FIGURE 011EP
"Having released his first records on Mule Electronic, Wave Tec and Versatile, Tony Lionni is one of the most exciting newcomers of 2008. Fusing the subtlety of Detroit Techno with an overwhelming euphoria, the three tracks on his new record for Figure might be his most outstanding effort so far. As a recording artist he is a newcomer - as a DJ he has been well-respected in Manchester's underground club scene for quite some time. Spinning rare groove, salsa and deephouse records, Lionni's profound knowledge of the history of black music makes his techno tracks so striking and soulful. It is the kind of club music that manages to merge the memory of bygone in its straight techno grooves."

FIGURE 014EP
"Chymera's Figure 10 was an essential record of summer 2008. And yet Chymera has already composed another techno anthem, 'Sumatra.' To integrate opponent qualities is Chymera's key talent: He manages to fuse boldness with a subtle beauty. Grown up in the Irish town of Cork, Brendan Gregoriy has recently relocated to Barcelona: Actually, 'Sumatra' combines the emotional deepness of the Irish sentiment with the elegance and the beauty of the Mediterranean capital. Chymera builds his grooves like immovable monuments destined to remain with you for quite some time. While the implicitness is the main quality of the grooves, the sublimity of the melodies let the dancers hold their breath: They create cathedral made of sound. Chymera's partner in crime is Deetron from Bern in Switzerland. Being regarded as one of the most inspired producers operating at the threshold of tribalistic and Detroit techno, his remix is an immediate processing of the elements that make 'Sumatra' so special. Deetron moves the focus from the melodies to the grooves, adding a soulful dynamic vibe to the track. This record reveals two visions of the imaginary island of 'Sumatra': one more exciting and seducing than the other!"

FIGURE 016EP
"Two key players of the scene join forces on Figure's sixteenth release. No one else than Adam Beyer and Luke Slater contribute tracks to this very special EP. 'MOD' by Luke Slater's Planetary Assault Systems project takes off with a fast, breathless groove. Its force drags the dancers along, and the mesmerizing bleeps put everybody in a deep trance. Within seconds, the solid ground of the dancefloor is nothing but a remote memory. 'MOD' has a very special aura, it is hard to grasp its exceptional energy. It appears to be pretty elementary, and yet it is an overwhelming techno anthem which will accompany you for quite some time. Adam Beyer's 'Simulated Usage' surprises the crowd with its elegance and subtlety. Forming an irresistible funk, the fabric of the track interweaves various tiny elements. This savageness obviously manifests in his musical approach which can be characterized by his open-mindedness in regard to diverse influences, currents and styles. 'Simulated Usage' is strong and joyful, it is techno in its best sense. Once again, Adam Beyer and Luke Slater manage to coin the face of contemporary club music."

Black Out

FIGURE 019EP
"Having already supplied one deadly shipment of total floor quakers in the form of his last EP,
Figure 13
, and of course the bass-storm that was his remix of Julien Jeweil's 'My Cat' (Figure 18), Japan's A.Mochi returns to Figure. Delivering a fresh cargo of irrepressible, surging rhythms,
Figure 19
is a powerful and cooly defined effort, affirming this promising producer 's gargantuan talents. Simple, stripped and effective, 'Black Out' packages only a handful of superbly placed sounds into a tough, post-tribal groovetool that expands effortlessly over a full 9 minutes. Mochi's trademark thunderous bass energies work in unison with tricky percussion patterns and teasing, rewarding moments of tension, building to rapturous explosions of static electricity! 'Brunt' goes further into Mochi's deep-rolling, intense bass world, this time coupling the urgent, reduced percussion with thick room filling metallic stabs that might have been forged from the molten depths of techno's very core. That's not to say it's a scary ride however, as the pure funk and drive will lift your hands up and make your heart race."

"The 20th release of Len Faki's Figure label is ready to hit the shelves in the form of a modern electronic powerhouse. Featuring two of the techno scene's most respected production forces, Slam and Rejected provide the goods in this split artist double-header. Figure 20 is truly set to rock! The fabled duo Slam, of Soma records fame, are a household name when it comes to forward thinking, emotional and cutting edge techno. Rocking clubs with their new wave of productions, and their fledgling Paragraph label, the pair look to freakier, darker corners of the dancefloor with their mighty 'Dead Dog Bounce.' Words simply cannot describe the sheer unstoppable energy that flows from this monstrous work...! Surging, hi-tech rhythms drive an intense building rollercoaster of a track that's perfect for the biggest dancefloors. Pitching, climbing, hissing and rolling towards an almighty slab of bass, this is the sound of Slam at their most devastating!"

FIGURE 021EP
"The next installment of body-massaging future techno is ready and waiting as we proudly announce Figure 21 by Alan Fitzpatrick. UK based Fitzpatrick, whose productions for his own 8 Sided Dice label, Drumcode and more have sealed his reputation for tough, funky and high-tech dancefloor workouts has created an EP that oozes quality and production finesse. Alan throws us a treat with this 12'', kicking off the show with 'Weed Killer' -- a rolling, irresistibly bass-heavy nod to the tougher end of the dub-techno spectrum. Shuffling, shaking percussion and dynamic, modulating hook lines fly in and out of this spacy groover with total funk, attitude and sound precision. Flip the slab over and you'll find the equally heavy 'Science' ready to push things further. Intense bass pressure and a proto-Chicago jack combine in this stylish warehouse jam. Sharp, glistening highs sit atop a treasure-chest of chunky percussion, complex funky micro-hooks and that ever-present Fitzpatrick dancefloor attitude!"

FIGURE 022EP
"Italian dance music legend Santos has been producing electronic music since the early nineties, having already hit the buzz charts many times with international bombs all over the shop! Truly a gem of the house and techno world, and fresh from a new wave of studio time, the much in demand producer hurls us over a very special new treat. 'Llama Inesperada' fuses slick modern production, tight, bass heavy beats and an unstoppable hypnotic vibe that really encapsulates everything powerful about modern, reduced club music. Slow building, teasing and tension-loaded, '...Inseperada' leads us head first into an overwhelming, unbelievable break that is guaranteed to leave the big rooms in raptures. Heavy, heavy work from Santos and another surefire A&R insight from label boss Len Faki. The package is completed with the addition of a remix by Parisian rising star Paul Ritch, known for his releases on Dubfire's Sci+Tec imprint or his own Quartz label. Re-working Santos' original into a gigantic, rolling techno masterpiece, Ritch has really outdone himself on this one. Totally club-friendly, even the epic breakdown has been translated to fit seamlessly into the intense techno-house-jungle-drum journey, and we're pretty sure you won't be disappointed with the outcome!"

RODRIGUES, BENNY
Title:
Fake Stab
Label:
FIGURE (GERMANY)
Format:

Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
FIGURE 023EP
"Rotterdam's Benny Rodrigues is already a well known force in the Dutch techno fraternity. His releases on Be As One and Spinclub have cemented his tough, modern-meets old school take on dancefloor techno as some of the grooviest around. 'Fake Stab,' co-produced with Kapuchon, is a spacy roller that revolves around classic Detroit-influenced stab action, floating on top of a bass heavy and pumping bottom end. Tight, crisp and clearly designed for the floor, its a cool trip full of tricky percussion and immense bass pressure (what else would you expect from Figure!) Taking us back into the realms of the masters, 'Woest' is a real burner. Tough, raw and uncompromising, it's a stomping stab-jack like no other. Reminiscent of a certain Mr Hood's punchy warehouse jams, it's filled with the type of purist techno intensity that makes it totally irresistible in the club and beyond."

LOST VETERANOS
Title:
It's Wrong/It's Wronger
Label:
FIGURE (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
FIGURE 026EP
"The unstoppable combination of Timo Maas and Santos throw us another huge double header under their 'Lost Veteranos' guise. After their last old-school adventure as 'Mutant Clan' on Figure SPC, the pair crank up the vintage machinery and hand over two unbelievable new cuts. 'It's Wrong' is a stampeding, strong tripping techno cut that maniacally revolves around pushing bass signals, sparse percussion and building levels of dancefloor madness characterized by the unnerving vocal motif. Lashings of delay drenched FX fills and gyrating moments of tension. The almost unbelievable 'It's Wronger' takes the intensity to an even more disturbed place as freaky filtered warbles and off-world FX clank and grind behind an ungodly acid hook. Once again we are assured 'It's Wrong', and this time it's even harder to ignore! Two psychotic techno offerings that confirm the pure talent and tireless devotion of these two veteran producers; Viva Lost Veteranos!"
