Artist: BUTTRICH, MARTIN
Title: Well Done
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: FOUR 028EP
"2006 has been a busy year for Martin Buttrich, another Depeche Mode remix for Timo Maas and tracks with Loco Dice on Cadenza, M-nus and Ovum. 'Well Done.' It's deep and beautiful as the majority of Martin's work is and to compliment Serafin (Cadenza/Mountainpeople) has remixed with awesome effect. The original is hypnotic, full of minimal sexy tones, deep pulsating bass and quirky grooves whilst the original is an epic journey of two halves, techno fueled dry drum minimal fusing into an uplifting beautiful chord progression."

Artist: TG
Title: The Remixes
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: FOUR 029EP
"Last year's two Four:twenty TG releases get the remix treatment for 2007, the package takes on some proper old school house sounds. On the a-side Martin's remix of 'Rhythm Acupuncture' is deep, warm & rolling techno, typically subtle using warm jazzy keys & funky grooving bass, with a definite nod towards acid house. Two of the UK's most up-and-coming young electronic producers Matt Tolfrey (Leftroom) & B-Pole (Inxec/Contexterrior) collaborate to remix TGs 'You Aint Got Time To Think,' turning in an epic old skool techno remix. Beautiful electronic dance music."

Artist: MOWBRAY & LEIAM SULLIVAN, JAMES
Title: Lost In The Tropics
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: FOUR 030EP
"UK-based Four:Twenty continue their 2007 release schedule with this huge release from James Mowbray & Leiam Sullivan, Lost In The Tropics. A slow burning, bass-heavy groover with steadily rising keys and oddball electronic fx, 'Lost In The Tropics' is an essential house track which will more than satisfy the countless supporters of the duo's previous release on Four:Twenty. Known for drafting in the finest remixers, Four:Twenty do not disappoint with their current choice of artist, Matthias Tanzmann. With releases on Dessous, Poker Flat and his much-lauded Moon Harbour imprint, he is the toast of underground house music and techno and turns in a suitably wonderful, subtle house groove."

Artist: TG
Title: Cave The Speakers
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: FOUR 031EP
"One of the UK's finest labels serve up yet another bomb for you. This time around, it's TG with 'Cave The Speakers.' As always with Four:Twenty, you get a splendid remix also -- this time from Wagon Repair's Konrad Black. He's delivered a warm but edgy groove which will please house, techno and (dare we say it) 'minimal' DJs alike."

Artist: BUTTRICH, MARTIN
Title: Well Done Remixes
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: FOUR 032EP
"Four:Twenty get dub-fuelled remixes of a techno classic by Bristol's H.E.N.C.H Collective. Four:Twenty are the latest in techno labels to cross over with up-and-coming dubstep producers. Martin Buttrich's 'Well Done' gets the remix treatment from Bristol's own Papa Ench & Headhunter."

Artist: TORRANCE & PHILIP HOCHSTRATE, CRAIG
Title: Shrinkage
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: FOUR 033EP
"Craig Torrance & Philip Hochstrate are Four:Twenty's freshest new signing. Their first co-production spawns a deep tech house record that doesn't come any more emotive or sultry. 'Shrinkage' was inspired by lost afternoons raving as the sunset to inspirational DJs at DC10. 'Shrinkage' is precision-cut to suit the deep, emotive sun-kissed vibes of an evening on an Ibizan terrace as the melodies build into a lush, epic crescendo. 'Shrinkage' has been given a rework by Samim, one of the underground's hottest remixers right now, who takes the track off-road with a tense, quirky retake on the original. The haunting riffs of the original holster a rocking funk-fuelled groove that peaks with a mind-blowing breakdown before drowning the dancefloor in a bath of sub-bass."

Artist: MOWBRAY & LEIAM SULLIVAN, JAMES
Title: Tropical Heights
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: FOUR 034EP
"One of the strongest Four:Twenty releases so far. 'Absolutely wicked' -- says Claude VonStroke. The warm, deep and epic original speaks of new hope for a slowly dying earth over immense sub-bass frequencies. Ink & Needle give up hope and show how the end of the world will sound if you don't listen to the message on side A."

Artist: TWO ARMADILLOS
Title: Butterfly Bee
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: FOUR 035EP
"Following on from James Mowbray & Leiam Sullivan's essential Tropical Heights release, Bristol-based Four:Twenty return with a label debut from Giles Smith and Martin Dawson's Two Armadillos project. A recent EP for Steve Bug's Dessous set the stall out for their intricate placing of techno influences on a deep house template, and the Butterfly Bee EP only serves to further refine the formula. Meanwhile, the remix is supplied by Andomat 3000 and Jan, who recently released the rather superb L Delay on Chilean supremo Luciano's Cadenza imprint. They condense the original progression into a tight, leisurely groove, with percussion and FX constantly snaking in and out of the mix -- the perfect foil to the original mix."

Artist: MOWBRAY & D. RAMIREZ, JAMES
Title: Time Fades Away
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.50
Catalog #: FOUR 036EP
"Four:Twenty round off another impressive year with this final collaboration between D. Ramirez and James Mowbray, Time Fades Away. 'Time Fades Away' sees the pair combine vocals, mind-bending synth work and the phenomenal production Ramirez is known for with Mowbray's trademark tight grooves and more restrained approach to create a dancefloor bomb. As always with Four:Twenty, the choice of remixer is impeccable and this time we're treated to Leipzig-based Daniel Stefanik. Known for his dub-infused deep house and techno on Moon Harbour, Liebe*Detail and his own Cargo Edition, Stefanik has turned in a stunning mix and dub for the deeper floors. Detroit meets Germany via Chicago sums it up nicely!"

Artist: SOLOMUN
Title: Beauty & The Beast
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.50
Catalog #: FOUR 037EP
"Four:Twenty present another landmark release that displays this imprint's uncanny ability to back a winner every time. This particular winner is none other than Solomun, who has served up his finest work yet in three outstanding tracks for the UK-based imprint. Lead cut 'Deadman' is an anthem of a track in a time when anthems are few and far between. Rising, Detroit keys layer up with rich strings atop a warm, organic drum track creating a fluid deep houser which is head and shoulders above the crowd."

Artist: ANDOMAT 3000
Title: BND2
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.50
Catalog #: FOUR 038EP
"Despite being only two years old, Andreas Wiegland's Andomat 3000 project has seen him record for Cadenza, Safari Electronique, Morris Audio and Platzhirsch Schallplaten. He has also won fans such as Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Jimpster and Sebo K for his organic and subtly jazz infused house workouts. 'BND2' sums up the playful and eclectic vibe of Andomat 3000. Shuffling shakers, jazz snares and a superbly funky upright-bass all play off each other to create a distinctive floor burning groove of the highest order. Never the slackers on the remix front, Four:Twenty have drafted in both Kiki and Freaks man Luke Solomon for reinterpretations."

Artist: TWO ARMADILLOS
Title: Patience
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: FOUR 039EP
"In just a handful of releases, Giles Smith and Martin Dawson's Two Armadillo's project has become synonymous with quality house. A ten minute exercise in subtle, restrained deep house with true emotion, 'Patience' uses overlaid strings and synths, uncluttered percussion and warm pianos to tell a story which can only end in a sense of well being and the onset of summer. This really is a special piece of music. Saul and Cooper have stamped their own style on the track by toughening the drums, teasing the melodies and adding their own inimitable electronic flourishes to their mix."

Artist: CLASS 71
Title: Seaphone
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: FOUR 040EP
"Just when you've about to run out of cliché's about the impeccable run of releases Four:Twenty has delivered this year, the Bristol-based label serve up yet another stunning package. After releases from heavy hitters such as Two Armadillos, Solomun and Andomat3000, the mantle now falls to new boy Class 71 with his double A-side 'Seaphone'/'Diamond Door.' Well, it would do if he was really the new boy, but he's not. In fact, this new artist is an alias of Italian producer Santos, who has pretty much done it all in house, techno and every other genre we could lazily list. Here, he's hit otherworldly form by plowing his love and passion of deep house, Detroit and Chicago. 'Seaphone' takes the lead with a beautifully simple exercise in drums, FM bass and chords, which really does sound special. The toast of Drumpoet Society, Quarion, twists and tweaks the track into the wonderful vision of house music that is making him so hot right now. Rounding things off with a respectful nod to classic techno via moody stabs, lazy melodies and an airtight arrangement in the form of 'Diamond Door,' it seems like Class 71 is a bit of a name to watch. Don't take our word for it though, Amé, Sasse, Djinxx and Agnés are already backing this winner."

Artist: SOLOMUN
Title: International Hustle
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: FOUR 041EP
"Croatian-German Solomun returns with yet another winner in the form of 'International Hussle' / 'Explicit.' The futuristic dub-stylings of 'International Hussle' get things going with a bang on this double-A release. Urgent, clicking hi-hats ride a wave of undulating bass tones and bubbling lead lines before trademark string builds give way to a 303 line which screams 'warehouse' at the top of its acidic voice. The dubby themes are continued in more laid back fashion with 'Explicit,' a heady deep house groove with subtle, pleasing melodies and an overall vibe which oozes sunshine and summer. With material like this on Four:Twenty as well as output for Dessous and his own Diynamic, Solomun is already regarded as one of the hottest talents around so do not miss out. On the subject of vigilance, keep your eyes peeled for material from Glimpse, James Mowbray, Andomat3000 and a raft of new talents forthcoming on Four:Twenty throughout the summer months. As always, the quality is as high as it gets."

Artist: TOMOKI & NONO
Title: Voices/3 Years
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: FOUR 042EP
"Unearthing fresh talent and making the most out of them is a running theme with Bristol's Four:Twenty and they've done it again with new signings, Tomoki & Nono, and their Voices/3 Years release. Japanese born DJ Tomoki Tamura has become a permanent fixture of the London club scene, playing just about every underground party and afterhours as well as running his hugely successful Holic night at Aka/The End. His techy, deep style and ability to craft a set have won him plaudits from just about every 'name' in London and he's already being touted by some as the next Jamie Jones or Matthew Styles. The results of this pairing are two tracks of intricate techno, 'Voices' and '3 Years.' The former tips a nod to Chicago with a jacking bassline but it's fluid atmospherics and oddball vocal samples really make this track stand out as a brilliant example of forward thinking dance music. The latter takes a direct route to the dancefloor with 808 drums and fluttering toplines providing the perfect foil to the killer bassline which forces the tune forward."

Artist: GLIMPSE
Title: We Existed
Label: FOUR:TWENTY (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: FOUR 043EP
"With frankly amazing singles on his own Glimpse Recordings and Matt Tolfrey's Leftroom earlier this year, 2007 is shaping up to be one hell of a year for Christopher Spero aka house/techno prodigy Glimpse. Here, he delivers his debut for the UK-based bastion of quality that is Four:Twenty with a superb collaboration with critically acclaimed Taka Boom (sister of Chaka Khan) in the form of We Existed. Another great UK talent, Tom Demac is first to remix 'We Existed' and does so in fine style. It's plain to see why so many labels of note are requesting releases from Tom on first listen to his skillful, deep and dubby excursion into Detroit-inspired house. Jay Shepheard, not to be outdone, turns in two remixes for the package. His 'Alternative Remix' is up first and is a driving affair with a percussive punch and nagging FM chords providing the perfect base for Taka's vocals and some well-placed keys. The 'Main Rmx' from Compost man Shepheard carries on the mantle of quality with a decidedly more electronic and epic feel: a shrinking violet this is not."
