GPM 005EP
Get Physical catalog additions; this one from 2003, with remix by DJ Naughty. "Old school flavour meets the sounds and beats of today, paying homage to the rudimentary tracks of the early disco era and the unforgettable Sound of Philadelphia. Reverbed string lines, sweet atmospheres and spectacular dub effects fly over a forcing and omnipresent groove, keeping the track´s flow over its epic length of 8 1/2 minutes. Like the previous release, 'Philly' was produced together with GPM producer Booka Shade. On B1 you find DJ Naughty's interpretation, starting off with a sweaty beat, later breaking into an atmosphere that is close to the original, yet spicing it up with a good portion of 'Naughty Funk'. B2 gives you the Dub Mix...no chords...no melodies...just pure groove."

GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:

Catalog #:
GPM 007EP
Originally released June, 2003. "The collaboration between Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung aka M.A.N.D.Y and Patrik Dechent aka The Sunsetpeople. With the help of producer Booka Shade, the project M.A.N.D.Y. & The Sunsetpeople combine the complex beat and groove texture created by Bodmer/Jung & the soul of Dechent, who since childhood has bonded deeply with the party island Ibiza. Dechent's reduced electroid flow up injects such a massive amount of summer atmosphere into the bloodstream that one is tempted to ask Scotty to press the 'beam me up' button as quickly as possible, hoping one will end up on a beach with barely dressed soulmates, sharing the experience of feeling the beat stream through the warm sand into one's body."

Price:

Catalog #:
GPM 008EP
Originally released July 2003. "GPM 008 is the third production by DJ T. and his production partner Booka Shade for the label. Anyone who has heard 'Starlit' (GPM 003) and 'Philly' (GPM 005) can easily recognize their atmospheric electronica and trademark basslines. The A-side 'Freemind' touches all the bases of their first releases and reaches even higher. All you need is this nine minute summer EPs to get your 'open air' groove on. The B-side 'Bite' is another good example of reshaping the soundscape of the 80's. 'Bite' teases as did 'Electrofied' (GPM 003) with Electro-Funk, yet takes it to a new pulsating level."

I Don't Know?
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 009EP
Originally released 11/26/2003, 2nd release on GPM for Jones. "Like the first release (GPM 004 'One & One'/'Blackout!'), the follow-up: 'I Don't Know?' / 'The Rush' follows the dramatic switch from A-side to B-side (A-side: poppier, B-side: freakier). The melodramatic flush of 'I Don't Know?' kicks directly in the crotch of the typical club-lyric tracks that we are all too willing to ignore; this track calls for our undivided attention...at the same time, our feet never misses a beat! 'The Rush' is the A-side's sinister sibling; the one we are all terrified of, but we're glued to every detail with psychopathic fascination...The 'Sex with the machines mix' is just that, while the 'Raw dub mix' nearly numbs the listener / dancer with its bare understatement."

Achaat
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 010EP
Originally released in 2004. "With their 3rd release on the Physical label, M.A.N.D.Y. (Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung) and Booka Shade demonstrate how to combine sound experimentation with club functionality. The end-results compare to a modern-day space expedition soundtrack. '70s electro-school vs. airy synth pop coat the A-side 'Achaat,' leaving the room swollen with its piously spikey groove. The B-side 'Words Don't Come Easy' is clearly more understated, reminding one of an early Sunday morning in Berlin."

Stupid Questions
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 012EP
Originally released in 2003/March 2004. "Since the mid '90s, Booka Shade graced clubland's ears (and feet) with tracks such as 'Kind of Good' and 'Silk' (on Holland's fine Touché label). With the A-side of 'Stupid Questions,' a rocky funkbass leads the cue to the groove. The nearly irrational atmosphere and vocal slabs adds to the frenzy. The B-side 'Up' is ample with vocal cut-ups/knicks and tweeks and pecks...along with a blatant machine-beat that jumbles up a complex journey... corners/cliffs and fangs included... oh, and let us not forget to mention...PHEROMONE (ahh!)."

Get Lost/Phantomas
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 013EP
Originally released in July, 2004. "With DJ T's first three releases on Get Physical,
Starlit/Electrofied
,
Philly
and
Freemind/Bite
, the elements are woven through many directions from club music's lengthy past (electro, disco, hi N-R-G, Italo-house), and re-emerge on this follow-up, with the help of long-time production partner, Booka Shade. The A-side 'Get Lost' begins with the trademark bass line, reminding one of the themes/pages culled from the 1988 acid house movement, then surprisingly creeps into a hypnotic break -- led by a dominant acoustic bass and vocoder-hookline. The B-side 'Phantomas' fights in contrast to the previous, with a nearly seven-minute real-sound drums / punk attitude / disco sequence to unhinge even the firmest clubfloor panels."

Take Me Home
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 014EP
Originally released in April 2004. "Lopazz's sound has a very high recognition factor -- and it's his production values which make him stand out from the infinite number of fellow dancefloor producers. Similar in approach to Matthew Herbert, who came up with the PCCO manifesto, his very own idiosyncratic production framework, Eichinger creates tracks that are 100% analogue and based on natural, non-computer generated sounds. Lopazz carved his very own aesthetic niche a long time ago, as can be heard on his first ever release for Berlin-based label Get Physical -- both the Barry White-esque 'Take Me Home' and 'Migracion' (featuring vocals by Alex Cortez and Mariella Landivar-Garcia) are fresh, emotional and tongue-in-cheek enough to bring tears to our eyes."

Whoop
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 015EP
Originally released on 26.05.2004. The wonderfully atmospheric and discretely clicky and cranky eye-rolling tune "Whoop" claims the A1 position while "Alternative Dance From Hell" on B1 gets straight to the point, treading the tightrope between ethereal and rocky elements -- glittering chord cascades rise to high heavens over a
Moroder
-esque bassline. B2 is not the usual stopgap, but features yet another gem: the spoken word "Be Loud" is sparingly arranged yet shuffles along with an irresistibly poppy twist, urging us to march along and follow the imperative indefinitely.

Catalog #:
GPM 016EP
Originally released in June, 2004. "After two collaborations with M.A.N.D.Y., GPM 016 features the first independent project by Patrick Dechent aka Sunsetpeople. While 'Mifune' continues Sunsetpeople's characteristic mix of dub and deepness, it is also more demanding and ecstatic. Patrik's production partner Booka Shade adds crisp, electronic elements, distinct chords and dominant vocoder vocals which make this techno/house hybrid work in both camps, energetically bridging the gap between prime time and after hour. For the B-side, Martin Landsky, German keeper of the old school Chicago house Grail, contributes a mix based on snippets of the original's essential elements -- its clear-cut killer groove nails the crowd to the floor without losing the gist of the original's dubby character. Jack your body!"

Time Out
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 017EP
Originally released in July, 2004. "DJ T.'s fifth release on Get Physical features three completely different versions of one track. 'Time Out' in its original form is an easy-going homage to the summer-time euphoric aesthetic of early Italo tracks. Shifting light-hearted synth-pop sequences and an acid-line loop on top of a driving, percussive groove. Through a dominant and perpetually uncertain staccato bass line, the robust 'Acid Dub' (on side B) does away with this mood and creates a self-determined, shuddering groove. Carl A. Finlow, aka Random Factor's unmistakable signature style, creates a version in which a rolling wave of sound leaves glittering sound cascades in its wake without forgetting the dancefloor. It is the ideal soundtrack for an open-air after-sunrise."

Vertigo/Memento
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 019EP
Originally released in August, 2004. "Their work is similar to that of pilots. Consistently gain altitude, stay on course and by no means, allow a drop in pressure to occur. Like a seat in first class, their sound is refined and sophisticated and has enough sex appeal to angle several stewardesses.
Vertigo/Memento
is a small taste of the album that, from this sampling, will be a good companion for several trips around the globe. 'Vertigo' has enough energy to power several Jumbo take-offs -- while 'Memento' rests on its wings to glide through space. Both are in all respects classic dance numbers with strong '80s funk references, high intercontinental relevance and are enveloped with a sovereign ambience of technical know-how."

Walk Right Back
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 021EP
Originally released in October, 2004. "John Andersson and Johan Emmoth are the creative force behind Zoo Brazil. Also recording as Laid, Cuba Computers, Nars and Outcold, they have steadily carved out a reputation as a highly innovative and respected production and DJ team. The pair are prolific producers and DJs, having worked with some of the world's best known artists -- for example Human League. Here, Zoo Brazil show their ability to deliver infectious electronic grooves. All three tracks are aimed squarely at the dancefloor, with stripped back 4/4 beats driving through acid squelches, raw synth stabs and minimal percussion. The lead track, 'Walk Right Back' is already creating a stir on floors in London and Berlin, with more set to follow."

Memento Album Remixes
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 022EP
Originally released in Jan, 2005; remixes by Ada and Chloe. "The first of two album remix edition 12"s. Ada is a German singer and producer, who recently released her debut album
Blondie
. For the remix, Ada takes elements of Vertigo and Cha! She embraces the quirky melodies of Booka Shade adding, with her trademark restraint, gently pounding bass rhythms and enticing snares. Parisian Chloé is a DJ, musician and producer who refined her sound to an eclectic mixture of German minimalism and dirty electro with residencies at some of the city's most influential nights. Here Chloé strips 'Memento' back to a bare minimal groove of interwoven bass sounds. Rasping textures and snatches of vocal add warmth to the all-important space between the bass. Completing the package is the extended mix of 'Cha!' -- Booka Shade's perfectly weighted intricate rhythms wrap around deep textures and vocal snippets to create an unusual but hypnotic dancefloor cut."

Jah
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 024EP
Originally released in March, 2005. "M.A.N.D.Y.s 6th release on Get Physical demonstrates a subtle shift in direction with a sound that's more stripped back. 'Jah' bursts with a fresh vitality, unlike previous M.A.N.D.Y. releases it sounds rough and raw, allowing the impulsive energy of its rapid creation to shine through. Pattering drums and deep sub bass are overlaid with snares but it's the introduction of playfully rising melodies that add warmth to the edginess and complete the magic. On the b-side, 'Pray' features delicate bouncing rhythms and lively percussion. The deep groove is complimented by mellow chords and vocal snatches, a slow builder that ripens into a pool of bass, melody and intoxicating atmospheres."

Memento Album Remixes 2
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 025EP
Originally released in March, 2005. "The second of the remix editions for Booka Shade's debut album
Memento
features one exclusive new track and a remix by Marco Passarani. All tracks are firmly destined for club use and bound to excite more discerning dancefloors, with their mixture of deep atmospherics and intricate percussion. Booka Shade's remix of 'S.T.A.R.R.Z.' has a bouncing low electro bassline and understated broken beats. The deep sub bass burbles and builds through sprinklings of snare and purring melodies that bristle with FX. For the Analogue Fingerprint remix, 'Friend For A Night' is enticed onto the peaktime dancefloor with an infectious groove that rolls throughout. The sparkling melodies of the original intertwine with low analogue bass and intricate rhythm play. Marco Passarani is a native of Rome, who's been engaged in electronic music since the early '90s. On the B-side, 'Panoramic' is aimed squarely at the feet and the hips. A firm sub bass is cut with a bouncing groove skipping across a bed of snares. As it builds, the groove opens out with layer upon layer of deeper bass, peppered computer noise and shimmering electronic percussion."

Closer/Walk on Water
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 026EP
Originally released March, 2005. "'Closer' is a collaboration between Riton and Howdi and sets itself apart from Riton's other works, steeped in pathos and with a dreamy and romantic edge. An eerie build-up leads to a dialogue between two lovers. 'Walk on Water' on the other hand mines the seam of classic acid house with its kicking bass drum, 303 bass-line and staccato claps reminiscent of the glory days of Trax. Satanic voices bemoan the fruitless search for water in a sandy landscape and sing the immortal line 'I don't want to fuck your daughter, just because I'm in a band.' Riton's impeccable sense of humour shines through and will bring a smile to the faces of legions of peak hour club-goers."

Body Language
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:

Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 027EP
Originally released Aprik, 2005. "Here M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade go head to head in the studio. 'Body Language' builds with a warm bouncing bassline wrapped in snares and gentle percussive textures. Highly infectious melodies lie on a bed of shimmering atmospheres combining with a driving click beat and deep subbass to complete this balmy uptempo dancefloor cut. Afrilounge is a German collective of DJs and producers creating pure house and electronic music, from minimal techno to electrobeats. Afrilounge offer a low slung, stripped back remix of 'Body Language.' Sparkling sound and shreds of melody are wound around a metronomic click bass. Breaking down with rasping textures and a more forceful bass, this is a spacey rework that gives a dark and sexy edge to the original parts."

Rising
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 028EP
Originally released April, 2005. "DJ T.'s first single taken from his debut album
Boogie Playground
. Here DJ T.'s heartfelt influences of electro, disco, Italo, acid, Detroit and Chicago house are displayed but given a new shape. 'Rising' is low slung but high energy house. Starting deep and moody, it gradually builds with layer upon layer of cut up vocal stabs and sub bass, licked with snares, into a dense and hypnotizing dancefloor groove. Completely addictive, this is happily T.'s favourite track from the album. On the flip, 'Galaga' is more obviously a techno cut created for the feet, engaging with acid bleeps and forceful beats. Named after one of T.'s favourite childhood arcade games, it conjures images of fighting spaceships and furious movement. Get your freak on."

Mandarine EP
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 029EP
Originally released June, 2005. "Here, Booka Shade moves closer than ever to the peaktime dancefloor with a track that's a highlight of their live show. 'Mandarine Girl' was inspired by a special night they shared in 1993, at Sven Vath's legendary techno club, The Omen. Engaging chords, electronic bleeps and snares set a mood of anticipation, gradually building excitement with trademark percussive textures and soaring melody. Driving bass and warm FX gather strength around the sultry lead melody as 'Mandarine Girl' reaches its peak with sexy synths and ensnaring electro beats. On the flip, 'Triple Identity' sees a favourite track from the album breathed with new life. Low slung bass and bristling electronic percussion combine with lush tones and distinctive analogue bassline for a cut that's darker and sexier for the floor. Finally, 'Point Break' is the second of the tracks written specially for their live show. A bed of rising atmospheres and clicking percussion opens out with the simple vocal and infectious bouncy melody at its heart."

Le Bateau Ivre
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 030EP
Originally released July, 2005. "The first single taken from his debut album
Dislocated Genius
. 'Le Bateau Ivre' is the closing track from the album, and was inspired in part by Arthur Rimbaud's poem 'The Drunken Ship' -- a seafaring tale of an alluring but nefarious existence, as this writer reads it. Rumbling sub bass, grumbling soundbeds, sci-fi clicks and spacey synths underpin Chelonis' pop-catchy haunting vocal. 'Middle Finger Music' comes on strong with psychotic noise before pulling back to a controlled beat bristling with glitches and evolving into a strong rumbling bassline. Strange but infectiously danceable, bassline mixing with snatches of vocal before kicking off with the uplifting melody and words that are distinctively Chelonis. The Fairy kicks 'Le Bateau Ivre' firmly onto the primetime dancefloor. The rework embraces Chelonis' sugar sweet pop vocals adding strong sub bass and electro flavour." Remixes by The Fairy project (Tiga & Jesper Dahlbäck) and Samin & Michal (Tuning Spork).

A Guy Called Jack Album Remixes 1
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 031EP
Originally released Oct., 2005. With remixes from Joakim and Samim & Michal. "The second single from DJ T.'s passion-drenched debut album features exciting remixes from the fast emerging talents of Joakim and Samim & Michal. Following on from the addictive cut 'Rising,' T. continues with his modern reinterpretation of his retro house, techno and disco influences. On the A-side, 'A Guy Called Jack' is an homage to old Trax records and classic Chicago house. The Joakim remix of 'A Guy Called Jack' experiments with the original aesthetic T. aimed for, reinterpreting it in a more laidback manner. Swiss producers Samim & Michal, hail from Jay Haze's Tuning Spork stable -- heir self-declared aim is to put the bling into minimal electro house. For their remix of 'A Guy Called Jack' they create the kind of deep groove that you want to absorb endlessly."

Catalog #:
GPM 032EP
Originally released July, 2005. "'Picadilly Circuits' was made in an afternoon at Williams' London flat and featured on M.A.N.D.Y.'s
Body Language
compilation. A perky, bouncing acid-bassline drives through soaring electronics and computer fuzz. Evil sounding stabs jar with the smooth electro feel and add another dimension at the breakdown that sends this into dancefloor orbit. On the B-side, 'The Arrival' is a deeper cut that builds gradually with many layers of spacey FX and bass. Finally, 'The Arrival (Departure)' is an even deeper tribal feeling rework. It opens with huffing stabs and moody sub bass, the broken bassline working up to the breakdown with layers of soaring atmospheres and the original infectious melody."

Funk On You Remixes
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 033EP
Originally released Sept, 2005. With remixes from Manhead and Putsch 79. "On the original of 'Funk On You' DJ T. swirls electro funk, disco and Italo fragments into an organic-sounding whole complete with breathy stabs and handclaps. With vocals inspired by Tom Tom Club, he creates a tongue-in-cheek party vibe. The two remixers DJ T. has chosen have a finger on the modern disco pulse, as was his original intention with 'Funk On You.' Robbie Insinna takes two guises; Headman for the more nu wave, rock-influenced productions and Manhead for the more disco, Italo-inspired, electro sounds. His Manhead's 'Robi's Rave' remix sounds like in the middle between these two alter egos, it features low sub bass and clicking hi-hats from the off combing with thumping drums and all the original vocal parts. Flipping over, Putsch 79 also takes things more forward than we might commonly expect with a percussive heavy remix. Grooving disco beats and looped melody meet slapping percussion and beguiling space sounds, to entice us out for dancefloor mayhem."

Originally released Oct., 2005. "Danish producer Tomas Barford returns with his second single on Get Physical. On 'Neon Strobe' hissing snares, acid funk and growling bassline combine with pulsing synth for a dirty peaktime cut. Driving percussion punctuated with maracas lend a distinctive edge to the popular electro trance sound. 'Mind The Others' opens with tapping percussion and rolling drum breaks gradually building strength with the analogue bassline and electronic melody. Clipped synth stabs and pattering percussion ensure there's plenty of funk in the groove. On the flip, 'For Your Eyes' kicks off with thumping drum rhythm and tingling snares. inally, on 'Trancer' clicks and snares create an off kilter rhythm that builds with a growling bassline, orbiting sound textures and whirring synths punctuated by delicate chimes."

Catalog #:
GPM 037EP
Originally released Nov., 2005. "Elektrochemie is the collaboration of producer and DJ Thomas Schumacher, producer Stephan Bodzin and vocalist Caitlin Devlin. Elektrochemie is a vocal club project, ripe with feeling that grips the club dancefloor as much as live audiences. 'Pleasure Seeker' is a sensual track that immediately connects with the listener with the strong sultry vocals and dramatic production. Opening with throbbing Moog bass that hooks you straight in, the heavily FX'd vocals weave like an instrument across growling bass textures that gather power as they're filtered and dropped around the lyrical arrangement. On the B-side, 'Star Struck' comes on strong with a deep, LFO modulated bassline, punchy 4/4 drums, and arousing glitches and clicks."

On "Ambush," DJ T. updates the disco groove with his darker modern edge. Here it's all about the low end, as layers of ominous, undulating sub bass throb away underneath snappy percolating rhythms. As it builds, heavy bass and shards of edgy synth are interchanged and arranged into a playful bleepy groove. "Stalker" sees T. moving back into old skool house territory for a thoroughly modern assault on the dancefloor. A driving kick and hi-hats are backed up with signature DJ T. finger snaps over tingling atmospheres. The warm, hypnotic bassline keeps you locked in growling FX, moody pads and a trippy xylophone build to a bubbling crescendo.

Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 039EP
With remixes by DJ Hell & Radioslave. Taken from Chelonis R. Jones's debut album,
Dislocated Genius
, "Deer In The Headlights" is further proof that the American producer in Germany is one of electronic dance music's most talented mavericks. Opening with a repetitive metallic groove, tight claps and a dank, robotic bassline, the track moves to a tripped-out chord progression that juxtaposes modern Italo's darkest excesses and the positivity of '90s trance with the sound of crashing waves. The dub remix stretches out the basic components to create a more DJ-friendly version, while Gigolo boss
DJ Hell
returns his finest remix in years. Finally,
Radioslave
, aka
Matt Edwards
remixes, following a more techno direction, combining hypnotic, textured builds with a gritty, tracky backing and a wide-eyed sensibility that'll appeal to fans of techno's deep, dubby side.

The Learnings EP
Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:

Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 040EP
This is the debut release by Belgian producer
Jonathan Troupin
, who will be a name to watch in 2006. The title track sets out a brave new order for electronic dance music, as Jona combines the gritty, dubby beats and glitchy percussion of Berlin's finest with a house swagger alien to most minimal music. He then proceeds to add in a soaring trance riff that subtly builds over the scuffled backing. "Learning From The Mistakes" is a future classic in waiting. On the flip, Jona takes more chances with "Full Pool," laying down an insidiously infectious blues rock guitar riff over squelchy beats and a bleepy electronic bassline. Equal parts classic rock and futuristic German studio engineering,
The Learnings
dares to go where no others have ventured.

Label:
GET PHYSICAL MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
GPM 041EP
While Booka Shade's biggest release of 2005,
Mandarine Girl
, basked in the euphoric afterglow of early '90s techno-trance, their latest 12" is a somewhat darker, more nocturnal affair. The taster single for Booka Shade's second album
Movements
works with a spine-tingling trance riff over scuffled, hazy beats and a strong story-telling bassline. On "Trespass 06," the duo delves deeper into pared-back club material, expressing some of Booka Shade's finer points -- intricate percussion, hypnotic arrangement and understated beats. The final track is characterized by an intense, brooding bassline that morphs into gurgling fluidity. Underpinned by a rigid funk structure, this track has been inspired by the raw funk of Chicago, fashioned specifically for darkened, sweaty basements and heaving sound systems.

Accompanying the Get Physical CD compilation that collects some of the label's recent highlights and forthcoming releases is this first sampler remix EP, which recruits some of the most promising producers from both sides of the Atlantic as remixers. Newcomer
Jona
fuses the hissing textures and skeletal percussion of minimalism with the tight claps and swinging groove of Chicago house on
M.A.N.D.Y.
's "Jah," while
Troy Pierce
's remix of
Chelonis R. Jones
' "Deer In The Headlights" is all ominous dark bass with splintered metallic percussion. Finally, Pierce collaborates with
Konrad Black
to deliver a new version of
Booka Shade
's big tune, "Mandarine Girl." The trio turn the infectious trance hooks into darker, techier riffs, while a freeform jazzy flute solo plays along in the background. Get Physical pushes electronic music to its furthest limits.

This is the label debut by US producer in Berlin and one half of
Captain Comatose
, Snax alongside Ianeq, one half of the Swiss music machine
Enterplay
. "Fill Me Up" sounds like the guys have been raiding their '80s funk and electro record collection for inspiration; Snax's high pitched falsetto vocals and their use of vintage synth lines transport us. However, the loose beats make this track ideal for DJs who like their grooves dipped in romantic sleaze. On "It Ain't Love," they return to more conventional house music territory, with a tighter, clubby arrangement. But the elastic funk groove and breezy synths remain, allowing Snax's climaxing vocals to reach a soulful nirvana.

Fuckpony is a new project that Berlin producer
Jay Haze
and
Samim
use to explore the outer limits of house music. Taking inspiration from old school, they drop "Ride The Pony," a vocal house track that celebrates the hedonistic lifestyle dance music offers. The production is clean, the sounds are clear, and the vocals a bit edgy. "Cell Phone Hit" is a more direct club track, tailor-made for dark basements. The seemingly unending vocal mantra is set to a trippy, repetitive rhythm. Finally, Haze and Samim return to minimal with "Schmoozin." Stripped back, warm building chords, and wild yelping will make it the ideal accompaniment to this summer's outdoor parties.

GPM 045EP
This is the second set of remixes of Booka Shade's "In White Rooms" single. While these new versions take the track to previously unexplored, exotic places, they still don't sacrifice its epic qualities.
Walter
and
Arno
themselves provide the first interpretation, inspired by the beaches of the Yucatan. The rhythms are more stripped down and glitchy, and the soaring bass isn't audible this time, but the overall feeling is spaced out, due to the haunting chords. Then, female Dutch DJ/producer
Shinedoe
brings her spinning expertise to bear with her version. Deep and swirling, yet jacking and acidic, Shinedoe's love of Detroit techno and Chicago house is united by a grainy bassline and a dramatic breakdown. It's musical techno, but it will still work in the main room of an underground club at peak times.

After the huge success of 2005's "Body Language" track, the Get Physical founders find the time to team up for another collaboration -- this time it's DJ T. and Booka Shade's turn. "Played Runner" obviously doesn't represent one of the contemporary formulas -- taking inspiration from the classic Detroit techno sound, the musical chords and dreamy strings sweep and soar to dramatic highs. The powerful standing bassline is also a central part, and once it kicks in, it hits the listener on a physical as well as emotional level. Changing musical direction, "Queen Lucid" sounds like it's bringing together the best in DJ T. and Booka Shade's identities. Featuring
Arno
and
Walter
's ability to make drop-dead seductive melodies and T.'s love of rumbling electronic basslines, the track also looks to dance music's past to create a moody yet rousing cut that will go down a storm on every dancefloor.

"German DJ Thomas Schumacher, producer Stephan Bodzin and Australian vocalist Caitlin Devlin team up again for a second release on Get Physical. 'Don't Go' is an invitation to stay on, to keep the evening going. Caitlin's sultry, teasing vocals 'promise not to fall asleep' and she says that she 'won't entertain the thought of being alone.' It's a rallying call to a close friend not to give up the party and Caitlin insists that she's 'up for everything you see/I want to enjoy your company.' The accompanying music is more restrained than 'Pleasure Seeker', but it's the perfect soundtrack for nights that go on for ever, an after-party track with a stripped-back jacking rhythm, throbbing bass pulses and building riffs that map changing moods, the peaks and troughs clubbers experience when the night blends into daytime."

The title track starts the EP in tough mode, powered by a prowling bassline and tight claps, with scary metallic techno rhythms. "Silver Ghost" still has a moody, mysterious feeling, but its bleepy, electronic bass is more groovy and chugs along to the sound of sweet, chiming melodies. Close your eyes and imagine the bumping funk of underground Chicago with the evocative hooks of European trance and you're close to the sound of "The Deepity Pt. 2."

Trentemøller
who drops an epic, tranced-out version that sounds like a true Balearic anthem, but which also uses the original track's acoustic guitar riff. Then the Berlin act
My My
pushes the track in a radically different direction, bringing the track back to basics, their shuffling drums and acidic licks possessing a sleazy rawness that will appeal to any DJ who likes trippy, stripped back club grooves. Lastly, the
Def Jaguar
version centers on a murky bassline and has a moody tone from the outset. This version will have a devastating effect in big rooms as well as intimate clubs.

drop "In White Rooms," another epic Booka Shade dancefloor moment. Available in its original format as well as a fresh new take from
Elektrochemie
which loses none of the original track's melodic, epic qualities, this release is certain to find room in discerning DJ boxes. The original version has that distinctive, electronic, soaring Booka Shade bassline, which keeps on building and building until it finally reaches an emotive, evocative climax. The remix by Elektrochemie builds from subtle, spacey beginnings and powerful claps that provide the basis for a booming, bleepy bassline, transporting the listener from the soft-focus haze of European trance to the mean streets of Chicago and back again. "Blue Rooms" displays Booka Shade's dance floor power. Panning percussion and a heavy bass contain shards of a human voice -- this one will cause devastation in the club.

Catalog #:
GPM 051EP
Remixes from Radioslave, Jona & Sterac Electronis. "Body Language" was one of Get Physical's biggest releases, and now remix duties are handed over to three carefully chosen producers.
Jona
impresses his stripped back, hypnotic percussion and blasts of fuzzy noise, giving "Language" a more techno feeling.
Radioslave
offers a near ten-minute reshape. Rooted in hissing percussion and underpinned by a pulsing acid groove, the jacking track builds to reach a trancey climax. Finally,
Sterac
takes "Language" on a trip to the outer limits of electronic music. Live drums and jazzy keys edge the melodies of the original track into a parallel universe, pushing the track towards the adventurous spirit of Motor City, but the brooding bass means that it will still work out on the dancefloor. The producers may speak in different tongues, but the message is clear: it's impossible not to move your body to these remixes!

Lastly, "Dawg's Life" is a lean, jacking affair that morphs into a spacey, acid workout. double vinyl package. Eight tracks from eight different artists focus on upcoming producers and new signings to the Get Physical family. First up is Italian newcomer
Slok
with a remix of
Elbee Bad
's very first single, "Just Don't Stop The Dance." This 1988-derived piece is an evocative, old school house track, with haunting chords and moody vocals.
Zwicker
's "Monkey Mood," and its official first vinyl appearance combines a snaking electronic bass and trippy chords with screeching chimpanzees and sounds sampled from the rainforest. "Daybreak" is given the remix treatment by
Jona
, with a hypnotic deep house track.
DJ Lava
contributes "Just You," a trippy composition with a friendly old school house flavor. Next,
Williams
starts his track off with a mournful, understated groove, its bass gradually building into a wall of electronic noise before breaking down into a series of frequency-shifting bleeps.
Einzelkind
keeps the intensity levels in the red with the grinding electronic bass of "So Close So Far," while
Discemi
presents a track of soaring bass, melodic trance riffs, and old school Chicago drums. Finally, label newcomers
Audiofly
, collaborating on this occasion with
James Talk
, deliver "Cool Wet Grass," which skips and shuffles along to a minimal rhythm, until the plunging, resonating bass builds to an epic finale.
