The 13th release from the imprint presents an outstanding 12" comprised of 'Rhythm' from label boss, Jakes, along with the debut release from Bristol's rapidly rising star, Mensah. 'Rhythm' is the name, and you can bet your bottom dollar that this tune has it. Immediately setting the step, a background siren gives the warning for what's about to follow. With Jakes' vocal defining the riff of the track, get ready for a bassline that's best described as 'underwater funk'. Featuring the debut release on the label from Croydon producers, Tek-One, and yet another stunner from Hench favourite, Komonazmuk. Both tracks exemplify what this label has become renowned for: bass-heavy, forward-thinking dubstep pressure -- and it also happens that both tracks are absolutely killer! 'Broken String' is one standout tune, recognizable from the off. A haunting synth with the kind of vocal rare in dubstep productions, brings you in gently to the drop. From there it's all change -- the drum roll makes way for a mechanical and glitchy bass riff that's going to have people running for cover. With the occasional vocal stab, Tek-One's effort is an outstandingly paradoxical release -- both beautifully atmospheric and dancefloor-destroying at the same time. Since that first release, Lost has been a regular feature in Get Darker TV's live shows and this new offering will not disappoint fans. His debut releases on Hench deemed strong enough to appear next to some of the scene's biggest producers, such as Jakes, Komonazmuk and Chasing Shadows. Cutting straight to the chase, Lost captures the sub-bass perspective of '90s dance culture perfectly with 'Disgustin Justin.' With the swinging bassline creating a raw and dubby atmosphere, you can immediately tell that this was built to be played on a big sound system. Scattered hi-hats and glitches keep the momentum rolling forward solidly. The estranged vocal in the background and percussive drums add to the tripped-out mood of this production. "These tracks have been causing quite a stir. So tantalizingly disgusting that the likes of Rusko, Sukh Knight, NType, Doctor P, Flux Pavillion, Jakes and Trolley Snatcha can't leave it alone! Eddie K is no newcomer to the dance music scene. Starting out as a drum and bass producer, his debut releases made an impact amongst the scene with tracks such as 'Planet Terror' and 'My Sound' remaining in DJ bags to date. More recently, Ed's been making a significant entry into the dubstep world.
