Catalog #:
DBIRD 008EP
With remixes from Audion, Tanner Ross, Kevin Saunderson. "Claude VonStroke released the original as part of his
Beware of the Bird
album in 2006 as a tribute to his original home town of Detroit, Michigan. The track slowly caught fire and was championed by almost every genre of dance music DJ from Loco Dice to Mark Farina throughout the year. At the peak of its popularity, Richie Hawtin named it 'best track of 2006.' This is a very special remix package blessed by the kings of Detroit, old and new. Side A features Audion's twisted minimal version of the original. Side B features the legendary Kevin Saunderson's classic Detroit style mix. Side B also features newcomer Tanner Ross who has made a tech house version that is really something special."

The Whistler Remixes
Label:
DIRTYBIRD
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DBIRD 009EP
"Claude VonStroke's 'The Whistler' was selected by both
Mixmag
and Ministry of Sound as one of the best tracks of 2006. Like using different martial arts styles in a kung fu masterpiece, Dirtybird A&R has put together an amazing remix package featuring 5 master producers from around the world. Hailing from Mississippi and Florida, better known as the 'dirty south,' Diplo is well known for his raw, bumping, hip-hop infused style. Representing both London and Berlin, Jesse Rose is one of the leaders of the famed fidgit house movement. This mix has been hugely renowned in house nights like Back to Basics in Leeds. In traditional booty bass style, Assault adds his own flavor, including an additional vocal to really give it the authentic 'ass n titties sound.'"

Chimps
Label:
DIRTYBIRD
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DBIRD 010EP
"Two hard driving remixes come in from the underground. The first remix is a slow burning techno gem by Jochen Trappe that has been absolutely slaying dance floors all across Europe. Jochen has 2 singles out on Connoisseur Records and was responsible for Claude's favorite track of 2005/6 called 'Organic.' The second mix comes from San Francisco producer Alland Byallo, who recently had a hot record called 'Buckets' on Germany's Liebe Detail imprint. Alland is a wicket techno producer as well as the promoter of [KONTROL], the best minimal techno night in the US. He delivers a hard charging version, full of wobbly tech-bass and strong drums not for the faint of heart."

WORTHY
Title:
Irst_te?
Label:
DIRTYBIRD
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DBIRD 011EP
With remixes from Claude VonStroke and Christian Martin. "And so we have 'Irst_te?' The word is Bay Area Fillmore slang for 'Thirsty?' Worthy saw it painted on a fence somewhere and made a track about it. This could be a breakout year for Worthy who has already had multiple plays on Radio One of his 'Whistler' remix and 'That Funkin' Noise' from his digital label, Katabatic. 'Irst_te?' is bouncy and fun and it sounds kind of like it was inspired by the band in the original Star Wars with the alien clarinet players and the blue elephant on keys. Claude VonStroke takes it darker and more techno, with an epic sounding build that could fit into almost any set."

Title:
Kruger Fingers/Data Rape
Label:
DIRTYBIRD
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DBIRD 012EP
"Tanner Ross and KiloWatts come to us from Boston, Mass. Their jam, 'Kruger Fingers' sounds like Matthew Dear met Miss Honey Dijon at a Halloween party. Rolling funky bass lines with a wicked popping techno synth make this something that can fit into a minimal or tech house set. A seriously hot piece of music."

CATZ 'N DOGZ
Title:
Fixation/A Chicken Affair
Label:
DIRTYBIRD
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DBIRD 013EP
"3 Channels, the two prolific minimal producers from Poland who turned in one of the very best remixes of 'Who's Afraid of Detroit?' last year, return to Dirtybird with a new alias called Catz 'n Dogz. This duo is really delivering some great music that harkens back to the old days of house music when people had fun and parties were all about different kinds of music and not sticking to one genre. Check it."

STARR, RIVA
Title:
Bubble EP
Label:
DIRTYBIRD
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DBIRD 014EP
"Riva Starr is new on the house scene after a successful career as top breaks artist, Madox. His first house release came out earlier this year on Jesse Rose's Frontroom Recordings and he has also teamed up on remixes for John Acquaviva. The
Bubble
EP is a collection of floppy, gurgling bass, heavy-stacked drums and slow-cooked barbeque funk. The A-side 'WTF' is already featured on Claude VonStoke's new
At The Controls
mix compilation. The B-side 'Bubble' sounds like Mr. Oizo went to an old-school rave, and the B2 track, 'BaddassBass' is all about hard drums and scary synth riffs that develop into full-on freakishness."

STYLE OF EYE
Title:
The Big Kazoo EP
Label:
DIRTYBIRD
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DBIRD 015EP
"Style of Eye has delivered one of the most creative Dirtybird releases to date. This is a totally fresh sound coming straight out of Stockholm, Sweden. 'The Big Kazoo' is an epic tech-funk masterpiece that achieves ultimate ass-shaking glory while also innovating at the same time. Yes, in the past Dirtybird has brought you animals, fart noises, bass blips, and strange breakdowns and now a kazoo? Well, all we have to say is that 'The Big Kazoo' goes a step beyond any gimmicks and brings you the real shit. The beat is solid, driving funk, just how we like it, and the track is destined to be a Dirtybird classic. The B-side 'Hide' ain't no slouch either. It mixes in really well with anything you got with congos or any kind of Latin shuffle. But 'Hide' also has a really hot techno element that makes it very versatile. The beat is rock-solid with a strong syncopated pattern and cool synth dropouts that will even bring the socialites and wallflowers to life."

VONSTROKE & CHRISTIAN MARTIN, CLAUDE
Title:
Groundhog Day
Label:
DIRTYBIRD
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DBIRD 016EP
"Claude VonStroke returns with his first original record in over a year. This time he partners with long time friend and upcoming producer, Christian Martin. This is a melodic hybrid of techno and house with influences as far away as drum n' bass. The flip side features a remix by super hot producer Gabriel Ananda and newcomer Alice Rose. They playfully twist the main theme throughout, sprinkling in stabs to the constantly-building groove. Many people have said the original record sounds like a follow-up to 'Who's Afraid of Detroit?' but we will let you decide what to think for yourself."

GREEN, TIM
Title:
Revox
Label:
DIRTYBIRD
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DBIRD 017EP
"At the ripe old age of 22, England's Tim Green already has five releases on Germany's esteemed Four:Twenty label (as TG), and more on the way to Ritchie Hawtin's Plus 8 imprint (as Needles). Now, Dirtybird has nabbed this youngster! At the heart of 'Revox's unshakeable groove is a deceptively simple chord sequence. It swells and recedes, climbing octaves then resetting itself, as almost-discernable vocals mutter and twist in the borders. It wouldn't be a Dirtybird track without that glorious dancefloor surprise -- an explosion of bells and squirming bass rounds out 'Revox's second half, setting the stage perfectly for the original chord's triumphant return. On the flip side, Dirtybird's own Justin Martin continues his mastery of the 808, turning in a remix that will rattle nails out of subwoofers and asses out of their panties. Drop this straight into your favorite club's soundsystem, then watch its effect on the room from the very first bass drop. Whether you're trying to peel dancers off the bar at 10 pm or looking to tip the dancefloor into frenzy mode at 3am, his remix delivers every single time."

MARTIN BROTHERS, THE
Title:
Rocket Surgery
Label:
DIRTYBIRD
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DBIRD 018EP
"At a time when hundreds of cookie cutter tracks get released every week, the Martin Brothers are taking a stand. Justin and Christian Martin team up again on Dirtybird perfecting the style they created back in 2006 -- hyphy house. Anchored by greasy, dirty bass lines and swirling, heady synths, hyphy house is the bastard child of Bay Area hip-hop and dirty house. It's a cross between 20 inch rims and rocket boosters that could only come from the freaks in Oakland and San Francisco. On the
Rocket Surgery
EP, The Martin Brothers draw inspiration from werewolf flicks, rapper E-40, '50s sci-fi radio and Bobby McFerrin. 'Dum' is for heaving dancefloors threatening to buckle. From its opening synth line to its endlessly rising (and surprising) second half, this track bristles with euphoric momentum and hilarious vocal funk. 'Full Moon' takes a mournful wolf howl and flips it into a full-on Martin Brothers chopped melody line, complete with punchy lows and skeleton xylophone accents. The breakdown will have you reaching for your silver bullets. 'Rocket Surgery' explores a complicated melodic struggle between its wistful main theme and booming sub hits. After a spirited battle through the buildup, the 808 wins! An avalanche of thunderous descending bass notes reign gloriously through the end of the track, anchored by gut-wrenching growls and echoes of the departing melody."
