This is the debut full-length release by Philadelphia's Sean O'Neal (aka Someone Else), following several acclaimed EPs. "Collectively, they find great pleasure in gathering field recordings and found sounds, and then transforming them into some sort of idiosyncratic, conceptual techno. Foundsound-01 (Rip It Cookie Muenster EP) was the duo's debut release, and it garnered an ass-load of recognition for their new label, Foundsound. The couple returns with two dancefloor crushers that carry a soulful undertone while fueled predominantly by snippy samples of gullah vocals from USA's southern region. On the A-side -- 'Dee Gullah Go-Go' -- some funky-ass minimal house carries you through a collage of squeaky photo copy machines, ringing cell phones, clickity-clackity percussion, stabbing synths, along with brilliantly sliced and diced female vocals both spoken and sung -- causing your heart to bounce merrily around your chest until your slithery body is forced uncontrollably onto its feet. While still being just as druggy and reverb-heavy as other tracks that you may know from these two producers, this one offers a Chicago house undercurrent while remaining experimentally abstract and guaranteed to make a packed dancefloor scream. The B-side -- 'No Catfish (Whoop Whoop)' -- offers a tracky DJ tool for minimal techno DJs with a loopy, sub-heavy bassline and a snappy snare. This is another drugged-out crowd-pleaser to say the least."
