For the first time since it was originally released in 1993, The Gun Club's Lucky Jim sees the light of day on vinyl. This record is nowadays impossible to find on LP and has become one of those crazy-priced items on internet bids. This is the very last album Jeffrey Lee Pierce recorded and it is another masterpiece (like any of his recordings all through his career in Gun Club or solo). This record is probably the darkest one he ever recorded and is kind of an epitaph in advance of his sad and early passing in 1996. Released by Bang! Gutterville Splendour Six was established in Perth, Australia in the late-'90s and helped spawn later bands such as The Drones. The sound is clearly what The Drones came up with afterwards -- a brutal amalgam of electricity, distortion, feedback and desperation, drinking directly from the fountains of The Scientists and The Birthday Party. Guided by Gareth Liddiard's guitar, Gutterville Splendour Six produce slow, loud and nasty melodies, fronted by the complex and tortured lyrics which became the identifying stamp of The Drones. Among other band members, and besides Gareth Liddiard, we find other Drones members, such as Rui Pereira, as well as members of what years after came to be Kill Devil Hills. This album compiles the only EP they released back in the day plus all other recordings from this formative band. Finally available on this record is the missing link between The Scientists and The Drones. Released only on 2LP with a gatefold cover.

The Yes-Men were the band led by Sean Greenway (God) and Stewart Cunningham (Leadfinger, Proton Energy Pills, Brother Brick, Asteroid B612, etc.) in the late '90s in Australia. They recorded this masterpiece of high-energy rock and roll called Prosody where the Sonic Rendezvous Band meets the darkest and angriest New Christs. This magnificent album was released in 1999 on limited edition back in the day and it is now again in 2011 available remastered, in a deluxe vinyl edition with gatefold cover and thick 150 gram vinyl, and including exclusive text from Jaime Gonzalo (Ruta 66 Magazine co-owner) and previously-unpublished pictures in a limited edition of 500 copies. This record is with no doubt one of the most important records of Australian high-energy rock ever recorded. It's a classic.

Five Dollar Priest is formed, for this occasion, by members of Speedball Baby, Swans and Mercury Rev, and that´s what it sounds like. With no concessions. In 1995 during the grunge boom, when Steve Turner had a break from Mudhoney, Kim Salmon (The Scientists) was invited to join the band in Seattle. So Salmon accepted the invitation from his friends and flew from Australia to Seattle to check whether the experience was viable and worthy. After a while they amicably split, leaving behind this gem along the way -- lost for the last 15 years and recently found. Then in September 2010, Mudhoney and Kim Salmon met again in New York for the ATP Festival, with a band list including The Scientists, Mudhoney, Stooges, Sonic Youth, and more. On this occasion, they spoke about releasing the record. And here it is... and it's a masterpiece. Like a cross between Kim Salmon The Surrealists' Sin Factory and Mudhoney's early albums, this is a gem of swamp and grunge like no other before. Housed in a deluxe vinyl-only gatefold package.

Bloodloss was the band formed by members of Mudhoney and Lubricated Goat (Mark Arm, Guy Maddison, Martin Bland and Renestair EJ). They played scuzzed-out, spastic, jazz-influenced, grunge punk-blues with one foot in the garage and both legs in the swamp. This record is their lost last album, recorded in Seattle in 1996 and not released until now, and it sounds like a cross between The Flesh Eaters' A Minute To Pray A Second To Die and The Scientists' The Human Jukebox. The band is not active any more, but this record, released by Bang! Records on deluxe gatefold edition, is a must for those who follow Captain Beefheart, Scientists, Mudhoney and Beasts Of Bourbon.
