The Fantastic Voyage of Goblin
Label:
BELLA CASA (UK)
Format:
CD
Price:
$17.00
Catalog #:
CASA 001CD
Best-of Goblin compilation, including soundtrack songs from
Profondo Rosso
,
Suspiria
,
Dawn Of The Dead
,
Tenebre
, and more. "An outstanding progressive rock group in their own right, Goblin's name is synonymous with the cinema of Dario Argento, the director of stylised Italian horror. For him they composed such celebrated scores as
Profondo Rosso
, that starred David Hemmings and which provided the group with a domestic number one hit and the hallucinatory
Suspiria
, which recalls early Can and the free-form improvisations of Amon Duul II and Popul Vuh. Goblin's music is astoundingly effective both as rock and in the context of the films and is internationally celebrated as such. Like David Axelrod, Goblin have been widely sampled and are held in great esteem by the Chemical Brothers and those of that generation."

MORRICONE, ENNIO
Title:
Morricone In The Brain
Label:
BELLA CASA (UK)
Format:
CD
Price:
$17.00
Catalog #:
CASA 002CD
"This album will take you take you on a profoundly psychedelic trip through one of the most fertile imaginations in 20th century music. It is a mind-bending seventy minutes with the maestro -- Ennio Morricone. Ennio Morricone was the biggest living man in film music, and this album is when he was in the beat pop acid '60s and '70s at the height of his creative powers when his abilities as a composer went far beyond even what the best international groups in each genre were capable of. The majority of the music featured on this incredible compilation is from obscure European art movies and (long deleted) is being released in digital format for the first time.
Morricone In the Brain
is a testament to Morricone's incredible artistry and also his versatility. An album at which to marvel it will surely be enthusiastically received critically and will be essential to any student of the maestro or the genres of psychedelia or film."

LEGRAND, MICHEL
Title:
Eva OST
Label:
BELLA CASA (UK)
Format:
CD
Price:
$17.00
Catalog #:
CASA 003CD
"An extremely rare Michel Legrand film soundtrack. His score for Joseph Losey's important film
Eva
(that famously starred Jeanne Moreau) is amongst his greatest, most original work, sharing the charm and imagination of the works for which he is best known:
The Umbrellas Of Cherbourg
and
Windmills Of Your Mind
, which propelled Legrand to international superstardom. On
Eva
, Legrand's music is complimented by songs by Billie Holiday ('Willow Weep For Me' and 'Loveless Love') and Tony Middleton, that are used brilliantly. Legrand is a deity in France, held in deep affection in Japan and is respected the whole world over."

UMILIANI, PIERO
Title:
Piero's Pleasure: The Touch of Piero Umiliani
Label:
BELLA CASA (UK)
Format:
CD
Price:
$17.00
Catalog #:
CASA 004CD
"In Italian soundtrack circles, the name Piero Umiliani is spoken with the same reverence as his famous contemporary Ennio Morricone. Umiliani's most successful composition, the world-renowned, 'Mah Na Mah Na' is included, followed by over 70 extraordinary minutes of characteristically sensual, elegant music from his film scores of the late '60s/early '70s. For many, Umiliani is the definitive loungecore artist with particular appeal in Japan, where a great many exclusive editions have been released."

giallo

Morricone Giallo
is the latest edition in Cherry Red's Morricone retrospective."

I CANTORI MODERNI DI ALESSANDRONI
Title:
The Modern Singers
Label:
BELLA CASA (UK)
Format:
CD
Price:
$17.00
Catalog #:
CASA 006CD
2007 release. "Though Ennio Morricone revolutionized the art of movie soundtracks during the golden age of Italian cinema, for most people his trademark sound is the combination of haunting whistling, wordless choirs and plangent, Duane Eddy-style guitar that formed part of the aural landscape of Sergio Leone's so-called Spaghetti Westerns. And it is impossible to imagine these works existing in all their atmospheric, multi-textured splendor without the extraordinary talents of Alessandro Alessandroni and his remarkable choir, I Cantori Moderni. During the '60s, Cantori established a reputation for almost infinite versatility, regardless of the demands made by some of Italy's most prestigious film composers and this set showcases their fantastic ability."

BELLA CASA (UK)

$17.00
Catalog #:
CASA 007CD
"This album demonstrates the incredible aptitude of Ennio Morricone's golden generation of Italian composers for psychedelia. That most hallucinogenic of all films, Fellini's
Toby Dammit
is featured with a selection from Nino Rota's famous score along with a panorama of superlative performances and rare recordings from such masters as Morricone, Piero Piccioni and Umiliani, Berto Pisano and Claudio Gizzi (former music director for the films of Andy Warhol) whose main title for Roman Polanski's notorious

is included here in digital format for the first time."
Artist:
DELL'ORSO, EDDA
Title:
Voice
Label:
BELLA CASA (UK)
Format:
CD
Price:
$17.00
Catalog #:
CASA 008CD
"Edda Dell'Orso is the sound of Italian cinema. Her astonishing voice is recognizable to anyone who has experienced the landmark spaghetti western films made by Sergio Leone; films that were in the mid-'60s scored by a young whippersnapper called Ennio Morricone. The recent revival of interest in mid-century post-modern art and the restoration of so many wonderful Morricone scores has led many to discover Edda Dell'Orso. Her work is the epitome of intelligence and sophistication. It is utopian in its scope and its potential is vast."

GRUPPO DI IMPROVVISAZIONE NUOVA CONSONANZA
Title:
Nuova Consonanza
Label:
BELLA CASA (UK)
Format:
CD
Price:
$17.00
Catalog #:
CASA 009CD
Reissue of this 1975 self-titled album, originally released on the Cinevox label. Tracks are: "Settimino," "Eflot," "Soup" and "Scratch." Two of these are also commonly available on CD on the Edition RZ compilation, unfortunately; the other two ("Settimino" & "Scratch") are not on CD, so you have approx 30 minutes of exclusive/rare material here on this release. Gruppo are the classic Italian freeform outfit from the '60s & '70s, still pretty undocumented on CD. All pieces created by: Giovanni Piazza, Ennio Morricone, Mario Bertoncini, Gualtiero Branchi, Francesco Evangelisti, Egisto Macchi, Jesus Villa Rojo. "The least-known and rarest musical exploration of Ennio Morricone's career. He played trumpet in the extraordinary Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza from 1965 when it was founded by composer Franco Evangelisti. These lengthy improvised sound collages are challenging to listen to but have their own beauty and are of serious historical importance. Gruppo recorded albums for RCA Italia and Cinevox up to 1975 including under Morricone's auspices, soundtracks for the trippy
Gli Occhi Freddi Della Paura
and
Un Tranquillo posto di Campagna
where their improvised 35-minute suite mirrored the formal score."
Artist:
SIMONETTI WITH GOBLIN, ENRICO
Title:
Gamma
Label:
BELLA CASA (UK)
Format:
CD
Price:
$17.00
Catalog #:
CASA 010CD
"Re-issue of Enrico Simonetti & Goblin's impossibly rare score for the cult Italian early '70s TV drama,
Gamma
. The title track was to Italy what
Eye Level
was to England, reaching number 1 in the national singles chart and ironically at the same time knocking Goblin's
Profundo Rosso
from the top of the perch (thus the first example of a teen pop star -- Claudio Simonetti, being knocked off number one by his own father!) Enrico Simonetti was born in Brazil and the Latin influence is apparent in this impressive score, blending remarkably well with Goblin's inevitably far darker 'drug's theme.' One of the last Goblin collectables; its restoration for the first time in over three decades should ensure healthy sales among completists and indeed the many students of the Italian film genre. A gem for soundtrack outlets everywhere with strong export potential to Italy, America and Japan (where Goblin were huge)."
