Artist: CARTER, CHRISTINA
Title: Texas Blues Working
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: 2LP
Price: $31.00
Catalog #: BRR 056LP
"Quite simply one of my all time favorite releases on Blackest Rainbow from one of this generation's most amazing artists gets the upgrade from cassette to double vinyl LP, featuring the original six tracks from the original release, along with an additional brand new amazing track. The original edition on tape received some fantastic reviews, so it's great to finally have this out on vinyl, as it really is a superb recording, which came out around one of Christina's most amazingly active recording periods, self releasing fantastic discs like Masque Femine, Two Nights Film and A Blossom Fell as well as Kranky releasing Original Darkness in 2008. Texas Blues Working features six tracks of stunningly haunting guitar and vocals, creating an immensely deep and emotional listening experience. The previously unreleased track, the sublime 21 minute 'Ladyfriend', is another example of Christina's incredible voice and guitar playing. Her voice is just unreal, so deeply emotional and mournful it gives you goose bumps. Pressed on heavyweight virgin vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve featuring a series of black and white photographs by Joe Blanchard."

Artist: ATTAR CUPS
Title: Untitled
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BRR 070LP
"We hit up our fourth vinyl release with this beauty, which was originally intended to be a cassette-only release (it will still be available on cassette, but only in a tiny run). This Maine-based crew features a host of psychedelic jam talent. Nemo of Drona Parva and head honcho of Time-Lag Records, Sparrow Wildchild of The Bummer Road, and the three members of Visitations, whose record on Time-Lag was one of 2007's best! So this is the second recording from this crew, the first being Sloow Tape. This beast is different to the vibe on that release, still with a super nice jam band sound, but projecting to a more 'song'- (in the loosest possible way) based plane, a little like Visitations. Edition of 299 hand-numbered copies with zero info and 11" x 11" stickers on the front and back of black sleeves." Last copies...

Artist: DEAS, CAM
Title: My Guitar Is Alive And It's Singing
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BRR 078LP
"I am very pleased to be releasing the debut LP from Sheffield-London-Brighton guitar master, Cam Deas. This follows his two long sold out CDRs on Blackest Rainbow, and proves once again that he is off the chain! OK, so there's always gonna be the immediate comparison to James Blackshaw, but the sound is different, more aggressive almost and raw... this guitar playing has an edge -- it's deep and it's powerful. The LP consists of three tracks, the A side is an epic, almost 20-minute piece entitled 'The Waters Of Kvaloya' recorded by Ben Nash. The B side's and album's title track begins with almost a minute of near silent distant drone that develops with stomach-wrenching string twangs. The closing piece is 'As Spring Fell From The Leaves,' which was originally issued on the For The Silver Waters, Sing! CDR last year on BR, but has been considered by people who've bought his releases and seen Cam live as possibly one of the best things he has composed. Total genius, with a real blissful, but eventually dark, vibe. This track definitely deserved to be put on wax. Mastered by Ben Nash. Limited to 300 copies."

Artist: TAIGA REMAINS/RV PAINTINGS
Title: Split LP
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BRR 099LP
"Two of America's finest drone acts come together for this split LP. Taiga Remains is Student of Decay's master mind Alex Cobb's project. If you ain't picked up his new disc on Digitalis Wax Canopy yet, go get it, it is one of the best drone releases I have heard in a long time! The 15-minute track on this new split LP is entitled 'Mengku From Mengsa.' Opening with far off chimes upon chimes, this leads to pure bliss dream zones, rather than the more intense material on the aforementioned Wax Canopy. This is a fantastic piece of drone work, layered to create some beautiful zoning out in the mind. RV Paintings is the project of Brian Pyle of the almighty psychedelia legends Starving Weirdos, along with his brother Jon Pyle, and Spencer Doran, who also plays under the name of Cloaks. This is an amazing track, kinda darker and bleaker than the Weirdos vibe, with some totally awesome free percussion playing central to the piece. This is hard to top in the drone game. A totally solid slab of sound from both acts. Limited to 400 copies." Paste-on cover with insert.

Artist: DEAS, CAM/SPOONO
Title: Split LP
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BRR 100LP
"Limited edition tour LP for their upcoming joint tour across Europe. One side for each of these amazing UK guitarists. Cam has two tracks, one beautiful long guitar piece followed by an insane electronics track, that sounds almost like Autechre's more weird static work. Spoono is Jack Allett who is also half of Towering Breaker. His side consists of three incredible tracks that will no doubt prick up the ears of fans of Jack Rose. Limited to 350."

Artist: MECHANICAL CHILDREN
Title: I Rise To Cover All
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BRR 111LP
"Debut vinyl release from this new duo that makes up two thirds of Jazzfinger (Ben Jones and Sarah Sullivan). Based around the idea of used broken keyboards, Ben and Sarah make some totally fucked and pretty heavy noise jams. There's some searing moments in this beast, particularly across the two part 'Burning of the Light Fields' which spans all side A, and most of side B. The closer is 'Planatary Wasp,' which pretty much would be what Jeff Goldblum would have sounded like if he'd turned into some kind of rancid badass wasp instead of that pussy fly! Turn it up and get ready for your neighbors to come knocking with an ASBO for ya. Limited to 300." Paste-on cover with insert.

Artist: BJERGA & ROBERT HORTON, SINDRE
Title: Can't Go Fast Enough To Get There Early
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BRR 115CD
"Wild and eclectic mail collaborations from one of America's most recently on fire jammers Robert Horton, and Norway's drone master Sindre Bjerga. Both have incredibly solid resumes of collaborations and releases, what with Sindre's ongoing collaboration with Jan Iversen, and Robert's collaborations with Tom Carter and the Mudsuckers crew of Pete and Gabe (of Yellow Swans), which also includes Carter. Can't Go Faster Enough to Get There Early features a massive range of instruments and sounds, from multiple instrument based layered drone to down right weirdness, and total outsider vibes. Also features Hal Hughes, Lisa Graves and Jan Iversen. Glass mastered CDs, limited to 264 in white digipaks with stickered covers and a small 4 page insert of liner notes. Please note some tracks feature digital clicks and pops, this is meant to be there."

Artist: STARVING WEIRDOS
Title: B/P/M Series 1
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 118LP
"Absolutely mind melting release from this consistently amazing American duo. This release has a very different sound to the superb drone recordings of their recent releases, yet it is still totally immense but really quite unexpected. This was previously issued as a tour-only CDR in a press of somewhere between 20 and 30 copies. Brian Pyle and Merrick McKinlay spent sometime recording legendary Humboldt based pianist Darius Brottman, who also happens to have a radio show before Brian's own show on KHSU college radio. The recordings of Brottman were then reworked by McKinlay and Pyle separately. Pyle and McKinlay have a side each on this LP, both sides featuring very different ways of reworking the original beautiful recordings. Side A opens with some straight piano clinks layered with incidental sounds that occurred during recording sessions, creating an amazing feeling of beautiful surrealness, leading into multi-layered piano movements over and over. Side B begins with powerful, erratic, forceful playing, coated in psychedelic loops and reversed sounds, then returning to a more straight piano playing. The second track on this side almost bleeds into familiar Weirdo territory. This is one bizarre, but equally genius and beautiful release. Both myself and the Weirdos are honored to have the artwork for this LP designed by artist Mick Wiggins. Pro printed sleeves, pressed on 180 gram vinyl and limited to 500 copies."

Artist: FOREST CREATURE
Title: Frustrated Analogue
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: BRR 123CD
"Very pleased to announce the first 'proper' release from this local duo of Ben Moon and Richard Sides, and a very new sound for Blackest Rainbow. Forest Creature has been through many different sounds, starting as a fairly harsh noise experience opening for bands like Wolf Eyes and Jazkamer back when we did shows, they later on incorporated live drums and screwed up vocals, and a purely animal live experience. The duo's sound has progressed more and more over the last year, with more and more different sounds collating to make Forest Creature reach a point where they have their very own sound. Their previous sound would've fitted nicely into the Load Records roster, and then building to sound more like some kind of blend of Black Dice, early Animal Collective and Fuck Buttons. But now over the last few months I've experienced some of their best live performances yet (performed in near total darkness with flickering TV screen and bulbs) they pummel their audience with thumping beats, raging psychedelic synth, broken glitches and clicks, they seemed to have found a definite place that seems to be right for them. Strangely enough some of this material even reminds me of the supreme days of Sheffield's techno and IDM music boom back in the late '80s and early '90s with legends like Autechre, Black Dog, and the hay day of Warp Records best releases. If you're into Black Dice, Warp Records, Animal Collective and aren't afraid of a little beat here and there then I suggest you check out Forest Creature! Glass mastered pro pressed CD (not CDR) in full colour pro printed CD sleeve."

Artist: COOPER & BEN NASH, SOPHIE
Title: Alchemy
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: BRR 130CD
"Recorded over a weekend back in the early months of 2009, here are 2 tracks of multi instrumental composition from Ben Nash and Sophie Cooper (CooperJones). The music here is truly beautiful, personally I think this is some of the best work to come from both Ben and Sophie so far. Total late night guitar meanderings blurred with a haze of deep churning scrapes from various instruments and layered drone bliss, creating 2 totally immersive and beautiful psychedelic drone. Some of the guitar playing here has a beautiful Loren Connors meets Ry Cooder Paris Texas era sound, and then when both Ben and Sophie reach for the gee-tars you have the beautiful mix of Ben's reflective electric blues and Sophie's purely relaxed acoustic musings, totally fantastic. This really has it down for me as something truly different, lets hope that they continue to record as this duo. I certainly cannot wait for more. Glass mastered pro pressed CD (not cdr) in pro printed full colour card sleeve, one time pressing of 1000. Co-released with Ben's own Recollections of Knulp label."

Artist: MOUNTAINHOOD
Title: Death Pod
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 135LP
"Brand new one-sided LP from Michael Curtis Hilde following his recent LPs on Time Lag's Red Records sub division, as well as a string of ultra limited self-released CDRs and releases for Yod and Reverb Worship. This is a far gone trip that's totally out there and very hard to pin down. The closest categorization for this beast would be folk, but it's like some total mutated, distorted lurker mirror image. Wild psychedelic strings and heavy bedroom vibes run throughout this delicate beauty. Limited to 300 in pro-printed black and white wraparound sleeve featuring amazing artwork by Michael."

Artist: STARVING WEIRDOS W/ TOM CARTER & SHAWN DAVID MCMILLEN
Title: Live At The Accident!
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: BRR 145LP
"Crazy 3-way collaboration from some of America's best underground musicians. Charalambides' Tom Carter is joined by Shawn McMillen, sometime member of Warmer Milks and Ash Castles On The Ghost Coast, with the added power of Starving Weirdos. This two track collaboration has been around since 2007 and it landed in my mailbox a few months back, and man, it's a real beauty. Side A is a total hypnotic slice of ravaged drone, the four musicians seamlessly blend their own styles of underground bliss outs to sheer perfection. Side B opens with a crazy loop of applause, waving back and forth with a growing repetitive plug-in to then opening it up to create new levels of total sonic weirdness. Slow shimmering black chasms engulf the positivity until it's awash with lo-fi scrapes and buzzing electrical nightmare. The loop eventually drops back in with total far gone chimes, jingling away at acid burnt psychedelic keys and a thundering bass loop. A totally bizarre jam, which just opens more potential ventures up for these artists. Hopefully we'll see more from this collaborative team soon. Limited to 400 in pro-printed wraparound sleeves."

Artist: TWINSISTERMOON
Title: The Hollow Mountain
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: BRR 150CD
"Twinsistermoon is the solo project of Mehdi Ameziane of Natural Snow Buildings. The Hollow Mountain was originally issued by Dull Knife Records in 2009 as an LP limited to only 105 copies -- unsurprisingly it sold out in a matter of hours. Widely regarded by many Natural Snow Buildings fans as one of the best releases from their camp, this reissue has been remastered by Ben Nash, includes new artwork, and brand new unreleased material. The album has a beautiful earthy lo-fi feeling throughout which perfectly compliments its short and sweet folk songs, and occasional wanderings into psychedelic drone ambience. This is an album that really is totally beautiful and probably one of my favorites from Mehdi. The CD is packaged in a square artwork booklet and a pro-printed card wallet showcasing the superb original artwork from the LP sleeve. Limited to 1000 copies."

Artist: OUR LOVE WILL DESTROY THE WORLD
Title: Fucking Dracula Clouds
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 153LP
"Stunning new LP from Campbell Kneale's post Birchville Cat Motel project. Continues with the vibes set on his superb LP for Dekorder, total psychedelic filth noise. Two side long heavy pieces of gushing electric destruction, one sound lurches in and tears down another one, which it rebuilds an even more ferocious version of the original sound. Pressed on 180gram vinyl. Limited to 400 copies in pro printed wrap around sleeve on 400gsm silk card."

Artist: EYEBALLS
Title: The Invisible Castle
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: BRR 154CD
"Richard Dawson's project that debuted on Blackest Rainbow earlier this year, which was followed by CDRs on Bells Hill, Low Point and Dead Pilot, and another release on Blackest Rainbow, a split cassette with fellow UK droner Gareth Hardwick. The Invisible Castle is far more intense, and in some ways heavier than the previous releases on BR, but retains Dawson's own dark take on the world of psychedelic drone music, and this is a proper drone release, clocking in an hour for the full piece. Limited to 1000 copies in pro-printed wallets."

Artist: BONG
Title: Gilgamesh Lives
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: BRR 155CD
"Amazing new live jams from Newcastle's Bong. Two long tracks of stoned slow motion drums, guitar, bass and sitar. This is a great follow up to their previous split LP we put out earlier in the year, edition of 1000 copies in bleak pro-printed card sleeve with cover artwork by Chris from Gnod and back artwork by the band."

Artist: CAIRO GANG, THE
Title: Twyxt Wyrd
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BRR 158LP
"This was actually the first ever LP I asked someone to do for Blackest Rainbow, way back in early 2007... The Cairo Gang previously had a CD released several years ago on Narnack Records, and the main man behind The Cairo Gang, Emmett Kelly, came over and toured with John Dwyer's OCS (now currently known as Thee Oh Sees), which was actually the first ever show I put on... After meeting Emmett back then he made several reappearances in the UK playing guitar for Beth Orton and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. This new record was recorded back in 2007, and in some ways is a slight departure for the roster on Blackest Rainbow. The record features 8 proper songs of loose, relaxed Chicago-style songs; if you're into the trademark sounds of labels like Thrill Jockey you'll definitely dig this. The line-up for the release is also pretty damn sweet, featuring Rob Lowe (Lichens, 90 Day Men), Ben Vida and Joshua Abrams (both of Town & Country, Vida also performs solo as Bird Show). Limited to only 300 copies, with paste-on covers and insert."

Artist: GUANACO
Title: Sky Burials
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BRR 160LP
"Debut LP from England's Lex Panayi who also plays in Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan; this, however, is his solo project, which focuses on psychedelic acid-drenched folk and dark grey area drones for a monolith landscape. The whole record blends beautifully together to create an excellent album from a relatively unknown artist. This is one fine example of current underground UK music which I'm really pleased to be releasing. This is a must for fans of early Six Organs of Admittance, Cam Deas, Voice of the Seven Woods and such... Paste-on cover and insert, edition of only 300."

Artist: MV & EE
Title: Live Road
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 165LP
"Collection of very recent live excursions with MV & EE, all high quality recordings from shows in November 2009. The A side opens with a MV/EE duo performance of 'Mine All Troubled Blues' from Art Damage Lodge, Cincinnati, OH on 20/11/09. This heads straight into two interpretations of 'Environments', one from Project Lodge, Madison, WI which again is just raw MV/EE action, but the second features an enhanced line up with Muskox and Doc Dunn. The two versions are blurred together into one long blazing 11 minute space jam. The flip side opens with the classic blues soaked 'Tea Devil' with Erika's laid back vocals backed with MV's rippling guitar shreds, Rongoose's (Ron Schneidermann of Sunburned/Spirit of Orr/Pewt'r) heavy bass bliss outs, and Chris Corsano showcasing a slow moving stoned out drum kit. Straight from here we head into a completely trance-inducing psychedelic haze of wild jamming with a totally different version of 'Environments'. The whole of the Bside was recorded with Chris and Ron at Bank Row, Greenfield, MA. Edition of 400 pressed on heavyweight vinyl with hand stamped labels in black and white pro printed wrap around jackets with cover art by Jeremy Earl of Woods/Woodsist Records." Last copies, now deleted.

Artist: SYLVESTER ANFANG II
Title: Commune Cassetten
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 166LP
Second pressing on heavyweight pink vinyl. "A new slab of wax of tranced out psychotic psychedelic-ness from the occult loving Belgium-based clan. This new incarnation being Sylvester Anfang II (as opposed to Silvester Anfang) reached a new level of sheer awesomeness in 2009 with the incredible double LP on Aurora Borealis; on Commume Cassetten they continue their bizarre trip into the darker -- but somehow super psychedelic -- realm of the occult obsessed mind. There's a real fucked up Krautrock boogie vibe throughout, but retaining some of the doomed funeral folk qualities of the original Anfang guise, as well as some loose as hell, total stoned-out ritualistic baked grooves. The LP comes housed in a techni-colour collaged artwork with a black and white image of a lady, which we can presume is a witch, with a dagger and chalice... a sleeve that really sums up the music enclosed. The sleeves are pro-printed and wrap around the deep pink heavyweight wax which has some sweet full colour labels. This is one hell of a 40 minute trip." Last copies, now deleted.

Artist: TWINSISTERMOON
Title: Then Fell The Ashes...
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 170LP
"Brand new full length vinyl LP from Natural Snow Buildings' Mehdi Ameziane solo project. This is the third Twinsistermoon release since 2009's The Hollow Mountain LP and Bride of Spirits 7" which were both released on the excellent Dull Knife label. Following on from these two gems, various obscure self released items and CDs on Digitalis and Students of Decay, Ameziane's sound has grown somewhat darker at times with this LP featuring nearly 50 minutes of brand new material. The A-side features 6 tracks, where as the B side is complemented with a huge, almost 25 minute track. The opening track 'Black Nebulae' is a gorgeously textured psychedelic drone-based piece, followed by a short, quieter, guitar plucked piece with vocals, but no words, entitled '1976'. 'Ghost That Was Your Life' is a stunning beautiful layered guitar piece with Ameziane's astounding beautiful vocals shining through. 'Big Sand' opens as one of the darker pieces, with an occult feeling to its sound, swirling vocal drones, almost like a choir at times, and in come those stunning warm and distinctive gutar sounds with layered ghostly sound scapes, that haunt much of Ameziane's solo and NSB recordings. Half way through this track it fades into layered field recordings, drones, and distant chimes, the sound of this track at this point just has a real melancholy vintage sound, the last two minutes are again a change of sound with a slow plucking of guitar strings. 'Desert Prophecy' returns of the sound of just Ameziane and his guitar, with some lo-fi electric riffing distortion in the background. It's pretty incredible to hear this and think that it's from 2010, and not from the 60s or 70s. The sixth and final track on the first side is 'Trailer', another beautiful somewhat lighter folk sound, which is interesting considering the following is the album's title track, 'Then The Ashes Fell', a side long track which is a considerably darker and heavier track than much of the rest of the LP, but it weaves in some beautiful lighter more reflective moments. Pro printed covers and labels. Heavyweight vinyl."

Artist: DEAS, CAM
Title: Blind Chance
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 175LP
"Fantastic new LP from Cam Deas, which was issued in a tiny run CDR for his recent Euro tour with Jack Allett earlier this year. This is a slightly different release from the previous LP and split LP with Spoono, essentially this one being a long improvised acoustic freak-out. Loose frequent and infrequent twangs to pure whirlwinds of aggressive string assaults and finger shredding plucking. This still retains Cam's signature traditional playing somehow, especially the more intense heavier moments. A solid recording. Limited to 500 copies on heavyweight vinyl in pro-printed fold over covers with photography by Cam and printed labels. Pressed at the superb Record Industry in the Netherlands."

Artist: ISENGRIND
Title: Modlitewnik
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $23.00
Catalog #: BRR 179LP
"Debut vinyl release from Natural Snow Buildings' Solange Gularte's solo project, Isengrind. Modlitewnik continues Solange's fantastically far-out occult psych-folk-drone trip outs, 12 tracks across the length of this LP, considerably shorter pieces in comparison to her work with Mehdi in Natural Snow Buildings, Isengrind retains a certain amount of the sound of the duo, but it is a whole other beast, in many ways much stranger and darker, but still hauntingly beautiful with some fantastic blissed-out vocal drones, dreamy guitars, and psyche soaked dark drone zones. Heavyweight vinyl, housed in a pro-printed full colour fold over sleeve with all 4 panels featuring stunning artwork by Solange, the inside of the cover is especially spectacular. One time pressing of 640 copies."

Artist: ARITOMO
Title: Fearful Sunshine Filtering Through Foliages
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 180LP
"Reissue of this hard to find debut from Japanese musician and artist Aritomo. This was recorded between 2003 and 2004. This was previously self-released on his own Hakanairo label back in 2005 in an edition of only 200 copies. Superb psychedelic folk with drifting acoustic and electric guitars layered with percussion, bamboo flute, bass, field recordings and Aritomo's beautifully fragile vocals. Another chance to get a hold of this hard to find gem on wax, probably not for too long! Limited to 300 copies on heavyweight vinyl in pro-printed fold over covers with colour labels. Pressed at Record Industry in the Netherlands."

Artist: HUNTER GRACCHUS/KOMMISSAR HJULER UND FRAU, THE
Title: Split
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 184LP
"Meeting of melted minds on this split LP featuring Sheffield based long time local buddies Hunter Gracchus and Germany based performance and musical duo of Kommissar Hjuler Und Frau (aka Mama Baer). The Hunter Gracchus have released an ever growing catalogue of super well received releases for the likes of Chironex, Golden Lab, Recollections of Knulp and Chocolate Monk. They also collaborated with Part Wild Horses Mane On Both Sides and Chora as Le Drapeau Noir, as well as performing solo and in other fantastic far out acts such as Vampire Blues, Harappian Night Recordings and Blue Yodel, as well as two thirds of the trio running the excellent Singing Knives label and all working full time. I have to admit, I have no idea how they can manage to do all this, pretty damn impressive. Their side is an amazing live recording from La Planta, Argentina entitled 'Mujeres De La Boca', and if you've ever been to their Furniture Makers practice space, it sounds like Hunter Gracchus somehow managed to transport its entire contents of obscure musical objects over there with their peculiar brains to record some of the best live shit they've produced so far... a really great side long free playing improvised weird out with screwed up voices, skronky blurts and freestyle tribal percussion. Kommissar Hjuler Und Frau have been releasing material for quite some time on their own Der Schöne Hjuler-Memorial-Fond label, including a host of obscenely limited CDRs, cassettes and records. On top of that they've found the time to release some truly astounding genre blending avant craziness on Ultra Eczema, Scumbag and Blossoming Noise. For this split LP, KHJ & F's 'Zwei Einenperson (Pt. 2)', is a manic 22 minute side of avant garde experi-mentalism, with Kommissar Hjuler shredding electric guitar strings and destroying tapes while Mama Baer's insane vocal fluctuates between the erotic and pure demonic screaming. This recording of Kommissar Hjuler und Frau was made in March 2009 when working on the set for the performance of Zwei Eineperson. This was presented live at the vernissage of Mama Baer's and Kommissar Hjuler's exhibition Geteilter Raum at Kunstraum Winterthur, Switzerland on 2nd April 2009. A CD-R with several parts from their work on this set was previously released on their SHMF label in a very small edition. This is the re-issue of part 2 from their recordings, live in their living room. Edition of 500 on heavyweight vinyl with pro printed jackets, and insert."

Artist: BEGGIN' YOUR PARDON MISS JOAN
Title: Edges
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $13.00
Catalog #: BRR 186CD
"Edges will be the first widely available release by Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan. It is a collection of several old songs from previous highly-limited releases on Centre of the Wood, Dead Pilot and Reverb Worship, plus five new tracks. The project is from the minds of Lex and Vanessa Panayi. Some of you may recognize Lex, as he also plays under the name of Guanaco ±, whose LP Sky Burials was released earlier this year on BR. On this 9-track CD, there are moments comparable to some of the material on the aforementioned LP, but at times its approach is more singer-songwriter based with more vocals, as well as merging autumnal psychedelic string picking excursions and traditional folk guitar meanderings. A really gorgeous collection of songs. Edition of 500, full color pro-printed card wallets."

Artist: MOON UNIT
Title: Hell Horse And Heady Stratus
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 188LP
"Where to start? Upon hearing this new LP from Moon Unit it is immediately apparent that this Glaswegian trio stand apart from a lot of the psyche out new boys on the block. Perhaps because they feature Nackt Insecten himself, Ruaraidh Sanachan, Andreas Jonsson of Lanterns, and Peter Kelly. When I first heard this completed LP after a few different incarnations, I was really blown away... the previous versions that had dropped through my mailbox were really something, but this, the final version, is unreal in its sheer goodness. The five jams on this LP make up one of the best psyche out, freak out full lengths I've heard this year. It's an incredible record filled with furiously wild drum explosions, keyboard zone outs, sci-fi guitar shredding, and wailing feedback. It really seems to perfectly blend some of the best sounds that have occurred in the UK over the last few years, cannot recommend highly enough. Play as loud as you can! If you were into Nacket Insecten's Quantum Odyssey LP on Blackest Rainbow, you will love this for sure, and if you're just into wild free music such as Vibracathedral Orchestra, grab a copy of this beast! Edition of 500, with cover design by Jake Blanchard (the man behind Menagerie). Pressed on heavyweight virgin vinyl."

Title: Split LP
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 191LP
"Debut vinyl release for both of these great artists who collectively have had releases on a host of excellent underground labels such as Stunned Records, Housecraft, Sturmundrugs Records and Digitalis. Black Eagle Child is the musical project of Michael Jantz, and this release is his second outing for Blackest Rainbow. Here he presents us with 4 tracks of skillful guitar finger picking layered with glockenspiel, accordion and some perfectly timed field recordings giving the music a real autumnal glow. Donato Eprio's side is made up of three tracks of superbly crafted guitar work recorded between winter 2008 and winter 2010 at various destinations in Italy. I think the second track is particularly impressive; 'Il Primo Cerchio' is an intense piece with a variety of guitar sounds and techniques used... loose string twangs, repetitive layered plucking and deep raga meditations, at times layered with whirring drones. Pressed on virgin vinyl and housed in a pro-printed high gloss sleeve featuring cover photography by Joe Blanchard, pressed in an edition of 250 copies."

Artist: JAYCOCK, DAVID A.
Title: Presets
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BRR 193LP
"Debut vinyl LP from Manchester's David A. Jaycock (who is also a member of Big Eye Family Players), David had a 7" on the excellent Great Pop Supplement and Presets follows on from that fine release. Presets features 12 tracks of melancholic folk almost entirely performed by David on a variety of instruments, and it's a real step forward to darker areas than his previous releases on Great Pop Supplement, Early Winter Recordings and The Red Deer Club. The record retains some of the more haunting vocal and guitar moments from aforementioned excursions, and at times is comparable to Ben Chasny's Six Organs of Admittance, but it has a much stranger and hard to place approach and sound, with some fantastic dark creepy tracks, blurring creaking, clunking objects with something that sounds like guitar, transformed into something far more sinister... but somehow at the same time retains a feeling that everything isn't quite as bleak as it seems. Edition of 250 with pro printed sleeves. Pressed on virgin vinyl."

Artist: PADANG FOOD TIGERS
Title: Born Music
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 196LP
"Originally released on Blackest Rainbow in Autumn 2010 in an edition of only 100 copies, the vinyl edition of Padang Food Tiger's debut full length LP sold out instantly. This second edition is pressed on 140g virgin vinyl with pro-printed cover art in an edition of only 250 copies... Memories playing tricks: oh, the gauzy hallucinogens of nostalgia are sloughing off fresh fictions throughout this deeply passionate instrumental collection. Padang Food Tigers attempt to resurrect half-remembered dreams on their debut long player, Born Music, by hybridizing improvisational tactics with the trappings of traditional tropes. Influenced by artists such as Scott Tuma, Taku Sugimoto, Loren Connors, Bruce Langhorne Boxhead Ensemble and Tetuzi Akiyama, the group's two members (Stephen Lewis and Spencer Grady) seek to capture the potency of moment, free from all artifice and studied consciousness, enveloped in the player's close fraternal bond. The duration and form of tracks -- brimming with banjo, guitar, piano, music boxes and fragments of history -- are dictated by emotional weight, by intuition, not expectation. Born Music (a gesture to the dried river that flows at the back of Lewis' home in South London and to the instinctive nature of the sounds contained within) is the duo's follow-up to their Go Down, Moses EP, which was released on Under The Spire."

Artist: NASH/MAGIC LANTERN, BEN
Title: Split
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 199LP
"This one's been brewing at BR HQ for quite sometime, due to come out long ago, this beaut of a split is finally seeing light of day. A mutual respect from these two camps brought about what is surely one of this year's most exciting releases in the field of the split vinyl LP. Ben Nash returns after over a year's absence from releasing any solo work, now busy as a full time member of the excellent Chora, we may all be in for a long wait for anymore solo action after this release... but here we find Ben entering new territory with less of the guitar plucking from previous solo outings... Across these three new tracks, Ben is heading in a more zoned out psychedelic drone pieces, fluctuating between blissful electric churning, and incredibly dark swarming monoliths, with buried electric guitar bursts, it's quite a new sound for Ben. Unsurprisingly, he comes out on top form, and it's maybe some of the most interesting recordings he's released so far, but it's a far cry from his debut LP for Blackest Rainbow, The Seventh Goodbye back in 2008. Fellow Sheffield heads Cam Deas and Jon Marshall (Hunter Gracchus) accompany Ben on two of his three tracks, along with Rob Lye of Chora. Following on from 2 massively excellent LPs for our buddies over at Not Not Fun, Magic Lantern return, with what also might be the last recordings we hear from them for a while too... their two track side opens with a murky wild sounding basement jam 'Mosquito Coast' recorded in 2008, followed by the 15 minute groove of 'Long Way Down', full of heavy organ, slow burning percussion, wild wahs, raw riffing and the occasional chanted vocal this is one heavy piece of stoned blues psyche rock out. 'Long Way Down' was recorded by Bobb Bruno of Goliath Bird Eater / Best Coast back in 2009. Pro-printed sleeves, designed by Cameron Stallones."

Artist: WOODEN WAND
Title: Wither Thou Goest, Cretin
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 200LP
"Vinyl reissue of this fine record from James Toth, aka Wand, aka Wooden Wand that was issued earlier this year as a super limited CDR mounted on a block of wood. Wither Thou Goest, Cretin has a kind of lo-fi sound of some of Wand's earlier work combined with the more confident sound of some of his recent releases, it kinda fits somewhere between The Harem Of The Sundrum and the Witness Figg and Born Bad in the extensive Wand catalogue. At times this record has a really underground surreal sound to it, not just in terms of songwriting, but at times with the music itself, and combined with Toth's ever changing deliverance of vocals throughout the songs, it produces Toth's unique style. There's not many singer songwriters doing what Toth is doing right now, and here he's at the top of his game. It really can't get much better than how it's sounding here. Pro-printed sleeves."

Artist: GNOD/A MIDDLE SEX
Title: Split
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 202LP
"Brand new split LP from fellow Manchester weirdos A Middle Sex and Gnod. Gnod follow on from some killer releases over the last couple of years, a split 7" with Bong, a tape on Not Not Fun, and a collaborative LP with White Hills. The oddly titled 15 minute 'Why Don't You Smile Like The Other Children?' opens with hazy strings and cosmically far out voices, this slow groove packs a multi-coloured burst of rhythmic psychedelic vibes. On the flip side, A Middle Sex takes up duties of doing something equally psychedelic, but in a completely different style. Their side is titled 'Polytheism', and is essentially made up of two tracks, the opener is a short, wild spaced-out cosmic synth piece, which is swiftly followed by their main 10 minute piece of layered drums and percussion, swirling electronics, distorted chanted vocals. Their side is all about the rhythm, and they really got that rhythm down. Edition of 500. Pressed on 140 gram virgin vinyl and house in super glossy pro-printed covers."

Artist: CELER
Title: Vestiges Of An Inherent Melancholy
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: BRR 204LP
"Second vinyl LP from this formerly active American duo of Will Long and Danielle Baquet-Long, which also happens to be the second LP from Celer on Blackest Rainbow. Vestiges Of An Inherent Melancholy follows on from the recent pairing of releases on Basses Frequencies and features 2 sides of unearthed recordings that were created between December 2006 and July 2008. These two sides find the duo creating some truly beautiful drone works with their use of an organic and electronic palette of instrumentation; cello, violin, pipe organ, electronics, tape, field recordings, samples, and mixing board. This really is a standout side from Celer, pulling together their variety of sounds to make a heart breaking collage of sounds falling between beautiful dream tones and heavier dark moments. Vestiges Of An Inherent Melancholy again pushes Celer further to the front of modern minimal composition, proving that they were one of the most interesting, consistently outstanding, and intriguing acts around in recent years, creating some of the finest and most beautiful, fragile drone records around. The full experience of a Celer release is complete with accompanying titled fragmented sections for the side long pieces, and striking cover photography by Danielle. Limited to 500 copies in thick old style tip-on hardback jackets with LPs pressed on 140 gram virgin vinyl."

Artist: NACKT INSECTEN
Title: Reality Bridge
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BRR 211LP
"Second full length LP from Scotland/New York weirdo Ruaraidh Sanachan, who also is the guitar shredder in Moon Unit and runs one of the best tape labels in the UK, Sick Head. Reality Bridge's four tracks of psyche-out futuristic electric haze are a step up from Sanachan's previous full length LP, Quantum Odyssey we released almost two years ago. Reality Bridge is one hell of a record, pulling together kosmische synth, guitar wailing, sci-fi insanity and b-movie bliss outs. The record is housed in a pro-printed sleeve featuring new insane artwork by Ruaraidh featuring a super degraded repeated self portrait with synth in space. The artwork is definitely up there with the now classic 'Quantum Odyssey' cover. Pressed on virgin vinyl."

Artist: NATURAL SNOW BUILDINGS
Title: Waves of the Random Sea
Label: BLACKEST RAINBOW RECORDS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $13.00
Catalog #: BRR 216CD
"Stunning new album from Natural Snow Buildings, the collaborative project between Mehdi Ameziane and Solange Gularte, the minds behind Twinsistermoon and Isengrind respectively. This new epic from the French duo is their first physical release since 2009's well received Shadow Kingdom, also issued by us here at Blackest Rainbow, and it follows on from 2010's download only The Centauri Agent and both Twinsistermoon and Isengrind full length LPs. So 2010 has been a relatively quiet year for Natural Snow Buildings in comparison to 2008 and 2009. Mehdi and Solange have been working on Waves of the Random Sea for us for quite some time, both in terms of art and audio, and it really has come together beautifully. Solange has created a truly stunning series of artworks that spread across the 4 panels of the sleeve, and the music is a gorgeous tapestry of dreamy drone blurred with their enchanting ethereal folk balladry. This release continues to show how important every aspect of a Natural Snow Buildings release means to them, I was blown away by the standard of the music and artwork. The CD edition has several tracks that are slightly edited down from the version on the vinyl edition, and one track that does not appear on the CD, but the CD does include a very short bonus track not on the vinyl edition. Packaged in a gatefold style card sleeve with the CD held in a moon shape cut on the inside."
