This is Copenhagen-based producer Mikkel Meldgaard's (aka Mikkel Metal) third full-length release, and second for Echochord. Mikkel started his music career more than 10 years ago as a guitarist in various noise-rock bands. In the mid-'90s his focus changed to electronic music, inspiration coming primarily from breakbeat music, particularly drum'n'bass. It's during this period that gave Mikkel his nickname "Metal," due to his fondness for hard, metallic drum'n'bass cuts. Around 1999, Mikkel changed focus towards genres like click'n'cuts, IDM, techno and dub, and started releasing under the Mikkel Metal moniker. He has primarily released on Danish label Echochord and German label Kompakt: the former with a dubby, grainy sound, the latter focusing on a more melodic and 4/4-based sound. These ten brand new tracks range from 4-to-the-floor deep minimal tracks to dubby abstract ambient. Once again, Mikkel excels at bringing a modern twist to electronic dub and techno that ranks him in the same league of such luminaries as Deadbeat, Vladislav Delay, Pole and Maurizio.

The Echocord label is proud to announce the debut full-length by Germany's Quantec aka Sven Schienhammer. When he was 15, he bought his first pair of synthesizers (a Roland MC 505 and an MC 303) and some effects modules. At first (1995-1998), he started off making ambient and pieces in the spirit of early dub techno, in the footsteps of artists like Porter Ricks and labels like Mille Plateaux, as well as more experimental realms. As his knowledge expanded, so, too, did his collection of equipment, and he was able to finally bring forth the music he always wanted to make. His greatest love is ambient, dub techno, deep house and experimental, as well as original dub and roots reggae. Music is all about emotion and it is from these genres that, for him, emotion flows. This is a must-have album for the fans of dub-techno and ambient.

"Behind the name Lowfour is Sweden's Andreas Tilliander. In the past he's released several albums as Andreas Tilliander, Mokira, Rechord and Komp. He produces everything from minimal and introvert soundscapes, ambient and music that is often compared to R&B and Hiphop. The Force Inc sister-label Force Lab released a 12" by Lowfour in the summer of 2001. Since then Andreas has been focusing on other aliases and materials but now it's time for a new Lowfour release. The material was mostly recorded in 2001 but re-recorded and remixed in 2002 to fit the Echocord style. This is dark and ambient techno with lots of elements from dub music."

This is Copenhagen-based producer Mikkel Meldgaard's (aka Mikkel Metal) fourth full-length release, and third for the Echochord label. Peaks And Troughs contains 11 brand new tracks by Mikkel, and four of them contain vocals by Paul St. Hilaire. On this album, Mikkel works with a vocalist for the first time, and it has always been his wish to do something with Paul St. Hilaire. Paul St. Hilaire, formerly known as Tikiman from The Caribbean Island, now lives in Berlin and is known from his own label False Tuned, and many, many productions with labels such as Rhythm & Sound, Burial Mix and Mainstreet. On Peaks And Troughs, Mikkel presents his own unique style of dub -- dark, seductive, and sometimes gritty, with the same measured and atmospheric attention to beats consistent with his previous releases. The stellar vocals by Paul St. Hilaire seem more than a natural fit and a higher-level commitment to deep dubness for which Mikkel Metal is most worthy.

2004 release, repressed! "Rod Modell began making electronic music in the early 80's, after being influenced by the 'industrial' music scene. 'Bands' such as SPK, Human Head Transplant, Psychic TV, and Hafler Trio were Rod's initial influences, but he soon grew tired of the harshness of this genera, and pursued softer noises. Rod composed many ambient projects during this 'soft noise' period. In the late 90's, Rod co-founded Deepchord Records in Detroit as an outlet for his 'dirty' minimal tracks, and continues to produce music for this label."

"Mikkel Metal is back on Echocord with two tracks called 'Sprang' and 'Dubhal'. Both tracks have been released in the year 2000 on the German label Hal9000. Now Mikkel has done new versions of the tracks with vocoders and synths. 'Sprang' is a more unusual track by Mikkel with electro beats and vocoders, perfect for the dancefloor, while 'Dubhal' is a more traditional dubby Mikkel Metal track. Ars Deco's real name is Rafal Sygowski born 1977 in Poland. This is his first release on Echocord with the track 'Indiglio'. Its a dubby techno-track, which will please the dancefloors. DJ Daniel is also a new artist on Echocord. Daniel lives in Copenhagen and has been one of the leading producers and DJ's for years here in Copenhagen. 'On Lock' is a 4 to the floor track with lots of reggae and dub elements."

"Echocord are proud to announce a new project called D.P. by Scott Monteith & Stefan Betke aka Deadbeat & Pole. Stefan & Scott are two of the pioneers of modern dubby sounds, and the result is amazing. Deadbeat from Montreal/Canada has appeared on a huge range of labels and compilations such as the Canadian label Revolver and the Berlin label Scape...reinvented the aural trademarks of dub in an almost cinematic framework. Currently residing in New York, South African ex-pat Brendon Moeller has been producing electronic music since 1993, which is when he purchased his first drum machine. He records as Beat Pharmacy for Francois K's Deep Space Media imprint and as Echologist for Mule Musiq and Kingstreet Records. For his debut outing on Echocord he has created two tracks of lush minimal dub-techno that are a must for fans of the genre. Both tracks are equally strong and feature warm reverb-soaked synths and dubbed out psychedelic basslines that are reminiscent of the more soothing and hypnotic side of the Basic Channel, Deep Chord and Pole.
