Artist: JONES, LEE
Title: Electronic Frank
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AUS 002CD
This is the debut solo album by Berlin-based Lee Jones. He lived in London until 2002, where he was producing and remixing as the successful downtempo/nu-jazz artist Hefner, but followed his heart to Berlin where he was inspired by the music and clubs to move into a new production style. Most recently, he's become known as the main creative force behind MyMy, whose debut album Songs For The Gentle on Playhouse made waves across the globe. Since 2007, he's released his beautiful solo works on Aus Music and Just, while also collaborating with Berlin local hero Daniel Dreier on releases for Upon You and releasing new MyMy material on Berlin's illustrious Ostgut Ton imprint. Electronic Frank is full of surprising and heartwarming moments that open out unexpectedly from richly-textured grooves. He pulls melody and harmony from the most abstract places and spaces, yet makes them work together like few producers can. His wistful melodies, combined with his spacious programming, allows you to drift off into your own thoughts, yet the detail in the sound design can snap you back to reality in a second. The first half of the album is a lush, rich, intricate tapestry. Quirky and playful. Inviting and detailed. The pace is gentle, the vibe relaxed. Individually sung words and vocal snippets lend a human touch, and when layered with an imaginary orchestra full of opulent harps, sweeping strings, delicate pianos, bouncy accordions and all manner of weird and wonderful instruments, it creates a dramatic effect. On "Roadwork" and "The Secret," the groove is stripped back, giving the melodies a feeling of space and power. The mood darkens with the sinister guitar licks of "Shoe Shine" before the intensity dial is cranked up fully with "Every Click Matters," which sounds like Timbaland might if he'd hung out in Berlin for the last 5 years. "It Is, Isn't It" and "Safari" are drawn from equally freakish sound pallettes -- trumpets (real and of the Elephant variety), flutes, timpani, insect sounds, bird calls, the list goes on. They are percussively explosive, rhythmically beguiling, full of surprises and packed with sounds that shouldn't work but do. Brilliantly. The climax of the album is "MDMAzing" and we think the title says it all. Don't take it too seriously -- it's supposed to make you smile.

Artist: SIDESHOW
Title: Admit One
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: AUS 003CD
This is Fin Greenall's (aka Sideshow) second full-length release for the Aus Music label. Greenall would describe himself as the engine of Sideshow, backed up by the band he has been touring with as legendary London label Ninja Tune's first and foremost singer-songwriter, Fink. During the band's downtime in between touring Europe and the USA, and writing his critically-acclaimed soul-blues-dub, they came together in his studio in Brighton to bring us some more trademark dub-infused goodness. Most of the tracks are live versions, and covers or versions with samples from older records in the spirit of paying tribute, not stealing ideas. This fine line runs throughout the history of dub and reggae, and runs through this record. Sideshow admits that "Dub to me is about space, vibe, texture, it's about not thinking too hard, but feeling. Dub is like the church of music to me -- a simple innocence with immense power." Admit One has brought together musicians such as Guy Whittaker (bass), Tim Thornton (drums) and Ellie Wyatt (strings), as well as a number of talented vocalists including Tina Grace (Moby, etc.), Samar, Cortney Tidwell and Paul St. Hilaire. Also worth a mention are Fin's Quadraverb GT and Boss SE50 fx units -- both are crucial in achieving the Sideshow sound.

Title: All Night Long
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 2CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: AUS 004CD
Aus Music presents a 2CD package that aims to fondly remember the first 20 releases from the label, with a DJ mix of their back catalog by A&R and co-founder (alongside Sideshow) Will Saul (CD2). This compilation also looks forward to the next 20 releases with 13 totally new and exclusive tracks from the core roster, friends of the label, and future artists (CD1). From the live dub of Sideshow through to the layered, undulating techno of Sian via the heartwarming, richly-textured grooves of Lee Jones, Aus' aim has always been to accompany you from dusk 'til dawn -- all night long. CD1 opens with Sideshow's reworking of his collaboration with Cortney Tidwell before Roland Appel eases you into the realms of disco, his guitar licks and piano refrains carrying the torch of live instrumentation forward before Sian, Shur-I-Kan and Brooks turn up the electronic dial while maintaining the disco groove. The mysterious Pearson Sound (an anonymous, core member of the burgeoning dubstep-meets-techno scene) changes up the rhythm and brings his stripped-back yet inherently soulful sound before Appleblim & Ramadanman present their first foray into the world of house. Martyn's P-funk-inspired melody and bass line provides another fresh take on his deliciously broken rhythms. Lawrence reworks Lee Jones' in-demand single "Aria" for the project, which is typically sleek and graceful, leading into the housier section of the album. MyMy deliver one of their trademark melodic bombs and Lee Jones gets uncharacteristically pumping, while Will Saul & Tam Cooper bring the soul and melancholy before Martyn signs off with a potent piece to pull at your heartstrings. Other artists include: Prins Thomas, The Mole, Motorcitysoul, Stimming, Paul St. Hilaire, and Château Flight.

Artist: MARTYN/SIDESHOW (FEAT. CORTNEY TIDWELL)
Title: Electric Purring
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 10"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 009EP
Due to heavy demand, Aus Music releases a limited 10" of Martyn's "Electric Purring" and a version of Sideshow's "Television" feat. Cortney Tidwell -- both which originally appeared on the All Night Long 2CD compilation. The Sideshow track is pure live dub, while Martyn's track is sweet and nostalgic.

Artist: TIDWELL, CORTNEY
Title: Palace EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1025EP
Nashville's indie singer-songwriter Cortney Tidwell releases a single for Aus music. Will Saul fell in love with "Palace" after hearing Cortney's sophomore album Boys and asked City Slang if he could remix it. He wanted the power of the song and melody to be left to breathe and has added no more than drums, bass and some careful flashes of melody. Michel Cleis perfectly compliments the hypnotic, melodic beauty of the original, reframing it perfectly for the dancefloor.

Artist: JOY ORBISON
Title: The Shrew Would Have Cushioned The Blow EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1026EP
Joy Orbison has found a sound that marries elements of house, two-step, jungle, techno and dubstep. Both "The Shrew" and "So Derobe" deliver devilishly catchy melodies and bass-lines, full of feeling and soul. Big drops, super-heavy drum programming and grooves that sound like only Joy Orbison could. There's shades of garage, shades of funky, shades of old school R&B. Actress' remix is a raw, unconstructed tool that in the right hands will create huge tension on the floor. Already destined to be as much of a classic as "Hyph Mngo."

Artist: RAMADANMAN & MIDLAND
Title: Your Words Matter/More Than You Know
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1027EP
Ramadanman and Midland partner up for their first joint EP. Together they fuse the sounds and vibes of classic house and garage with the sub-frequencies and aesthetics of dubstep to create something completely fresh. Ramadanman co-runs the label Hessle Audio with Pangaea and Ben UFO. Midland is an all-round music federate and firm believer that genres really are just made up to try and box people in. He aims to create a homogeneous sound that people from different musical persuasions can appreciate.

Artist: TOURETTES & APPLEBLIM, AL
Title: Lipsmacker EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1028EP
The Lipsmacker EP is a collaboration between bass enthusiasts Al Tourettes and Appleblim. Continuing Aus' trend of fusing elements of traditional house and techno with the sub-frequencies and rhythms of dubstep, this EP is a slice of forward-thinking electronic music. Deadboy's mix references everything from Scott Walker to early '90s hardcore in the midst of a rich dose of UK garage and house. Nick Moore aka Linkwood provides a confident mix of '80s boogie, Detroit techno, house and deep soul.

Artist: SAUL & MIKE MONDAY, WILL
Title: Sequence 1 EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1029EP
Inspired by the stripped-back technical set-ups of yesteryear, Mike Monday and Will Saul present the Sequence 1 EP, the product of the two artists limiting themselves to a Roland 909, a Korg Kaos Pad, a Dave Smith Polyevolver and recording their jamming on the fly. Having previously released together on Buzzin' Fly, and remixed for DFA and Applepips (Appleblim & Ramadanman), the duo present two exclusive tracks that explore the cutting-edge, leftfield sounds of house music. Includes a remix by Scuba.

Artist: SIDESHOW
Title: Fink Dubs EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1030EP
Ninja Tune records have allowed Aus Music to release some of Sideshow's deep, intensely dubbed-out interpretations of the latest Fink album Sort Of Revolution, the critically-acclaimed international singer-songwriter's third album for the legendary stable. "Sort Of Dubolution" (a dub of the album's title track), comes as a classic Sideshow live dub epic, drenched in Fink's signature vocals alongside an earth-moving bass line. Follower "Dub It All" (an edit of Fink's "See It All") is a stabbier, angular take on the original.

Artist: RAMADANMAN & APPLEBLIM
Title: Void 23 EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1031EP
This highly-anticipated single from Ramadanman & Appleblim features a re-edit from one of the cornerstones of electronic music, Carl Craig. The original track fuses the production sensibilities of dubstep with the sounds and vibes of techno to devastating effect. Carl Craig changes the rhythm structure of the original to enable it to work in peak-time house and techno settings. Erol Alkin declared that the edit "just blew my mind" after hearing Ramadanman drop it at a gig.

Artist: SCB
Title: Loss/FutureUnknown
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1132EP
SCB is a house/techno project by Paul Rose, better known as UK bass pioneer and Hotflush Recordings owner, Scuba. Loss/FutureUnknown, on Will Saul's Aus Music imprint, is the first original SCB material to surface outside of Rose's own circle of labels. "Loss," with its spacey melodies and repeating vocal slices, builds into a slab of pure dancefloor joy. "FutureUnknown" fills out the atmospherics with dark stabs and driving rhythms which give way to an almost Scuba-esque brand of floating euphoria.

Artist: MIDLAND
Title: Through Motion
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1133EP
Leeds-based producer Midland (aka Harry Agius) offers an excursion that explores the boundaries of 2-step, UK garage and techno. "Through Motion" shows Midland's ability to seamlessly take the spirit of UK garage and fuse it with techno. The track's moody piano melody is punctured by a dark, pitch-shifted vocal and encircled by his warm trademark atmospherics. "Shelter" is a brooding, cavernous affair whose vocals and whispery atmospherics make this the perfect late-night tool. Includes a remix by Tevo Howard.

Artist: FITZGERALD, GEORGE
Title: Silhouette EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1134EP
George FitzGerald presents his debut for Aus Music. FitzGerald once again manages to create a world in which garage, dubstep, house, R&B and a host of other musical influences happily co-exist. On "Silhouette" hints of warm acid, layered, oscillating synth lines, propulsive beats and vocal samples make this a peak-time affair. "Reset" is eight minutes of forward-thinking UK garage combined with the melodic sensibilities of Detroit techno. For the "Silhouette" remix, John Roberts develops a relentless broken groove.

Artist: COTTAM
Title: Deep Deep Down EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1135EP
Despite a techno upbringing warming up for the likes of Surgeon, Dave Clarke and Regis, Paul Cottam aka Cottam finds inspiration in the slo-mo tempos of Mark E and The Revenge to produce his own brand of dusty soul and hip hop-grounded house on "Deep Deep Down." Ukrainian producer Vakula strips away the propulsive heartbeat of the original and replaces it with an off-kilter, space-out pulse reminiscent of Theo Parrish.

Artist: JONES, LEE
Title: The Moose Mingles EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 1136EP
Whether on his own or with Nick Höppner as My My, Lee Jones has been DJing and making music for more than a decade. Next up from him is a futuristic 4-tracker including two remixes. On "Moment," Jones offers up a bass-driven house number that hints at his jazz roots while pushing forward into garage territory. For the remix, George FitzGerald delivers his most straight-up, heads-down house production to date. Next up is the quirky "Duvel," which Midland twists into a moody, multi-genre convergence.

Artist: JONES, LEE
Title: There Comes a Time
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: AUS 604EP
With remix and additional production by Prins Thomas. "Essex bred Lee Jones lived in London until 2002, where he was producing and remixing as the downtempo/ nu-jazz artist, Hefner. After following his heart to Berlin, he was inspired by the music and clubs to move into a new production style. For the past 2 years he has been recording and performing live as part of the successful Playhouse signed trio, My My. For 'There Comes A Time' Lee's blissed out chords drift effortlessly around a squelchy melody while chunky drums bounce in and out of the mix. The tension builds as the groove evolves, more sublime melody is introduced into the arrangement that'll have you reaching for those lasers. It's one of those tracks that just oozes its own unique character. Futuristic deep house at its very best. On the flip side, Prins Thomas gets to work. The master of the delay unit creates a build-up of feedback and meshes this into an ominously throbbing bassline that swells with intensity throughout the arrangement to create tension and impact. When combined with Lee's euphoric chords it creates real excitement. Groundbreaking modern disco. Norwegian Prins Thomas is an underdog remix champ renowned for his disco stylings. Label boss of Feedelity, where he releases with Lindstrøm, his background was in rather bad band-projects and collecting records. As well as DJing, remixing and producing, he also plays semi-live with Lindstrøm."

Artist: SIDESHOW
Title: African Cheri (Stefan Goldmann Rmx)
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: AUS 705EP
"Sideshow is the alter ego of Fink -- the well-respected work-o-holic producer, musician, remixer and live performer on Ninja Tune. Sideshow's sound was born of a need to play pure dance music, initially created as the antithesis of the turntablist heavy Ninja culture, but drawing on the experience. For the original of 'African Cheri' we find ourselves asking the question 'is it disco, is it dub, is it techno, or all of the above?' Who cares when Sideshow's at the controls, as the groove is so tight. Starting out all straight and robotic until the disco loops and percussive samples are cut into the mix. The live bass is accompanied by Sideshow's typical dub flashes before things are taken to the next level with a squelchy electronic variation of the bass line that is, well, quite simply... filthy. Stefan Goldmann uses the guitars from Sideshow's original to set the musical tone before building a wonderfully tripped out melody. Layers of found sound, clicks and whirrs are delicately woven around Stefan's resonant drums and lead melody, resulting in a delicate harmony that underpins the mix."

Artist: MOTORCITYSOUL
Title: Kazan (Exit Cube)
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: AUS 706EP
"Frankfurt's eclectic duo of C-Rock & Matthias Vogt have released records under the moniker of Motorcitysoul for the past three years, putting out on Infracom, Stir15 and LoFi Stereo before this, their first for Aus. Hailing from Germany's own 'Motor City,' the pair have developed a reputation for creating soulful and deep house that more than competes with their stateside counterparts. Kazan's taught, tough drums and a chunky sub bass combine with rich analog lead sequences and a heartfelt string line straight out of the Motor City to drive this track to its smiley, sweaty peak. An old school appreciation, futuristic production touches and a real musical pedigree give this real power and more than enough weight to ignite the floor. With My My's remix the original shines through the fantastically bouncy groove with enough delicate tweaks and flashes of their own sweet melody to make this My My through and through."

Artist: SAUL & LEE JONES, WILL
Title: Hug The Scary
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: AUS 707EP
"Aus continue to release the best and brightest of contemporary dance music with the Hug The Scary EP, a collaboration between luminaries Will Saul and Lee Jones. Will Saul is best known as the head of Simple Records, up for nomination as Best British Label in DJ Magazine this year and also sister label to the more experimental Aus imprint on which this EP is released. Opener 'Hug The Scary' is a transcendental journey. Trace echoes of melody encircle an intensifying percussive step, filtering to a chimed key reflection. Tonal themes fade in, compete, distort and then depart, making way for peaks of overwhelming melody, with only the fittest surviving and elevating to the sublime. On the flip side, Partial Arts (the duo of Ewan Pearson and Al Usher) give their own, heavily percussive account of the proceedings. Stormy fuzz and bubble bath accents introduce a funk bassline and interplay between looped guitar and tonal melody. A sci-fi synth haze halts and then dictates the progression into a saturated melodic climax."

Artist: SIAN
Title: Apple Tree
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: AUS 708EP
"Graham Goodwin aka Sian is a Dublin native raised gypsy-style in southern Spain. As a self-confessed workaholic spaced-out nature junkie, his commitment to the avant garde lifestyle has seen him grace decks at the nicest clubs and festivals in the world. He's also released two albums and many singles on labels as diverse as Pokerflat, Dessous, Karmarouge, Dirtcrew and Einmaleins. The title track is a lush techno affair that nods to old Detroit, building with rasps, clicks and clocks that drive through purring fx and melodic chamber resonance. A gentle synth progression moves towards the finish through metallic block echos and whirring tones. Berlin deep house mogul Efdemin invokes a sublime transformation and heads straight for the Balearic islands. The swinging 4/4 beat builds steam with shakers suddenly illuminated by bright resonating chimes and mellow melodic pulses. The warm melody floats like a scented summer breeze over a wave of hi-hats, stabbed synth and salt shake shuffles. Sunshine on a rainy day! Efdemin recently released his debut album on his home, Dial Records, home to Pantha Du Prince, Lawrence and Carsten Jost."

Artist: MOTORCITYSOUL
Title: Space Kätzle
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: AUS 709EP
"Monster Sydenham remix! Frankfurt's eclectic duo of C-Rock & Matthias Vogt return with their second release on Aus. They have released records under the moniker of Motorcitysoul for the past three years, putting out on Infracom, Stir15 and LoFi Stereo. Hailing from Germany's own Motown, the pair have developed a reputation for creating soulful and deep house that more than competes with their State-side counterparts, typified by their celebrated collaboration with vocalist Chez Damier 'Kids In The Streets' in 2005. 'Space Kätzle' has a beautifully simple yet immediately recognizable chord sequence, with layers of sparkling melody that cascade down the stereo pallet for what is a true end of the night anthem. For the remix, Jerome Sydenham toughens up the drums, adds a delicate tom pattern and backs up the original melody with his own chords taking the Space Cats (Space Kätzle) into a darker, more tribal place."

Artist: JONES, LEE
Title: As You Like It
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 812EP
"Essex-bred Lee Jones lived in London until 2002, where he was producing and remixing as the downtempo/nu-jazz artist, Hefner. After following his heart to Berlin, he was inspired by the music and clubs to move into a new production style and for the past 3 years he's been the creative production force behind My My, whose debut album Songs For The Gentle made waves across the globe. 'As You Like It': a crisp lead melody leads us by the hand into a full-on old school Chicago stab fest. Lee's typically intricate tom pattern nestles underneath the taut drums, keeping the rhythm section bouncing along. Yes, it is indeed how we like it! Perhaps Lee's most peak time record to date. 'Recloose Remix': a real summer treat. Matt reinterprets Lee's stabs and adds his own p-funk infused live bass line and chords, which totally change the vibe. In the the words of Jimpster, 'a mutoid boogie rinse out.' 'The Ice Train Cometh': shimmering pads are intertwined with snippets of a female vocal EQ'd to sound eerily icy. Only Lee could make this '80s bass sound feel so contemporary. Matthew Chicoine aka Recloose, made his name signed to the fantastic Planet E label over the past decade. Having studied music at Ann Arbor and cutting his teeth as a college DJ, Recloose went on to be a turntablist for Carl Craig's Innerzone Orchestra, the esoteric Uri Caine Ensemble, globe-trotting far and wide to collect musical influences. The burgeoning musical scene of Wellington has offered fresh inspiration to a mind already brimming with talent."

Artist: JONES, LEE
Title: Safari EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 813EP
Safari is the first EP taken from Lee Jones' debut album Electronic Frank on Aus Music. "Safari" evokes the sounds of a seriously twisted jungle. Elephant trumpets swathed in reverb and detuned bird calls combine with percussive loops to create something truly fresh. Stimming tweaks and twists the sounds, increasing the groove while fattening up the drums. "Roadworks"' jacking, stripped-back groove and pitch-shifted stab sequence is softened with a blissful chord sequence that changes the vibe completely -- spine-tingling.

Artist: JONES, LEE
Title: Soon EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 814EP
Soon is the second EP taken from Lee Jones' debut album Electronic Frank on Aus Music. Quirky and playful, 'Soon' is full of real instrumentation with individually sung words and vocal snippets. The Mole remix cuts up the vocals and uses fragments for percussive hits with melodic textures. Reminiscent of early Isolee, "The Secret" offers a deliciously soulful lead line while the title of "MDMAzing" says it all -- don't take it too seriously, it's supposed to make you smile.

Artist: SIDESHOW (FEAT. PAUL ST. HILAIRE)
Title: If Alone
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 916EP
If Alone is the first single taken from Sideshow's Admit One full-length. The original features Paul St. Hilaire's rich vocal propelled by an unrelenting bass pattern and a hypnotic guitar line. Château Flight create space for the vocals while eerie FX dance around the melancholic melody. The dub version features a rubbery bass line and a cut-up breakdown. Appleblim & Komonazmuk's remix starts out mournful but ends on a euphoric high, as a set of stabs make you reach for the lasers.

Artist: SIAN
Title: Red Cloud
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 918EP
Graham Goodwin aka Sian reveals two melodic shades on his fourth release for Aus. On "Red Cloud," delicate and wistful chords provide a haunting backdrop for his trademark undulating grooves. "World Within A World" provides an instantly-recognizable lead melody that propels the track euphorically forward. Minilogue turn in an epic remix that is hypnotic in the truest sense of its techno meaning. Few acts can make a 12-minute arrangement so captivating. A tribal trip if ever there was one.

Volume 2 of a 3-part series splitting up the music from the All Night Long CD into 3 vinyl EPs. The mysterious Pearson Sound changes up the rhythm and brings his stripped-back yet inherently soulful sound and Appleblim & Ramadanman present their first foray into the world of house. Martyn's P-funk-inspired melody and bass line provides another fresh take on his deliciously broken rhythms.

Artist: VA
Title: All Night Long EP3
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 921EP
Volume 3 of a 3-part series splitting up the music from the All Night Long CD into 3 vinyl EPs. Aus Music thought it only fitting that there should be a different take on Lee Jones' "Aria" for the project, as it has been the most in-demand single from the label's first 20 releases. Lawrence's reworking is typically sleek and graceful, and Sian and Brooks both turn up the electronic dial while maintaining the disco groove.

Artist: APPEL, ROLAND
Title: Snow In Spring Time EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 923EP
Roland Appel started producing music and spinning records in the early '90s, combining Detroit techno, folk, disco, soul and house. One of the most in-demand tracks from the All Night Long album, "Snow..." gets a full single release. Old school disco in every way, certainly not "space" and nothing "nu" about it. DFA darlings Runaway turn it in a slow-burning house direction that builds tension until every last drop is wrung out in a sweaty pool on the dancefloor.

Artist: MYMY & EMIKA
Title: Price Tag EP
Label: AUS MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AUS 924EP
On the title track, a playful MyMy bass line and drum program perfectly complement Emika's sumptuous vocal. The final breakdown somehow evokes thoughts of the English countryside and a Morricone western. "Lights Go Down" is a more heads-down, hypnotic affair, with a pulsating bass riff intertwining with Emika's vocal to create a heady, evolving groove. Appleblim & Komonazmuk's remix features proto-garage drums and spine-tingling melodies that ride atop a West Country via Bootsy bass-line. When the sub line drops, you WILL smile.
