An amalgamation neo-classical, jazz inspired motifs rock and folk into a refined whole that is pure British progressive. Cullen was great vocalist, and kept the complex music contained within shorter songs that the group would expand on the second album. For fans of early Genesis, Caravan and Soft Machine. Original artwork."

Artist: PATTO
Title:
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 185CD
"Reissue of the amazing debut album by British jazz-rockers Patto, originally released in 1970 on Vertigo. The band, named after singer and wild man of UK rock Mike Patto, is perhaps best remembered for the extraordinary guitar work of Ollie Halsall, capable of amazing jazz-inspired runs and unimaginable peaks of distortion and on both electric guitar and Vibraphone."

Artist: HAPSHASH & THE COLOURED COAT
Title: Featuring The Human Host And The Heavy Metal Kids
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 204CD
Mid-line priced jewel case edition. "Their 1968 first classic album (originally on Minit) is something of an electric mayhem and freeform freakout. Art students/designers Michael English and Nigel Weymouth, whose striking graphics were seen on many bright and trippy posters for psychedelic clubs like the UFO and Middle Earth in London, were the creative talent behind this band along with DJ and manager Guy Stevens. Not far from what the Godz were creating in NYC, an underrated document of its time. A band like this, incorporating flower power, love and peace, acid and psychedelic rock lifestyle, tainted with freak out, drop out, hippy and underground trends, could not have existed in any other era than the late sixties. The Heavy Metal Kids, the alter ego of the proto-Spooky Tooth group Art (comprised of Mike Harrison, Greg Ridley, Mike Kellie and Luther Grosvenor) appeared backing. But who was The Human Host? Original artwork."

Artist: JOSEFUS
Title: Dead Box
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: 3CD BOX
Price: $54.00
Catalog #: AK 235CD
"With a standard guitar-bass-drums-vocals (and sometimes harmonica) line-up, the Texas-based Josefus produced a classic, blues-driven 'made in the USA' psychedelic sound. This 3 CD boxset includes the complete Josefus discography: Dead Man (1969) and Josefus (1970) plus a full CD dedicated to various live and studio outtakes. Also contains booklet with extensive biographical notes and previously unreleased photos of the band."

Artist: ROBERTSON, DON
Title: Dawn
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 240CD
"Today the native San Franciscoan Don Robertson is an improbable 60 year-old multi-instrumentalist and new age composer, but back in 1969 when this album was released on Limelight (a subsidiary of Mercury) he was the obscure and uncontested master of 'eastern psychedelia'. In the mid-sixties, like many of his peers, Robertson began experimenting with non-western music, which led him to record the extraordinary Dawn in 1969. Here, in addition to piano, Robertson plays guitar, harp and various traditional instruments, such as the tablas and the jaltarang. The result is a surprising and engaging mix of eastern-influenced jazz, psych rock, and classical music. Gatefold sleeve with biography and archival photos provided by Don Robertson himself."

Artist: BEN
Title: Ben
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 247CD
Mid-line priced jewel case edition. "This classic example of 70s British jazz rock is finally available on CD. Ben's legendary self-titled debut, originally released in 1971, is beautifully executed by this quintet, led by guitarist Gerry Reid and saxophonist Peter Davey. The album maintains a delicate balance between jazz and progressive rock, and the musical ability of each musician is apparent in each track. Featuring the classic 'faucet' cover art work."

Artist: MAY BLITZ
Title: May Blitz
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 253CD
"May Blitz was formed by drummer Tony Newman (Sound Incorporated, Jeff Beck), a musician with a heavy hand and decidedly at home in hard rock territory. Original copies of this album (the band's 1970 eponymous debut) sell for outrageously high sums, which makes this reissue an even more welcome addition to the Akarma catalog. Excellent hard rock, enhanced by the solo guitar acrobatics of Jamie Black."

Artist: MU
Title: The Last Album
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 258CD
"Recorded in 1974, Mu's second album never saw the light of day because the band broke up soon after recording. Finally released as a limited Italian-only edition in 1982, the music transmits a delicate mix of soundscapes, in which elements of blues, folk and West Coast psychedelia meld together thanks to a solid guitar base and the incisive vocals of 70s cult icon Merrell Frankhauser. Twenty tracks (bonus tracks). " Fankhauser with Jeff Cotton, Randy Wimer, Jeff Parker, Mary Lee.

Artist: STEAMHAMMER
Title: Speech
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AK 263CD
"Final album from the UK band, released in 1972. This was an ambitious progressive rock record that had much to admire, particularly the excellent guitar playing of Martin Pugh. After the band's demise, founding members went on to form Armageddon with Keith Relf."

Artist: PALMER, BRUCE
Title: The Cycle Is Complete
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: LP
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: AK 269LP
Gatefold LP reissue. "Bruce Palmer is perhaps better known as the bassist for Buffalo Springfield, one of the greatest rock groups of the '60s. Palmer -- as reserved as he was genius -- released this solo album in 1970 which remains one of the strangest rock albums ever created. An eclectic masterpiece that magnificently fuses the most disparate genres -- folk, jazz, rock psych, trance -- to create a fascinating sound that was at least three decades ahead of its time. Every track is its own chapter, 'Alpha-Omega-Apocalypse' frenetically explores jazz territories and is enhanced by the blues vocals of Rick Matthews (aka Rick James, future psychedelic soul star). In 'Oxo' Eastern influences predominate, while 'Calm Before The Storm' is a languid and intriguing journey characterized once again by interesting ideas and an impeccable performance. The Cycle Is Complete definitely falls into the 'essential' album category."

One of the most interesting proposals from Australia, Buffalo debuted in 1972 with this Dead Forever... a massive trip into heavy metal. Two well performed covers, Blues Image's 'Pay My Dues' and 'I'm a Mover' by Free, an astonishing wall of dark sound and macabre cover artwork make Dead Forever a sure gem for whoever enjoys early headbanging."

"Finally available on CD one of the most interesting reissues Akarma was proud to offer you on LP a few months ago. This Canadian group released its first -- and extremely rare -- album in 1969, becoming an essential piece of the American acid psych mosaic. Great sound and awesome vocals provided by the brilliant Lynda Squires, vaguely reminiscent of the Jefferson Airplane." Previously reissued on Laser's Edge.

Their debut album reproduced here contains two LPs with inner sleeves and a giant poster. Their music was somewhat inspired by the Grateful Dead: long bluesy jams with good guitar solos, flute and violin (several tracks last more than eight minutes)."

Price: $22.00
Catalog #: AK 289LP
"Nick Greenwood was a big part in the Crazy World of Arthur Brown's successfully acclaimed Fire LP, and when he left him in 1969 to pursue a solo career, he started to work on one of the most eclectic and beautiful examples of musical creativity. Released in 1972 on Kingdom Records, Cold Cuts is one of the rarest records to ever be reissued. British psych-prog enlightened by brilliant arrangements and highly inspired tunes with echoes of Arzachel and Affinity. Featuring Bunk Gardner (from Zappa's Mothers of Invention) and ex-Khan drummer, Eric Peachey."

Title: Ode to John Law
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AK 290CD
"Second album by this unforgettable Scottish band of the early '70s. The music that the band proposes is blues / soul laden heavy rock, distinguished by carefully-arranged instrumental parts, a prominent guitar -- played by the terrific Leslie Harvey -- and above all, the peerless voice of Maggie Bell, elected 'Britain's Top Girl Singer' of 1972."

Artist: STEPHEN AND THE FARM BAND
Title: Up In Your Thing
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: LP
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: AK 291LP
"In the late 1960s, Stephen Gaskin made a name for himself teaching a weekly class on the meaning of the psychedelic experience in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury District. At the start of the 70s, he led a hippie exodus to Tennessee, where he created 'The Farm,' just about the only successful hippie commune still standing. This is the second album by Gaskin and the Farm Band who fall somewhere between the Grateful Dead and Jethro Tull performing long psycho blues suites with flute and violin solos. Featuring the original artwork which a poster and inlay notes about the history of the community."

Artist: CLARK-HUTCHINSON
Title: A= MH2
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: LP
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: AK 293LP
"A=MH2 is the debut album of one of the most interesting and irreverent bands of the British underground rock scene of the late 60s. Like the Deviants, Edgar Broughton Band, Pink Fairies, and Third World War, Clark - Hutchinson had an anarchic attitude towards the establishment, in their case represented by the music business. Very inspired and promising, A=MH2 combines many influences, brilliant ideas and the talent of Mick Hutchinson, whose guitar style recalls his passion for Indian music and rock blues."

Artist: STONE THE CROWS
Title: Teenage Licks
Label: AKARMA (ITALY)
Format: LP
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: AK 294LP
"Originally released in 1971, Teenage Licks was certainly the best reviewed album by this band and their bestseller; giving Maggie Bell's combo a certain notoriety during this period. This album also marks their switch from the initial bluesy background in favour of more power oriented hard rock supported by the talented vocalist and the art of axe hero Les Harvey. Original artwork."
