NASCITA DELLA SFERA
Title:
Per Una Scultura Diceschia
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 006LP
"Nascita della Sfera was a group of session musicians assembled by a composer to record a single LP, in this case composer and keyboardist Carlo Barbiera dedicated a full album to the life and works of sculptor Luciano Ceschia (1926-1991), both coming from near Udine, Friuli VeneziaGiulia, in the north-east of Italy. The rare album is a rather original example of experimental electro-acoustic progressive style, mainly based on synth effects and acoustic guitars and often reminding some of Battiato's early works. Despite the presence of five singers in the line-up, the vocal parts are short, spoken rather than sung. 19 tracks are listed on the cover, but these are connected to form two long suites. All in all an interesting album for the adventurous listeners in search of something different." 180 gram vinyl. Gatefold sleeve.

FOLK STUDIO A
Title:
Folk Studio A
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 008LP
"Released nearly 25 years ago in a very limited pressing, Folk Studio A's debut has quickly become one of the most rare and sought after LPs coming from Italy. We are aware that many collectible rarities can be musically very thin, but this is not the case with this stunning masterpiece. Following in the footsteps of the British folk-prog revival, they delivered a shiny little gem that can easily be put on the same level as giants like Mellow Candle, Tudor Lodge, Fairport Convention, Pentangle, Steeleye Span or Spriguns. Folk Studio A is a meeting of two cultures, popular and classical, and in this experience musicians with different origins are united by a common passion for the original music of Celtic countries, but at the same time the music is reinterpreted through a continental sensitivity rich with original compositions and careful arrangements."

ALPHATAURUS
Title:
Alphataurus
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 009LP
"Alphataurus were one of the many unknown Italian bands who suddenly had a recording deal, made an album and disappeared into oblivion. Their only album,
Alphataurus
, the first on the newly born Magma label, is a masterpiece, so well crafted and played that it seems impossible that's been made by a group of unknowns. The singer Bavaro has a very original voice, keyboard player Pietro Pellegrini plays with competence and no self-indulgence, guitar-playing of Guido Wasserman is well cared and the rhythm section of Oliva and Santandrea creates a powerful background. The album includes five long compositions of which 'Peccato d'orgoglio' and 'La mente vola' are the best, the latter featuring a nice moog intro and a stunning vibes solo. Exact replica of the triple gatefold original cover, with labels replicas and yellow vinyl."

Title:
Suspiria
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
PIC. DISC
Price:
$37.00
Catalog #:
AMS 011-PIC
"Probably the most scary soundtrack Goblin has ever written (don't listen to it when the lights are down!), apparently it seems that the score was composed before the film was ready, so that director Dario Argento had to make some changes to the movie script, in order to have the music perfectly suited! This legendary soundtrack combines elements of music and sound scary effects going far beyond traditional background scoring, becoming an integral part of the film. As critics say nowadays,
Suspiria
music 'is so perfectly integrated into the film, fares less well as a stand-alone item. All that pounding, howling, thumbing, and wheezing is enough to send chills down your spine even without the movie images (it is the perfect imaginary soundtrack), but not all of it could be called a pleasant listening experience (unless your idea of pleasant is having your nerves set on edge).' 300 copies limited pressing in beautiful picture disc."

Il Fantastico Viaggio Del Bagarozzo Mark
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 012LP
"Another non-soundtrack album,
Il Fantastico Viaggio Del Bagarozzo Mark
, from 1978, was the only Goblin album entirely sung (in Italian), the others being instrumental only; it is a concept album about the 'fantastic journey of Mark, the cockroach.' This may sound quite funny and weird, but
Il Fantastico Viaggio
simply is a great prog album, surely the most symphonic of the Goblin production, it alternates the usual gloomy and scary Goblin sound with some nice acoustic interludes. Goblin also played some live dates to promote the LP, a rather strange thing for a group who didn't have a strong live activity at all! Never reissued on vinyl before, great sounding 180g high quality vinyl!" Gatefold sleeve. Last copies, deleted item.

IL REALE IMPERO BRITANNICO
Title:
Perche Si Uccidono
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 013LP
"Reale Impero Britannico surely is the rarest record of the Goblin universe, together with Cherry Five of course. Released in a very small batch of copies in January 1976, as the soundtrack of an obscure movie called
Perché si uccidono - La merde
though it was recorded some time before, when the members of Goblin still called themselves Cherry Five, as the band still featured Cherry Five singer Tony Tartarini (that sings the excellent 'My Damned Shit') and drummer Walter Martino. Afterwards the band will change its name to Goblin recording its breakthrough record bestseller, the soundtrack of
Profondo Rosso
. This is also why
Perché si uccidono
is the perfect musical hook-up between Cherry Five and Goblin. An essential and rare record for Goblin lovers that will suit all psychedelic and progressive minds!"

CHERRY FIVE
Title:
Cherry Five
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 014LP
"Another Goblin parallel work is the mighty
Cherry Five
album, recorded in 1974 and released in 1976. Even if it's not particularly representative of the Italian prog sound, the LP is a genuine rarity due to the great world success Goblin achieved with some of their soundtrack works, and is in many collectors' want lists. A keyboard based album, sung in English,
Cherry Five
has strong influences by the likes of Genesis and Yes, especially in the fluid keyboard parts and powerful bass sound. A classic, and a continuous seller." Gatefold sleeve.

CELESTE
Title:
Celeste (Principe Di Un Giornio)
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 015LP
"Mostly acoustic, dreamy and delicate prog. A studio group, they had a very limited live experience. This their first album,
Celeste
, also known as
Principe di un giorno
, was released by the small Grog label only in 1976, but the tracks had been composed in 1973 and recorded in 1974. It contains seven tracks, with pastoral lyrics and a style not far from the softer side of early King Crimson. Fantastic reissue with only the first copies in white vinyl. 180 gram vinyl, gatefold cover."

Format:
PIC. DISC
Price:
$37.00
Catalog #:
AMS 017-PIC
"
Roller
was the second record for Goblin, originally released in 1976, just after the successful score of Profondo Rosso, and is one of the very few Goblin records that was not intended to be a soundtrack. By many considered their best effort, in
Roller
the band develops their dark, hypnotic and totally instrumental sound, but with an always vivacious and dynamic edge. The record also features new members Agostino Marangolo (from Flea) and Massimo Guarini. 300 copies limited pressing in beautiful picture disc."

L'UOVO DI COLOMBO
Title:
L'Uovo Di Colombo
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 018LP
"Based in Rome, L'Uovo di Colombo was a sort of primordial supergroup featuring Enzo Volpini and Ruggero Stefani that had previously played together in I Fholks with future members of Reale Accademia di Musica, while Elio Volpini had been a member of Flea (on the Honey).
L'Uovo di Colombo
is a great album, with the very good voice of Toni Gionta (his real surname was Tartarini and he was later the singer with Cherry Five) backed by a keyboard/bass/drums trio in perfect Le Orme style with occasional use of acoustic and electric guitar. The solid rhythm section and competent keyboard playing give the album a very high quality and the eight tracks are all perfectly enjoyable. After the band's demise, drummer Ruggero Stefani joined Samadhi, then Mediterraneo and Gli Alunni del Sole. Elio Volpini went back to his old cohorts of Flea to form the jazz-rock outfit Etna. As said before, singer Gionta changed his name to Tony Tartarini and was briefly involved in Cherry Five. Never reissued on vinyl before, great sounding 180 gram high quality vinyl!" Gatefold sleeve.

SORRENTI, ALAN
Title:
Aria
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 019LP
"A very important artist from Naples, Alan Sorrenti released his first album in 1972 on the legendary Harvest label.
Aria
is an absolute Italian prog classic, with two different sides: the first only contained the long title track, a dreamy psych-suite starting with acoustic guitar and based on the marvelous instrument-like voice of Sorrenti, and exploding in the final part with a memorable violin solo by Jean Luc Ponty. Side 2 was softer, with three tracks, two of which also appeared on a single: whereas 'Vorrei Incontrati' is particularly nice. A great record, never reissued on vinyl before, now on a great sounding 180 gram high quality vinyl!" Gatefold sleeve. Please note: all copies produced have a minor cover crease on the front/back of the jacket which occurred during the printing process -- it's not shipping damage and can't be fixed. It's also not that "bad" and won't leave you sleepless for weeks...
Artist:
SORRENTI, JENNY
Title:
Suspiro
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 020LP
"Sister of well known artist Alan Sorrenti, Jenny (or Jane, as she was called in her early releases) was born in Naples from a Welsh mother, and formed there the acid folk trio Saint Just. With this band she released two albums before embarking in a solo career that only produced two more albums in the '70s. Jenny's style as a solo artist is far from her previous bands, being much closer to the song format. Both albums being mainly built on Jenny's delicate voice,
Suspiro
is the best of the two, with help from experienced musicians like Peter Kaukonen (brother of Jorma, Jefferson Airplane's guitarist), drummer Francesco Froggio Francica (from Raccomandata con Ricevuta di Ritorno and Procession), guitarist Pino Daniele (later a well-known solo artist), violinist Lucio Fabbri (PFM) and long cohort Toni Verde from the Saint Just days.
Suspiro
has recently reached high values due to the interest by many foreign collectors in the Jenny Sorrenti production. A great rarity never reissued on vinyl, now on 180 gram wax!" Full color inner sleeve

SAINT JUST
Title:
Saint Just
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 021LP
"Based on the beautiful voice of Alan Sorrenti's sister Jane, Saint Just began as a trio with mainly acoustic instruments mixing together folk, psychedelia and classical influences. The very good results are demonstrated in their first album, released in 1973 on Harvest. The soft prog atmospheres are dreamy and enchanting, like in the opening 'Quando nel mondo distrutto incominció la vita.' Alan Sorrenti also sings on a track. A must-have Italian classic! High quality, heavy 180g vinyl; special raw textured cardboard gatefold sleeve."

LEONERO
Title:
Vero
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 022LP
"After the release of the legendary YS, the band Balletto di Bronzo disbanded and their leader Gianni Leone had a short solo career under the name of LeoNero. The result was a very good album,
Vero
, released by the legendary Harvest label in 1977 and recorded a year before in New York. The album is totally played and sung by Leo himself, and despite some commercial pop songs, it has some good moments reminding of his old band's sound, like in 'La Discesa Nel Cervello,' 'Il Castello' and the intense closing track 'Una Gabbia Per Me.' Obviously the sound is mainly keyboard-based, but Leone played drums, minimoog bass lines and even guitar on some tracks. An album track, 'Sono Stanco Anch'io' appeared on the B-side of a single from 1978, Fremo. A very rare and collectible album,
Vero
only had a limited vinyl reissue in Japan, and now, for the very first time, is released on a great sounding 180 gram high quality vinyl!"

MAXOPHONE
Title:
Maxophone
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 023LP
"Maxophone, from Milan, formed in 1973 as a six-piece with an unusual assortment of instruments, due to their past experience as music students. A band of great talents and musicianship, their only LP, released in 1975, came too late to compete with the most important Italian bands of the genre and went sadly unnoticed.
Maxophone
, released on the Produttori Associati label (along with Duello Madre, one of the few ventures in rock records by this label) is a marvelous album, full of dreamy atmospheres and complex horn arrangements, with good vocal parts in a Genesis style and is nowadays considered as one of the best Italian prog records of all time. High quality, heavy 180 gram vinyl!" Gatefold sleeve.

ANALOGY
Title:
Analogy
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 024LP
"The group was formed by four German musicians living in northern Italy, near Varese (three of them had grown up there, Thurn-Mithoff arrived in 1968), along with two Italians, keyboardist Nicola Pankoff (originating from Arona) and bassist Mauro Rattaggi. The initial name was The Joice, but it was changed by mistake by their record company to Yoice, and it was with this name that their first single was released by the small Produzioni Ventotto label, distributed by Messaggerie Musicali. In 1972, when Rattaggi quit and rhythm guitarist Schoene switched to bass, the group changed its name to Analogy, and had the chance to play some very important concerts like Caracalla Pop Festival in Rome (first concert with the new name) or the Be-In in Naples, though they remained totally unknown outside Italy, apart from Switzerland. Their only album, very rare and interesting, shows some rock-blues influences, with the nice voice of singer Jutta Nienhaus in strong evidence, and had a distinctive cover with the group members all naked. In 1973 keyboardist Nicola Pankoff left the group, though he kept playing and was also dedicating to painting, he was replaced by flutist Rocco Abate. The group split around 1974, after more than 250 concerts in Italy and around 60 in Switzerland. One of the rarest records from Italy, this is the very first release being a faithful reproduction of the original LP. The first 300 copies even feature the original giant poster with a foot (pictured also on the back cover), folded in six parts, that was conceived in order to hide the naked bodies of the original cover."

LA NUOVA RACCOMANDATA CON RICEVUTA DI RITORNO
Title:
Il Pittore Volante
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 025LP
"Beware of the masterpiece! The legend is back! After more than 30 years, Raccomandata Ricevuta di Ritorno is back and hits the streets with an astounding record with even more astounding guests. Apart from original members Luciano Regoli (Ritratto di Dorian Gray, RRR, Samadhi, DGM), Nanni Civitenga (RRR, Samadhi), Roberto Gardin (RRR, Ritratto di Dorian Gray), Walter Martino (RRR, Goblin, Ritratto di Dorian Gray), this record features real Italian prog legends like Claudio Simonetti (Goblin, Ritratto di Dorian Gray), Lino Vairetti (Osanna), Nicola di Staso (Lybra) and even Carl Verheyen of Supertramp. The result is a progressive killer! Modern, yet full of reminiscences of the past, the record is an ever changing shift of moods, dominated by the stunning, still-intact voice of Luciano Regoli supported by the incredible skills of the involved musicians. We are not afraid to say that for us this is by far the best Italian progressive reunion ever! 300 copies in black vinyl." Gatefold sleeve.

CORTE DEI MIRACOLI
Title:
Corte Dei Miracoli
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 026LP
"With a distinctive lineup featuring two keyboard players and no guitars, Corte dei Miracoli, from Savona, released just one album in 1976. They formed around 1973 by past members of Tramps, like keyboardist Alessio Feltri, who had previously played with Il Giro Strano, a band that's strongly connected to Corte dei Miracoli. Original second keyboardist Michele Carlone left the group just before the recordings for their debut album, and was replaced by the experienced jazz pianist Riccardo Zegna. The album is obviously a symphonic-oriented prog album, where the keyboard interplay dominates. According to reviewers, Corte dei Miracoli's self-titled album 'has a distinct symphonic-prog sound being very melodic and contrasting in writing style with fellow Italians Balletto di Bronzo, Biglietto per l'Inferno or Campo di Marte. Corte dominates the album with intelligent and very classy style of playing helped enormously by the 16-track recording quality. Only five songs, which contain both beautiful melodies and fiery interludes. Skill-wise, all musicians are top-level and all instruments are played perfectly.
Corte dei Miracoli
also has a little jazzy edge due to the repetition of a theme throughout a song using different instruments.' This is the first ever 180 gram deluxe LP reissue." Gatefold sleeve.

Title:
Fede Speranza Caritá
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$50.00
Catalog #:
AMS 027LP
"Jet (or J.E.T. as their name was usually written) were formed in Genova at the beginning of the '70s from a previous band of the same name that also included later members of another pop band, Ricchi e Poveri. Their first album,
Fede speranza carità
, released in 1972, derives from a radical turn in their musical style, to the then-popular progressive rock, and is a very good album, with strong hard rock influences and falsetto vocals but with nice use of organ and a solid rhythm section, as in the long 'Sinfonia per un re' that sometimes reminds of New Trolls' multi-vocal parts and 'Il prete e il peccatore.'
Fede speranza carità
is a very rare album, and due to the small pressing and the delicate cover it's almost impossible to find mint copies. The gatefold cover has a cutout on the front for a thick glued-on shaped glass that's in the inner. This deluxe reissue is a faithful replica of the gorgeous original, limited to 400 copies and entirely handmade."

Title:
Dentro L'invisibile
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 028LP
"A band from Tuscany, formed in the mid-70's in Siena, they released a self produced nine-track tape,
Antichi confini
, in 1976, and, being part of the international Gen Christian movement, they were invited to play in various European Genfest festivals. Their first and only album in 1979 was on the religious Città Nuova label that had also produced bands with similar names like Gen Verde and Gen Rosso.
Dentro l'invisibile
had a limited distribution mainly in bookshops, and is rare to find now. Acoustic, soft atmospheres are prevalent with good use of flute, sax, keyboards, like in the opening 'Ouverture,' but the tracks have limited instrumental interludes and are mainly built on the vocal parts." -- Italianprog.com
"First time 180gr vinyl reissue, identical to the original version with lyrics and info printed on the inlay LP envelope."

Title:
Ad Gloriam
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 029LP
"One of the most important and loved Italian prog bands, and one of the most famous among foreign listeners. Le Orme were another of those bands coming from the beat era that had the most convincing musical evolution in the '70s. They were formed in Marghera (near Venice) in1966 but their debut came in 1967 with
Fiori e colori
, recorded by the original four-piece line-up. The band had a successful single with 'Senti l'estate che torna' and recorded their first album
Ad Gloriam
at the end of 1968, releasing it the following year. Housed in a psychy sleeve, the album is still regarded as one of the best in the Italian beat, with the music having a slight psychedelic touch in songs like 'Non So Restare Solo, Fumo, Milano 1968.'"

Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:

Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 031LP
"In exchange for Dario Argento's help on
Dawn of the Dead
, George Romero allowed Argento to release a different (more explicit) cut of the movie in Europe. This version was called
Zombi
. Instead of the library music score that Romero had used, Argento enlisted the help of his pals Goblin to record a new soundtrack. The result is a brilliant score; menacing, thrilling and totally suited to the movie. There's even a sleazy lounge-esque track 'Zombi (Supermarket).' Faithful replica of the original 1978 release, on new stunning 180 gram audiophile vinyl. Contains a fold-open four-color poster, printed on both sides, analyzing the soundtrack, Goblin's discography and the pictures of all reissues related to
Zombi
as well as the rare movie postcards of the original movie, realized by Roberto Attanasio, one of the biggest Goblin collectors ever."

Tenebre
Label:
AMS (ITALY)
Format:

Price:
$34.00
Catalog #:
AMS 032LP
"
Tenebre
is the soundtrack to the eponymous film directed by Dario Argento in 1982.. Originally credited to 'Simonetti - Pignatelli - Morante,' it's still considered a genuine Goblin album. As many people know, the 'real' Goblin were releasing the LP
Volo
at the same time, and the band's name and logo could not be used for copyright reasons.
Tenebre
is the last great collaboration between Argento and Goblin, before an almost 20-year long break that didn't end until 2001's
Non ho sonno
. Here Dario Argento moved from full and warm-colored atmospheres to the aseptic and cold architectural spaces of Rome. The music of
Tenebre
responds to this change. Claudio Simonetti was returning from his first experiences in the techno/dance field and, since the band was missing a real drummer, synthesizers and samplers took over, in a mix between rock and electronic music that once again perfectly blends with the images of the film. This reissue of the
Tenebre
OST vinyl follows the AMS Records tradition where a poster is attached to the LP replica, gathering information for collectors about all the known existing versions of the release, images of the discography, and movie fliers. This release also includes an essay presenting the film and the soundtrack in detail. Not to be missed by any horror movie and soundtracks fans!"

Catalog #:
AMS 033LP
"After a lengthy silence, Goblin reunited in 2000, again for a soundtrack for their long-time friend Dario Argento. As a matter of fact,
NonHoSonno
(sleepless) will be the last record made by the original line-up, and for many fans this is one of their best works, if not the best ever. Of course the original sound of the band is filtered by a more modern production, and the band focuses on symphonic synths and rather heavy guitar work. Surprisingly enough this soundtrack works great even as a stand-alone record. Songs are catchy and there are no weak moments, which are pretty normal for traditional soundtracks. An amazing and outstanding comeback! Still this is the Goblin we love: heavy, doomy, creepy and dark! Please note that
Nonhosonno
has never been reissued on vinyl ever." On colored vinyl; includes poster.

"This record was released for the legendary Cinevox label in 1980 as a soundtrack for Dario Argent's
Inferno
movie. The Italian director did not choose Goblin this time, but keyboard wizard Keith Emerson. The tracks are mainly based on classical music (a full orchestra was used for the score!), with only one track reminiscent of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, 'Taxi Ride.' Overall, this is a nice LP, with some (obviously) great piano playing. First time ever 180g audiophile deluxe vinyl reissue; includes a poster that analyzes thoroughly both soundtrack and movie." Catalog #:
AMS 040LP
"
Buio Omega
, two short and simple words that, in the mind of Goblin's fans as well as in the horror/splatter movies fanatics' one, recall sounds and images of a legendary film. Directed in 1979 by Joe D'Amato, it still impresses with the rawness and morbidity of its scenes, the trademark of a director who, much more than others, befits the term 'extreme.' The soundtrack of the film, whose main ingredients are keyboards and synthesizers, swings among echoes of Alan Parsons Project, funk/fusion and melancholic atmospheres. It was never officially published when the film came out, and was finally released on CD by Cinevox Record in 1997 (CDMDF 304) and again in 2008 (CD MDF 631) with two completely different tracklists. Goblin here appear in an atypical shape, with Massimo Morante (guitar) and Claudio Simonetti (keyboards) replaced by Carlo Pennisi and Maurizio Guarini respectively, completing the line-up along with Fabio Pignatelli (bass) and Augustin Marangolo (drums).
Buio Omega
is pressed on vinyl today for the first time ever, a release awaited for years by Goblin fans. The LP is housed in a beautiful gatefold cover showing inside recording sessions photos and promotional flyers/postcards. The tracklist is that of the first 1997 CD edition."

"An amazing collection of rarities for one of the most important bands of Italian '70s prog-rock: Garybaldi. This anthology contains a track that was meant to be included in their Gleemen debut, some live and alternate versions recorded between 1969 and 1998, and an amazing gem, three live tracks recorded during the Naples Be-In festival of 1973, one of the very few testimonies of those legendary festivals, as in those times no one used to record gigs in Italy! The artwork has been entirely conceived by Matteo Guarnaccia, one of the most important psychedelic painters in Italy: inspired by the famous

On the Road to YS
, is a landmark in Balletto di Bronzo's history, because it is the demo recording made by the band in 1971 at Phonogram studios Milan, featuring the embryonic versions of two songs that would later be merged into
YS
('Introduzione' and 'Secondo Incontro'), with English vocals, and arrangements that are quite different than the final tracks. However, these demos will convince Phonogram to offer the band a record deal. In 1972 they released
YS
. The rest is history. Taken from master tapes, and remastered by Gianni Leone and Nicola di Gia in 2010. Also featuring a bonus track: an unreleased live version of 'La tua casa comoda '" Gatefold sleeve.

"Featuring original band members Pilly Cossa, Baffo Banfi, Mauro Gnecchi, and blessed by the approval and contributions of singer/lyricist/flautist Claudio Canali -- famous for having retired in a monastery, in strong contrast to the hateful verses he wrote when playing in the original Biglietto per l'Inferno line-up -- this release is far more than a simple collection of newly recorded old tracks: the band's classics have been re-arranged - therefore the suffix '.folk' has been added to the band's name. 180 gram vinyl, triple gatefold sleeve! First 500 copies in white vinyl!"

"Another band that deserved much more consideration than they got, Murple released a single beautiful album in 1974 on the German Basf label, one of very few Italian releases on this label, that didn't care to promote the group at all and issued the record long after its recording. It's a shame, because
Io sono Murple
is a very well-regarded album, well presented in a fantasy cover and with lyric insert, and very well played by this experienced four-piece from Rome. The album contains a long suite divided on the two sides, based on the story of a penguin, and even if the lyrics are somehow naive, the music is very good, with classical inspirations especially in the keyboard playing and nice guitar parts. Vinyl reissue with the same gatefold cover and insert as the original from 1974. The first 300 copies are pressed in green vinyl."

"A quartet from Rome, though their singer Vincenzo 'Lord Enzo' Massetti came from Naples, they debuted with a single in 1971. The album, simply called
I Teoremi
, is one of the rarest Italian prog-era albums, though not a proper prog LP, as it contains a hard rock inspired sound in the same style as early Rovescio della Medaglia. It was released in 1972 on the small Polaris label, that also produced the
Alpha ralpha boulevard
LP by I Numi, and contains seven self-penned tracks, mostly in the hard rock vein, with light prog influences as in the long 'Mare della tranquillita', the only track including piano. A very good album whose original copies are worth a fortune. An incredibly rare album, this reissue is a perfect replica of the original one, with a textured gatefold cover and a flap on the right side as the original."

"When we announced the reunion of Alphataurus in 2010, after over 35 years of silence, many people waited for the usual odd nostalgia concert without major consequences. This proved not to be true, as the gig of November 6 was a memorable event for the lucky 700 people who came at the Bloom in Mezzago, a really great gig for passion and energy and the few who were lucky enough to see the band yesterday and today, confirm that Alphataurus has not lost an ounce of energy and enthusiasm that made them, forty years after their only LP, one of the most esteemed and beloved bands of the Italian seventies prog scene. After the success of that show Alphataurus did not stop, as the band promised to return on stage and studio permanently. As a first comeback, we propose the professional recording of that memorable evening, witnessing one of the greatest live comebacks of Italian prog. The dove is back! The vinyl release contains all the tracks of their debut work played live. Artwork by Adriano Marangoni, the same of their legendary debut! Available as black audiophile 180gr. vinyl." "One of the most experimental bands of the Italian prog scene, Dedalus were founded at the beginning of the '70s by Michele Bonansone (keyboards, cello, vocals) and Marco Di Castri (guitar, saxophone) in Pinerolo, near Turin. Their first eponymous LP consists of instrumental jazz-rock compositions, influenced by artists like Nucleus, Miles Davis, Soft Machine, Stockhausen and many other musical innovators of the time.
Dedalus
was originally released in 1973, and in the same year the band took part at the Avantgarde and New Trends Festival in Naples, being pointed as the real revelation of the event. The album, enclosed in one of the most peculiar Italian prog artworks by Cesare Monti, already contains some of the avant-garde hints which would be fully developed in the following

As Garybaldi records have always had special covers realized by famous painters, after Crepax and Guarnaccia, this time it's the turn of world famous Pietro Spica that realized a truly amazing artwork!" AMS 052LP
"Keyboardist Roberto Carlotto from Varese, whose nickname was Hunka Munka, began playing since his childhood, though his musical career was seriously compromised by an aircraft accident that caused him some heavy injuries. As a solo artist, Carlotto was easily recognized by his very good technical quality and the high level of his equipment that included an incredible number of different keyboards and even the early examples of tape drum machines. His only solo album,
Dedicato a Giovanna G.
, with his outrageous cover, is a soft-prog album, obviously dominated by Hunka's keyboards (especially his self-customized Hammond organ) and odd tremolo voice resembling Demis Roussos or Bee Gees. Among the backing musicians were drummer Nunzio 'Cucciolo' Favia from Osage Tribe and guitarist Ivan Graziani that had also played in Anonima Sound before leaving for a successful solo career. The album contains 11 short tracks, two of which also released on single, mostly in a pop style and sometimes marred by orchestral and backing singers arrangements, like in 'Io canterò per te.' Anyway it contains some nice moments for prog fans, like 'Ruote e sogni,' the album's longest track with very good organ playing. Wonderful reissue with original gimmick cover."

AMS 053LP
"
Vita sul pianeta
is a concept album released in 1973 by the Car Juke-Box record label, the same one responsible for the first Le Orme's LP's. It was recorded by Laser, a five-piece band from Rome previously named Il Laser di Elvezio Sbardella after their founder's name. Even if most people are interested in the album because it is extremely rare (one of the rarest in the Italian progressive rock field, with just a few hundred copies printed), the music should be re-estimated here, especially if we consider that the LP was recorded with a very limited budget and in just one take. It is also really varied, composed of both hard rock guitar and keyboard-based songs, with hints of beat and blues music, too. The band sadly split up right after the release of
Vita sul pianeta
, due to the lack of support from the record label and the keyboard player leaving to join the military service. Very difficult to find also in its previous reissues, the album is now available again on black, 180 gram audiophile vinyl."

AMS 055LP
"Among the rarest Italian progressive rock albums ever,
Cincinnato
is also one of the most interesting, musically speaking. The album was recorded by an ensemble of four musicians from around Varese, whose short story is similar to the one of many other prog artists of the time: they entered the studio with very restricted time and budget, and forged a little jazz-rock/fusion gem before disappearing (almost) completely. Of the longer LP tracks 'Ebete' undoubtedly stands out. It's an incredible 20-plus minute suite that fills the record's entire B side. The CD edition of this self-titled LP is very rare, but it's now available as a perfect vinyl replica of the original 1974 release (the band had already folded a year before). It comes on 180 gram audiophile black vinyl."

"In the so-called 'revival' of Italian progressive rock, which sees many historical bands reform, come back to the stage and, in some cases, record a new album, Alphataurus'
AttosecondO
is without any doubt one of the most awaited releases. Authors of a self-titled LP in 1973, which is unanimously considered a masterpiece, Alphataurus have come back together in 2010 to play at the Progvention evening, together with Garybaldi and Locanda delle Fate; the concert was recorded and released on the recent

. From this union, where only guitarist Guido Wassermann and keyboardist/main composer Pietro Pellegrini survived from the old line-up,
AttosecondO
was born: five long tracks, complex and intense, a prog/hard-rock album that brings back the never forgotten '70s feelings and sounds with a modern awareness and production. Comes on black, audiophile 180 gram vinyl." Gatefold sleeve.

"Yet another prog rarity recently discovered by Italian AMS Records. This is an excellent hard-progressive recording by the Italian Hero trio, originally released in 1974 for an obscure German label. A very pleasant music style overall, at times close to harder New Trolls, but mainly influenced by the hard-prog style of the British bands of the '70s released on the historic Vertigo label. One of the very first releases on AMS, this album is now printed on LP for its first legit reissue on this format."

LA MASCHERA DI CERA
Title:
Le porte del domani

Catalog #:
AMS 062LP
"More than ten years ago, in 2002, La Maschera di Cera released their first album, a record with an evident homage to the classic Italian progressive rock of the '70s, always taking care of the songwriting, managing the difficult task of creating something that has its roots in the past but is personal, inventive, and passionate at the same time. Here lies the originality of the MDC-sound. After a decade, four successful albums, and concerts played all around the globe, La Maschera di Cera close the circle proposing an album that is the sum of all the Italian prog homage matter. The band has in fact decided to write the continuation of the
Felona and Sorona
concept (Le Orme, 1973), a record that is unanimously considered a masterpiece, as well as a milestone in the world progressive rock scene. What pushed the group to dive into an adventure that offers great satisfaction on one hand, but can also be rugged and full of unexpected surprises and criticism on the other, is simply the desire to get involved, to try to do what no one has never done before, to actualize a discourse that began forty years ago and still offers artistic ideas to think about. The original concept is in fact a universal story of diversity and inequality that stays -- perhaps on purpose? -- unresolved at the end of the LP, thus leaving space for an inspired continuation and conclusion, clearly filtered through MDC's point of view. Musically, the band deepen their relationship with vintage sounds, but bring everything to a more actualized dimension, while lyrically the concept addresses the struggle between the two planets, one light and one dark; a fight that will only be resolved by two lovers from the two different worlds and by the otherworldly intervention of the deity that protects them.
Le porte del domani
('The Doors of Tomorrow') contains a 45-minute suite in nine parts and is released by AMS Records. The cover artwork has been made by Lanfranco, the same author of the original
Felona and Sorona
painting and who kindly gave the band the permission to use his 1968 opus 'Gli amanti del sogno' ('The Dream's Lovers')." Gatefold sleeve.
