Artist: PERRY & THE UPSETTERS, LEE 'SCRATCH'
Title: Blackboard Jungle Dub
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 50756CD
"A classic album from the Upsetter himself, the incomparable Lee 'Scratch' Perry, receives the proper remastered release it deserves from the reissue masters at Get On Down. Previous releases of Blackboard Jungle Dub were either poor quality or only available in box-sets, but now the album is finally presented in high quality digital audio and packaged in a paste-on mini-LP jacket featuring the original album artwork. Widely considered the first full-length dub LP, Blackboard Jungle Dub pairs Perry with another Jamaican legend -- engineer King Tubby -- and embodies the Upsetter's loose, instinctive sonic approach, with instrumentals stripped down to the bare elements and then brilliantly reassembled as only he can do. Standouts include 'Dreamland Dub,' 'Dub From Africa' and 'Moving Forward.' Another superb reissue that underscores Get On Down's commitment to high quality releases."

Artist: KING TUBBY
Title: Meets Rockers Uptown
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 50758CD
"Within any musical style, there are a few select works that resonate so strongly with audiences that they come to define the genre itself, taking on a mythical quality that transforms the album into something greater than the sum of its individual parts. Meets Uptown Rockers, the 1976 collaboration between producer instrumentalist Augustos Pablo and visionary dub engineer Osbourne 'King Tubby' Ruddock, is one of those historic releases. The album, which features Pablo playing melodica, clavinet, piano and organ, contains some of the greatest dub songs of all time, including Jacob Miller's 'Baby I Love You So,' and the darkly seductive title track. The chemistry between Pablo's beautiful 'Far East' signature sound and King Tubby's meticulous attention to sonic detail results in an album the Virgin Encyclopedia of Reggae says is 'regarded by many as one of the greatest dub albums of all time.' Though previously released by different labels with various track listings, Get On Down's reissue of Meets Rockers Uptown is the definitive edition of dub's definitive album, featuring audio mastered from the original analog tapes and packaged in a paste-on mini-LP slip case in a clear plastic poly bag."

Artist: PABLO, AUGUSTUS
Title: Ital Dub
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 50759CD
"By the time he released Ital Dub in 1975, Augustus Pablo was already a household name in Jamaica. He was fresh off the success of his album Rebel Rock Reggae, and about to enter the most prolific period of his career with legendary dub engineer King Tubby, this being their first collaboration. Recorded and mixed by Tubby at his studio, Ital Dub, produced by Tommy Cowan and Warwick Lyn, features Pablo lending his signature melodica work to originals ('Eli's Move,' 'Shake Up') and covers from Bob Marley ('Rebel Music,' 'Natty Dread'), Peter Tosh ('Funeral') and Junior Byles ('Curly Locks,' 'Irie Feelings'). Overlooked at the time of its initial release, Ital Dub has since been recognized as a worthy entry in Pablo's stellar catalog and 'one of the most innovative albums of the decade' (AllMusic.com). After producing top quality reissues from Lee 'Scratch' Perry and King Tubby, Get On Down is proud to present another Jamaican dub classic, featuring a new digital audio transfer from the original analog tapes." Packaged in a paste-on mini-LP jacket with die cut obi strip and dust sleeve.

Artist: D-NICE
Title: Call Me D-Nice
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: GET 51271CD
"When Boogie Down Productions' DJ/producer/hypeman D-Nice went solo in 1990, the world wasn't quite sure what to expect. Taking over as KRS-One's DJ after Scott La Rock's murder in 1987, D-Nice was a relative unknown, despite having played a part in the group's classic albums By All Means Necessary and the follow-up Edutainment. Setting out to make his name as an independent artist, he delivered Call Me D-Nice, an album that abandoned BDP's militant political rhetoric in favor of a fun, upbeat attitude that played to his strengths: witty and boastful rhymes backed by funky, sample-based beats. The album yielded a #1 hit with the title track (along with 'Crumbs On the Table', which made the Top 20) and proved that D-Nice could do much more than just play the background. Out of print for over 20 years, D-Nice's debut album Call Me D-Nice returns in an expanded edition housed in a 6-panel digipak featuring original and extended artwork with liner notes for the bonus cuts written by Noah Uman. Extended Audio includes 2 non-album cuts (produced by Scott La Rock) as well as 12" mixes and instrumentals previously unavailable on CD format. Also includes the 12" singles 'Glory' and 'The TR 808 Is Coming.'"

Artist: KHEMISTRY
Title: Khemistry
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51272CD
"One year before Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones created Thriller, there was Khemistry. The Washington, D.C.-based boogie-funk trio only managed one release during their time at Columbia Records, but their self-titled 1982 album remains a revered classic of the genre. Under the guidance of producers Willie Lester and Rodney Brown, Khemistry created a pop masterpiece, powered by infectious dance grooves ('Can You Feel My Love') and soulful ballads ('There's No Me Without You'). A rare and highly sought after record by collectors, Khemistry's landmark album is now available in a fresh, properly licensed pressing."

Artist: IRVINE, WELDON
Title: Cosmic Vortex (Justice Divine)
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51273CD
"By 1974, 31 year-old Weldon Irvine was ready for the next phase of his career. Having spent years working variously as a pianist, band leader, composer, arranger and road manager with the likes of Joe Henderson and Nina Simone, his breakout moment as a solo artist finally came in 1974, when he signed with RCA Records. Finally backed with a budget that could match his ambitions, Irvine's first release was Cosmic Vortex, a sprawling, monumental work that embodied a musician at the height of his powers. The result is an album that molds his jazz instincts for free-form improvisation to fit a deep funk aesthetic, but also matched with strong, spiritual lyrics. He went on to release two more albums with RCA that continued to build on themes established here. Get On Down is proud to present the remastered version of Cosmic Vortex, featuring a dazzling new digital audio transfer from the original analog tapes."

Artist: IRVINE, WELDON
Title: Sinbad
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51274CD
"In 1976, jazz keyboardist Weldon Irvine was in a transitional phase of his career. Having spent years as Nina Simone's band leader, he had developed into a full-formed, mature musician by the early 70s, creating a sound that combined modern jazz, soul, funk and blues with an underlying social and spiritual consciousness. Sinbad , his last ever album for a major label, marked the high point of that period. Mixing original songs with covers by Marvin Gaye ('What's Goin' On') and Stevie Wonder ('Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing'), Irvine led an exemplary group of players--guitarist Eric Bale, saxophonist Michael Brecker and a breakout performance by pianist Don Blackman, who also supplied vocals--on an ambitious, intricate musical journey that's both technically brilliant and emotionally striking. Afterwards, Irvine found further success in writing musical stage productions, leaving Sinbad as one of his final--and greatest--recordings. Get On Down is proud to present Weldon Irvine's masterpiece Sinbad as it was intended to be experienced, with a beautiful new digital transfer from the original analog tapes."

Artist: IRVINE, WELDON
Title: Spirit Man
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51275CD
"Marking this the third reissue from the late Weldon Irvine's critically revered catalog following 'Sinbad' and 'Cosmic Vortex', Get On Down proudly presents Spirit Man, Weldon's fifth full length studio album and arguably his most complete. Spirit Man features a balanced fusion of deep and funky jazz grooves interlaced with heavy keyboard work and shifting electronic elements. Weldon's intense instrumental arrangements transport the audience to an extraterrestrial landscape of infectious rhythm and mold smashing soundscapes. Get On Down is proud to present Weldon Irvine's classic Spirit Man as it was intended to be experienced, with a beautiful new digital transfer from the original analog tapes and packaged in a full color digipak case."

Artist: BLACK ROCK & RON
Title: Stop The World
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51276CD
"Hailing from Hollis Queens (and well influenced by their neighbors, RUN-DMC), Lord Black, the Ruler Master Rock, and Ron Scratch released their first single Hard Rap on Next Plateau in 1986 under the name the Vicious Four. Released during the emergence of the 'new school' where samplers and drum machines such as the Lynn Drum and the SP-12 hit the market, producers and hip-hop artists were better able to create a less expensive and more complex structure to tracks that wasn't previously available without having connections or a backing band. The era of loop heavy samples and drum breaks were upon us. Get On Down in conjunction with Sony Music presents this dusty gem repackaged with an extended booklet featuring vintage never seen-promo photography, the first interview with all 3 members in over 20 years, a reprint of vintage HHC magazine cover story feature and Testimonial quotes from likes of Russell Simmons, Tragedy Khadafi and Uncle Ralph McDaniels."

Artist: WORRELL, BERNIE
Title: All The Woo In The World
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51277CD
"As important as his own musical contributions were, a large part of George Clinton's legacy lies within his ability to nurture and develop talent; along with Bootsy Collins and Garry Shider, keyboardist Bernie Worrell is amongst the most accomplished of Clinton's various proteges. Having joined Funkadelic in 1970, Worrell would become a stable of any and all P-funk projects for the next decade and in 1978 he struck out on his own with All the Woo in the World. Anchored by the epic 12-minute jam 'Insurance Man For the Funk,' the album shows an artist eager to put his personal stamp on the sound he helped develop alongside Clinton, who co-wrote several of the tracks. Worrell takes the lead on vocals and keys, crafting bouncy cuts in the vein of Funkadelic ('Woo Together') and also slower, more vocal-driven songs like 'I'll Be Here.' Worrell would go on to play extensively with the Talking Heads in the 1980s and was eventually inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, yet his debut record remains an enduring chapter in his storied legacy. After being out of print for 20 years, Get On Down is proud to present this rare, classic record as it was intended to be heard, with a new audio transfer direct from the original master tapes and packaged in a four-panel digipak."

Artist: BYRD, GARY
Title: The Gary Byrd Experience
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51280CD
"Having been a close collaborator with Stevie Wonder for years, 1972's Gary Byrd Experience represents the talented musician's opportunity to step into the spotlight with his own group. Best known as a DJ working at New York station WWRL, Byrd's relationship with Wonder began in the '60s and continued through Wonder's prolific years in the next decade, when he helped co-write 'Black Man' and 'Ghetto Village Land.' Stepping out on his own with this album, Byrd's work sparkles with funky R&B flavors and early hip-hop influences. With a message of black empowerment, Byrd created slick, catchy songs like 'Black is So Beautiful' and 'Shining Black Prince' that featured him delivering spoken-word raps over the music a la Gil Scott-Heron and The Last Poets. Record collectors and hip-hop heads will also recognize the two-part track 'Soul Traveling,' an ode to Byrd's contemporaries like Curtis Mayfield and Al Green, which was famously sampled by Large Professor for Nas' debut single 'Halftime' in 1992. In continuing their efforts to provide the best in high quality reissues of rare and important albums, Get On Down is proud to present The Gary Byrd Experience for the first time ever on CD, brought to life in brilliant stereo sound as it was intended to be heard. An essential addition to any soul/funk lover's music library."

Artist: SWEAT BAND
Title: Sweat Band
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51285CD
"Nothing fueled the 70s funk revolution quite like George Clinton's massive musical collective known as Parliament-Funkadelic. One of the main contributors to the P-Funk sound was Cincinnati native and former JB's member Bootsy Collins. Literally, there would be no Mothership without Bootsy, aka Bootzilla, a true monster on the bass. 1980s Sweat Band was originally envisioned to be the 5th release from Bootsy Collin's funktacular Rubber Band. But somehow Bootsy lost the rights to the Rubber Band name to, of all things, a folk act. But rest assured, though the name may be slightly different, all the funk is intact. For this outing Bootsy's background with James Brown and as a major contributor to the Parliament Funkadelic family are in full effect. Players on the project include Michael Hampton and Garry Shider on guitar, Bernie Worrell on the keys, as well as a horn line comprising Fred Wesley, Richard Griffith and Maceo Parker. And being that this is a full-fledged P-Funk outing, George Clinton himself is Executive Producer. Anchoring the entire project, the amazing bass work of the one and only Bootsy Collins."

Artist: MONTENEGRO, HUGO
Title: Moog Power
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51286CD
"Hugo Montenegro already had a solid and storied career under his belt before his revolutionary 1969 release Moog Power was envisioned or the first Moog synthesizer was even built. In the mid-50s he was musical director for the Dragon and Caprice imprints where he worked with Dion. He then moved on to a similar position at the legendary 'Hi Fi' imprint Time Records. Relocating to LA in the early 60s lead to a deal with RCA as well as a slew of work for film and TV including scoring two Matt Helm pics and penning the theme music to 'I Dream of Jeanie'. By the mid-60s his own work was on the vanguard of Space Age Pop. When the Moog synthesizer was first made available in the late 60s its sound was fresh and very cutting edge. The instrument itself lead to a run of Moog flavored albums that went well into the 70s, Montenegro's Moog Power being one of the first, and best, of the Moog movement. Moog Power set the standard, with synth flavored interpretations of the Doors 'Touch Me', 'Aquarius' 'Dizzy', and other hits of the day. In addition to these reinterpretations the Montenegro penned title track 'Moog Power' brought the (then) futuristic sound of the synthesizer directly into the homes of millions. Now, lovingly remastered from the original sessions, Get On Down is proud to connect Montenegro's work with a new generation of fans eager to hear analog synths or those who'd rather just mix up some cocktails and enjoy the power of the granddaddy of Moog records, Moog Power."

Artist: YOUNG, LARRY
Title: Larry Young's Fuel
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51287CD
Much-needed reissue of this landmark Larry Young album, recorded just a few years after the notorious Love Cry Want sessions that ultimately caused the downfall of the Nixon administration. "By the time Larry Young hit the studio with group Fuel to track this 1975 release he was already a seasoned jazz pro despite being in his 30s (young for jazz cat). His organ work in the 50s with Jimmy Forrest, Tommy Turrentine, Hank Mobley and others lead to being signed to Prestige as a leader and a string of incredible projects for both the Prestige and Blue Note labels throughout the 60s. His work with Tony Williams Lifetime on the 1969 album Emergency set the stage for the fusion movement even ahead of that genre's landmark release Bitches Brew (where he appeared with Miles). By the 1975 Young was signed to Arista and ready to fire up a full on 70s style jazz fusion assault with his group Fuel. The sessions found Young behind the boards as producer and behind the keyboards as a player, utilizing everything from a Mini Moog to a Hammond B3, a Fender Rhodes to a traditional acoustic piano. The resulting project is thoroughly funky and often called the absolute best of his post-Blue Note recordings. Get On Down is pleased to put this classic, remastered from the original sessions, in front of a new generation of listeners hungry for a solid groove."

Artist: P-FUNK ALL-STARS
Title: Urban Dancefloor Guerillas
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51288CD
"In terms of pure collective talent, Urban Dancefloor Guerillas, the 1983 debut recording of the P-Funk All-Stars, ranks amongst the most impressive album rosters ever assembled. True to their name, the All-Stars were comprised mainly of alumni from George Clinton's two legendary groups, Parliament and Funkadelic, including Bootsy Collins, Garry Shider, Eddie Hazel and Walter 'June' Morrison. Along with them, Clinton recruited the likes of Sly Stone, Bobby Womack, Maceo Parker and Fred Wesley for this sprawling, ambitious excursion into post-70s funk. 'Copy Cat' serves as a worthy counterpart to 'Atomic Dog,' with the familiar thick, drooping bass and layered orchestration, but Clinton and his crew also explore different musical territory, as heard on the subterranean groove of 'Hydraulic Pump' and funky doo-wop sway of 'One of Those Summers.' Despite the large collection of musicians, the album plays with a cohesiveness and contagious energy indicative of a group that's been together for years, and can be considered a true classic of the genre. In continuing their ongoing series of high quality reissues, Get On Down is proud to present the definitive reissue of P-Funk All-Stars debut Urban Dancefloor Guerillas, with a new audio transfer from the original master tapes and packaged in a six-panel digipak. Also includes two bonus tracks, 'Pumpin' It Up (Special Club Mix)' and an extended version of 'Generator Pop' previously only found on the original 12" single."

Artist: BALLIN' JACK
Title: Ballin' Jack
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51289CD
"Seattle Washington's horn rock legends, Ballin' Jack originally formed in 1969 after witnessing the success of their childhood friend blossom and then explode. Who was this childhood friend? Well none other than the one and only Jimi Hendrix. While Ballin' Jack never reached the same Olympian heights that Hendrix did, their self titled debut garnered critical acclamations and respect amongst horn rock aficionados. Most of the material from their self titled debut album was played on tour with Hendrix, when they joined him in 1970 on his 'Cry of Love' tour. Ballin' Jack scored modest mainstream success with their single 'Super Highway,' peaking at #90 on the US Billboard Singles chart. Hip hop fans will recognize Ballin' Jack for a different reason. The song 'Found A Child' was famously sampled for Young MC's enormous hit 'Bust A Move.' Get On Down is proud to present Ballin' Jack's self titled debut as it was intended to be experienced, with a beautiful new digital transfer from the original analog tapes."

Artist: CYPRESS HILL
Title: Cypress Hill
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: LP
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: GET 51293LP
"Somewhere in between the rock-star mischief of the Beastie Boys and the slow-creeping funk of Dr. Dre, Cypress Hill introduced their hazy-eyed sound to the world on their self-titled 1991 debut and things have never quite been the same since. The original Cypress Hill album captures the group at their risk-taking best, mixing gangster posturing, LA street politics, Latin flavor and warped humor to-gether under a thick cloud of weed smoke and innovative beats. Nasal-voiced rapper B-Real and his partner Sen Dog, backed by the adventurous production styles of DJ Muggs, produce classics records like 'How I Could Just Kill a Man,' 'Pigs,' 'Stoned is the Way of the Walk' and 'Hand on the Pump.' Since its release, the album has won acclaim as one of Rolling Stone's 'Essential Recordings of the 90s' and 'Top 100 Best Rap Albums' by The Source magazine. Get On Down is proud to present one of the most influential and important hip-hop albums ever, Cypress Hill, in this special red vinyl release, featuring audio remastered from the original source tapes."

Artist: WAH WAH WATSON
Title: Elementary
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 51296CD
"A Detroit native, Wah Wah Watson earned his nickname from his dominating control and precision on the Wah Wah pedal. His talents made him a highly sought after commodity throughout the funk and soul heyday of the seventies. In 1976 Wah Wah decided to take a crack at a solo career, and turned his attention toward the release of his first ever studio album, Elementary. Enlisting the help of his friends, who just so happen to be equally great and notable studio musicians, Wah Wah crafted a timeless collection of jazzy-funk grooves that was eventually found a home on Columbia Records. Unfortunately, Wah Wah's solo's career was cut short as the album received critical acclaim but was a disappointing commercial failure. Columbia did not repress Elementary and it remained out of print for decades. Now, thanks to the fine folks at Get On Down Elementary returns in an enhanced, digitally remastered format. Housed in a gatefold digipak, Elementary will be available for the first time anywhere on compact disc and first time anywhere in generations."

Though Slave continued to record into the 80s, they never again reached the heights heard on this very special album. Artist: KLEEER
Title: Intimate Connection
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 52707CD
"Listen to 80s classic funk soul like never before on Get On Down's reissue of Intimate Connection, the 1984 release by New York-based disco/funk group Kleeer. Abounding with smooth, sliding grooves, seductive lyrics, and classic 80s electro-funk synth, Intimate Connection is a classic piece that should hold a place in any music lover's collection. The album's title track not only climbed the R&B charts in 1984 but served years later as the baseline for Tupac's giant hit, 'California Love' in 1995. Woody Cunningham, the group's drummer, writer, vocalist and co-producer, sadly passed away in January of 2010, but left behind him a music repertoire that continues to hit the airwaves today. Kleeer's unforgettable funk style has been sampled further by artists such as Ice Cube and Jay Z, and Woody's lyrical talents can be found in collaborations with current hip hop songstress Alicia Keys. Intimate Connection, the group's sixth album on Atlantic Records, provides a classic and timeless snapshot of 80s funk groove. Appreciate the music of Kleeer like never before on this digitally remastered exclusive CD release." Packaged in a heavy mini-LP style cover in a dust sleeve with obi strip.

Artist: KELLY & LIFE, HERMAN
Title: Percussion Explosion!
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 52709CD
"As a group, Herman Kelly & Life had a relatively short life span. Releasing only a single album, Percussion Explosion!, in 1978, the Miami-based band didn't have as much immediate success as some of their contemporaries. But with a single, inescapable song, they managed to forever become a part of music history. Their funky, upbeat single 'Dance to the Drummer's Beat' became one of the most recognizable and frequently used breaks in hip-hop history, used in songs by legendary artists like Run-DMC, Public Enemy, N.W.A., 2 Live Crew, Whodini and DJ Shadow, and was featured in the famed Ultimate Breaks & Beats series. Get On Down is proud to present Percussion Explosion! in a newly refurbished edition, featuring 'Dance to the Drummer's Beat' plus other hit singles 'Who's the DJ' and 'Do the Funky Hambone,' with a new digital transfer remastered from the original analog tapes." Packaged in a paste-on mini-LP jacket with die cut obi strip and dust sleeve.

Artist: OL' DIRTY BASTARD
Title: Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: 2CD BOX
Price: $28.00
Catalog #: GET 52711CD
"It's safe to say that hip-hop has never seen an album like Ol' Dirty Bastard's 1995 solo debut Return to the 36 Chambers. The brief glimpses of ODB's unhinged genius provided by Wu-Tang Clan's landmark Enter the Wu-Tang album two years earlier were begging to be expanded on to a larger canvas, and, with RZA guiding production, the album promised to give Dirty the creative license to make one of the most bizarre, entertaining and original LPs in hip-hop history. In honoring the legacy of one of hip-hop's most innovative releases, Get On Down is proud to present this incredible and unique special edition of Ol' Dirty Bastard's Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version on double CD, which contains the complete original album, remastered for optimal sound quality, plus a 13-track second disc featuring remixes, a capellas, instrumentals and rarities from the Return to the 36 Chambers sessions. The two-disc set comes packaged in a deluxe bill fold wallet, designed especially for this release, which includes a reproduction of the laminated food stamp card featured on the album's iconic cover art. Also included are a vintage 'On Tour' poster, promotion sticker, extended artwork and detailed liner notes."

Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD

Catalog #: GET 52712CD
"As legend has it, Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez came up with the idea for the Bucketheads while riding through Manhattan and listening to the radio. The Brooklyn-born DJ, already a New York house music star thanks to his production and remix work with 'Little' Louie Vega (as Masters at Work), was unimpressed by the Euro-flavored dance records that were getting rotation and started digging in his own collection for the antidote to the tepid tracks coming from overseas. The result was the Bucketheads, an infectious blend of hip-hop, disco, funk and house influences that, like anything Kenny touches musically, simply could not miss. The Bucketheads impact is still felt today, as Miami rapper Pitbull would revive 'The Bomb' for his own 2009 smash hit 'I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho).' In 2006, Slant Magazine named the song as number 65 on their list of the '100 Greatest Dance Songs,' saying it 'brought disco revivalism to the world of jock jams.' Get On Down is honored to present the reissue of The Buckethead's essential 1995 album All in My Mind on CD, restored with brilliant sound, newly designed cover art and packaged in an embossed digi-pak."

"Zapp is the self-titled debut album from the brothers Troutman, a collective of funky Ohio natives famous for their Parliament Funkadelic affiliations, heavily sampled source material, and iconic repeated use of the talk-box. The legend of Zapp has grown exponentially over the years, but this album is where it all began. Heavily sampled by the likes of Notorious B.I.G., EPMD, Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, Dr. Dre and more, Zapp has proven that it's creative longevity is far reaching and timeless. Roger and Larry Troutman met an untimely end in the late 1990s, however, their spirit lives on through this incredible remastered and repackaged release. Packaged in a 4-panel digipak and available for the first time anywhere on CD -- Get On Down is proud to present Zapp's self-titled debut the way it was intended to be heard."

Title: Music: A Bit More Of Me
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 53501CD
"During the 1960s, Scottish-born actor David McCallum was an instantly recognizable face across the world, thanks to his star turn as secret agent Illya Kuryakin on the spy series The Man From U.N.C.L.E. But with the release of his second album, Music: A Bit More of Me, in 1966, he became recognizable for another reason: his signature sound. Working closely with famed producer David Axelrod and arranger H.B. Barnum, McCallum, who comes from a family of musicians, delivers lush, distinctly personal interpretations of classic songs by, among others, artists such as The Beatles ('Michelle'), Petula Clark ('Call Me') and Axelrod himself, who contributes the original song 'The Edge,' later made famous when sampled by Dr. Dre for his monster hit 'The Next Episode' in 1999. Get On Down is proud to present this timeless piece in a beautifully restored edition, with audio remastered from the original analog tapes, packaged in a paste-on mini-LP slip case based on the original album artwork, with dust sleeve and obi strip in a clear plastic poly bag. The album also features a reproduction of the full-color promotional photo contact sheet which was included with its original pressing."

Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 53502CD
"Famed New Orleans singer and pianist Willie Tee gives one of his finest ever performances on this classic release from 1969. Recorded under the guidance of Grammy award-winning composer/arranger David Axelrod, whose credits include Stan Kenton, Lou Rawls and countless others, I'm Only A Man introduced heavy orchestration and sweeping arrangements to Tee's music, yet without sacrificing the emotional complexity of his vocals. Original compositions such as 'Mirror' and the fantastic opener 'Bring on the Heartaches' are balanced by superb cover versions of 'By the Time I Get to Phoenix' and 'People,' with some beautiful surprises (see the bold, cinematic sound of 'Lonliness') in between. Get On Down is proud to present Willie Tee's classic album I'm Only A Man for the first time ever on CD, packaged in a paste-on mini-LP case with die cut obi strip and dust sleeve, featuring a new digital audio transfer from the original analog tapes and a bonus track, the non-LP single 'Love of a Married Man.'"

Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: GET 53503CD
"When the team of Greg Nice and Smooth B made their first appearance on Big Daddy Kane's 'Pimpin' Ain't Easy' in 1989, they instantly became one of the most recognizable duos in hip-hop. Known for their catchy, lighthearted and humorous tracks, Nice & Smooth combined Greg Nice's lyrical dexterity with Smooth B's slow, talkative flow to create an often imitated, never duplicate style that won admiration from the likes of Kane, Tupac, DJ Premier and many others. Their self-titled 1989 debut proved their initial chemistry was no fluke, to quote their single 'Early to Rise,' they 'kept coming back with more and more hits.' Aside from that song, the album also contains 'Funky for You' and 'Perfect Harmony,' tracks that highlighted the pair's unique delivery, sense of humor and ear for catchy beats. The group went on to experience further success in the subsequent years, but their debut remains possibly their best work, and a worthy inclusion on The Source magazine's list of 100 Best Rap Albums of All-Time. In continuing their series of classic hip-hop reissues, Get On Down is proud to present Nice & Smooth's long out-of-print debut album in a special edition, featuring audio remastered from the original master tapes and digipak packaging featuring the original album artwork."

Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 53504CD
"When Les De Merle released Spectrum in 1968, at age 22, his credentials as a musician were already impressive. Having been immersed in jazz culture from an early age, De Merle was already an accomplished bandleader by the time of the album's release, but Spectrum helped establish De Merle as not only a skillful, creative drummer on his own, but a composer/arranger adept in crafting a cohesive, intoxicating album. Spectrum is a prime example of his talents as a drummer and arranger, as working with a large band, he gives tracks like 'A Taste of Honey' and 'A Day in the Life' (famously sampled by rapper O.C. for his classic 1994 single 'Time's Up') a polished, big sound reminiscent of Quincy Jones or David Axelrod. Having floated in and out of print for years, Get On Down is proud to present this rare gem from Les De Merle in a spectacular new edition, featuring digipak packaging and two bonus cuts that were not included on the original release."

Artist: LYTLE, JOHNNY
Title: Done It Again
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 53506CD
"Throughout his career, vibraphonist Johnny Lytle never recorded with a major record label, preferring instead to cut tracks for lesser-known but respected imprints like Riverside Records and others. This may have prevented him from becoming as popular as some of the big names he recorded with--Wynton Kelly, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles and Roy Ayers among them--but his dedication to following his own creative instincts made the man known as 'Fast Hands' an icon amongst true jazz aficionados worldwide. His 1967 record Done It Again captures Lytle at his best, bursting with energy and verve to spare. The bright West Coast-flavored title cut is balanced by tender ballads like 'The Nearness of You' and 'If I Should Leave You,' all held together by Lytle's dynamic presence and tight arrangements. Packaged in a gatefold paste-on mini LP jacket, Lytle's Done It Again is required listening for any jazz fan, and Get On Down is proud to present this rare and important record for a new generation of listeners to experience and enjoy."

Title: The Wild Magnolias
Label: GET ON DOWN
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: GET 54036CD
"New Orleans is synonymous with music and Mardi Gras. The Wild Magnolias have both fronts covered. The roots of the Wild Magnolias go back to, at least, the 1950s as one of New Orleans' most popular and colorful Indian 'Krewes'. The Krewes fall under the guidance of a Chief, and Bo Dollis has been the Chief of the Wild Magnolias since the mid-60s. With a voice reminiscent of Sam Cooke and the flamboyance you'd expect at any given Mardi Gras, Bo and the Wild Magnolias rose to great heights in the 70s in a reign that continues to this day. The Wild Magnolias run as a recording act started in 1970 with the Handa Wanda 45 for the Crescent City imprint. In addition to a traditional Mardi Gras percussion lineup featuring everything from drums to beer bottles, Bo and the Wild Magnolias pulled in some prominent local talent as backup including Willie Tee and Snooks Eaglin. The cut became a Mardi Gras staple and lead to the French imprint Barclays (with distribution via Polygram) to sign the Krewe for this, the finest recording in the Wild Magnolias long and storied career. The album took Bo Dollis and the Wild Magnolias from a New Orleans phenomena to a global force with the lead single 'Smoke My Peace Pipe (Smoke it Right)' appearing on the Billboard charts. The Magnolias have even had a lasting effect on the world of hip hop with 'Corey Died On The Battlefield' and '(Somebody Got) Soul, Soul, Soul' being sampled by artists such as Schoolly D, 3rd Bass, Geto Boys and the Jungle Brothers. With this reissue culled from the original master, Get On Down turns every Tuesday into Fat Tuesday." Packaged in a paste-on mini-LP jacket with die cut obi strip and dust sleeve.

"It's not often that an album disavowed by its own author at the time of release goes on to become considered a modern classic. Yet that's exactly what happened with Chicago blues legend Howlin' Wolf's 1969 LP The Howlin' Wolf Album, a release that has since attained mythical status due to the controversy behind it. Released on Cadet Records, a subsidiary of legendary imprint Chess Records, The Howlin' Wolf Album was a radical experiment for a well-established artist: attempt to integrate electric instruments and psychedelic arrangements into his revered signature blues sound. The result was an album that Wolf himself initially disregarded on the now infamous cover, but one that has won a special place amongst dedicated music aficionados thanks to its unique mix of traditional blues and electric rock elements. Get On Down's reputation for high quality reissues continues with The Howlin' Wolf Album, which features audio remastered from the original analog tapes for optimum sound quality." Digipak release.

"When one thinks of Motown Records, heavy guitar riffs and psychedelic rock is not the first thing that comes to mind. Perhaps that's why Power of Zeus's The Gospel According to Zeus, the debut rock release by Motown subsidiary Rare Earth Records and the Detroit band's first and only full-length album, has achieved mythological status in the years since its release in 1970. Marked by the virtuoso guitar work of Joe Periano, Power of Zeus create an album that merges the high-concept songwriting of Pink Floyd with the tight, powerful arrangements of Black Sabbath; see the slow psychedelic dirge 'Green Grass & Clover' or the raw energy of 'Sorcerer of Isis' for examples. Initially disregarded by critics and audiences, Gospel has since been recognized as a classic album and become a much sought-after collector's piece, representing the lone, great effort from a band later torn apart by drug abuse and in-fighting. Get On Down is proud to present this forgotten gem as it was intended to be heard, with a new digital audio transfer from the original analog tapes."

"Almost two decades after its original release in 1975, the smooth, sensual bass groove of Leon Haywood's 'I Want to Do Something Freaky to You' was an unmistakable, constant presence on radio airwaves across the country--although the song itself was not. Thanks to Dr. Dre, who sampled Haywood's hit for his own smash single 'Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang' in 1992, a new generation of listeners were introduced to the Texas-born soul and funk singer, whose biggest hits (including the Dre-sampled track) appear on Come and Get Yourself Some. 'I Want to Do Something Freaky to You' was the centerpiece, becoming a Top 20 hit on the Pop charts, but the album reflected Haywood's talent for mid-tempo, laid-back R&B with songs like 'This Feeling's Extra Rated' and the bold, funky title track. A rare treat for soul/funk collectors lucky enough to find it, Come and Get Yourself Some becomes the latest classic title resurrected and refurbished by Get On Down, featuring a sparkling new audio transfer from the original analog tapes and presented in a digipak case."

"Long thought to be lost to only the most industrious of crate diggers, Bill Plummer's 1968 album Bill Plummer & the Cosmic Brotherhood makes its triumphant return on Get On Down for the first time ever on compact disc. Already an accomplished jazz bassist at the time of the album's release, Bill Plummer turned heads on the Cosmic Brotherhood with heavy Eastern and psychedelic influences that challenged contemporary ideas about jazz. Original compositions like 'Journey to the East' and 'Arc 294' are colored by striking sitar sounds, rhythmic chanting and melodic improvisation, while Plummer lends his distinctive touch to songs by The Byrds ('Lady Friend') and Burt Bacharach ('The Look of Love'). The result is an album that reflects a musician at the peak of his creative powers, unafraid to explore new ideas and sounds that meld into a cohesive, spectacular album. After decades languishing in obscurity, Get On Down is proud to present Bill Plummer & the Cosmic Brotherhood as it was intended to be heard, with a brilliant new digital audio transfer from the original masters." "According to legend, when the Wu-Tang Clan formed like Voltron on their debut album in 1993, GZA happened to be the head--an appropriate place for a man also called 'The Genius.' Yet at the time few could have predicted that his 1995 masterpiece Liquid Swords would be considered 'one of the most substantial lyrical journeys in hip-hop history' (Chicago Tribune). At the peak of his powers as a producer, Wu-Tang mastermind RZA crafted the album's distinctive soundtrack at his basement studio in Staten Island; a haunting landscape of dusty samples, sharp snares and menacing urban gloom, with frequent interludes of dialogue from the classic Samurai flick Shogun Assassin. Cerebral, strategic and precise with his words, GZA crystallizes a range of influences--from chess to kung-fu films to mob flicks and Eastern philosophy--into sharply delivered rhymes. The album features appearances by the entire Wu-Tang Clan, and includes the auspicious debut of Killah Priest on 'B.I.B.L.E.' Acknowledged as one of the '100 Best Rap Albums' (The Source) and 'Top 100 Records of the 1990s' (Pitchfork.com), Get On Down is proud to present Liquid Swords as it was intended to be experienced, on double vinyl with audio remastered from the original source tapes and the original iconic cover artwork from DC Comics artist Denys Cowan." "Big Bad Bo sure plays like he is big and bad on this early '70s era classic. He traded in his signature scratchy guitar sound for a funkier, tighter, and crisper sound. "Skull Snaps's legacy isn't defined by a prolific catalog or the longevity of their career. In fact, this album from 1973 is the group's only album, yet it was enough to earn them a place as one of the more mysterious and fascinating funk ensembles of the era. Previously known as The Diplomats, the group--featuring Sam Culley, Erv Waters and George Bragg--became the Skull Snaps after several notable releases (including 'She's the One'), and their self-titled album is nine tracks worth of gruff, unpolished vocals, crisp drums and driving pace that hasn't diminished with age. 'I'm Your Pimp' echoes the jazz-funk fusion sound of Blaxploitation cinema, while the second single 'Snapped' is fueled by a tough horn break. But the real jewel here is 'It's a New Day,' the group's signature song, who's unmistakable opening drum break has become a staple ingredient of hip-hop cuts by Ol Dirty Bastard, Das EFX, Eric B. & Rakim, Digable Planets, DJ Shadow and others. In continuing our series of rare, vintage funk reissues, Get On Down is proud to present Skull Snaps lost classic in a special edition in CD format." Deluxe paste-on gatefold packaging. "Though classically trained Arthur Russell's major contributions to the music world is in the dance genre. Despite the fact that his pioneering work in the late '70s and on through the '80s was only quietly acknowledged at the time, his long term impact is best described as formidable. Russell's innovative; left field dance records flew way ahead of what people were used to hearing at the time, due in part, to his involvement in New York's downtown avant-garde music scene. He scored several hits at clubs like the Paradise Garage (Larry Levan was a huge supporter) and his biggest tunes, 'Go Bang!' and 'Is It All Over My Face?' are worldwide hits and still played to this day. Sleeping Bag Records and Get On Down are proud to present his seminal work, the full length 24-->24 Music expanded to a deluxe 4LP box set. In addition to the music found on the original issue of the album this collection includes rare 12" remixes and edits including the highly coveted 'Go Bang!
