Title: Aliens Psychos & Wild Things Volume 1
Label: ARCANIA INTERNATIONAL
Format: CD
Price: $14.00
Catalog #: ARCANIA 001CD
Repress of the 1st volume in this series (Volumes 2 & 3 are currently o/p). "Aliens Psychos & Wild Things Volume 1 is 1964-1969 garage punk and psychedelia from the Tidewater region (Norfolk, VA. Beach, etc.) of Virginia. Seven of the songs on the disc were licensed from Frank Guida, known for his #1 hits with Jimmy Soul and Gary 'U.S.' Bonds. Here his unique sound is applied to garage bands. Notable among songs never before available to the public is one by The Banana. Their take on The Velvet Underground's 'There She Goes Again' is the first documented cover of a VU song. Recorded in a tent by some G.I.s during the Vietnam war in 1967! All told, seven of the cuts are previously unissued. Now people everywhere can hear The Swinging Machine, feel The Heart Attacks, see The Wild Thing. Some of these original micro press 45s go for sums well into the upper hundreds of dollars... when they can be found. Going on 40 years, that is almost never. 16-page booklet. 26 songs. 69 minutes of music."

Title: Aliens Psychos & Wild Things Volume Fore
Label: ARCANIA INTERNATIONAL
Format: CD
Price: $14.00
Catalog #: ARCANIA 008CD
"Fore -- that's Volume 4 if you're counting. Arcania's Aliens series is primarily known for illuminating the shadow world of Virginia's mid-to-late '60s garage and psychedelic bands. The last Vol. (it's been almost 5 years) included half a dozen cuts from outside of VA. This is the reverse of that. Only half a dozen of the tracks on Fore are from the Old Dominion State. The roots of proto-psychedelia are to be heard on this compilation's first two tracks. Hollywood unknowns from 1965, never released until Arcania tracked them down: 'The Wind Blows Your Hair' is the same song recorded by The Seeds two years later. 'Don't Be Afraid' may have a very famous musician on it. 'It' is all in the notes of our 20-page booklet, along with loads of other info. FUZZ is the buzz word for this release, but there is some pop and jangle as well. All told, 7 of the 25 songs are previously unreleased. Only one song out of the batch has ever been reissued. Those that came out in the '60s are virtually unknown, even to most collectors. Unknown for now. But here comes Aliens Psychos & Wild Things... Fore! 20-page booklet. 25 songs. 74 minutes of music."
