Title:
Sandsnake
Label:
DISFIGURED DUBZ (UK)
Format:

Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
DISF 001EP
2009 repress. "Skream launches his own imprint Disfigured Dubz. As Altern 8 said, 'watch your bass bins I'm telling ya.' Arguably the biggest name in dubstep and probably the most prolific producer too, Skream provides a more personal outlet for his creative genius on his own label. Moving snares hurtle along at breakneck speed while techno textures, buzz saw effects and a driving insistent synthesized melody demonstrate why dubstep is the most intense, exciting music around at the moment. On 'Sandsnake' Skream teams up with Cluekid, better know for his collabs with Cotti. A consistent fixture on his Rinse FM show, the track has a cheeky flute-esque melody with tough riffle shot snares that lead into a dutty bass grind that refuses to be pinned to one motif. Miss it at your peril."

DIGITAL MYSTIKZ/SILKIE
Title:
Shake Out Your Demons
Label:
DISFIGURED DUBZ (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DISF 002EP
Early 2008 release. "Skream's own imprint Disfigured Dubz delivers the vibes again. It's the old guard versus the whippersnappers here, as Digital Mystiks featuring Sgt Pokes share the vinyl with Anti Social's Silkie. 'Shake Out Your Demons' skanks out atop a percussive tribal rhythm and Pokes' vibes. On the flip, Silkie delivers a reggae-infused bumper that skanks along with flying clap rhythmics, a brace of melody lines, bleeps and growling sub-bass."
Artist:
KULTURE
Title:
Diesel/Lost Emotions
Label:
DISFIGURED DUBZ (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DISF 003EP
"The return of Skream's mighty label Disfigured Dubz, fresh from releases from the likes of Digital Mystikz, Silkie, Cluekid and Skream himself, this time he introduces us to a relative newcomer to the scene, Kulture, a London based producer who is causing quite a buzz on the underground scene right now, having featured on Radio 1 for a live mix on Mary Anne Hobbs' show. His first release and arguably his finest tune to date, 'Diesel,' having been battered on dubplate for a while now by DJs such as N-Type, Skream, Chef, Joe Nice to name but a few, this one is sure to fly off the shelves!"

LATE
Title:
Saw, Sine, Square/Voices From The Night
Label:
DISFIGURED DUBZ (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
DISF 004EP
"Skream's label returns with two proper eyes-down rollers. Late's 'Saw, Sine, Square' is dub deepness, all halting beats and shimmering melodies. (It sounds like Pantha Du Prince gone dubstep.) The buzz over this record has been mounting up over recent months, but here it is."
Artist:
KITO
Title:
What If/Cold
Label:
DISFIGURED DUBZ (UK)
Format:

Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
DISF 005EP
"Dropping two records in one week, 005 spoils us with a debut release from Kito. Skream's label once again bringing the deep atmospheric shizzle. Kito's 'What If' has been getting caned by the likes of Loefah & Digital Mystikz."

"Brand new release on Skream's label Disfigured Dubz, after a little hiatus they're back with a bang, new hero's on the scene Kriptic Minds drop their debut for the label, and it's a banger!! 'Code 46' is gunna be in DJs boxes for time, such a deep deep dancefloor tune. Following on from their already legendary recent LP on Loefah's label Swamp 81 this is the real deal! We're back full circle in amongst the deep, dark spacious dubstep, it feels good (Like ketamine, but with nicer hair)."

INSTRA:MENTAL/VON D & RISKOTHEQUE
Title:
Voyeur/Like A Bird
Label:
DISFIGURED DUBZ (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
DISF 011EP
"Skream's label rounds off with a classic release. It's not often a gem like this comes along and it's no surprise that fellow production collaborator Skream picked it up for his Disfigured Dubz imprint. Having been a regular floor filler over the past year within the emerging techno x dubstep scene, 'Voyeur' has been in high demand and finally sees the light of day to many people's delight. It was one of Instra:mentals first dabbles with the 4/4 structure but has the maturity and qualities of a rediscovered 90s classic. Lazy robo beats set the tone for a slurred vocal that sounds like a drunken tourist in a red light district. At the same time, spacey atmospheres build in the background until they reach a peak and fade away into screaming stabs that get the crowd going mental. Expect to hear this for many years to come and could possibly reach classic status. Next up we have the AA side from upcoming artists Von D and Riscotheque. With their jazz/soul fueled take on Dubstep they're building their own little niche within the scene and are sure to shine this year. 'Like a Bird' mixes old skool vocal snippets, lurching fizzy mids and Detroit style stabs to create this monster that Skream and his fellow Djs have been rinsing to full effect over the last couple of months. A perfect balance of musical prowess and heavyweight beats and bass, this tune covers all angles nicely."

PHAELEH
Title:
Falling
Label:
DISFIGURED DUBZ (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
DISF 012EP
"Disfigured Dubz kick off the New Year with this single by Bristolian producer Phaeleh, hot off the back of his debut album
Fallen Light
. With this offering, he sticks very much to his trademark style. An intricate and ever progressing drum track provides the spine for the thought provoking cloudy atmospheres, glittering melodies and moody chords. He somehow manages to catch a similar vibe to early hardcore and acid house with its feeling of optimism and a new found freedom. Vocal snippets of 'Life is so crazy ' and 'let you go' give the track a sense of meaning and compliment the musical elements perfectly. 'Falling (Kulture Remix)': On the flipside we have a remix by fellow Disfigured Dubz artist Kulture. He's obviously picked up on the hardcore vibe and pushed it even further in that direction by adding an amen which automatically makes it sound like a lost hit from the early 90s. Beefing up the bass line and more vocal processing turns the original calm inducing track into an absolute dance floor destroyer but without over complicating it. An interesting insight into how dubstep could be taking dance music full circle."
Artist:
YOUANDEWAN
Title:
Youandme (on My Mind)/Zeal
Label:
DISFIGURED DUBZ (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.50
Catalog #:
DISF 013EP
"Next for Disfigured Dubz is the debut single from Leeds based producer Youandewan. The story goes that one day whilst relaxing by the pool in Ibiza, Ewan's manager played some of his demos on the soundsystem with Skream in company and he was gripped, two tracks were signed to Disfigured Dubz and here they are. A: 'Youandme (On my mind)' harks back to the days when 2 Step garage ruled the London airwaves and gives a nostalgic look back to the pre-dubstep revolution. A crackling warm Rhodes loop and atmospheric field recordings warm the cones whilst vocal snippets creep in and float amongst the classic 2 step beats. Tension builds, temperatures rise and the bass blows like a cool breeze on a summer's afternoon."
