Title: Dial 00 EP
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 000EP
2000 release, limited stock. New imprint from Hamburg's electronic scene. A three-artist compilation of "abstract minimal," featuring: Lawrence (member of unnamed Ladomat 2000 group), Pawel (aka Turner, also a Ladomat recording artist) and Carsten Jost. "Fresh 4 tracker working disparate sonic piecemeal wisely; your standard fare reverse-feed/(ne)gated kicks, well-wise if not rhythmically confusing/useless disco loops, a Smiths loop run through the Filterbank?, etc... There's even a nice one on here based around the timbres of the stock consumer-grade (as if to imply the existence of a 'pro-line') Casio keyboard arpeggiator that drifts rather pleasantly into BOC land, even with it's quarterly placement reminder. Quite enjoyable..." -- Hrvatski.

Title: Diamond Daze
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 005CD
The first Pantha Du Prince album from 2004, repressed. Pantha Du Prince captures the parts of a vanishing youth on this Dial debut, Diamond Daze. In a white studio behind the railways next to sweating rock bands and speeding trains divided only by white cloths is a person dreaming in grids and fragments of images, sounds, noises and feelings. Based on a past filled with British independent music and the techno beacons of Hamburg, Franklin and Cologne, electronic music became the artist's salvation. Far away from the pressure to play guitar, the catharsis found in the studio and the new social structures in the club made coal-dust crystallize into diamonds. Diamond Daze traces new lines, branching out and losing itself in woody landscapes and fog, leading to pleasurable places in the rising sunlight from the cave. Diamond Daze triggers romance like lightning in the hot shimmer of the night. Presence is torn apart in the lake of melancholy. Wounded textures and cryptic pop unfold their mysteries in a pumping, crystalline mobile of sound. Shivering noise-pop-drones, pulsing patterns of bass-drum-bass, filigreed clicks, bursting diamonds. In the heart, walls of guitars and the beat keep you dancing and the mind flies over roaring, snowy, enchanted mountains.

Artist: SOLLMANN, PHILLIP
Title: Something Is Missing
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 008CD
"This is a short introduction to the artist Phillip Sollmann, who just finished his first conceptual album Something Is Missing for Dial-Records Hamburg. In times of relatively random digital number crunching this is a portion of drones dry as a desert, static as a lake, soft as the wind and close as a whisper. Produced during the last two years, this piece of work is the result of a thinking on theory of sound in space. While studying computer music at a Viennese university, Phillip Sollmann got less and less interested in the possibilities of real-time processing with it's glitches and grains -- and started to re-explore the work of people like La Monte Young, Charlemagne Palestine, C.M. Von Hausswolff, Yoko Ono or Phil Niblock, to name a few -- not to forget This Heat's influence. Listening closely will make you hear the artist raise his voice ('Room Five') on a specially intonated version of Jane's 'It's a Fine Day' (originally on Cherry Records, 1983). Also known as Efdemin for producing Detroit influenced slow and noisy minimal techno (which was released on Dial Rec and his own imprint Tobin), Phillip Sollmann concentrated more and more on ideas of sound related to space -- which lead to his idea of static music presented in two site specific installations, one in Vienna in 2004 and another one in 'Die Blaue Kugel' Hamburg, 2005. All pieces on Something Is Missing were done in a graphical programming environment and will be performed live in 2006, presenting his cyclical & shimmering tones to the audience."

Artist: PANTHA DU PRINCE
Title: This Bliss
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 009CD
The second Pantha Du Prince album from 2007, repressed. This is DJ, producer, composer and furniture maker Hendrik Weber's (aka Pantha Du Prince) second full-length release on Dial. Weber has always explored new worlds of sound under pseudonyms such as Panthel, Gluhen4 or as bassist of Hamburg-based group, Stella. 2006 was a fine, fine year for Pantha du Prince -- his remixes for Depeche Mode and Phantom/Ghost plus the 12" single Lichten/Walden were all met with the highest acclaim and critique. The follow-up to all this, This Bliss is an album that aspires to push all boundaries from the heart of house and techno music. It was produced here and there, on trips visiting friends. On trains, planes and automobiles while travelling between Hamburg, Berlin, New York and an old Parisian monastery. From Terry Riley to Wim Mertens, Robert Skempton to the mighty ski jumper Steiner, Pantha Du Prince takes inspiration from a varied and wondrous spectrum of composers and artists. Even the imagery that fills the CD booklet is taken from Paul Virilio's book, Bunker Archeology -- though this album has nothing to do with a bunker. Pantha Du Prince invites invasions and emissions as a source of inspiration to motivate the interpretation of his music. Before concluding that Pantha Du Prince is taking us down a road of obscurity -- immediately refrain from such thoughts. This Bliss is one of the most harmonious and blissful audio journeys in dance music arguably heard in the past half decade. The clear origins and destinations his music take you to and from are ever present (see Detroit, Moodymann, minimal and acid) but the true thread that seems to hermetically hold This Bliss album together is a mood of exquisite melancholy that is inherent to each track.

Title: Efdemin
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 010CD
This is Berlin-based Phillip Sollmann's debut full-length release as Efdemin, for Dial Records. This self-titled debut gives a summary of past, present and future tendencies. After "Bergwein" became kind of a 2006 summer anthem (high chart positions in Groove, De-Bug, Spex and also German dance charts), he won over a lot of new fans. After moving to Berlin, Efdemin soon got his DJ residency at the legendary Panoramabar, while also playing regular sets with his Pigon-mate RNDM at the Cityfox in Zürich. His remixes and tracks for other labels beside Dial (Liebe*Detail, Curle, Pokerflat, Ladomat, District of Corruption) made their way into record bags of DJs like Laurent Garnier and Steve Bug. As 2006 was already a creative and successful year including some friendly features in the dance press -- Efdemin is working to make 2007 even more successful. The ten tracks on the album vary from experimental minimalism to deep house to straight techno and go further on to after-hour-inspired loop tracks -- although they form a unique and intense unit.

Title: More Love Now
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 011CD
This is the third release from Dominique, the Berlin-Kreuzberg based group, started around 1999. From the beginning, Dominique has been structured more as a loose collective than as a band, each member already an artist, writer, filmmaker and/or musician in their own right. Building on the success of their first album Speak To Me and the more or less "live" sequel The Same You, their third album More Love Now, is their most ambitious, elaborate and best offering to date. It was written and recorded over a period of two years by the band's current six members plus various guests; Thomas Goldhahn recorded and helped to arrange the strings, and if Dominique's collaborative ethos accounts for the music diversity of the album, it is Richard Davis' production that lends their combined efforts its sparkle and epic grandeur. Though still recognizably a Dominique album, this time each song is given its own distinct and complex sound, creating separate spaces for their evocative lyrics to do their work. In the mind's eye, images follow the precisely-blended lyrics and harmonies. Chimes, harmonica, chords on an acoustic guitar and a changing snare-drum sound accompany soft-spoken word and rich singing. There is even a band choir on "Air," as well as euphoric group singing on "You Know Now." Dominique's music is about contours, even when as in the mildly psychedelic "Goldchain," isolated background sounds flutter out of the arrangements like surprise visitors, migrating birds, or travellers. Throughout the album, the group insists on More Love Now, knowing all the while that it requires as much care as possible.

Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 012CD
Lawrence aka Sten aka Peter M. Kersten presents his second full-length album for the Dial label, taking us on a deep journey from Hamburg via Berlin and Detroit City to reach the stars. Two decades of inspiration from house music and techno has brought him to The Essence. Kersten launched the Dial label in 2000 together with his flat mate and DJ friend Carsten Jost. After his Lawrence releases on Ghostly International, Cocoon, Mule Electronics, Kompakt and Sender, it is the Sten moniker which reduces Kersten's musicality to the magic moments on a minimal dancefloor. His deep and functional Detroitish minimal techno has been the DJ's choice from the first 12" to Sten's album Leaving the Frantic, released in 2004 on Dial. Kersten has toured around the world, inviting the dancing people on a deep journey into Lawrence/Sten-sound, hitting the floors in Russia, the United States, South America, all over Europe and even Japan, where he released a compilation in 2006 of his best tracks, remixes and some exclusive new tunes.

Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 013CD
This is Germany's Christian Naujoks' self-titled debut album for the Dial label. A composer of contemporary music, a singer/songwriter, an electronic music producer, a pop musician or maybe a conceptual sound artist -- either way you name it, you won't entirely grasp this artist. Starting off with a set of precisely-composed post-minimal pieces for piano and marimbas, flute and strings carefully recorded on analogue tape at Tobias Levin's Electric Avenue Studio, the album leads surprisingly and tenderly through a wide horizon of sonic impressions. From the indeterminate chamber music of "Two Epilogues" and the intimate vocals on the breathless revision of New Order's "Leave Me Alone," (re-titled "Off The Rose") to the subtle sound sculpturing of "Light Over The Ranges," which sounds like a neon-tinged sunrise, to the a cappella croon/Gregorian chant of "Bar 27," this release refuses to be defined, determined, or dissected. Despite all the disparity of this release, everything is in its right place, like the broken shards that assemble to create a cathedral's stained-glass window. Other surprises include a simply unheard-of 12-tone R'n'B piece "Bloom," in which Webern, Can and Prince seem to collide to form a blutopian party, as well as a concluding, fuzzed-out, half-coherent tribute to Bob Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue." Can't wait for the future? Join the mean-time radio hour with your host Christian Naujoks. Contemplative, serious meditations that give your head room to breathe while ascending into pure bliss consciousness.

Title: Thrown Out Of Drama School
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 014CD
This is the fourth full-length by Germany's Thies Mynther and Dirk von Lowtzow aka Phantom/Ghost. On Thrown Out Of Drama School, the duo travel light through a cheerfully upbeat world full of amicable malcontents, dallying dream-dancers and carefree loafers. Yet despite this terrestrial cast and the cutback instrumentation of the songs -- (prepared) piano and vocals -- Thrown Out Of Drama School is an exceedingly festive affair, real red-letter day music. Their common passion for the made-up, the thrown-together and the weird and wonderful has paved the way for Phantom/Ghost for the last ten years, and now they have arrived at a point where a dalliance with artificiality, mannerisms, exalted quotations and theatrical poses can be observed in its purest form: on the stage, in drama school, behind and in front of the velvet curtain. Even though Thrown Out Of Drama School is no "real" high-school musical, it loosely follows the concept of a musical -- a small and fantastical concert with nine compositions, albeit with a few rough edges. Even before the curtain rises, a timid waltz resounds. The introduction to "The Charge Of A Light Brigade" is a squint copy of an English march, with all the military rigour removed. "Thrown Out Of Drama School" is uptempo and bawdy -- a frolicsome ode to the art of willful dallying. Mynther's piano is caught up in close complicity with the vocals; at times as demonstratively docile and innocent as a "do-re-mi" finger exercise, only to wander off in the next moment, making a complete farce of its function as an accompanying instrument. Alongside these made-for-the-stage musical numbers, there are also songs that work on a visual level and conjure up film-like narratives. They transport the listener to far-flung regions, to Morocco, Miami, or even further, to surreal dream-worlds. One example is the musical scoring of the literary text "The Process" (after Brion Gysin) that tells of a hallucinatory trip across the Sahara. Sometimes the piano shimmers dully from the background, and then it resembles a laryngitic string ensemble, rasping and vibrating. This duet with the Berlin artist Michaela Meise (who also sings on several other songs) perfects the desert magic. Thrown Out Of Drama School pushes us into a theatre of the absurd, where you aren't sure if you're a member of the audience, or one of the players. Applause, the curtain falls.

Title: Pawel
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 015CD
Almost 10 years after Paul Kominek aka Turner co-founded the Dial label, he now releases his long-awaited first album as Pawel. This debut comes out covered with silver typography on a white sleeve -- minimal and glittering -- just like Pawel's music. After first touching the techno music scene in Detroit-influenced Frankfurt, he moved to the melancholic, deep city of Hamburg. From here, Pawel started several trips around the world -- mainly South America and Asia. All of these locations melt together into the typical sound of Pawel. Tracks such as "Coke" and "Crillon" are deeply inspired by almost two decades of Detroit's Planet E-era, followed by new artists like Patrice Scott and Omar S. The Warp-alike "Muscles" features a touch of Plaid's elegance, but subtle deepness connects it to other lowlights like "Alvin" and "Wasting My Time." Pawel is sweet, lovely and reinvented.

"Sten's second release shows again his addiction to romanticized minimalism. "After the ultra deep Dial10, Efdemin aka Phillip Sollmann is back on Dial-rec. The tracks, which are mostly arranged live, have this typical exciting flow again... delicious sounds to be discovered. The logo side starts very low with a loop finding splitter of sound to get up slowly into a minimalistic deep tech track, a 'Post Script Blues' for the shiny floor. 'Colonia' is a surprisingly straight shuffle tune built in Vienna to be loved in Cologne and the world. With 'Isobel,' Efdemin creates a storytelling ambient track so nice and deep as if the spirit of Philip Glass and Brian Eno has fused with the heart of the young composer called Phillip Sollmann."

Catalog #: DIAL 020CD
Dial Records celebrates 10 years of existence with their 2010 compilation. When Dial Records started in 2000 with a bunch of friends highly inspired by deep house, Detroit techno and Cologne lovetunes, none of them ever thought about running a decent record label. The only concept David Lieske, Peter Kersten and Paul Kominek had in mind was never to be part of any proper record business, never to be controlled by any rule or trend, and to always let the record label be a part of their love for music and art. Even the Dial family was never intended to grow that big -- almost 70% of the artists on their first compilation are the same as on 2010. This small label from Hamburg has climbed a high mountain. Touching on cities such as Detroit, Tokyo, Paris, Berlin, and Buenos Aires, releasing music like contemporary classic, drones and glitches, ambient, guitar pop, singer-songwriter, deep house, minimal techno, and discovering artists such as Michaela Meise, Sergej Jensen, Dirk Stewen, Hanna Schwarz, Anna Möller, and Cosima von Bonin, all this fills a decade of Dial Records. But still the main part is the music -- and as you hold the 2010 compilation in your hands and listen to tunes by Phantom Ghost, Isolée, Pantha Du Prince, Carsten Jost, John Roberts, Efdemin, Lawrence, Christian Naujoks, Dominique, Rndm, Pigon, and Kassian Troyer, please know that this is only the beginning of what more is yet to come from Dial.

"Pawel Kominek also known as Turner, plays the guitar for his new album out on Ladomat next year. The deep and melancholic Turner pieces will fit one of the best indietronic longplayer so far. But the guitar player needs club music to survive, we all know that. So Pawel constructs his second EP on Dial (Watch Dial - Pawel - Into Pieces). The main track 'Grab it' is a funky house stomper reminding of some freaks outta UK. Firstly released on this year's politronics compilation, vocals by Turner himself, this is what we call an earworm. Three offbeat tracks will fit the next two step party and revolute the hole UK scene. No, the tracks are just too sweet to sweat."

Title: Chicago
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 021CD
After the huge success of his self-titled debut in 2007, Chicago is the second album by Berlin-based producer/DJ Efdemin. Chicago, the artist's contribution to urban blues, contains 10 tracks as a result of Phillip Sollmann's immersion into his own archives and experiences -- may it be as a singer in a band years ago, composing theatre-music or playing as a DJ in clubs all over the globe. Each incarnation deals with various influences, although always expressing his unique sense for deepness and his love for dance music. There is jazz, there is house, there is techno and there are his instruments: cello, zither, drums, percussion, organ, synths, drum-machines and several small things like flutes and pipes. Besides techno itself, there are many important influences in Efdemin's music, from different sources and other times -- a cosmos of music that has followed him for a long time and influenced his drifting and melancholic approach to producing electronic dance music, be it the otherworldly music of Chicago-based Sun Ra, the minimalistic jazz/world-music-studies of Don Cherry, the enterprising tape music of Basil Kirchin or the microtonal instruments of Harry Partch. Is this a Chicago house record? No! But the Windy City was the starting point to blow the cosmos with such abstract, lovely music developed in a thousand directions. Arts, literature, architecture, jazz, American folk music, hip-hop, Chicago seems to be the source of reference for so many important movements crossing Efdemin's work.

Artist: ROBERTS, JOHN
Title: Glass Eights
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: DIAL 022CD
This is the highly-anticipated debut album from American electronic artist John Roberts. Glass Eights debuts a sound impeccably curated and delicately enigmatic. With its contemplative instrumental weave, this album asks broader cultural questions about the psychological function of music as it blurs distinctions between sublimation and expression, escape and confrontation, medication and symptom, repression and reserve. The electric and grand piano, organ, violin, modular synthesizers and eclectic percussion split, shatter and reform, disclosing an aesthetic sensibility which delicately reflects on the eerie stillness of a grey day, the repetition of a single note on a detuned upright piano, a deflated balloon, the white of a funeral arrangement, exhibiting a kind of discrete, perverse hopefulness. Complicating melancholy, the emptiness of a mechanized loop serves to reveal a particular humaneness, caused by a percussive rapping, shattering into slow-motion, or an off-keyed drunken note of a piano begins to sound strangely in tune, finding itself transmuted into something more obscure, potent, and hard-hitting. Rendering awkwardness enigmatic and anxiety beautiful, effectively, Roberts' questions if there is not something more natural, more human, in the hesitation of a clap that rings a moment too late. The album's interior reserve heightens the potency of its immaculate transitions, which harness a primal sense of rhythm and, at times, the utter impossibility of standing still. Echoes of influence can be found in The Smiths' self-deprecating charm of the tragic, the muted, off-key eroticism of Bonnie "Prince" Billy, introverted house music of early '80s Chicago undermining its own progression, falling apart and collecting itself into darker psychological territory. The album nods to the production of mainstream rap and R&B, cultural and ethnic appropriations/dialogues between early European and American electronic music and modern anxiety, acknowledging both the productive and problematic nature of technological innovation. Glass Eights does not just generate a new auditory experience but builds an ornate frame through which to view the intricate psychological undertones in music of the past, and more importantly, constructs an anomaly that sounds a lot like the future.

Title: War es Nicht
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 022EP
"Denis Karimani should be well known to the sound searching raver for a long time. He already released a few 12"s on Areal, Trapez, Dekathlon etc. Under his alter ego 'Remute', and his live gigs are unforgettable. Playing in his techno boy groups Error Error and Einmusik the more poptrancy way, he firstly appears under his real name Denis Karimani on Dial records, the Hamburg/Berlin based label of Carsten Jost & Lawrence. The title track 'War es Nicht' starts with an ultra deep melody loop, slowly rising to an unbelievable explosion of euphory. On the b-side Denis Karimani speaks the same colourful language of techno music from the beyond, deep and kicking."

Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 023EP
"'Butterfly Girl' is one of the brightest shining jewels on Pantha du Prince's album Diamond Daze (Dial 2004). As remixers he invites his friends Efdemin and Sten aka Lawrence. Efdemin makes classical minimal grooving, with soulful sounds that make it deep on the floor. With Stens remix the 'Butterfly Girl' enters the Detroit-linked pumping zone related to his releases on Sender and Dial and on the latest Cocoon compilation as well. A bonus version of Pantha du Prince himself analyzes the basic ingredients of the original track and follows his genius sound research as Gluhen 4 (Dial CD in 2002)."

Title: Bruxelles
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 024EP
"After some live concerts and DJ gigs alongside the Vienna and Swiss minimal scene and a remix for labelmate Pantha du Prince, efdemin is back with a new masterpiece. Since he is studying computer music, efdemin aka Phillip Sollmann got deeper into minimal music, from John Cage to La Monte Young. Also filled with inspiration of the post-Hawtin school, his definition of techno speaks a unique language. If you watch his own history you can see a proper change from Detroitish deep house to that special minimal sound, but you will feel the intense way efdemin falls in love with the inner sound."

Artist: NAUJOKS, CHRISTIAN
Title: True Life/In Flames
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $20.00
Catalog #: DIAL 024LP
Gatefold LP version. After his self-titled debut of 2009, True Life/In Flames is the second album by Berlin-based Christian Naujoks. Recorded by Tobias Levin at the Laiszhalle Philharmony Hamburg. A dense concert atmosphere sets the tone. Stringent seriality is combined with a romanticism of the minor key which one also finds in a certain corner of modern 20th-century piano music, in the vein of Michael Nyman, Wim Mertens, Arvo Pärt, John Cage and György Kurtág. Deep contemplation and solemn expression paired with intellectual clarity. Each note has weight, and every sound a purpose. Unlike Naujoks' debut, True Life/In Flames completely relinquishes the use of any sort of electronically-generated sound. Instead, there is a consistent stylization of what one might call "organic sound." The figure of the bedroom producer is relieved here by that of the composer and pianist. There's a piano, played by Naujoks; there's the marimba of Martin Krause and then Naujoks' voice. This album could be designated as a suite with various movements, bracketed by the conspicuous reprise of its most song-like piece, "Moments I" and "Moments II," as well as by the economy of the unchanging instrumentation and the black and white cover photograph by Dirk Stewen that references the recording location: the Laeiszhalle of the Hamburg Philharmonic. Piano and marimba stand there on an almost cave-like stage, surrounded by music stands, microphones and stacked Egon Eiermann SE 68 SU chairs -- a company of genuine instruments. Again, Christian Naujoks embraces the world of contemporary music-loving connaisseurs. True Life/In Flames is a gift for all those hunting the unique, the deep, the outstanding. All's quiet at the beginning, as it is at the end.

Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 025EP
aka: The Lost Tracks Pt. 3. Eight track EP. "'After hours on the dancefloor, he said' ... Dominique's words and music emerge from encounters with the quiet such as: a male who finds it a bit hard to express his feelings ('Speak to Me'), secret admiration of a generous elderly and slightly hung over grande dame ('Sun Goddess'), being touched as you like to be ('Massage'), 'appreciation' of a spacious apartment that you can't afford ('Great Space'), and a magazine-absorbed stranger on the u-bahn ('Cruising Queen')."

Artist: NIKE.BORDOM
Title: Music For Non-Existing Dancefloors
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 027EP
"Back in the days Annette Lehmann run Hamburg's best Recordshop 'Reis', selling minimal techno and very special and hard to find issues. She fell in love with minimal electronic music listening to the first releases on Sähkö. This is maybe one of her greatest influences producing music or DJing under her alter ego Nike.Bordom (Nike after the Greek goddess). Her debut single Music For Non-Existing Dance Floors starts with a conceptual spoken word intro and stops with a midi ano epos. The four dance pieces have a unique cold warmth, deepness within. Nike.Bordom's tracks make a very special dance floor exist -- at least in or mind, when we close our eyes and keep on dancing all night."

Artist: STEN
Title: Take Me to the Fridge
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 028EP
"Sten is back after his releases on Sender and Dial, a few remixes for Pokerflat's Lihmacon, DK7, Pantha du Prince and some tracks taking part on compilations of Tobias Thomas, André Galuzzi and soon Josh Wink. Title track 'Take Me to the Fridge' combines classical nonsense Chicago vocals with an extra euphoric basskicking Arrangement. Quite minimal starts the B1 track, ending in a storytelling scape piece, connected to Sten's alter ego Lawrence. With a deep minimal piece this club 12" never ends."

Artist: PANTHA DU PRINCE
Title:
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)

Catalog #: DIAL 029EP
"With the new Pantha du Prince single the waiting for his next album begins. Hendrik Weber aka Glühen aka Pantha du Prince speaks his own language of minimal techno. Bright shining and deep moving pieces like this will tell a story of highest heights to the advanced DJs and a tasteful crowd."

Title: Bergwein
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 030EP
"With the great Efdemin track from the Groove 100 compilation CD mixed by Lawrence." Long before releasing Efdemin's 'Bergwein' it seemed to be a little underground hit, featured on the groove 100 CD mixed by Lawrence and a part of the sets faves of DJs like Shinedoe, Sascha Funke, Carsten Jost and many more. A piece of minimal primetime deepness, filled with Detroit strings and the most hypnotic bassline ever. Lawrence's unserious takeout shows his unstraight infantile side -- inspired by bell'n'bass boosting Rephlex madness. Jubilee dial 30 ends up with a superlow Nico cover-version taken from the new neu CD by Michaela Meise and Sergej Jensen."

Artist: LAWRENCE
Title: Deep Summer Hole
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 031EP
"Lawrence is back from joining the deep summerhole. The result is a exclusive deep dancer -- for fans of the Modern Love sound, but in a typical deep Lawrence style. 'Off The Line' has been formally featured on de-bug magazine's 100th issue CD, now on vinyl in a very special long version. 'Deep Summer Hole' -- surely a step deeper -- organ chords flirting with Kerry Chandler -- but watch the bassline -- this is serious! Final track of this brilliant all-time EP is the disturbing 'Neither.'"

Artist: PAWEL
Title: Ceramics
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 032EP
"After his sad and beautiful Turner album Slow Abuse (Ladomat 2005) Paul Kominek aka Pawel is on a journey into deep dance again! Influences are the Amsterdam Detrotish scene (Intacto, Delsin, Rushhour) and all the real Motorcity People -- from the first generation to Vince Watson's Detroit trance and the Beatdown of Omar-S. But one main Influence is Pawel himself -- the sounddesigner, DJ and critical dancer. 'The Aesthetics of Resistence' is the essence of both dancefloor sides: the rising warm-up piece 'Ceramics' on the one hand, a smashing primetime hit 'The Aesthetics of Resistence' on the other. This will move the clubs flavoured from new Detroitish to deeply rooted."

Artist: PIGON
Title: Little Albio Street
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 033EP
"Pigon is Phillip Sollmann and Oliver Kargl. Phillip Sollmann is also known as Efdemin. He studied electro acoustic recording in Vienna where he met art student Oliver Kargl, also known as DJ Rndm. Together they are involved in music production and performance, and the development of the 'Rocker' software drum machine. Most of Pigon's tracks are done live with simple edits of endless sessions with their self programmed 'Rocker' software. Influenced by Detroit techno, Pigon is always looking for the perfect simple loop with subtle variations to the single instruments. Little Albio Street (done in Vienna and Berlin) is the first release on Dial Rec. after their debut on Just recordings this year and goes deeper into the marshes of techno -- focusing on classical deepness compared with rhythmical shifting patterns. Watch out for more on Dial and Just."

Artist: JOST, CARSTEN
Title: Atlantis I & II
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 035EP
Dial co-founder David Lieske (aka Carsten Jost) presents a classic and new house-influenced two-tracker, infused with the influences of Rick Wade, Kerri Chandler, Marcellus Pittman, and other luminaries. You might hear these references in his latest productions, but he uniquely transfigures them into a subtle warmth that drives the crowd.

Artist: STEN
Title: Undercover
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 036EP
Sten aka Lawrence is back with a pure view of sound. Chordish, deep and always a fine link to Detroit, these tracks are built to dance. "Undercover" comes up with a simple but heavy bassline, a Sten-ish primetime cut for the masses. Thank god for the Lawrence version! This is the real shit -- a deep bleepy tune for all you house music lovers. With a fine mixture of Lawrence's melosound and the uplifting Sten peaks, B2 moves the softly driven techno crowd. The cover artwork shows another image of the "Architecture Series," a photograph taken by the Berlin artist, Annette Kelm.

Artist: LAWRENCE
Title: Pond
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 037EP
Lawrence aka Sten presents some deep and dirty house tracks that are built for dance. The lightful wooden sound-starter "Compulsion" features a super-low, crunchy bassline that fills the minimal, chord-ish track. The similarly-structured "Pond" can be regarded as the essence of the new Lawrence universe. Finally, "Laid One" is a simple homage to the first days of Chicago house -- a track for the Box.

Artist: PIGON
Title: Promises
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: DIAL 039EP
The third release by the Berlin-based duo Pigon (aka Efdemin & Rndm) takes a ride into deep house-flavored techno. Focusing on slow-evolving themes and hypnotic, stripped-down rhythms with slight changes, showing a very minimal approach to the music. Their influences range from warm, lush, Transmat-like techno soundscapes via the new deep-down Detroit movement. "Promises" was inspired by Louderbach's "Season 6," originally released on Enemy Love and contains samples from that track. Samples used with kind permission.

Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: DIAL 040EP
Dial celebrates their 40th release with a double 12" for the dancefloor and beyond. Hiding from conventions, destroying innovation, this EP puts together what belongs together. Carsten Jost comes together with My My's Carsten Klemann to build a Detroit-by-way-of-Berlin future classic, Sten digs a little deeper with "Fortune," then there is the astonishing solo debut of Oliver Kargl aka Rndm, one-half of Pigon, Pantha Du Prince, and Phanthom Ghost.

Artist: STEN
Title: Way To The Stars
Label: DIAL (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: DIAL 041EP
Far is the way to the stars. Where Sun Ra started and Carl Craig continued, Sten aka Lawrence finds the way again. Leaving Hamburg travelling via Detroit City, you need just 7 minutes to reach the Universe. "Way To The Stars" is Sten's tribute to Motorcity's techno-soul, a hymn covered by 808 beats and holy strings, a hypnotic bass line between. "More Stash," a Detroitish house monster and "The Gate," a deeply broken tool, make this 12" an appetizer of things to come.
