Artist: SUMMERHILL
Title: Summerhill
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5002CD
Overseen by long-time Neil Young collaborator David Briggs, this Los Angeles quartet's eclectic album came and went in the summer of 1969. Spanning psychedelia, pop-psych, orchestrated ballads, country-rock and more, all wrapped up in a highly imaginative production, it's a lost treasure from the glory days of the U.S. West Coast, and makes its CD debut here. Includes historical liner notes.

Artist: SUGAR CREEK
Title: Please Tell A Friend
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5003CD
This superb blend of psychedelia, rural rock and acid-tinged folk was recorded in New York in 1969. The band had come together in Ohio earlier in the decade, rising from the ashes of bands named the Infinite Doorknob and Headstone Circus. Sugar Creek contained two future solo hit-makers, Jonathan Edwards and Joe Dolce, but their album failed to connect with the public, despite containing blistering cuts such as "A Million Years," "Memory Tree" and "Night Flash." Nonetheless, it has gone on to develop a significant cult reputation and sells for ever-growing sums on the collectors' market.

Artist: SAPPHIRE THINKERS
Title: From Within
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5004CD
This Californian quintet come across like a woozier Association, The Mamas & The Papas or Spanky & Our Gang on their sole LP, recorded in 1969. Their sophisticated arrangements feature prominent organ and harmony vocals, underpinned by fuzz guitar and a trippy vibe (are those magic mushrooms on the front cover?). Put simply, From Within is lost classic of West Coast psychedelic pop.

Artist: FOXX
Title: The Revolt Of Emily Young
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5005CD
This superb collection of skewed psychedelic pop was produced by Buzz Cason (renowned for his work with Elvis Presley, Jimmy Buffett and others) and made by a Texan quartet. Originally released in May 1970, and billed as "a rock novella," it follows the personal and spiritual development of its heroine, with melodic songs, psychedelic guitar and orchestrations by famed arranger Bergen White. A treat for psych-pop connoisseurs, it makes its long-overdue CD debut here.

Artist: FLOATING BRIDGE
Title: Floating Bridge
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5006CD
Boasting two fine lead guitarists (including Rich Dangel, a longtime member of legendary garage band the Wailers), in their brief existence, this Seattle quartet shared stages with The Doors, Led Zeppelin and The Grateful Dead. Their sole album came out in 1969, and combines exciting psychedelic rock with inventive renditions of contemporary standards (including an instrumental "Hey Jude" that has been acclaimed as one of the best Beatles covers of all time). It's essential listening for all fans of late '60s acid rock. Includes liner notes.

Artist: MELCHIOR ALIAS
Title: Melchior Alias...
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5007CD
This French-Canadian ultra-rarity makes its long-overdue CD debut here. Originally issued in 1969, it's a crazed blend of catchy pop, funky grooves and spaced-out psychedelia, with plenty of acid guitar. The identity of the enigmatic Melchior Alias remains unknown, but numerous leading lights of Quebec's progressive music scene are involved, including arranger and future disco luminary Denis Lepage and engineer Peter Tessier (later to make his own rare album). It seems likely that the credit for Robert Goulet as musical director is a joke -- but anything seems possible on this most strange and mysterious of discs. "From Quebec and sung in French, this goofy fusion of guitar, organ, drums and mild electronics has an amiable air of stoned experimentalism ... the highlights are the bizarre groover 'Itineraire 9,' laid-back ballad 'L'Espace d'un Été' and spacey 'L'Aquarium,' which recall the more experimental work of Michel Polnareff and Serge Gainsbourg. Two 45s were extracted, and quite a lot of effort went into the packaging, but promotion and distribution must have been poor, as it's easily one of the rarest major label albums of the period." --Patrick Lundborg, The Acid Archives

Artist: GREEN
Title: To Help Somebody
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5008CD
One of the most unjustly-neglected bands of their time, Green got together at North Texas State University in the late '60s, and released a stunning psych-pop debut in 1969. Their largely-overlooked second LP first appeared in September 1971, and makes its long-overdue CD debut here. A classy combination of rock and roll and ballads, with acid-tinged guitar and tasteful horns, it comes across as an idiosyncratic amalgam of The Beatles, The Zombies and Buffalo Springfield, making it a must-have for fans of classic '60s psychedelia and early 1970s rural rock. Liner notes included.

Artist: MAHOGANY
Title: Mahogany
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5009CD
Though they were contemporaries of Fleetwood Mac, Chicken Shack, Savoy Brown and others, this youthful British blues-rock quartet's album only saw release in America and Holland, unfairly dooming it to obscurity. Originally released in 1969, it features exciting rock songs as well as more contemplative numbers, with especially fine guitar and harmonica playing, and is sure to appeal to all fans of electric blues. It makes its long-awaited CD debut here, complete with background notes.

Artist: WEST COAST POP ART EXPERIMENTAL BAND, THE
Title: Where's My Daddy?
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5010CD
This is the fifth album by psych legends The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. Recorded shortly after this legendary Californian psychedelic band had left Reprise (where they'd made three classics), this oddity is more pop-based than their previous efforts, though the eccentric influence of frontman Bob Markley is still strong. Released in the summer of 1969, it sold poorly and hasn't been widely heard since, making this CD reissue especially welcome. Includes liner notes.

Artist: JACOBS CREEK
Title: Jacobs Creek
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5011CD
This New Jersey band was led by brothers Lon and Derrek Van Eaton, who are best-known for the subsequent music they made for The Beatles' Apple label. The sole album made by Jacobs Creek is a fine collection of acid-tinged rural rock, which first appeared in 1969. With arrangements encompassing electric guitars, horns and sitar, it's an eclectic treat for fans of vintage psychedelia, and makes its long-overdue CD debut here.

Artist: MARKLEY
Title: A Group
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5012CD
Though credited as the sole work of The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band frontman Bob Markley, this is in fact the final album made by psychedelic legends WCPAEB, recorded and released towards the end of 1969, and released under a new name in a final attempt to find commercial success. A far cry from the experimental rock of earlier releases, the album contains melodic songs and delicate arrangements, though the eccentric influence of Markley is as strong as ever, making it essential for fans of the band. Finally back on CD, with background notes.

Artist: HEAD OVER HEELS
Title: Head Over Heels
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5013CD
One of the loudest acts of their time, this Detroit-based power trio made only one album, which stands as a lost proto-metal classic. A product of the same scene that spawned The Stooges and MC5, they play raw and dirty on a superb selection of self-penned material, as well as a molten cover of blues staple "Red Rooster." Unusually, the LP (originally released in June 1971) combines live and studio recordings, perfectly showcasing their inventive take on crunching hard rock and searing power ballads. Finally available on CD once again, with background notes.

Artist: DEIRDRE WILSON TABAC, THE
Title: The Deirdre Wilson Tabac
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5014CD
Recorded in Philadelphia in 1969, this trio's irresistible blend of funk, jazz and pop didn't connect with audiences on its original release, but has gone on to attract a considerable cult following. Truly groovy, soulful weirdness that you kind of can't stop listening to. Deirdre Wilson Tabac's sole album makes its CD debut here, accompanied by background notes.

Artist: BLACKWOOD APOLOGY
Title: The House Of Leather
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5015CD
The brainchild of 23 year-old writer/guitarist Dale Menten, The House Of Leather is a rock opera set in a bordello during the U.S. Civil War. It was originally released in December 1968, shortly before it was staged as a sell-out rock opera in Minnesota. A fine mixture of acid-tinged pop-rock and ballads, it makes its long-overdue CD debut here -- together with liner notes that tell the story of the production's ill-fated move to New York in 1970.

Artist: SLEEPY HOLLOW
Title: Sleepy Hollow
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5016CD
This trio's sole album has been described as one of the most uncanny Beatles sound-alikes ever made, and now it makes its long-overdue CD debut here. Recorded in Philadelphia in 1972, it contains several perfect pop songs, and is sure to delight fans of the Fab Four and other early '70s pop wizards such as Badfinger and We All Together.

Title: Love Cycle
Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AU 5018CD
This Seattle quintet shared stages with legends such as The Doors and The Grateful Dead, but only got to make one album, which appeared in January 1968. A heady blend of five stand-alone tracks and the side-long epic from which it took its name, it melds influences such as rock, jazz, classical and electronica to powerful effect, and makes its long-overdue return to CD here, featuring the original artwork.

Artist: EARTH ISLAND

Label: AURORA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00

Touching on rock, psychedelia and sunshine pop, it boasts fine vocal harmonies throughout, and makes its long-overdue CD debut here.
